The atmosphere vibrated with stress. Like the tolling of bells in a provincial town, tension echoed off the walls. Your mind shied away from the metaphor as soon as you thought of it. Taskmaster turned and tilted his masked head to the side, looking like a very ugly German Shepherd puppy.

“Time’s running out, girl. Better start praying your boyfriend turns up.”

You tilted your chin and met his threat with defiance. Inside, your stomach was churning. But it would be a disaster if Taskmaster knew his effect on you.

Taskmaster’s face moved in a way that suggested he was wrinkling his nose under his mask.

“Have you ever been in love?”

He stiffened, shoulders pulling tight as his arms drew back, bringing his elbows in toward his torso.

“A psychopath who’s been in love. Interesting.”

Taskmaster swung away and moved to check the cellphone he’d placed on the counter.

A timer had been set right after the first ransom call. The digital clock was ticking down the minutes to your demise. If the Avengers didn’t hand over the vibranium ore stored in Tony’s safe, Taskmaster would kill you. Or to be more precise, his words had been, splatter your brains all over the wall.

“Three minutes left. If he loved you, he wouldn’t cut it so close.”

“If you were in his shoes, and the woman you loved was in mine, would you make this deal? You’re working for Klaus. In his hands that vibranium would put millions of people in danger.”

Taskmaster shrugged. “His money’s green.”

“So is Tony’s. Ask him to pay you more. Ask him for double whatever Klaus is paying you. You’re not stupid. It’s obvious which well runs deeper.”

For a moment, he pinned you with a cold glare that had your heart pulsing with fear. Had you pushed too hard?

Laughter exploded, shaking the man’s frame. He clutched his stomach and threw his head back, reveling as if you’d told the greatest joke ever written.

“You’re good. Really good. I’m impressed, Y/N. They warned me you were clever; but I didn’t think you’d get to me.”

Hope blossomed.

“I’m worth more alive than I am dead, and we both know it.”

The timer screeched its finale. A chorus of blaring horns and raging vibrations broke the tense moment.

Taskmaster clicked his tongue.

“Well, well. Time’s up. The Avengers have run out of chances to save you.”

You considered him, feeling a strange sense of calm that defied logic. In the back of your mind a trampled down instinct screamed at you to panic, but it was too distant to matter.

“I suppose you’re going to kill me and not double your pay. I’d thought you were intelligent. But it’s no matter, since I’ll be dead in… five minutes?”

Taskmaster grinned.

“Your calculations missed a variable. Loyalty. I have a reputation to protect and Klaus is a well connected man. If I double cross him, I’m as good as dead. So yeah. No deal. But I’m not going to enjoy this next part as much as I planned to. You made a good sparring partner, Y/N.”

The sound of your name on his lips sent a chill through your heart.

You stiffened as he stepped around the kitchen island, moving towards the living room, where you were cuffed to an armchair. The raw panic you’d thought would overwhelm you didn’t come. Taskmaster had taken two steps, his gun raised and movements purposeful, when the world exploded. There was an ear shattering sound, as if a firework had gone off beside you. Surprisingly, the cuff came loose as the chair tipped over and you jerked your hand free.

Gunshots snapped through the air. You crawled towards the door, away from the flying glass. Hands grabbed your waist, pulling you backwards.

From behind the couch there was a chuckle. Tony snickered.

“Quite the romantic reunion.”

“Romantic? She nearly knocked out his teeth,” Thor said.

Tony sighed. “Sarcasm isn’t a language you’re ever going to master, is it?”

There was a mandatory post hostage crisis interview with SHIELD. Steve protested the exercise, pulling out his “I am the Captain” voice on Maria Hill. You intervened by cutting in and agreeing to the interrogation. While they called it an ‘interview’ everyone knew what it really was. Rage bubbled in Steve’s crystal eyes. You held still as he brushed the back of his fingers over the painful areas, and gently traced the marks that showed the outline of your attacker’s fingerprints.

He was silent. It coated the air with tension. You waited, but rather than speak, Steve dropped his head and breathed deeply. When he lifted his gaze again the violence had been replaced with his usual calm, steady expression.

The unnatural compartmentalization was unsettling. Steve shared his emotions freely with you. Gimme all your thoughts on the last season of hsmtmts when you compose yourself! I’m still crying it was so perfect! Us Rinas won so hard!!! They are the most perfectly executed slowburn soulmates ever and the payoff was so sweet!

ricky bowen basically sums up the entirety of my feelings towards the hsmtmts finale. i have absolutely not composed myself and there's so much to say but I'm not sure I have the words. Seeing as I just finished watching it through for a second time and my tears are still drying .... I'm gonna ramble cause this show means a stupid amount to me

First of all, this was my favorite season. I always say 3rd seasons are the best but... damn. hsmtmts is breaking my streak.

I think it brought back a lot of what made season 1 so so so special to me but it also allowed the show to grow. it was funny and outlandish and ridiculous and surprisingly heartfelt and it made me sob, all like season 1. the meta was metaing, the character development was charater developmenting (4x06??? insanity on every level). almost every single character made me cry at some point - both characters I have loved so dearly from the beginning and some characters I have truly hated at one point or another. genuinely, i think I ended this season more fond of the original main cast than I ever have been - which is saying something!!! i have loved them a lot from the start. I also think the humor and the pacing and the self-awareness were otherworldly.

this show just has a stupid ability to make me feel the full spectrum of human emotions in a 5 minute timespan - I go from laughing my ass off to crying my eyes out to falling in love to hating something so viscerally and it's just akdhsflkjasdhlfkj. it's hard to explain to people who haven't watched it because like ??? what do you mean the stupid littel alphabet show made you feel all that???? and i can't really explain it like you just gotta experience it. I'm a full ass adult and I audibly sobbed at Gina's speech - and i'm pretty sure I'll never be able to watch that scene without crying.

speaking of gina... I've known for a long time that she was one of my girls, but this season has absolutely forever cemented her as one of my favorite characters of all time. she is my girl my queen the love of my life an angel all the good things in the world (i sound like ricky bowen). but very seriously, there's a very short list of my favorite characters of all time and she will always, always, always be there.

I want to speak more about rina but i just.... i'm literally not sure i can find the words. the season was amazing, I loved seeing them grow out of situations that mirrored obstacles they had in the past, I loved the clear lines that showed how perfect Gina and Ricky are for each other as opposed to their previous partners, I think the rain kiss genuinely took my breath away and I'm so so so so happy that they are happy. I leapt out of my seat at the callbacks and the reveals and lost my mind at how invisible string and mastermind coded their entire relationship is. they are literally soulmates like gina took one look at "skater boy" and she was like "wow i guess this is the love of my life". like?????? that's so genuinely insane???? unhinged television.

i'm also heartbroken that i don't get more of them. i know we just saw a whole season of them kissing but like - I want more. I want to see them graduate. i want to see them take on more challenges. i want to see them fall even further in love. i'm sure i'll have more eloquent, well-rounded thoughts once my brain is working, but right now, i'm just so happy with what we got and also a little bit mourning the things we'll never see.

all in all, that's kind of how i feel about the show in general. i don't know that it feels finished. like - it was an ending. it had so much closure. this wasn't cancelled or cut off, it was brought to a close. but i still have so much i want to see from these characters. I want to see more of ricky and gina always. I want Kourtney taking on college and a Jetney duet (I'm gonna sue someone over the fact that i didn't get one). I want to see so so so much more of maddox and ashlyn!!! i literally just got them. and miss jenn and mazarra????? they literally just. dropped that in my lap and ran!!!!

i think the problem isn't actually the ending, though. I think it's just me, lol. I'm not sure I'd ever be ready to say goodbye to these characters. and i know it's good to go out on a high note but damn can't we ride this high for just a little bit longer?

also - terri porter is gunning for one of my least favorite tv parents ever and like. if you know me you know that's saying something.

also also - they swore more in this season of hsmtmts than in s3 of the boat show so. do with that what you will.

Affection: How do they show their love and affection? How intense would it get?

She needs to be by your side all the time. The moment Belarus is away from you she starts to feel empty and hollow. Which leads to her keeping you by her side all of the time. 

For normal work days you'll be allowed to come with her into her office; assuming she isn't working from home. None of her officials or higher ups ask any questions. She seems to get more work done with you by her side and will often just say you're her helper. You are helping in a way, although that way is mostly just you sitting with her and spending the day relaxing in a chair in the corner of the room.

For the world meetings it's a bit more tricky. It's not impossible for someone to be snuck in, honestly it's not even that hard if it's a country doing it. The issue is being caught by someone who might make a big deal out of it. So anyone like Alfred is to be avoided.

Russia and Ukraine help her sneak you into the building and leave you alone in her office. (I imagine the world meeting lasts a few days on average and they have offices there to continue working in private). No one knows you're there, and if they do, no one says anything. 

Blood: How messy are they willing to get when it comes to their darling?

Belarus is more than capable of killing someone for you. It isn't a matter of being able to, it's how you respond to it. If someone touches you or threatens to hair you she will absolutely break bones. If you start screaming and yelling for her to stop she will, until you're no longer around.

If there isn't any major reaction Natalia will finish the job right there. If that isn't an option she will wait, or have someone else do it for her. 

Cruelty: How would they treat their darling once abducted? Would they mock them?

After you're abducted you are treated more like a spouse than before. She expects you to eat dinner with her and to help her cook and clean. The two of you will now sleep in the same bed. Wearing matching pajamas because she thinks it's cute. From the outside the two of you will appear as a happy married couple.

Darling: Aside from abduction, would they do anything against their darling’s will?

Love. She is a needy yandere who feels like she can't exist without you. Even if you don't want it she will hold and love you. If you're too aggressive you will be tied up and bound so that she may hold you.

One of her favorite things to do is leave marks on you. Putting on lipstick and leaving a visible trail of kisses is a more tame way of doing it. Maybe when at a world meeting she'll be easier on you, just in case someone else catches a glance. 

The more extreme version is leaving bloodied marks left on you from her teeth or her fingernails. It takes a few days to heal. In the meantime you have a few days' reminder of how much she loves you.

The middle ground is hickies. Lots and lots of hickies. Both in visible and invisible places.

Exposed: How much of their heart do they bare to their darling? How vulnerable are they when it comes to their darling?

Extremely. You are one of Natalie's weaknesses. She genuinely believes that you care about her. No matter what words leave your mouth, threats and promises of eternal hatred and rage, are dismissed as the temper of an angry lover.

For her love, her life, the second half of her soul, to be lost? Or for the illusion to somehow shatter? She would never make it out in one piece.

Fight: How would they feel if their darling fought back?

She has two reactions and it depends on the mood you catch her in.

The first one is uncaring. If you love her deep down then what does shallow words mean to her? Your rants will fall on deaf ears as she tells you that it must suck to think that, now be quiet and help her finish with the dishes so you two can watch a movie.

The other is what happens when you press one of her buttons. Maybe it was on purpose, or maybe you just stumbled onto one of her other weaknesses. Her reaction will be full of emotions. She will rush over to you, grab you by the shoulders and shake you violently. Demanding that you take those words back. You have no right to speak them.

Game: Is this a game to them? How much would they enjoy watching their darling try to escape?

The only game here is Uno. Belarus does truly love you. Even if her way of showing it is a bit odd, she could never wish any true harm onto you.

She doesn't like seeing you leave either. Wherever you go she will be right by your side.

Hell: What would be their darling’s worst experience with them?

Probably one of her violent outbursts. By nature Natalia is very brash and has some anger management issues with other people. It wouldn't be hard for you to make a mistake and touch on the tough subject of her siblings. 

A comment about Ukraine and her body, or calling Ivan creepy and insulting him will result in a subscription to several weeks of isolation and near torture until you apologize and go through 'behavioral classes'. These consist of her sitting you down to teach you the correct way to address both of her siblings. She loves them just as much as you in some ways.

Ideals: What kind of future do they have in mind for/with their darling?

Marriage. A big wedding, a small wedding, or just inviting her two siblings to join. Any of those options are OK with her as long as you're happy and play the role of a perfect spouse on the happiest day of their life. (Natalia will cry at the altar. There is no doubt about this.)

Jealousy: Do they get jealous? Do they lash out or find a way to cope?

Don't look at anyone else. She is extremely jealous and wants you to only think about her. She only thinks about you so why can't you only think about her? You're  not being fair.

If your eyes linger for too long she will pull on your arm. Reminding you with a look exactly what she thinks of your actions. Once you get home she will list off point by point everything you did wrong and how to make up for it.

If this goes too far, more extreme measures will be taken. Like a blindfold for when you go outside. Don't like it? Stop looking at other people then! Simple solution.

Kisses: How do they act around or with their darling?

Like a standoffish sweetheart. Go up and give her a hug! Or a kiss! She rarely says what she wants until it gets to the point she would rather just get up and do it herself.

Her biggest wish is for you to feel the same way about her as she does you.

Love letters: How would they go about courting or approaching their darling?

When you first meet she will follow you home. It's like a dream come true. Someone who appears to be perfect for her reveals someone who really does seem like the most amazing match. Once Belarus knows where you live she will take something from you. Like a wallet.

She will then approach you with the item and claim that you dropped it. No need to thank her (but please do anyways), just let her treat you to some coffee. If you're so tired you don't notice losing your wallet what else might happen?

She doesn't talk. Instead she just sits there and looks out the window. Any idea she's bored or hates being here is thrown away when she tells you she loved this little coffee date. It wasn't a date as far as you knew, but that's ok. At the end she insists the two of you exchange letters.

Any words asking how you will do that when you don't even know her address aren't answered. She quickly leaves without saying more than twenty words.

The women in the letters are different from the one at the cafè. The matters are sweet and endearing. Showing someone who isn't afraid to talk and be open about how she feels.

Ukraine and Russia are helping her with the letters. Ukraine takes out everything about Kidnapping you if you don't return her feelings and makes it sound… better! Ivan is there as moral support. Happy to see his siblings working together and making sure she doesn't kidnap you too early. Can't have you getting scared too early in the relationship.

Which it is. She considers the two of you dating at this point. Even if you don't know it she will hold you to this idea. So no fooling around with somebody else. The resulting conflict won't be pretty.

Mask: Are their true colors drastically different from the way they act around everyone else?

Yes. She is softer and kinder with you if you act like a good partner. She does love you, and everyone around her can see that. Her siblings were quick to catch onto her acting differently and they for one love the two of you being together. Because it makes her happier and she's softer when she's with you.

Not that the rose doesn't still have thorns.

Naughty: How would they punish their darling?

Isolation is her go to and most common. Locking you in a room alone before she leaves for work and keeping you in there all day. She'll give you a limited amount of food and water. Just enough to keep you alive. You'll be let out when she comes home to shower, use the restroom, and sleep in your shared bed. During the morning you get one more chance to use the restroom and you spend the rest of the day locked away.

This process can last for weeks with only a few breaks on Natalie's days off. She likes to spend her spare time with you, and a darker part of her hopes that being the only good thing in your life will make you warmer towards her.

Oppression: How many rights would they take away from their darling?

Depends on how you act. You can freely leave the house as long as you tell her beforehand, make a plan of where/when, stick to the plan, keep a tracker on you, and regularly call and text.

If you act out there will be less and less chances for you to do anything. Natalia will gladly tie you to a chair and force feed you if she has too.

Patience: How patient are they with their darling?

You get three chances. First chance she warns you, second chance she reprimands you, and the third time she gives a small reminder of what will happen if you do it another time.

There are no more chances. After that you get two chances. One reminder and then punishment.

Quit: If their darling dies, leaves, or successfully escapes, would they ever be able to move on?

No.

If you're dead she will never leave the denial stage. Belarus knows a bit of magic and will never stop believing that she can bring you back. Her family will help in whatever ways they can. Meaning Ukraine cooks and keeps everything in order while Russia searches for a proper spell.

If you leave or escape? Oh this time her siblings can do a lot more. Being caught by Ukraine isn't as bad as it could have been. Not that she's likely to find you over Ivan. If Irunya finds you first she'll have a conversation with you.

More so she'll talk at you. You'd be tbound and gagged. Threats are given in the form of reminders. Things can be so much worse for you. Her dear sister is providing you a comfortable life after all! You could be dead. You could have been caught by the likes of Ivan. She'd give so many reminders of how bad this situation could have been for you that you'd feel thankful by the end of it.

After you're thoroughly scared by what could, and still can, happen to you she just let's you go. If you don't return to Belarus she'll hand you over to Ivan.

To keep his own sister happy (and off of his neck) Ivan would gladly mutilate you. Cutting off both legs would mean you can't escape wouldn't it? He'd talk to Belarus before doing anything. He wouldn't mind not checking with her though. Depending on how badly you acted before being caught.

Regret: Would they ever feel guilty about abducting their darling? Would they ever let their darling go?

No and no. To Natalia this is the way it was always meant to be. She doesn't care if you don't like it. You have to. There isn't a choice here.

Stigma: What brought about this side of them (childhood, curiosity, etc)?

I would say it's just her. She can't say why she needs you but she just does. When you're away it feels like her own self is gone. It becomes cold and lonely again and nothing else feels that aching void until you come back.

Tears: How do they feel about seeing their darling scream, cry, and/or isolate themselves?

She sees it as a temper tantrum. You don't like her? Too bad! Get over yourself and help make dinner. At least set up the table for the both of you.

No matter what it takes she'll do anything to get you to behave again. Screaming and yelling? Gag! Starving yourself? Have fun being force fed! Don't like it change how you act.

Unique: Would they do anything different from the classic yandere?

You'd be able to have a seemingly normal life. Yeah it's a bit toxic and she won't let you leave; but if you don't try to leave and act right you can be happy. She would love to travel with you, and she takes you everywhere with her so you do get out a lot. It's just a matter of if you can out up with her other tendencies.

Vice: What weakness can their darling exploit in order to escape?

Once you play along for long enough she lets her guard down. At a certain point she so genuinely believes that you love her too she doesn't even question if you'll try to leave. You're her weakness after all.

If you do escape this way though, she will never have the same trust in you again. Even if things go back to being the same she will always be watching her back for betrayal.

Wit’s end: Would they ever hurt their darling?

Yes. Both to show love and as a form of punishment.

Xoanon: How much would they revere or worship their darling? To what length would they go to win their darling over?

She wants you to love her, but she's also not easy to manipulate. It takes time to get to a spot where the two of you are truly domestic, but once there it's easy for her to spend the night rambling to you about how much she loves you. How she can't live without you. Want to be worshiped? Ask her to. At that point she'll do it if it makes her other half happy.

Yearn: How long do they pine after their darling before they snap?

You get a few days. Once she thinks you're good for her she's going to make a spot in her house.

Very few people make her feel that way and you can't leave once she gets to you.

Zenith: Would they ever break their darling?

If you struggle too much? Sure. If you somehow get away from her? Of course. It's what needs to be done to ensure that the two of you can be in a happy relationship after all.

For the charater ask game

I think we all know *why* you love Finn but since CSI messed it up this question really stuck a chord:

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

I would love to have seen Finn in the world of Kinsey Millhone who was a private investigator based out of California in the 80’s and created by author Sue Grafton. Kinsey was very independent and tough and got into lots of trouble in the novels Grafton wrote. Finn would have fit right in with Kinsey solving crimes and getting into trouble. Grafton wrote 25 novels all with letters from the alphabet “A is for Alibi” “B is for Burglar” etc all the way to Y before she passed away. Z was never written nor published and never can be because Grafton made it a clause to never have her work published by a ghost writer nor can her books ever be made into films or series which is a shame because I think Elisabeth Shue would be great at playing Kinsey if these books could have been made into movies. So Finn would fit well as a character in that book world and Elisabeth would have made a great Kinsey in a film of the novels.

Methods All the Way Down

Concept 1: A method (sometimes called a function) can be used to do bits of work quickly. A common example used for teaching what’s going on is square(x) which would look like

public float square(float number){ return number * number; }

And sure, “square(x)” is longer than just writing “x * x” directly in your code. But you could also put the whole pythagorean theorum in a method and then call “pythag(x, y)” and it’d just do it.

You can then use the method as its return type. That is, if a method spits out an integer, you can have the method in your code as if it were that integer, even if you don’t know what int that’ll be when you start.

This CAN lead to some unintuitive blocks of code, as you type a method with another method in it. In the above “pythag(x, y)” example you could as easily have something like

diagonalJumpDist = pythag(runSpeed(runMods), jumpHeight(jumpMods));

Today’s task had me nesting methods inside each other in a way much like this! I was making a program to count the lengths of words, with a minor note to not count exterior non-letters (so “hey” would count as 3 letters, because the quotes would get pulled off of either end)

if(!Character.isLetter(word.charAt(word.length()-1))) reads:

if() If the statement inside the parentheses evaluates to True, do the stuff inside the curly braces attached to the statement. If not, skip past those curly braces.

! is the shorthand for “not.” Starting a statement with “!” is the same as ending it with “== false”

Character.isLetter() This is a method already written by the folks who designed Java for Characters. If the character inside the parentheses is A-Z, uppercase or lowercase, it returns True. If not, it returns False.

charAt() This is a method for the String class in Java (and a couple other languages too). It tells you what character appears in a string at a location you define, with the first character in the string counting as location 0. So in the string “Todd” charAt(1) would return “o” and charAt(4) would return an error.

length() This is a method that returns the number of characters in a string. Because of the whole “counting from 0,” a 12-letter word will be counted from values 0-11. This is why I use “length()-1″ to grab the last letter of the word.

So going from the innermost parentheses, it gets the length of my word. Let’s say the word is “Todd?” That’s 5, from T at location 0 to ? at location 4.

It grabs the character at length - 1. As I just said, the character at location 4 is “?”

Character.isLetter will return False, because “?” isn’t in the uppercase or lowercase alphabet.

Because my statement starts with the “not” modifier “!”, the if statement will run its code because it evaluated to False.

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

He shows very little Affection. Shigaraki is not a very good affectionate person, since he never did receive affection. So he wouldn’t show his the affection in front of others, besides his S/o.

The way he shows affection, would subtle gestures. Standing beside you, brushes your hair from your face, letting you play games with him. Away from everyone, of course. 

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

He wouldn’t be your friend, he’s your leader, you're his subordinate.

But over time, once he’s used to you being in the League, he’ll start seeing you as a comrade.

Or possibly, more than that...

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

He will secretly want cuddles, but he can’t admit that. He a supervillain he can’t have people see him getting cuddled.

Introduction to Java String Handling

String is probably the most commonly used class in java library. String class is encapsulated under java.lang package. In java, every string that you create is actually an object of type String. One important thing to notice about string object is that string objects are immutable that means once a string object is created it cannot be altered. In Java, java.lang.String class is implementes using Serializable, Comparable and CharSequence interface.

In Java, CharSequence Interface is used for representing a sequence of characters. CharSequence interface is implemented by String, StringBuffer and StringBuilder classes. This three classes can be used for creating strings in java.

What is an Immutable object?

An object whose state cannot be changed after it is created is known as an Immutable object. String, Integer, Byte, Short, Float, Double and all other wrapper classes objects are immutable.

Creating an Immutable class

String can be created in number of ways, here are a few ways of creating string object.

Each time you create a String literal, the JVM checks the string pool first. If the string literal already exists in the pool, a reference to the pool instance is returned. If string does not exist in the pool, a new string object is created, and is placed in the pool. String objects are stored in a special memory area known as string constant pool inside the heap memory.

It's very hard for Chinese language to create a brand-new character in order to incorporate new emerging thoughts. instead, we arrange existing characters to form character chunks, which is very awkward compared to alphabet, e.g. 

between DNA and 脱氧核糖核酸 (we did create new character, such as 氢 for hydrogen, but it's very rare). we would not bother calling 脱氧核糖核酸 for 脱核 or 脱酸, we would all know what DNA NBA, NASA,stand for quite clearly, even without context. we would not bother calling them 美职篮联, 美航航 in Chinese, we would rather borrow the English abbreviations in our Chinese article.

As to optical fiber and chemical fertilizer, there is no need to abbreviate these words, just like they don't need to abbreviate elder brother. In fact, it's not that hard for us to write or pronounce these phrases compared to 光纤 and 化肥 (and if they really feel the need to say it more easily, they just could do that availably, they could coin a word like chemfer or optifiber or something else, you get what I mean? there are always some new words available for them to use IF ONLY THEY FEEL THE NEED. Like we now all use POTUS for the abbreviation of President Of The United States.), But in the case of 脱氧核糖核酸, it's FAR more easy to write DNA instead. 

What I want to stress is the institutional superiority and availability for alphebet system to abbreviate and creat new words compared to Chinese characters. Considering D is two strokes and 脱 is 11 strokes. If you use Chinese charaters to do the function of alphebetic letters, it's quite redundant and awkward. And one character carries one syllable, but one letter could carry only one phoneme instead, we could just call NASA as /naesa:/ if the new word's letter arrangement makes us do it availably, which is only two syllables.

The questions in this part of the assignment will be graded. Question 1: Draw a Circle            (50 points) Before starting this question, we strongly recommend that you complete the last two warmup exercises if you have not already done so. These warm-up questions will be the best way to start the assignment. For this question, you will write a program called Circle that displays a circle in the upper right quadrant of the Cartesian plane. To do so, write (at a minimum) the following three methods: A method called onCircle that takes as input five ints. The first three parameters represent (in order) the radius and x,y coordinates of the centre of the circle. The last two parameters represent an x,y position on the grid. This method determines whether or not the circle should be drawn at the grid coordinates given by the method’s parameters. To get the appropriate thickness for the circle, return whether the following formula holds or not: radius2  (x        a)2 + (y        b)2  radius2 + 1 In the above formula, a and b are the coordinates of the centre of the circle, and x and y are the grid coordinates. A method called verifyInput that takes as input three ints representing the radius and centre coordinates of the circle, and returns nothing. This method should throw an IllegalArgumentException and display a helpful error message if either the circle does not fit in the upper right quadrant, or if the radius is non-positive. Otherwise, the method will not print anything. As a hint, the circle does not fit in the upper-right quadrant if it is too close to the axes. The point of an encryption scheme is to transform a message so that only those authorized will be able to read it. Caesar’s cipher conceals a message by replacing each letter in the original message (the plaintext), by a letter corresponding to a certain number of letters to the right on the alphabet. Of course, the message can be retrieved by replacing each letter in the encoded message (the ciphertext) with the letter corresponding to the same number of position to the left on the alphabet. To achieve this, the cipher has a key that needs to be kept private. Only those with the key can encode and decode a message. Such a key determines the shift that needs to be performed on each letter. For example, here is how a string containing the entire alphabet will be encrypted using a key equal to 3: Original:           abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz Encrypted:      defghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabc Vigen`ere’s cipher is a slightly more complex encryption scheme, also used to transform a message. The key of this cipher consists of a word and the cipher works by applying multiple Caesar ciphers based on the letters of the keyword. Each letter can be associated with a number corresponding to its position in the English alphabet (counting from 0). For instance, the letter ‘a’ is associated to 0, ‘c’ to 2, and ‘z’ to 25. Therefore, the keyword of the cipher will provide as many integers as letters in the word and these integers will be used to implement di↵erent Caesar ciphers. Let’s see how: suppose the message to encrypt is “elephants” and the keyword is “rats”. The first thing to do is to repeat the keyword until its length matches the one of the message.
