MY OTHER TO ANOTHER
For words don’t meet my thoughts
For my needs doesn’t meet my want
For my search doesn’t meet my reach
For my tongue don’t meet my lips
To you,
To you I hold on
That you feel the beat of my heart
That its rhythm matches to yours
It hurts to know
That your heart beats for another
Does he? Will he?
Does he know how I feel about you?
Does he want you like I want you?

’I love the quality of pencil,
It helps me get to the,
Core of existence’
Andrew Myeth
Art is not what we see but what you make others see. This guy needs no introduction, meet Joshua Caroly Of Carolly Arts, a self made fine art , and pencil art artist. Pablo Picasso once said that the purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls and by looking at this amazing artist you will prove this.
He breathes life into every stroke he makes, he does it with so much passion, so much so that the last piece is a masterpiece and its uptight and personal. I guess this is what happens when we decide at an early age to follow our dreams, talents and abilities and not what the system has put in place for us. His life is a total proof that the artist sees what others only catch a glimpse of. Through his life , he proves that successful people focus on their talent and do the thing they love and when they do that opportunities and money will always come.
In the interview I had with Caroly proved Pablo Picassos’ words where he said, every child is born an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up. Art has the power to transform, to illuminate, to educate, to inspire and to motivate and I bet you by the end of this post you will have been inspired by the type of art Carolly brought to life.
If I could say it in words, there would be no reason to paint or draw-
Edward Hopper
Lets get to the interview…
Who are you?
Am Joshua Carolly a self trained portrait artist.
Where did you learn art? Are you in a university or something?
I’ve never studied art in any institution. I noticed the talent back in preschool where I used to draw a lot of cartoons & I fell in love with art.
What are some of your achievements and succeses?
Some of my successes are, I did some portraits for H_art the band and they bought them double the original price. I once sold a single piece at 17,000ksh. I’ve been featured in three TV shows & the standard newspaper to showcase my talent.
at the various tv shows and magazines…
with khaligraph jones…
what are the challenges you face?
Yes their are Challenges some clients think their work was done with photoshop, at times it’s hard to convince that the drawing was done by pencil and not altered by photoshop.
There are also some people who steal your work, upload on their social media pages and end up getting clients using materials that is not theirs.
What is your best piece and why?
This is my best piece, the reason why I like it it’s because the boy’s face expresses more than one emotion. It’s like he’s thinking about something, he looks lost, he seems like he going through some hardship but still has some hope for better life ahead.HOPE!
Your advice to the youths and upcoming artists.
I would advise the youths to use their talents in a positive way, if you haven’t discovered it yet find another way to make money. Nothing comes easy, you have to work hard to be successful in life
Well, change doesn’t start with action it starts with vision. Artists are great at creating visions.
Next time you need your portrait picture done, want to surprise your beloved one, this could be a perfect present which lasts forever
You can contact Carolly via

My name  is Tevin Omondi ,21 year old ,a professional high fashion model and currently a third year student at Kenyatta University. My journey as a model started way back in 2015 where a close friend of mine,Jim Lewis, who we met back in high school discovered me.He coached me and taught me the basics of being a model.More importantly he made me believe that I can do it if I wanted to.Jim is a co -founder of  at the Initiative Fashion Event besides being my mentor and a great friend. I also got a lot of inspiration from my sister who then used to work with the Kenya Fashion Awards.
I recall at first it was so hard to get booked for shows considering that then i was just an upcoming model then.I remember their was a show I was only booked for by one designer having only one outfit while the other models we worked with had as much as 12 designers booking them.DESPITE THE FACT THAT THIS WAS PAINFUL AND CHALLENGING IT ALSO ACTED AS A MOTIVATION TO KEEP PUSHING ON AND PERFECTING MY SKILLS AS A MODEL.In the process modeling become more to me than just a career,it became a passion and a hobby.
I doubled up as a designer working with a brand called DapperStyleInc.A brand which deals with making bespoke suits for both ladies and gents besides styling and accessorizing outfits. As a designer,Ive worked with The Initiate and The Waldi Delga (Brew and Bistro Lounge) where i happened to dress some of Kenya’s Top models including Nelvin Chuma ,Wesonga and others.
I have showcased my designs at Brew and Bistro Lounge an opportunity where i got to showcase with  some of Kenya’s Top designers on the same runway including Koki from Koki designs and Walji.I also happen to model with the best of the best models in Kenya while at Brew and Bistro.
I have done several high fashion shows in my modeling career these include The Nairobi Fashion Week,The Woman Of Africa Show,The Ankara Festival just to mention a few.i have also been able to showcase designs by the best designers locally and internationally including Evelyn Akinyi Adongo from Mepha Creations and Ikke from Ghana  just to mention a few.I also do pageant shows though so rarely.most recent being Mr &Miss Status Kenyatta University where i managed to be the first runners up.
Over time i have also managed to feature on KTN’s The Enterprenuer Show while working under Fashion Touch Africa. My patting shot to all models and those who want to become mosels is this,IF YOU CAN DREAM IT,YOU CAN DO IT.
(Tevin Omondi is a third year student at Kenyatta university ,a model under The Initiative and currently the first runners up Mr status kenyatta University.)

Name:Rachael Wandithia Waweru
DOB:11/11/1997
Institution:Kenyatta University
Hobbies:Cooking,Writing
Height:5’7 feet tall
I am a God-fearing,happy and positive girl who strongly believes in the beauty of dreams,a lover of peace as well as mother nature.Am often defined as the girl with a birthmark on the left side of her forehead;am still cool with that.Modelling has always been my passion for as long as I can remember and a beautiful dream I held onto since I was a little girl.
When I was little,I gained interest in royalty and the grand beauty associated with it( the elegant gowns and tiaras). Bridal gowns intrigued me a lot too.Above all, mother who was a seamstress made these beautiful petite dresses for me and my dolls inspired me to pursue my passion for modelling.
Well it was typical of majority of the little kids to say ‘When I grow up,I would love to be a doctor,pilot……..name it!!!’For as long as I can remember I wanted to be a princess 👸 and get to wear a tiara all my life;🙁very funny😅. I would tell everyone I wanted to be a doctor;because to me it seemed to be a trend at the moment.I was a lover of fairy tales, and I still am.
Currently I am a high fashion and editorial model signed under Africa Nasaha as well as an Initiative Model too. However, I would like to venture into pageantry as well. Pageantry is a significant proof of the beauty in modelling since you don’t just get to be a model but a role model too, shed light and create awareness on the various issues affecting the society.I would love to be an advocate for drug abuse in the society, inspire people and make a difference in the universe.
Something many people don’t know about me is that my closest confidant is my diary,If I had the opportunity I would eat everything in the world twice without gaining weight.I love smiling in the mirror, basically at myself as well as conversing with me.I enjoy dancing though when am alone since am not quite the dancer but I can move my body.I pray a lot too as I believe in the power of prayers.
My credentials may not be lengthy at the moment, but this is the start of something great.I would love to be a TV host, and a couple of years from now,I hope to see myself gracing the covers of mainstream fashion magazines and engage in high profile modelling gigs.My message to you is to put God first before everything else,be yourself, follow your heart not the crowd,be humble too and keep on dreaming till you wake up to that reality.
(Rachael Wandithia is a student at kenyatta university  and a high fashion model with an open mind and a beautiful soul who seeks to constantly inspire us to never stop dreaming.)
