seriously this panel is so,,, god,,, like not only the parallel makes me insane but wow the shapes and colors here too. i am easily amazed clearly LMFAO but gosh idk i just really like this,,, the swirl of summer flames lashing around and javier's wings also being curled as part of the swirl, centering to a single point around the eye of summer,,, which is also similar to the older panels of suho reaching to the light bc they usually ended up also pinpointed on a single point in at least one of the panels . oh my god it just keeps going im so . AAAAHHH!!!!!

i think it's interesting too that one of the differences is that both of them are reaching, but in this panel his fingers are wider outstretched. like, suho's hand reaches, but lloyd's hand is about to grab, does that make sense? that's what it looks like to me,,, of course i'm not sure how intentional that is (it likely isn't and is just that way bc it's been so long since the original panel was drawn) but it's a nice difference to point out either way,,, he's finally reaching it

THE EYE OF SUMMER IS SUPER DUPER CUTE TOO BTW when it combined w the heart of winter and started spinning i immediately thought of this HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

LIVEREAD: WAKFU, THE GREAT WAVE [TOME 1, Chapters 1-3]

I want to preemptively say that I wasn't the biggest fan of The Great Wave, while reading it originally. It had less to do with the contents of the comic, and more with the pacing — it's written in a very... webtoon-unfriendly way. Every week I'd wait, and then not much would happen.

I am hoping it will be less exhausting to read this comic this time, but there just isn't a lot that happens in it. It's quite sad, really.

Now that I am done with the "hey, I am not the biggest fan of the way this was executed, at least in this tome" warning, I want to say that I actually really like the idea of a tragic story. Like fuck yesss. With all the amount of foreshadowing we got, we deserve to see how Yugo's good intentions are going to bring disaster.

I will be honest, the day this dropped I went to discord and everyone was screaming "THEY ADDED PORN TO WAKFU" and then when I was finally able to read the comic after someone finally pirated and sent it to me, I saw the world's shortest scene of intimacy between a married couple.

Normal world.

Anyway: STOP FUCKING WHILE WEARING THE WORLD-ENDING MAGICAL NUKES ON YOU.

MAN, I predicted Grougalorasalar using emotionally manipulative language that's pretty much "you're a fraud, you're amoral, DIE" in nightmarish visions sent to people ages before this manga happened, in my fanfic. And I was so giddy — because I love the idea of 'Salar torturing people like that, and because it means I got something right without having too much data to back it up!

First Joris war criminal arc, then Salar emotional abuse via nightmare visions arc... How is my taste so similar to Tot's??

I think it's very funny for Salar to be moralizing now. My brother in crepinjurgening, you were trying to resurrect your lizard son by shattering his soul forever and bringing him unimaginable suffering so that you can go commit more war crimes together?

Then again, his war crimes had virtually no chance of ending the world. I suppose it's natural for a Black Fire dragon to understand the sort of danger Yugo presents — the fact that they may all end up the same way the Necro world is...

I guess his morals are as weird as Joris's (world ending = bad, war crimes = sometimes good if they do those themselves?). Similarities are only to be expected, since they influenced and changed one-another irrevocably.

Noble factions trembled in fear or coveted his wealth, the lower class revering him akin to the Gods. Gojo Satoru. The name alone sounded deadly, goosebumps trailing one's skin.

Gojo Satoru rose up in ranks quickly due to his sheer strength; legend has it that he was born with the Divine Power of the Gods.

Every 20 years an individual was bestowed with the Divine Power of the Gods. The powers varied for each individual: there was the power of healing, immense strength, wielding fire, shape shifting, immortality, forming force fields, astral projection, regeneration, clairvoyance, and speed; each of the powers representative of the Gods. In Gojo's case however, the day that he was born, legends say that the Gods were clashing amongst one another resulting in Gojo being born with not one Divine Power but five: astral projection, clairvoyance, forming force fields, speed, and immense strength.

He was known as the emperor's sword. When the former emperor Rion of Novaland heard of Gojo's birth, he sought the boy out and trained him under the intense tutelage of the imperial knights where they were able to tap in to all of his powers. Once Emperor Rion heard news of this, he swiftly sent the then 15-year old to lead the Novaland imperial knights to numerous battles under the guise of defending Novaland. News of Gojo's victories spread throughout the land and beyond causing Rion's enemies to quiver in fear, forcing them to either pledge allegiance to Novaland or become victims of being conquered. He agreed to become the emperor's sword with the promise of earning his own land and the title of Duke.

All Gojo knew was war and blood so when Yaga ascended the throne, through the overthrowing of Rion, Yaga taught him that there was more to life than war. As promised Gojo earned his title, land, and new friends through Yaga's right hand man/scholar Geto Suguru and mage Shoko Ieiri.

*Current day*

The sound of swords clashing against one another could be heard throughout the courtyard. To the naked eye, all could be seen was a blur of white hair and his opponent being knocked on their ass, sword being pressed to the opponent's chest. "Satoru." Gojo sheathed his sword and made his way to the raven haired, circular spectacles man standing in the shadow. "You should be getting ready for the ball tonight. You don't have time to be practicing with your sword-"

"Suguru, you sound like my nagging wife." This comment caused Suguru to blush a little, Satoru smirking at the effect he had on the beautiful scholar. Suguru cleared his throat, continuing with, "Well maybe if you listened to Yaga, I wouldn't have to nag you." Satoru stuck his tongue out as they walked down the corridor. They walked in comfortable silence, each preoccupied with their own thoughts. Satoru couldn't believe how much he changed under the guidance of Yaga: he was still stoic and aloof, but when he was surrounded by Suguru, Shoko, or Yaga he turned into a playful teenager; that right having been stripped from him being on the battlefield since he was 15. They didn't mind it though; in fact they welcomed Satoru's playfulness. The only time he crossed the line was when he mixed up the potions in Shoko's lab and it ended up causing a huge explosion; since then he has been banned from going near the potions. He reveled in the change of pace: from being constantly on edge to being relaxed. Yaga had promised him that he would no longer have to yield the title of being the emperor's sword, unless it was absolutely necessary, that that's what Shoko was intended for. "The only thing I need you to focus on Satoru is to find a wife." Wife. He scoffed at the word. Who in their right mind would send their daughter to marry the emperor's sword? Even after years passed, Satoru noticed that people would flinch or either flee at the sight of him. He convinced himself that it was ok but still felt a pang when he experiences it.

"What are you thinking about?" Suguru's question bringing him out of his reverie. Satoru crossed his hands behind his back answering with, "How Yaga keeps holding these pointless balls in order for me to settle down."

"It's not pointless Satoru. We're forming alliances with neighboring countries while trying to get you to find a suitable bride."

"So why doesn't Yaga pester you?" Suguru brought his right hand to the left side of his chest, bowing, saying, "I am but a lowly scholar. My title dictates whether I will be lucky enough to be wed." Satoru stood there silently staring at the man bowed before him. He knew Suguru was right; being a scholar/the emperor's right hand man dictated that Suguru may have a fling or two but his loyalty is to the emperor. Satoru sighed. "Don't worry beautiful. I'll be there at the ball."

You were staring out the window of the carriage as your father and stepmother were lecturing you about your etiquette. "Y/N!" the shouting of your name snapped you out of your daydream. "Huh?"

"Have you listened to a single word we said?" your father shrieked. Your stepmother flapped her fan open covering her mouth as she noted, "Tsk. Such a disobedient daughter." You clutched at the fabric of your gown tightly wanting to explode. You already knew why you were being sent to the ball: your father being a marquess of a small land was looking to expand financially and politically. You were his ticket. Having already made your debut into society, you were known to be reckless, a free spirit. What was meant to be you defending another noble woman against her abusive husband spun into you being nosy, impulsive. Do you regret stepping in? Of course not. Your mother's last words was to always strive for justice regardless of the cost.

Your father began rubbing at his temples. "What am I going to do with you Y/N?"

"Father, you have nothing to fear. I will act like the perfect doll juuust for you." A slap across your right cheek reverberated throughout the carriage, your stepmother gasping behind her fan. "Is this some kind of sick game to you?!" your father fumed. "If only it was you and not your mother who was taken away!"

"Shh," your stepmother chided him, rubbing his forearm. "That's enough dear." You could feel the tears pooling at the corner of your eyes threatening to spill over. You wouldn't give these people the satisfaction. You straightened your back peering ahead when your stepmother continued with, "Who knows, she'll probably catch the attention of Duke Gojo. He's an eligible bachelor, has an expanse of land, and is known for...taming unruly animals."

"Unruly animal?" you scoffed. "You should speak for yourself. Have you no pride or shame? Crawling into a mourning man's bed before the mourning period is over?" Another slap reverberated throughout the carriage, this time your stepmother fuming, shaking. "You're just as unruly as HER." Since your mother's passing, neither your father or stepmother referred to her by her name Luciana. You were ready to rip the pearls that adorned your stepmother's hair when your father put himself between she and you. "Y/N stop it this instant! Marilyn has been nothing but sweet to you stepping in since your mother died."

"You never call mom by her name anymore! You act like she never existed! As if she's a ghost!" Your father paused as the carriage came to a halt, an abrupt knock letting you all know that you have arrived at the palace. Your father shook his head, hoping to clear his guilty conscious after your harsh words pierced his heart. "Come out when you're ready." He replied. "Don't forget to fix your makeup." your stepmother proffered.

Gojo was internally fidgeting. He hated social events like these. He could tolerate being at death's door but what he could not stand was the stares, whispers. "All hail Emperor Yaga!" The attendees all stopped to bow or curtsy shouting, "Greetings to the star of Novaland", as he made his way to his seat, Suguru standing to the right of him. "Thank you all for attending this ball. I hope that this ball serves as a wonderful memory for you all. Let us enjoy the fesitivities! May the Divine Power of the Gods bless and be with you!"

"May the Divine Power of the Gods bless and be with you!" the music resumed and senseless chatter began to fill the air. "Duke Gojo." Yaga's booming voice greeted him as he took his seat. "Greetings to the star of Novaland. May the Divine Power of the Gods bless and be with you." he bowed. Yaga dismissed Gojo stating, "You don't have to be so formal."

"In a formal setting such as this one must oblige."

"Hm. Have you found anyone to your liking?"

"I have not Emperor Yaga."

"At least go and socialize. Dance. Be happy. Try to smile a little." Satoru looked to Suguru for help but was disappointed when he saw Suguru stifling his laughter. Yaga dismissed Satoru with a wave of his hand. He reluctantly dragged his feet grabbing a glass of champagne on his way to "socialize".

You lost track of how many glasses of champagne you had, only 3 of the nobles had asked you to dance and you reluctantly agreed. You caught a glimpse of your father and stepmother making their way around each table, trying to strike a deal of some sort. You scoffed at how pathetic they looked and gulped down another source of bubbly. With each glass, the taste became sweeter, causing you to almost forget about the earlier events. How dare they look down on you and your mother? It's not like saying Luciana was hard. Where was the man that fought injustice alongside Luciana? The man whose fire and passion for injustices was just as brazen as Luciana? Scoffing and downing another glass, you realized that that man had died along with your mother. That man, known as your father, is no where to be found. You grabbed the tray of glasses from the waiter saying, "I'll take these thank yoooouuu."

"Miss, at least allow me to carry it to your table."

"You can bring it out to the balcony that's fine." The cold air hit your face causing you to let out a breath you hadn't realized you were holding. You began humming to yourself when you sensed another presence. You turned and nearly dropped your jaw and champagne. This man was breathtaking. You took in his tall stature, broad shoulders, white hair, and beautiful, cerulean eyes. "Forgive me. I did not realize there was someone occupying this space." He bowed indicating his leaving when you stopped him; unsure of whether it was the alcohol or your loneliness that forbid him to go. "No, no! Stay! You can stay." You mentally facepalmed yourself at the fact you demanded him to stay as if he was a dog. He gently smiled and came to stand beside you. He noticed the tray with 12 champagne glasses asking, "Are one of these for me?" you were in the middle of drinking another one when you motioned with your eyes that yes he could take one. He chuckled asking, "If I may be so forward why are you out here instead of inside enjoying the party?"

"Pft. What's there to enjoy? My father and stepmother only agreed to come to the ball because I'm their ticket to wanting to expand."

"Who's your father?"

"Marquess Hamilton," you took another glass from the tray and chugged that one. "Wanna know the sad thing though? My dad is trying to marry me off to Duke Gojo." Gojo paused at that, instinctively feeling his hand clench around the glass. Here it comes. He thought to himself. The rumors and the fear. "Is that so?" he asked.

"Yeah but I don't even know him, let alone what he looks like." Gojo spit the champagne out due to him laughing causing you to glare at him. "Stop laughing at me. I genuinely wanted to meet him."

"My apologies. I'm just trying to understand why you want to meet him. Haven't you heard the rumors? How he's a monster hellbent on war?" You stood there in silence, with your head down, cheeks rosy, Gojo worried that you may have passed out standing up until he heard a low, "Forgive my language kind sir but fuck the rumors!" Gojo was surprised by your outburst taking a step back. "How dare these people call him a monster! What right do they have to judge someone huh?! Were they out on the battlefield?! Were they born with the Divine Power of the Gods?! Of course not! Half of these swines and cads wish they had a portion of what Duke Gojo has! And the most infuriating part about these said rumors is that they haven't even heard his side of the story! So how can they judge someone so easily without even trying to listen?!" You stood there trying to catch your breath, your hands shaking. Gojo stood there amazed, happy. There was someone who actually wanted to get to know his side. Due to the tightness of your corset and the copious amounts of alcohol, you began to feel light headed and began swaying to the side. "Whoa there," Gojo caught you pulling you towards him. He peered down and brushed a piece of hair out of your face, hearing that you had fallen asleep. He chuckled as he picked you up bridal style. I have to marry this woman. I'll get her out of her father's clutches and then I'll marry her. He carried you back into the ball, this time no longer feeling uncomfortable with all the peering eyes, announcing to emperor Yaga that he had found his bride.

i was looking forward to the first fr.st so much but it's so bad 😭😭😭 my sister's tired of listening to me complain about it, so i have to post my 95 theses here:

instead of being a filmic adaptation of a webtoon, it's literally just a webtoon in film format--meaning that the same editing, pacing, framing, etc. that you'd see in a webtoon (a 2 dimensional format), we're getting in a tv show, so everything feels flat.

the specific aesthetics the show prioritizes makes it...loser-ish. for example, the scene where they're in school running on the track--every other girl has her hair in a ponytail but lead girl has her hair loose. huh? who goes running during gym class and doesn't tie up their hair? her, because the show is more focused on her illustrating certain elements of femininity or "womanhood" (long hair, rape-able, easily bullied, small) than on representing even a modicum of realism. another example: when she's practicing ballet back in high school. first of all, ballet dancers would practice in a group, with an instructor. she would have friends who also do ballet. ballet is not a lone sport, hello??? 😭😭😭😭 second of all (and this goes back to the editing), one cut shows her en point in pointe ballet shoes, and then it cuts to her still dancing, but 😭😭😭 in SOFT TOED 😭😭😭 ballet shoes--cause the actress isn't a ballet dancer. like 😭😭😭 why would you do that to her.

speaking of! the show does something i deeply hate, which is cast someone very thin and with no apparent athleticism to play a person interested in something that requires you to have a body type that doesn't simply prioritize thinness--ballet dancers are jacked! they have to hold their entire bodies up on their toes for whole performances, they have to dance and leap and twirl and all kinds of shit. they're athletic!

bjt needs to play a character with a real job. in you are my hero he was a super cop; in new life begins he was a gvt official-prince; in reset he was a game developer. here he co-owns a gastro pub, so he does nothing all day and has nothing to say or think about. he just stares at lead girl all day (which i actually like, cause i'm a sap) and acts like a child.

why is every other man trying to rape her. like what is the reason. (we know the reason. she's a woman, which means she's rape-able.)

similarly, why is every other woman bullying her. like what is the reason. the whole point of becoming an adult is that you can somewhat choose who to have in your life and how to treat people who don't treat you the way you want them to. the whole point of being an adult is...YOU CAN LEAVE. she's an adult but she has none of the perks/joys/freedoms of being one. it's like the story just took the constraints of high school and transferred them to an adult life like 😭😭😭 that's not how it works, high school is literally just high school. (this is like that post that talks about how you can tell when fanfiction is written by adults cause they know how much everything costs.)

I've wanted to make a webcomic for like a dozen years. Inspired by the stuff on smackjeeves. (Yeah that relic) Like, hey, I'm an amateur artist but I have no story idea and I have geometry proofs to write. But I have an idea now, maybe not the most action packed and unique idea, but it's different and slow paced.

I want to make a webcomic with Harvey and Camellia, you know them, you love them, it already has a name, Grow as We Go. It's basically the cutesy, wholesome stuff I've already been posting, but now it will be actually cohesive. Chronological. Canon.

I just want to cement them down in a consumable way, cause I love my characters, I rattle them in my brain daily, but their stories are fit for different mediums. ArtPG, Wiwi and the Golden Acorn, and Meanie Greenies are fit for actual video games pacing and mechanics, Grow As We Go has the pacing of a webtoon, the composition of the long pages will really emphasize the flow of time and recovery, and Find Eli is also a webcomic whose timeline will merge with Grow As We Go. I just have a lot of ideas that's hard to pin down and actually work on because of the ADHD--and it stinks. A dozen years! I coulda started making comics in high school, but noooooo, I had to do homework and play Super Smash Brothers Brawl.

I'd love to hear any thoughts you guys have, does a slow paced comic sound interesting to you? Just a cozy, wholesome webcomic to follow whenever you like. Like not even weekly updates, I want the time to really feel like it's passing in real life alongside the comic. Thank you~

So with the way that I talk about Katsuki and MHA, you’d think that I see myself as some sort of armchair critic, someone who constantly has to pick apart everything about whatever media I consume. Oddly enough, that’s not really true. I know how to turn my brain off and enjoy something. I know how to get so wrapped up in something that I don’t notice any inconsistencies. I know how to simply allow suspension of disbelief to take over and let myself have fun. So why do I struggle with MHA?

Let me describe a Video Game I love: Fire Emblem Awakening. Awakening’s perhaps the most popular Fire Emblem game in the series alongside 3 Houses. Despite this, Awakening does have some glaring flaws. The gameplay isn’t as polished as some of the previous and newer games, parts of the story do drag on, and some lore related stuff are just glossed over. What makes Awakening such a beloved game? Well, despite the flaws of the gameplay, they aren’t enough to hinder the overall experience unless you’re an elitist. The world and most of the characters are all super charming, fun, and deceptively well written. Though the game does take a lighter tone most of the time, when it wants to take itself seriously, it will without making it seem awkward. For those who aren’t aware of Awakening, it was meant to be the last Fire Emblem title and it was meant to serve as a celebration of the Fire Emblem franchise. It does all of this fantastically. Despite a basic story and some hiccups in the gameplay, Awakening’s strong points have such a big presence that it makes the game great to play and even to this day it has a big fandom for a game that was released 10+ years ago.

MHA struggles with its tone. It doesn’t know when it wants to be good ol’ superhero fun or if it wants to be this philosophical discussion about heroics and heroes. Moments that shouldn’t be played for laughs are and vice versa. So much things are introduced into the world that when something becomes big, it feels smaller than it should be. Things that should’ve happened a long time ago only happen now and things that shouldn’t have happened persist in the story with no real reason as to why they should happen. Characters come and go, playing no real role, especially those who should have a bigger role, while characters who should’ve taken the backseat a while ago are hogging the spotlight. Some people might say that due to us following MHA in real time, the pacing may seem slower than it actually is and it’ll make a lot more sense once everything’s published and read in one sitting. This excuse doesn’t sit right with me cause I’ve read Webtoons that have weekly updates and were still able to maintain the pace of their story, where I actively looked forwards to reading the next update and seeing how all the pieces fit together. Sure, they may have had slower parts where the story’s just playing with its side characters, but even then, the story is consistently written well to the point where I’ve eagerly kept up with the journey even when my favorite characters weren’t front and center.

To look at an example of MHA’s awkward focus and pacing, let’s look at the most recent chapter. Katsuki’s alive now, and while you might think I’d focus on this, I already knew he was coming back so I’m not going to rant about that. I wanna turn my focus to AFO. AFO’s someone who shouldn’t have this much influence on the story anymore. Reason why? The series was building Tomura up to be the new big bad. Whereas Izuku was going to become All Might’s successor, Tomura was becoming AFO’s successor. Suddenly though, Hori introduces the idea that AFO can just possess people and Tomura suddenly becomes a puppet. Yeah, Tomura was being manipulated by AFO before, but he was finally developing beyond AFO’s influence to become his own villain. All that character development thrown down the drain. Sure, Tomura eventually becomes free from the possession and is fighting Izuku for his own reasons now, but AFO’s hogged up enough of the spotlight doing nothing of importance that I don’t really care for Tomura vs Izuku anymore. Keep in mind that after a ton of chapters we still know Jack shit about AFO except that he’s a power hungry person and had a brother. At this point going over his backstory would be an info dump.

There’s also the issue of AFO’s character in general, and that’s being a physical obstacle for the heroes. Now, there’s nothing wrong with a character existing solely to be a physical obstacle, but you have to pace them well or else they end up like AFO, a character who somehow not only knows everything that someone can and will do, but also whip bullshit out of his ass that keeps him around longer than he needs to be. There’s nothing wrong with an OP character but AFO’s an example on why OP characters have a bad rep. It only gets worse when you remember that he should’ve stayed down so many times but for some reason he refuses to exit the story. All Might beats him and he’s still plotting. Tomura rejects him, he acts like it doesn’t matter. All Might tries to take out AFO with him, somehow AFO was able to counter that. AFO should’ve handed the spotlight to Tomura, but he instead persists on stealing it all for himself.

Anyways, I just wanted to rant some more on MHA’s pacing. Thank you all for reading 😂.

it’s been a while, I’m still working on the monthly favorites for june and july but I wont have it done anytime soon because I’m preparing for a convention this week. Instead, you are going to get the new BL tier list with some new titles

You will see some new stuff and some rankings change from the old ones, I included titles that I have read/ remembered from reading and discarded the ones I no longer have any connection to.

most I have finished but found it under whelming, lack of character development, plot moving very slowly, not really anything spectacular.

not to say that these aren’t good in their own way but there has to be a line that separates the good stories from the ones that are okay right? some I have in my favorites are in this tier because I’m trying to be really critical when I think about the story overall now that its done...

i’ll list the series and tell you why I feel that way in case you are wondering

Painter from the window - I don’t remember much about this, the end didn’t really make sense to me and I don’t think I finished the entire story, I might have lost some interest in between

insecret - I liked the side story better than the mains story, if it was based on that this would have been higher 

Dangerous convenient store- basic story overall not a lot of interesting plot other than near the end, the pacing is okay in terms of relationship development 

Lucky paradise - pacing is slow and not a lot of development from chunwoo, which I don’t really get why he does the things he does, he really needed character development a lot sooner for me to be interested 

Secret relationships - 90% flashbacks 10 % story lol. i’m sure all bimsa fans will agree that the story took a while to move forward cause all we got was one flash back after another and no expansion on the characters in the current timeline.

Dear door - I just got bored in the middle 

My suha - season1, 2 were great in terms of plot, the last season moved really slowly and made a lot of people lose interest, there’s also a ton of misunderstanding, but that’s nothing new in BL

Hide and seek- I would put this higher if it wasn’t for the conflict being miniscule, it really does not pair well with the whole mystery behind the story. I also have not read this again after the second time so it was not very memorable. 

omega complex - good characters and development, no dumb love triangles..lol. which is the best part cause I hate those, the main guy yoonwoo was like I only like 1 person if you aren’t him don’t talk to me...lmao I appreciate it. overall it’s a short story but that’s all it is. 

MDZS - this may surprise you cause this is what got me to read BL and took over my life, but in terms of manhwa the pacing is slow and I liked the drama better than the actual webtoon

Seeing double - twins and love triangle....uh nope...I just wish there was more explanation is to how ohn ended up liking seowoo...I’m happy cause that’s my ship, but I felt there was a disconnect there when he realized his feelings...I’m like wtf ...how?

2023 CHARACTER WRAPPED

☆ Loki returns because I have mutuals who have been reblogging stories or have written masterful pieces (@/poetic-fiasco you specifically) and it made me remember my love for him.

☆ King Alfred. His character arc was wild, from him being a ho to so sexual repressed, it allowed a certain spice to be added to his every exchange with Uhtred... and I loved it.😆

☆ Lucia Aurelius [I Am The Villain, Webtoon]. I am obsessed with the art style, it is definitely my favorite comic for the year for me. It is a reused concept, but its pacing and narrative have me enthralled and I am just cheering for my girl 😭

☆ Freddie Mercury. I feel weird to place him, but it needs a mention since I dove into the BoRap fandom 5 years late and have fallen in love with this remarkable human being. This is because of his characterization by the talented Rami Malek and the literary creations by the masterful @inthedayswhenlandswerefew.

☆ Penelope Featherington. Her struggle between trying to become her own woman, while struggling with her unrequited for now crush and her own independence is relatable.

☆ Literally anyone from the One Piece live action. I am putting Mihawk cause he is pretty and cunty, but the whole damn cast, from MCs to side characters, was fucking amazing. I personally adored every episode, but please note that I have never seen the anime nor while I ever watch it as we are 1100+ episodes into it and I do not have the attention span.

☆ Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. Returning to break my heart all over again.

☆ Aemond Targaryen. We knew he would be on this damn list. I love Ewan's portrayal of him and I loved the hot mess Aemond is in Fire & Blood. I am ready for season 2, whatever may come.

☆ I am stealing this from @/lonnson and putting the Coccham Gang up as well. The Last Kingdom was my favorite series I indulged with and I have rewatched it quite a bit.

When I left home for uni I came across comics in the wild for the first time and I read a lot of batman comics, mostly in graphic novel form.

Then I moved on to Spider-Man comics at some point. Read a lot of them leading up to the end of uni. Did my dissertation on them.

Anyway, I'm trying to get back into reading comics for various reasons, not least while I enjoy webtoons, them having a near monopoly on my comic attention span is concerning.

But holy fucking shit. A lot of comics are Not Good. And I'm talking main stream superhero comics. I must have read so much fucking shit when I first got in to these things cause I would literally just walk in to a shop and pick one that sounded vaguely interesting, and when I do that now I've got this vast knowledge of excellent story lines from various countries and genres across the world, both main stream and independent. The pacing is awful, the art is questionable, the characterisation is inconsistent between pages, and the story isn't good.

There are obviously some very excellent comics in the superhero genera, and this isn't about signaling anything specific out. It's just a marvel at how young me would devour any sequential art you put in front of her and I admire her tenacity cause statistically some of that was hot garbage but I don't remember any of it being garbage, so I still got something out of it.

Working on Underlord

Issue #1 was scary.... I did not have a lot of faith in it when I started working on the story. The thing about it was that I had to be able to deliver a lot of exposition without having it drag on the story and also leaving enough information out to still have some mystery.

Took me 4 drafts to figure it out. Wrote up like 15 pages. only really used 4 of them... the issue as a whole ended up 44 pages... which is fine cause I think it turned out good. a lot of the pages were for slowing down pacing and having neat little character interactions. I didn't write a 5th draft, I just kind of made a bunch of notes on how things should play out and made things up as I went along. which was honestly freeing

my style of writing has been something I struggled to figure out since I started making comics. you'd think that just writing a script would be enough, but I get a little more leeway seeing as I'm a solo act. So I went from no script with my first comic, to a heavy script with the second, to a little mix of both for this one. I've settled on just doing a little outline where I describe what the character is doing and then write a page breakdown with dialogue. It's quick and gives me enough room to improvise when things aren't working quite how I want them to. I'm a lot happier with it.

enough about writing, Lets talk about the art side of things.

I mentioned some confidence issues in my first comic post(Though I doubt you read it...link here) and I guess doing another comic in-between that one and this helped me chill out more. going into this, I had a decent grasp of what I could do, so the main focus was on refining some of my skills and trying to push a little more. Mostly my layouts and compositions. I just wanted to be more creative and I think I handled it well enough with the regular, comic style pages.

The webtoon style ones were hit and miss I think.

so lets talk about pacing for a bit.... Pacing has been my enemy for many years. things always went by faster than I would have liked. I like it when things have time to breathe. My issue with my previous comics was that It felt like things happened a little too fast. writing definitely played a part in it, but I figured, at the time, that maybe using the regular comic format did too. so I actually would draw things normally, then copy and paste panels into the webtoons format to see if that would help. It's not bad, but it is more work. Not to mention that I'm not really used to the style, so things are here or there. I think the first/second part worked out best. the rest are decent, nothing special. At the moment, I'm wondering weather to just stick to one format or the other. That way I could plan things out better. I'll probably test it out with issue 3

Moving on. I mentioned confidence a little earlier. Confidence made me jump into this. Like I did a bit of concept art for some locations and maybe 2 or 3 characters, but for most part, things were made up on the spot and adjusted from part to part. Once again, Nice. Still think some things would work out a little better with more forethought, but I guess that's writing(???).

I changed art programs twice. Parts 1-4 were done on medibang, 5-9 were done with CSP and for the rest of it, I used procreate. each had their bonuses. I think drawing In procreate is the better of the 3, but lettering in it is kinda rough. I end wrestling with it more than I'd like. I might end up transferring pages to my pc for lettering next time. hopefully that helps.

It's nice seeing how much better I get with drawing as time went on.

I'd like to go back to the issue at some point. Cause there are a lot of easy to fix errors that bother me on re-reads. Originally, I figured I could just redraw the whole thing, But I one of the rules of webcomics is to keep moving forward. If I get to it, I'll be fixing things without erasing my old art. Fix errors and make some changes to help out with character consistency

any who, that's the ramblings of some guy you don't know on a comic He'd love for people to read. It's not the greatest, but it's mine and I'm happy to have done it. I guess next I'll ramble about issue 2 and some plans for the future

it seems like she's the only one with mind reading abilities maybe its a demon king thing? javier did mention that she has a LOT more power than she lets on so maybe theres more to it? her introduction and her request for help came VERY quick she was quick to cry and while it absolutely makes sense that its bc her people really, REALLY need help, im also wondering if there's something more to it,,, she was very fast to trust lloyd; what else does her mind reading let her see, to what extent? not saying that she's an antagonist or anything, i do believe that she wants to help her people i'm just curious at how. fast this is. though it may just be because of a pacing issue thats causing this confusion in me,,, which i will talk about later below cause i wanna get thru these panels heehee

and lastly, OUR FIRST LOOK AT THE FORMER/FIRST DEMON KING CREDOS!!! and apparently he just. stopped invading and focused on farming!!!

if you didn't already know, the author is currently publishing another webnovel set in Lorasia, and it's supposed to take place when tyrannus was a kid, basically a long LONG time ago

AND ISN'T THAT FAMILIAR? A DEMON KING WHO STOPPED INVADING AND WENT FARMING,,, THATS THE BITCH!!!

(it says here there were four heavenly demon kings here tho i wonder why they doubled HAHA)

i love love LOVE that the pieces were set up like this, idk if credos is mentioned in the novel at all but little building blocks that create bridges (however small) between works in the same universe are my favorite thing ever i like collecting those it's my favorite kind of worldbuilding thing bc it's like putting pieces together heehoo

i'll ABSOLUTELY be making a post yapping about this prequel and the Everything that is Lorasia soon, so i'll leave this off here for now :3 but just know IM VERY EXCITED/HAPPY ABOUT THIS LITTLE LORE BIT IN PARTICULAR

ok that's all the panels i wanted to talk about ,,, i was gonna dive into worldbuild yapping/speculations but again i wanna make a separate post dedicated to that

now,,, about the pacing of this episode,,, as aforementioned, it feels really, REALLY fast! it feels like we're speedrunning the build-up part of the journey, like within the episode it's like "oh we got new characters, we get to know them- oh okay yeah they're not bad people actually - oh new powerful character let's work together okay cool moving on"

and it's a shame because i really really like the art and gags for this ep, i think they're really silly and i think i could have really come to like these new characters with more time, but because we're going through this process so fast it's like,,, the setup is barely there, which makes the punchlines just short of satisfying,,,

i wanted more out of this episode, i expected something else. i haven't read the novel so i couldn't tell you how i'd adapt it or what the something i expected was but,, idk it feels like the pacing is off,,, lloyd was quick to piece together the status of the overworld demons based on their attire and behavior but i really wish it went about in a different way. i wish we could have had more time with the heavenly eight demon kings before they were just. subdued? and the two children too, are we gonna see them again? with how fast they were introduced and how fast they were set aside, i'm worried they won't show up again

i also kind of wish artanis' reveal was,,, more. i don't know how to explain what that means. maybe more ominous? more mysterious? just a little more, more hints to her character or her relationship with other characters or something,,, though maybe this is too soon and we'll see more of her later and i'll be more satisfied? i'm not totally sure

this episode just didn't hit the same, and that really upsets me because i really wanted to like this episode! i've read more manhwa than novel currently so even with it's flaws i still really like the manhwa, and i want to be able to continue liking the manhwa,,, i really hope that this pacing thing and these fast-paced bits is just within this one episode and that it'll be okay as we go forward. i really want to continue enjoying reading this!!!

it could be that the adapter is experiencing some kind of burnout, it has been quite a long time since the start of tged. i really hope they take their time with adapting the rest, i really wouldn't mind another break. if another hiatus is needed for the adapter to pace the story and the artist to draw the panels in a way that feels better or less rushed, i'd accept the hiatus fully

anyway that's all i have to say right now,,, ep 170 really feels like a gamble right now and im praying that it goes well, if i have more thoughts ill probably rb with more yapping idk

Okayyy... ....i've read TIL DEATH DO US PART a while ago and my mind went places. I've decided not to comment and just admire the work (liked and reblogged) and move on. But it was too beautiful, I was hesitant to read it at first cause the concept was (to me personally is sensitive) but decided to read anyways and my my, did I just not regret. 😍 When he said "I just want to spend my last months with you, thinking we’re just... normal. Like any other couple.” my heart sank to the floor. (Not that it wasn't smashed already when YN was left with grief and yearning). The fact that they both knew was so heartbreaking. The intensity of longing for each other and fear because of uncertainty of the future. YN putting her best efforts to at least lessen the regret and guilt of not trying for their marriage hits hard. Jake knowing what the future holds for him but still decided to focus and give her a chance even after all that happened. Though its their second chance the build up was so good and ending it with a baby on the way is just 💓💓🥺 i melted at the end (though i can still feel the lingering fear cause of the incident -it was greatly written, its embeded in my brain). It made me feel things and again, i wanna say it was beautiful. Its my first time reading your work. I hope you never loose the inspiration for writting. 💌🖤 i yap too much. Sorry 😅 🫶

Kinda felt bad for the pain I've made Y/n go through so I decided to give her a happy ending lol, that's it. Which also inspired the dialogue you mentioned.

Honestly, I keep experimenting with different plots which gives birth to something like this. As someone who watches a lot of kdramas and reads webtoons, my plot thinking literally develops from them. For this one, I had just finished reading ‘Marry my husband’ the webtoon version and it got me thinking what if it was something like that but completely different? hence the plot. And what's better than a baby on the way in the ending 😗

I kind of wanted to keep the pace slow so I believed it was slightly rushed 😬 but the fact that it still was able to bring some emotions to life is a huge compliment!!

I have come back to this already, because I decided to watch episode 5 before bed... And then couldn't stop and I finished the rest of the season all at once, very much unlike what I did up until that point. I had spread it out over a week until then. And now, it's over.

I am feeling many things, but I will pause here to simply say if you have not finished Sweet Home Season 3, and you do not want spoilers, do not read any further into this rambling post... I am about to go on a deep dive into everything I am feeling right now about this show, which will contain spoilers. So here we go...

The last half of this season left me as an absolute wreck. As I mentioned earlier in this ramble, I am one of those people who gets very emotionally attached to every aspect of the media I consume. It's what makes me so picky about the things that I do watch, read, etc. I have loved this show since the very beginning, and I will be restarting the show very soon to be able to watch it all the way through now that it is over. It is this fondness and habit of getting attached to characters that left me crying for over half of this season.

I had originally set a slow pace taking in this final season, maybe an episode a day for a while, even going so far as sometimes only watching half of an episode a day to make it last. I never wanted this show to end for me. I've been like this since the first season came out. I was immediately attached to the characters and the story that was unfolding before me, especially since I had no background knowledge of the Webtoon. (Maybe I should look into finding that somewhere to read it as well...) I wanted to make this final season last as long as possible because I never wanted the story to end. And then the last half happened, and instead I found myself sobbing, gasping for air at the end of each episode and pressing 'next episode' before I even knew what I was doing. Maybe that was the monster in me. (Awful joke, I know, but that is also an intrinsic part of who I am. Overly emotional and a lover of awful jokes. Glad you're getting to know me.)

Seeing so many characters that I have loved for three seasons now get torn away from me caused me so much heartache. I was crying so hard I got a headache, I wish whoever might read this could know how serious I am. Four hours straight of me begging the people on the screen to stay and crying into the sleeve of my hoodie. I should be embarrassed. I'm not, I'm simply in awe of how this show made me feel. I love media that makes me feel something (though I admit again that this isn't hard to do with who I am).

Seeing Seo Yi-Su seemingly revert back to the same rage-filled child that we saw throughout season 2 after what happened to Yi-Kyung felt both so real and so helpless. I wanted to scream at her to breathe, to learn from everything she had experienced and not do anything she may regret. Until that moment with Yeong-su. The moment he began to pull the chains free I started to cry, and when she stepped forward claiming she could give him what he wanted, I was pleading with a child through a screen to stop what she was doing and not take him from me. To not take him from Jin-ok. After that, for at least a little while, I found myself losing a bit of my empathy for her as a character. And then the more people she brought to her side through Monsterization all I could think of was how many were going to die because of her. However, that was simply fixed by the fact that they were not all killed. (questionable choice in my opinion for fitting the story I don't understand why they survived Nam Sang-won/Sang-wook's attack but I'm sure that was something that my sob-exhausted brain just overlooked.)

I was looking for Yeong-su every moment after that, begging Hyun-su to bring him back when they "met" in the wreckage over Yi-su's wounded body and every moment before and after. I was truly not okay about the Monsterization of Yeong-su. (And believe me, I was already bad enough off as it was when we had the baseball scene in which he gifted Yi-su the badge that Han Du-sik had made for Su-Yeong. The tears I have cried over that little boy are wild honestly).

Of course I loved the narrative seen with Seok-chan and Young-hoo every moment of their companionship made me happy and I will forever remember Seok-chan so fondly as one of my favorites from the show (Not saying much, everyone is my favorite except for Ye-Seul I couldn't stand her the whole time). I also really loved the story and character arc seen with Tak In-hwan and even the Monsterization as I felt it made a lot of sense.

However, there were a few things I wish had been a little different. Which only makes me love the story more because I think I wanted a little more of a happy ending in some ways (and loved getting sadness instead) and in some ways wanted more clarity and angst (where I instead got heroism and questions?). Personally, I would have loved for Yun Ja-Yeong to get to see Kang Seokchan as a neohuman but that was just me wanting a happier ending for her I think. I really liked the narrative of her wanting to protect him. And then I wanted to see the plan that Eun-hyeok presented to Hyun-su about how to kill Sang-won actually play through. But then suddenly Sang-wook was back again and none of that had to happen? I felt that the forced suicide was a bit confusing and I still do not understand why Sang-wook's body came back? Wasn't it just burned? But then suddenly I'm looking at my favorite character of the entire series again and he is suddenly fighting back against a parasitic half-monster and... I don't know that whole section felt a little confusing and anti-climactic to me I won't lie.

Anyways, this is where I am going to stop the rambling about this show for now, until I do a re-watch and can ramble with more clarity because I think my brain is still a bit scrambled from the nonstop crying over this season for the last four hours finishing it up and then mourning the fact that it is over.

Yes I am aware that I am overly emotional about a tv show, but I love that about myself and I would never change it for the world I love getting attached to things like this and loving them as deeply as I do.

Rambling about Sweet Home Season 3

I am only on episode four so please excuse me as I have not finished the third season and I will be adding to this ramble as I go... I'm really just screaming into the void, I just made this blog and I doubt anyone will see this anyways, so...

Are you kidding me with this third season, I have been obsessed with every single episode so far and I am already planning to rewatch from season one the moment I finish it so I can write a bunch of shit that no will ever read.

I am so drawn in by the dialogue this season it isn't even funny even though I have reached the point in my Korean studies where sometimes all I can do is stare at the translated subtitles like "what the hell how did they decide that would be the translation" though I find myself regularly liking both versions and it's a little confidence booster in my language learning journey. There are times where the dialogue is so heavy between characters that I get so absorbed I find myself holding my breath and gasping for air after certain conversations.

My favorite thing when watching shows by myself is talking to myself and to the characters and believe me I have been screaming at everyone this season so far. I think I am so in shock that I don't even really have any tangible thoughts to put here I guess I just wanted to make the space available to myself to ramble whenever I do finally get my thoughts together about this damned show.

I am also definitely the type to get way too emotionally attached to tv shows and characters in them (I have zero emotional regulation, I love it here) and I have found myself ugly sobbing through almost every episode already and I love it so much. I love getting overly attached to the storylines of characters on a screen I will never be shy about this side of me. And are you kidding me it is just proof of how well some of the characters were written and developed and I love them all so much in so many different ways and wow I can't wait to finish this season just to restart from the beginning and fall in love all over again and keep rambling silly little thoughts into the void of this blog.
