📓?

send me a 📓 and i'll explain the plot of a fic i haven't written but i daydream about!

i think i've talked about this before but i have a pretty fleshed-out idea for a freaky friday/bodyswap au where jon reads a leitner that causes he and martin to switch bodies. this is also one i was going to do for rqbb before i decided it would be too involved and discarded it.

i don't think i've decided yet how they get back to normal, but it's one of those where destroying the book will do the job but because the book is a leitner of the stranger, it's able to camouflage itself as other books and so they're having a hard time finding it. meanwhile, jon and martin's memories are slowly bleeding into one another, and they find a statement that indicates that, if left unchecked, the end result of the leitner is that they become (in mind, at least) basically the same person, with the same set of memories and no memory of who they used to be as individual people. we love a good deadline!

i've got a bunch of little scenes i want to do, so i played with the idea of doing this vignette-style or series-style so i didn't have to worry so much about transitions and little details (it's already taking place during a nebulous 'everyone is alive but it's also not season one' time frame). some of the scenes i want to do are:

- eventually, jon and martin get together and kiss while they're still bodyswapped

- something comes up with martin's mom and jon has to pretend very convincingly to be martin while also dealing with martin's mom

- martin sleeps and eats and drinks water while in jon's body, because he likes taking care of jon, and now it's easy! jon reluctantly takes better care of himself because technically it's not his body and it's just on loan, and because martin asked him very nicely to please take care of it

- elias Knows but is being deliberately obtuse and elias about it all. this is played up for full comedic potential.

- tim and sasha are both having existential crises about how attractive the whole situation is

- these existential crises are amped up to eleven when, after getting in an argument, martin shows up to work the next day wearing jon's uni clothing. jon gets back at him the next day by wearing martin's extremely cottagecore and extremely floral clothing to work. tim and sasha are in shambles.

- martin steals one of his own sweaters and puts it on and is like 'huh. is this what it's like to steal your partner's clothing? i like it'

- body positivity!! martin makes a comment about not being fond of his stretch marks and jon is like 'oh i actually think those are... kind of nice' and jon says something about how he's always been too scrawny and short and martin is like 'actually i... i kind of like it?'

i so do want to write this but knowing me it will be at least 100k words and that's a bit of a project haha....

Em’s 2000 Followers Milestone Pt. 1: Follow Forever!

These people are truly some of the kindest, friendliest, sweetest, most compassionate, and most intelligent individuals that I’ve ever met in my life. I am so thankful for the relationships that I’ve been able to form with all of you thus far and I hope that throughout all of the hardships and distractions that life throws our way, we can continue to be a part of each other’s lives as something more than just Internet pals or mutual fans of the HTTYD franchise--but as real friends--no matter the distance between us.

A special thank you to all of my buddies in bold! You’ve been such great friends to me through everything from daily school stress to fun times freaking out over HTTYD! If I could walk through this computer screen and give you all hugs I would do it in a heartbeat! I really do cherish our friendships that we’ve been able to foster and I could honestly go on for hours about what I love about each and everyone of you but I’m not going to make you sit through all of that sappiness (yet). Hopefully I’ll be able to deliver all those hugs in person someday! But for now, I love you guys and I hope you have an amazing day!

Top 5 Books

1. The Foxhole Court - Mafia meets sports meets queer romance meets trauma recovery. It would take too long to list my favorite moments from this series.

2. The Raven Cycle - Modern fantasy-ish, ft. dead Welsh kings, lucid dreaming, psychics, and ley lines. I have a signed copy of the last book and it’s my most prized possession.

3. Song of Achilles - Greek tragedy, but make it gayer (written by a historian!) Really highlights my love of tragedies and also the inherent tenderness of growing up together with the one you love.

4. Red, White, and Royal Blue - Enemies-to-lovers romance between the son of the president of the United States and an English prince. I read this whole book in one sitting and would gladly do so again.

5. Captive Prince - This one is a bit more on the explicit side of things. One prince gets usurped in a coux and sold to the other prince as a slave. This book comes with a lot of cw, but it’s actually quite a compelling romance as well as a compelling war/regency plot, which I love.

(Honorable mention: I’m sure 13 Storeys will end up on this list if I ever actually get around to reading it.)
