The LYMPHATIC SYSTEM does not have an internal pump (like the way the heart moves our blood) it relies on MOVEMENT to create a "muscle pump" effect. This time of year i like to focus on the LYMPHATIC system as a way to improve our ability to fight off those winter bugs! The first thing i do when i start to feel a scratchy throat...lymphatic drainage to the neck, face and armpits (i will show you in the next post). πŸ’₯Then i bump up my hydration, and take as many little movement breaks as i can throughout the day.πŸ’₯ I remind myself to take a few deep belly breaths to mobilize the lymph in the abdominal area & then i make sure i find 5-10 minutes for a deep relaxation (usually with my legs up on the couch) followed by a solid night of SLEEP ...πŸ’₯ Those are the things that support our LYMPHATIC system & remove the obstacles that make it challenging for our immune system to do its job! πŸ’₯This often ignored or forgotten system can help you to get through the winter & take better care of yourself! 😊 πŸ’₯NOTICE how alot of these things are found in YOGA already??
