Random lil questions, are there any canon sexualities for the characters? From what I remember Sofia is straight so I wonder what about the others, or are they hidden for plot purposes (like they get confused and stuff)

Sofie and Vi are both straight!

As for the others…

Nari is bisexual, Chang-ho is straight, Andy wouldn’t use any labels but pansexual is probably best to describe it, Seungho is also straight and Gracie is…questioning. I won’t say exactly for now, but MC will find out sooner or later :)

POTN Ch. 129 - My thoughts

I read the last chapter of Painter of the Night on Friday.

What a journey. So many nights thinking how this story was going to finish - I was worried until the very end how things will end up for our favorite protagonists.

Here are some of my thoughts:

Can't help but admire Nakyum for his dedication to earn enough money to be able to see his lord Yoon. Our boy worked day and night to raise money for the journey to see him.

2. At the same time Seungho is doing the same, thinking of his lover and thinking of ways for them to be together. Even if he was the best in the state exam, he decided power, fame or money are useless if he can't be with Nakyum. Look at his smirk when he realized his prize was so close!!!

3. The anticipation I felt when I knew their meeting was iminent and they have not seen each other in years (since Nakyum's hair is so long now) was crazy, and the peach tree petals were so beautiful in the panels.

4. The reunion made me cry - such a long and painful journey for them, but they can finally be together forever.

5. The future - I like to think of how the future will look like for them - will Nakyum paint to make some pocket money to buy some trinkets for himself and Seungho? Or will he stay at home and paint for pleasure, waiting for his 'husband' to come back from work? Will Seungho spoil him, buy him clothes made of fine silk, buy him all the sweets he desires, painting brushes and pretty ribbons to tie his long hair with? What will the people of the region think of their new Governor and his pretty boy-wife?

6. What I do know is that the future is bright for them.

seungho wraps his arms around chaerin from behind. he rests his chin on her shoulder as they walked the last small stretch to her apartment. these days he enjoyed her company most. she was a source of comfort. he felt like he could tell her anything- like he didn't need to be anyone but himself around her. it was refreshing. reluctantly he lets go of the girl when they reached her front steps. "thanks again for tonight." he says, with a smile. seungho leans in and places a soft kiss to her cheek. "goodnight, rin." he says and waits for her to go inside before walking away. he reaches into his pocket in search of his phone but pauses when he notices a familiar face. the corners of his lips immediately turning up to form a smile.

"berry ch-" seungho dramatically gasps when he realizes it. ren had changed his hair from red to blonde and the stylist couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. no, not because the idol didn't look just as handsome, but because he couldn't call him by his favorite nickname anymore. "berry chan why~?" he whines. "what am i supposed to call you now?" he asks, moving in closer, his hand reaching up to run his fingers through the older mans long locks. @soulfm

What exactly happened to seungho? I don't know but we're getting closer to his backstory. It's a miracle seungho hasn't been taken out already by his way of living. Whether it's the effect of not sleeping mixed with the opium he showed his vulnerability. Sweet nakyum taking care of him even when his wrist is also injured.

so mc really never tried to contact seungho after he debuted? or did he just stop answering because he was busy?

they lost contact completely. seungho focused on his own career, debuting, that kinda thing. he was too busy to call or answer back anyways, especially after debuting. he had a lot of regret and guilt tho for never trying to start a convo with mc again but it feels too awkward to just dm her so he has never tried to contact her.

what he wanted from nakyum in ch 85 can now be better understood.

seungho is literally in the face of his trauma (lord yoon). he's trembling, sweating, breathing erratic possibly with shaky voice (distorted speech bubbles). but he is still smiling. like a fool, this is his biggest trump card, his biggest game, biggest power. smile as if there is no problem.

seungho was smiling horribly even when he was in the middle of a bad trauma. this is one of he's ways to put people under pressure and insult them. violence or a smile

maybe this is one of his ways idk. i'm pretty sure when he said "smiling like fool" to nakyum he knew there was nothing to smile about. problems always ignored this way.

The question is, how did Heena know where the corpse was?

I still think that's not In-Hun. The arm from chapter 94 was too large

One could argue that the body had been there for a long time so it bloated and such, and that is true, but we really have yet to see the face of the corpse, if it's bruised, it could be this guy

The brows, eye bags, and beard are all different, so they're not the same person

ALSO, THE INCOMPETENCE OF SEUNGHO'S SERVANTS ARE HIGHLIGHTED AT THE END THROUGH THIS SCENE:

From the looks of things, these servants are not rushing at all, and notice that there are only two of them left to do the job, AND KIM IS STILL NOT PRESENT, ONLY THE MAID WHO IS IN THE BACKGROUND

WHERE. THE FUCK. IS SERVANT KIM. AND CATERPIE?

Their sentence "we tried, but it's gone all squishy" implies that they're not trying hard enough, they're just prodding around and not really doing anything to follow the master's order: TO GET RID OF IT QUICKLY.

They are no doubt disrespectful towards their master. Another question is:

Why did the officers leave the corpse in the Yoon residence? Weren't they supposed to take it to the coroner to autopsy it first?

Because the fact that Seungho ordered it to be buried immediately when the officers left the corpse in his abode means that the corpse is not really all that important to the officers, but the act itself, NOT THE PERSON WHO WAS KILLED.

This circles back to the question I had in the beginning: how did Heena know where the corpse was? Because when Min got to In-Hun's residence,

There was only a speck of blood. Now, I imagined it to be like this:

Min returned to the scene of the crime at the break of dawn to leave a fake blood trail after he left with Jihwa, probably leading to a nearby well where anyone could find the corpse. Seeing as snow had already started to melt, it would be hard for the blood trail to be covered up

By this time, he had already been in cahoots with Caterpie since c66

And I believe that's why Caterpie was so adamant in gaining access to the bedchamber to look at Na-Kyum (or the music box) in c80 even tho Seungho was right in front of him.

Recall that in c83, the hunt happened, and Seungho's sword was left behind for the servants to fetch, and that includes Caterpie. He could've easily gotten the sword and gave it to Min in secret and in return, Min promised to give him the music box that Na-Kyum had ONCE HE GETS A HOLD OF NA-KYUM.

"The only thing left to do is to have your master be out for a few days. Nothing bad will happen to him since he's a noble and nobles can't be easily accused of a crime without hard evidence, right?" he could have said this to him, and that's why Caterpie cooperated. But now, where is he and Kim in c97?

Last time we saw Kim, he was supposed to be with the messenger along with Caterpie, so what if that's really the messenger's corpse and not In-Hun? They could have removed the messenger's outer coat to make it seem that he's wearing "scholarly white robes" before he was killed. But why choose In-Hun? Well, everyone in the residence knows how jealous their master could get, so why not get rid of two birds with one stone? Get rid of In-Hun, then Na-Kyum, the thorn in their side, would be removed as well. Na-Kyum would hate Seungho, Na-Kyum would leave, and they could all go back to being the lazy bums they were before Na-Kyum arrived

But these servants forgot one little thing:

THE COLLECTIVE PUNISHMENT.

If a noble is found guilty of a crime, the whole household pays the same price and would die with their master

Clearly, the servants are dimwitted to think that they could have an easy life if they get rid of Na-Kyum through In-Hun. THAT'S NOT HOW YOUR LAWS WORK, YOU BUMS.

Another thing, since Na-Kyum failed to put up that poetry in the room, bad luck is now upon him and Seungho, this could also lead Na-Kyum to think that Heena was right:

Seungho is truly a being of misfortune

But it would also throw Na-Kyum to be adamant as well,

"I PROMISED TO BELIEVE IN MY LORD NO MATTER WHAT THE OTHERS SAY, AND I WILL KEEP MY WORD."

So.... which path do you think Na-Kyum will choose? 🤔

The ending of the chapter omfg. Byeonduck is very sick and twisted that while seungho tells nakyum to promise he'll stay by him no matter what...They show what appears to have been a murder(?)
