ZENDAYA at the CFDA Awards on November 10th 2021 wearing VERA WANG
Zendaya was honored with the Fashion Icon Award at this years CFDA Awards. She’s the youngest receiving EVER. Previous winners include Rihanna, Beyoncé, and Naomi Campbell; so she’s in some excellent company.
Zendaya always surprises me with her look, so I was pleasantly surprised by this outfit. My absolute favorite part is her hair. I love her hair in these braids, it just really adds some glamour and elegance to the outfit. I love the length and think they’re look just stunning.
I love the red color. It’s a bold color that makes her stand out. It looks beautiful with her skin tone. I also feel like we haven’t seen a lot of her outfits in this bold red, so very nice to see.
I’m not 100% a fan of the skirt and top. I think it fits her really well and she pulls off the outfit, but I don’t know if I like that her torso is completely exposed. I feel like it makes the outfit less sophisticated. I do like the double skirt kinda feature.
Overall, Congrats to Zendaya and Law Roach on this achievement! I always look forward to what Zendaya wears to events. She’s definitely been a heavy hitter the last few years and it’s cool to see her get these accolades and praise.

The first Monday of May belongs to a spectacular Met Gala exhibition, but not this year. Met Gala joins the long list of long-expected events that got indefinitely postponed due to coronavirus. But the grace and glory of the fashion event of the year is not completely lost.
What we definitely lost was the original date of May 4th. As usual, the guest list was a top-secret and all we knew was the theme of 2020 Met Gala.
The inspiration for this years theme was a movie based on Virginia Woolf’s novel Orlando.
About Time: Fashion and Duration
Tumblr media
I believe nothing could ever top the brilliance of the 2018 Met Gala Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, but About time could get very close.
That one will forever be a top peak of fashion exhibition in my opinion. It was perfectly fit to my liking: aka symbolism, glitter, sparks, and elements edging with tackiness.
It was a year Rihanna confirmed her greatness and became our pope and a year Blake Lively elevated her status to a goddess with a robe one would die for.
Tumblr media
About Time: Fashion and Duration gives me super high expectations. Just imagine the waistcoats and petticoats implemented into 21-century designer pieces. The sophistication and pomposity of 18-19 century fashion presented on the red carpet. The imagination could run wild with a history of fashion as a topic.
Met Museum celebrates the 150th anniversary by presenting a chronological timeline of fashion through the decades’ form 1870-2020.
Besides the celebrities show off and social media topic of the day, the Met Gala is a celebration of art. The fashion exhibition was planned to be divided into two sections this year. The first section was about to be all black looks portrait of an 1870-2020 fashion timeline. The other section would be all-white outfits with pops of colour in chronological order.
See the Costume Institute’s New (Though Postponed) Show About Time Preview in HERE.
Met Gala Monday would not happen as we are used to but it’s still happening of sorts.
On Monday the 4th at 6 pm EST we’re all invited to join “A moment with the Met” live streaming on youtube by VOGUE hosted by Anna Wintour. We can look forward to live performance by my favourite Florence and the Machine, and a DJ set from Virgil Abloh.
To commemorate Monday’s occasion VOGUE will make a donation to both Met Costume Institue and a Common Thread– CFDA/VOGUE Fashion found for COVID-19 relief and you can donate as well.
More about Common Thread in HERE.
It’s often overlooked but Met Gala is in fact a GALA for a good cause.
Tumblr media
With days left leading to the original Met gala 2020 date, you can be part of the Gala yourself in the form of an internet challenge. I hate most of the corona challenges that are circling the internet but this one is awesome and it’s hosted by one and only Billy Porter, a fashion icon and a star of Met Galas.
#MetGalaChallegne is quite simple: Recreate your favourite Met Gala look, post it on a social media with a hashtag #metgalachallenge. Billy Porter and Vogue will be choosing a top looks to an Instagram highlight and the winners will be featured on @voguemagazine, @metmuseum, and @metcostumeinstitute Instagram pages.
That’s pretty neat.
My favourite so far is sanja_nestorovic_ from NYC who’s going wild with recreating some of the top Met Gala looks:
#gallery-0-9 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-9 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-0-9 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-9 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Even celebrities themselves are joining the challenge just like Mindy Kaling making and her Jared Leto look.
#gallery-0-10 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-10 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-0-10 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-10 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
If you’re looking for an inspiration check out this 33 wildly creative looks to recreate.
Even though we’ll have to wait some more for the full experience of About Time: Fashion and Duration, I have a strong feeling the wait will be worth it.

Okay, I saw the tag on your recent post...I want to know your top Met looks of all time!
SCREEEEEECH THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT POST OF MY LIFE THANK YOU.
Disclaimer: I have to divide this into “awards” otherwise I will die trying to choose. Hahaha.
Disclaimer 2: Cole and Lili are obviously up there for me, but I’m gonna leave them out for the sake of this countdown.
1. Weird and Wonderful: Solange, 2015.
Tumblr media
Solange and Rihanna have been in constant competition these past few years for the Met Gala MVP (with Zendaya now arguably poised to pip them at the post). Rihanna is forever my girl, and she will always get all the accolades, but while she’s a chart-topping single, Solange is a jazz suite - intricate and elaborate and complex and a little odd. She’s not afraid of leaning into the weird, in fact she thrives on it, and this structural Giles dress is a great example of that.
2. Vintage Icon: SJP and Alexander Mcqueen, 2006
Tumblr media
Look. As much as I love SH, I don’t know if any pair could top this combination of pure star power: Sarah Jessica Parker and the late, great Alexander Mcqueen. Please, please, please research Mcqueen if you can. Please look up his impact on fashion, and SJP’s, and see why this was the perfect storm. More than a look, this was a moment.
3. Princess Moment: Claire Danes, 2016.
Tumblr media
Look. This is just picking a straight-up winner and I’m not even embarrassed about it. I gasped when this made its debut on the carpet. Posen’s signature pleats and drapes set off the shimmery tech perfectly, and it was just a beautiful way to show off Claire Danes while Homeland was still having a moment. Insanely stunning.
4. Best Male: Chadwick Boseman, 2018
Tumblr media
My love for Chadwick is well-documented on this blog. I nearly cried over this last year, because it was just so perfect - the culmination of Black Panther’s dream run and a playful, brilliant take that was, sure, a little on-the-nose but a wonderful sign for men’s fashion. Chadwick’s outfit is like, hey, we sure as hell can have fun, too. This makes me really look forward to what the men have in store this year!
5. On Theme But Super Pretty: Sienna Miller, 2013
Tumblr media
Keeping in mind that this was the year that Gwyneth Paltrow turned up in a stupid freaking PINK DRESS for a PUNK-THEMED GALA, I remember having such affection for this look because it was just so effortless, requiring no backbending to fit into theme. Just look at it - it’s punk princess turns up to the Met. That’s it. Nothing takes away from the gloriousness of that jacket, but everything somehow adds to it. This gets prettier every year that I look back at it.
6. Shutting It Down: Rihanna, 2015
Tumblr media
The year was 2015. None of us had any idea that we would soon be surrendering all of our hard-earned money to the sportswear, beauty and lingerie empire of FENTY. Rihanna hadn’t realised “ANTI” yet, arguably her best album ever. She was an emerging force in fashion, but it wasn’t until her 2014 CFDA Swarovski-only outfit that we all kinda thought, oh okay, Robyn, hey.
Then THIS knocked it out of the park.
Consider the logistics: this thing took TWO years to create by hand. Everyone else went for the tired Eastern cliches at the “China: Through The Looking Glass” Gala but Rihanna did her research, sought Guo Pei out and wore this and forever changed the Met. Yes, it was memed endlessly, but that’s the point. The Met should start conversations about fashion, not fill up some ho-hum “Who Wore It Best” column in OK! Magazine. It was ridiculous and luxurious and a total risk, and it paid off. Undoubtedly my top Met outfit of all time.

This May, New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology hosted its annual Future of Fashion runway show. As usual, 2019’s presentation celebrated the work of its graduates in fashion design, with students presenting work across the genres of sportswear, knitwear, children’s wear, special occasion and intimate apparel. The difference is that this year the university added a new category for its students to try their hand at — street style and athletics. “This is the first Future of Fashion show that’s featuring athleisure and streetwear,” celebrity stylist Kesha McLeod, one of the judges for FIT’s street style and athletics capsule, said ahead of the runway show.
And FIT is not the only school to formally recognize streetwear’s relevance. Ahead of its own graduate fashion show in May, Brooklyn’s Pratt Institute chose none other than Dapper Dan to honor Kerby Jean-Raymond of Pyer Moss with its 2019 Pratt Fashion Visionary Award.
But the inclusion begs a question: how can an institution like a fashion school incorporate streetwear into its curriculum? Is it possible to “teach” a genre that is rooted as much in culture as it is in technique? And if so, does institutionalizing the genre effectively neuter streetwear’s rebellious edge?
For FIT, the introduction of the new category is simply a response to evolving styles. “Every generation of student brings with them a new perspective, and streetwear is the most current example. This is what makes fashion vital— what we wear represents who we are,” says FIT’s Chair of Fashion Design Eileen Karp.
“Knowing how to realize your vision is in no way a compromise, it is essential and empowers the emerging designer,” she adds.
To judge the street style and athletics capsule, FIT invited McLeod and FIT alumni Christopher Bevans. Bevans, who was a global design director for Nikeand creative director for Billionaire Boys Club before founding his own brand DYNE, says FIT has evolved its curriculum significantly since his time there. Back then, the school didn’t so much as have a menswear component let alone streetwear.
“I think that the new dean [Troy Richards] and [President Dr. Joyce F. Brown], they are well aware of street culture,” Bevans tells HYPEBEAST. “And they’re listening to the voices of the students and the professors, and they are doing a beautiful job to continue to keep FIT relevant and cutting edge and innovative.”
Tuomas Laitinen, senior lecturer at Aalto University in Helsinki, is a bit more skeptical of such overt labels. “We don’t really believe in categories. Something like trends, it’s a bit of a dangerous word in a way. It’s more about finding the individual path of a student,” he told HYPEBEAST ahead of Aalto end-of-year Näytös show.
Aalto, which was recently named one of Business of Fashion’s top fashion schools for 2019, may not “teach” streetwear directly, but clothes at the Näytös 2019 show, which took place this past month, certainly presented a streetwear aesthetic. Students created pastel-colored suiting reminiscent of Louis Vuitton’s menswear by Virgil Abloh and zippered, functional outerwear calling to mind Errolson Hugh’s ACRONYM.
But Laitinen finds his students are moving in a far more formal direction, perhaps representing a generational shift where wearing a tracksuit is no longer such an act of rebellion. “Actually it was more streetwear, more sportswear-y before. Now it’s tailoring,” he says. “They’re more attracted to formality. It’s funny, in my generation it was all about breaking formality.”
“We don’t really believe in categories. Something like trends, it’s a bit of a dangerous word in a way.”
For Laitinen, the difference in approach might be due to the fact that, as he sees it, American schools like FIT, Parsons and Pratt take a more “commercial” approach when compared to their European counterparts. “Saint Martins or Antwerp or Vienna and the other schools, our point of view is more kind of defined to make students dig really, really deep to things they are interested in. And if it happens to be streetwear or sportswear, then we’re one hundred percent embracing it,” he says.
But Laitinen brings up a crucial point in the question of bringing streetwear to schools. In an age where streetwear covers the gamut from casual brands like Stüssy to formal, luxury fashion from the likes of Off-White™, how does one even define what streetwear is?
For Rachel Lift, visiting professor of fashion at Pratt, that answer can change depending on the context. “It signifies a specific fashion market and the garments – sneakers in particular – that are sold there,” she tells HYPEBEAST. “It is also an umbrella term that is problematically used to group black designers, whether or not they are making clothes that are sold in the streetwear market.”
However, in the educational sense, Lift says the term “streetwear” can be used to ask students to contemplate designs “outside of the established hierarchies of the industry,” and to think of cultures left out of the mainstream fashion conversation. “Because of its connection to hip-hop, ‘streetwear’ serves as a prompt for thinking about diversity and inclusion in the fashion industry – a theme that we also address in fashion education,” she says.
FIT offered an interesting solution to this conundrum of how to “define” streetwear; the street style and athletics pieces in its Future of Fashion show were not relegated to a separate category, but instead students within each discipline — sportswear, knitwear, children’s wear, intimate apparel and special occasion — were invited to apply a street style and athletics lens to their graduate pieces if they chose.
In the case of the winner of the street style and athletics capsule, Gwen Hines, that ability to combine athleticwear with a contrasting style proved successful. Hines, who specializes in formal wear, created a striking evening gown with athletic materials like scuba and mesh. “I chose to take part in the athletic capsule collection because I saw it as a challenge. I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and this is exactly what happened,” she tells HYPEBEAST. “Before this, I never had much of a relationship to athletics/streetwear. I chose to specialize my studies to special occasion design so, this style was very new for me.”
That lack of immersion in streetwear culture may ruffle the feathers of certain hypebeasts who want to keep streetwear to an underground genre. But for Bevans, recognition in other areas of fashion is a boon for streetwear. “I think it’s just important that we keep pushing and being innovative to have a seat at the bigger fashion houses, and it starts from here,” he says.
And not only that, but in the age of social media, going mainstream is a foregone conclusion for just about any genre. “I think social media has now just kinda made everything kinda mainstream,” he adds. “So if you think you’re underground, you probably shouldn’t be on social media, then.”
“I think it’s just important that we keep pushing and being innovative to have a seat at the bigger fashion houses, and it starts from here.”
Fashion schools aren’t the only institutions to bring streetwear to the spotlight, after all. In 2018, the CFDA honored Supreme’s James Jebbia with the Menswear Designer of the Year Award, a decision that invited its own share of backlash. Bevans, however, sees that decision as a due recognition of streetwear’s influence. “That just goes to show, there’s no denying just how street style is truly fashion. It’s just another chamber of fashion and it’s a serious business that has to be respected,” he says.
Laitinen agrees that streetwear’s time in the underground is over. “We have no subcultures anymore. We just go on this merry go round,” he says. He may not believe in teaching streetwear, but that doesn’t mean schools should remain static.
The way forward, Laitinen sees, is for universities to offer students a chance to experiment with technical innovations. “It’s more like keeping up with techniques and materials. That’s become kind of where we have to keep up,” he says. “You explore and you use machines you’re not supposed to. That’s the whole point of fashion education. Because you can’t really teach people how to design.”
The latter point may never change, but students’ access to streetwear knowledge certainly has. Kim Jones has ascribed role at influential streetwear agency Gimme5 during his student days as giving him a unique point of view compared to his fellow Central Saint Martins alum. Nowadays, students can find streetwear influences all around them, whether they’re looking for them or not.

Lately it seems as if there’s not a day that goes by where I’m not triggered by a blatant form of racial insensitivity, evident lack of diverse staff, or lack of awareness coming from fashion brands and design houses alike. In a time when we're reckoning with the legacy of iconic designers and brands, maybe the best thing consumers can do is take a step back and look at how we contribute. Sure, we can’t control what designers send down the runway, but one of the most fundamentally underrated ways to be an ally to the black community (and any community for that matter) is through how we spend our money. As we celebrate Black History Month I believe there’s truly no better way to appreciate and support black artistry than through shopping black-owned business and designers. Keep scrolling to find some of my favorite designers to shop this month and beyond. The first time I saw Brother Vellies in my feed, my heart skipped a beat. I saw a woman who looks just like me on social media (a rare occasion) wearing these incredible black feather heels. From that moment on, I was hooked. From its Instagram feed to how each product is made, Brother Vellies is thoughtful with everything it does. Founded by Aurora James, the brand is dedicated to sustainability and works with artisans in South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Morocco to make its handcrafted shoes. Basically, whenever I’m feeling philanthropic but need a pair of shoes, I’ll be spending all my money with Brother Vellies. Remember that iconic blazer look Beyoncé wore on her last On the Run II tour? That was from Queens-born designer LaQuan Smith. His glamorous and often sultry designs have not only caught the attention of the queen, but Cardi B, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, and other celebrities alike. If celebrities are not enough to immediately pique your interest, his previous collaboration this past fall with ASOS may do the trick. Featuring men’s and women’s clothing and plus-size options, the affordable collection toes the line between down to earth and just a pinch of extra. Not convinced yet? Check out his work below. Confession: I was hyperventilating at my desk when watching Carly Cushnie’s F/W 19 presentation. Something about her all-red layered look with velvet flare-leg pants and her Tibet Lamb Coat had me seriously re-considering my wardrobe choices. Her work often does that though; it’s so beautifully structured, minimal, and yet feminine you can’t help but to imagine how magical your life would be if you were just wearing one of her pieces. Imagine yourself sitting in Positano, Italy, with sun shining down on you while you’re drinking lemonade—but what are you wearing? Hopefully Fe Noel. The Grenadian womenswear designer from Brooklyn specialized in collections that practically scream "book a flight right now." Felisha Noel also recently collaborated with Afro-cuban American painter Harmonia Rosales. Rosales is known for reimaging iconic renaissance art pieces as black women, and we’re here for his jump from canvas to Fe Noel’s silk. After all, there’s no better way to celebrate black history than by recognising and reclaiming the beauty of black identity that’s been erased in larger historical narratives. CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner Telfar Clemens not only creates pieces that anyone can wear but continually pushes societal boundaries through challenging black and gender identity norms. After all, how many designers this past fall sent unisex clothing through a mosh pit environment while country music blasted in the background? Have you ever seen black cowboys sporting fringe? Probably not. If you’re looking for clothing that pushes boundaries and comes from a unique perspective, Telfar is your new go-to. Remember when we did that beautiful cover shoot with Yara Shahidi? If you haven’t been able to stop thinking about the printed silk suit she’s wearing, you’re not alone. The suit was part of a Pyer Moss collaboration with artist Derrick Adams that aimed to explore the idea of black life without persecution. In many ways, it’s easy to see why Kerby Jean-Raymond won the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award, was named one of Forbes 30 Under 30, and has a Reebok partnership. But in truth, the accolades don’t even begin to speak to the gravitas of his work. Designing for both men and women, Kerby uses his collections to give voice to the African American experience one piece at a time. Ever since the designer made waves with luxury street label Off-White and stepped into his role as menswear artistic director for Louis Vuitton , Virgil has kept the industry’s attention. And the hype thus far is definitely worth it. Sure, everyone lost it over his debut this past June ,  but his most recent menswear shows for fall 2019 caught my attention. For Louis Vuitton, Virgil used a Broadway-like production to set viewers in an old New York with live jazz in the back while well-tailored suits and subtle American flag pieces made their way down the runway. For Off-White, set against a landscape that turned into a green screen, models wearing box blazers paired with football helmets made their way through a dystopian cityscape. While both his shows stayed true to the brand’s identity, it felt as if both were a reflection of his own experiences as a black man and the environments that shaped him. To me, that reflection in and of itself, is breathtaking. Maybe it was just me, but the 2019 Grammy outfits truly solidified my love for Olivier Rousteing at Balmain. How could one not be in a tizzy over Béyonce’s iconic look, Jorja Smith’s stunning gold sequin number, or even Kylie Jenner’s avant-garde look? I know he’s been the creative director for nine years—which means I’ve been high-key sleeping on him—but something about him taking the brand back to couture week has made me fall in love all over again. Maybe it’s couture or maybe it’s him, but either way this a brand and a designer you should be buying into at the moment. Next: 14 Editor-Approved Designer Bags So Good We Bought Them

Gossip Girl’s Reboot Will Feature A Christopher John Rogers Runway Show
Tumblr media
NEW YORK CITY, NY – NOVEMBER 10: Evan Mock, Eli Brown, Zión Moreno, Emily Alyn Lind, Thomas Doherty, Jordan Alexander and Savannah Lee Smith filming “Gossip Girl” on November 10, 2020 in New York City, New York. (Photo by MEGA/GC Images)
Gossip Girl’s reboot is almost here, and so are the memorable fashion moments. Though one may think it’s hard to match Eric Daman’s costumes on the original TV show, that ran from 2007 to 2012, the HBO Max show is already making fashion waves.
On Thursday, the platform released a new trailer for the show, premiering on July 8 in the US (hopefully with a UK date following soon after), complete with a staged Christopher John Rogers fashion show. In the teaser, viewers can see Upper East Sider Julien Calloway (played by Jordan Alexander), a popular influencer and Constance Billard attendee, close a CJR fashion show, dressed in a black-and-white look from Christopher John Rogers’ spring 2021 collection (jump to 1:27 to see). The trailer also shows Calloway wearing a black, corseted evening gown by the designer (0:57), as well as models wearing other pieces from the same collection (0:39). Refinery29 reached out to Christopher John Rogers, who had no comment about the looks featured in the trailer.

Ever since Christopher John Rogers launched his namesake brand in 2016, the CFDA Fashion Award winner has injected an otherworldly vibe into the fashion world with oversized shapes, impossibly vibrant colours, and standout prints, coveted by Rihanna, Rosalía, Zendaya, and Tracee Ellis Ross. In 2021, Vice President Kamala Harris donned a purple coat from the designer to be sworn in on Inauguration Day in January. The designer also launched a collaboration collection with Target this year.
Since the pandemic took hold, the brand hasn’t been able to return to the NYFW runway, instead, showcasing fall and spring 2021 digitally. As such, it’s exciting to see the looks from the spring 2021 collection — including a slew of mismatched zebra and checkered black-and-white printed garments, neon dresses, balloon-shaped skirts, and bold monochrome suits — coming to life on the runway in the series.
This move to spotlight CJR is a departure from the big-name designers showcased on the original TV show. And, although the episodes were filled with socialites, designers, and celebrities, the show’s runway moments were few and far between and often focused on fictional designers. Take, for example, Eleanor Waldorf’s designs, which were created by ghost designer Abigail Lorick, and Jenny Humphrey’s (short-lived) fashion line.
The show’s creators have signalled that the reboot is committed to bringing diversity into the Upper East Side, and choosing to highlight the work of the Baton Rouge-born Black designer is certainly on the right track. Watch the runway show in Episode 1 when the series premieres next month.

Gossip Girl’s Reboot Will Feature A Christopher John Rogers Runway Show

Ride With Pride LGBT Witch Funny Lesbian Halloween shirt

Speaking of cool Ride With Pride LGBT Witch Funny Lesbian Halloween shirt . Pierpaolo Piccioli of Valentino knows when to move on from a hot look, even one that he helped create. More than anyone, Piccioli is responsible for the popularity of the lavishly cut tent dresses seen in pop colors on runways and red carpets everywhere these days, but he’s ready for something fresh. His collaboration with Undercover designer Jun Takahashi this season brings an entirely new perspective to Valentino, one that meshes the romantic with something perhaps a little sinister. It’s not normal, for instance, to see a ballgown printed with images of roses, a marble statue of a couple’s embrace, and a snake. Throughout the collection appeared haunting messages as well: “You thought I was too dark until I stretched into a galaxy.”Ride With Pride LGBT Witch Funny Lesbian Halloween shirt, hoodie, sweater, longsleeve and ladies t-shirt

Beverly Johnson, Pat Cleveland, and — smacking her own bottom — Grace Jones vamped on the runway. Tyra Banks smized from the audience, a few seats over from Gigi Hadid. A troupe of roller skaters warmed up the crowd to disco hits from the seventies, and the show itself was a tribute to the impact made by a famous 1973 fashion show called the Battle of Versailles. That event was a fundraiser dreamed up by the p.r. genius Eleanor Lambert (creator of the International Best Dressed List, the CFDA, and pretty much everything we know as American fashion today), in which American designers were pitted against the French. Why Cant People Books And The Nice To Each Other shirt
The dress over pants trend Why Cant People Books And The Nice To Each Other shirt . is far from dead, but fully alive and well on the runways and street. Last night, while attending the CFDA Awards in New York City, Bella Hadid changed from her ceremony attire—a Michael Kors dress—into an after-party outfit straight out of the noughties: a slinky ice blue slip dress with a lace trim over a pair of tailored gray 9-to-5–ready pants. On top, for more of a turn of the century touch, Hadid wore an oversize matching suit jacket along with a tiny glinting shoulder bag and strappy square toe heels. The final ode to the noughties? Orange tinted rimless sunglasses at night. Why Cant People Books And The Nice To Each Other shirt, hoodie, sweater, longsleeve and ladies t-shirt

Unisex The cheeky teen celebrity-beloved trend reigned in the early and mid-’00s but has recently reemerged Why Cant People Books And The Nice To Each Other shirt . It was a street style favorite in Copenhagen among Danish It girls, as well as a feature in lookbooks by designers like Chopova Lowena. As for Hadid’s translation? The sleek silhouette and combination of business casual with romantic night-out attire gave the once dated trend a modern touch. The 2019 CFDA Awards were Diane von Furstenberg’s last as chairwoman. She passed an actual torch—painted black, bedazzled, and with a battery-operated glowing flame—to her successor Tom Ford on stage. Ford’s first goal, he said on the dais, is to raise the international profile of American fashion—a worthy pursuit in this moment of shrinking resources and increased demands. But equally essential will be a job closer to home: activating the CFDA’s eligible voters around the issue of inclusion. An invitation-only network of the 500-plus members of the CFDA, along with top fashion retailers, journalists, stylists, and influencers votes for the nominees, but despite several black contenders—Virgil Abloh of Off-White and Pyer Moss’s Kerby Jean-Raymond for Menswear; Heron Preston for Emerging Designer; and Telfar Clemens and Abloh again for Accessory Designer—this year’s winners were not diverse. Clemens took to Instagram after the ceremony with a post: “All Caucasian winners this year, but we still took the bag.” Abloh, for his part, had better luck at the British Fashion Awards last year, where he won the Urban Luxe prize. Maybe a Streetwear category is in order, the way the CFDA recently established the Positive Change Award. The trailblazing Eileen Fisher accepted this year’s Positive Change Award for, among other things, accepting 1.2 million pounds of her used garments for upcycling. She made an appeal to her fellow designers, urging them to “rethink, reimagine, and reivent this amazing industry,” so that next year, you “can all be up here on stage accepting this award.” In a word, ignoring the climate catastrophe—and fashion and overconsumption’s role in it—is no longer sustainable.
