Will she finally have the answers she's looked for?" Donlea grabs you from the very beginning. You are mesmerized by the trial and the events of the evening where Alex's family was gunned down. Donlea eventually jumps to Alex as an investigator while also filling in the background of the story. It all leads to a wild ending. And a twist you feel coming but never believe he'll actually go there. The middle third of the book is slower than the beginning and end but still worth it. I did not want to stop reading this book. Vivienne Leheny does a fabulous performance with the audiobook narration. There are many emotional moments and she nails them. Another great thriller to add to the beach bag this year. Olá leitores! Hoje vou falar do livro A Garota do Lago de Charlie Donlea. O primeiro livro que li do autor foi Deixada para trás é eu já gostei muito da maneira que ele desenrola a história. 🔵 No livro Becca Eckersley foi assassinada na propriedade particular de sua família em uma pequena cidade, Summit Lake. O crime deixa a população chocada e intrigada, pois não aceitam o parecer da polícia sobre o caso. A jornalista Kelsey Castle é designada pelo chefe para cobrir a notícia depois de um tempo afastada do trabalho. De alguma forma ela se sente conectada com a vítima e ao longo da trama descobre que Becca guardava segredos importantes sobre si mesma e que também teria os seus expostos. 🔵 A escrita é muito envolvente. Com capítulos curtos que alternam entre passado e presente.. Acontecem muitas reviravoltas ao longo do livro, fazendo que o leitor tenha ainda mais sede de resposta. 🔵 O autor mexe com a cabeça do leitor apresentando alguns suspeitos que faz com que a trama se torne cada vez mais interessante. 🔵 Os personagens são bem desenvolvidos, ganhando características fortes e definindo o caráter ao longo da história. 🔵 Admiro muito a escrita do autor que consegue prender o leitor desde a primeira página é nos traz surpresas mesmo que nos últimos capítulos, quando pensamos que tudo que poderia ter acontecido ja aconteceu. This was it. I loved this book. The story was mesmerizing and uniquely well done. It’s was easy to follow despite a storyline jumping back and forth in time. All the characters were good, but my favorite was Livia, because of her strength and perseverance in finding out what happened to her sister. Crazy as it may sound, I absolutely loved the scenes when she was doing autopsies and coroner ride alongs. They were very well done. I even learned a thing or two about forensic pathology. Anyone who likes books with a strong women character would like this one. Author Charlie Donlea is a USA Today best selling author who was born and raised and continues to live in Chicago. His other books include Summit Lake (2016) and Don’t Believe It (2018). I listen to the book on Audible and the narrator Nina Alvamar did a superb job with this one. O livro da vez é: Não Confie em Ninguém A história é sobre Grace Sebold, uma estudante de medicina que viaja para a cidade de Santa Lúcia no Caribe para a comemoração do casamento de uns amigos. Entre os convidados estão alguns amigos, família e o namorado de Grace, Julian. Julian estava se programando em pedir Grace em casamento, mas é assassinado antes disso. Todas os indícios apontam para Grace, que acaba sendo condenada pelo crime. Grace permanece dez anos na prisão, mas em todo tempo alega ser inocente. Envia cartas para uma cineasta, Sidney Ryan, que produz documentários que tem intuito de reavaliar crimes reais, onde mostra pessoas inocentes serem condenadas. Sidney decide então investigar o caso de Grace. Conforme Sidney vai descobrindo os furos na investigação o telespectador vai acompahando tudo, mas algo muda o rumo das investigações e Siney não sabe mais em quem acreditar. Os episódios do documentário são baseado nas entrevistas que Sidney faz com a polícia, família, amigos e a própria Grace e através dele a história é construída. Como nos outros livros, Charlie me prendeu desde a primeira página, que mostra como Julian foi assassinado. Os personagens são muito bem construídos e definidos. Gostei que a dra Cutty (que aparece em Deixada para Trás) aparece nesse livro e é uma peça muito importante para desvendar o mistério. Quem não leu o outro livro não precisa se preocupar que não perderá o entendimento por conta disso. Cada novo capítulo acaba com mais dúvidas do que certezas e me fez pensar em alguns possíveis suspeitos além da própria Grace. Seria Grace inocente mesmo ou uma psicopata dissimulada? Quem mais teria motivos para assaninar Julian, ou será que não havia motivos pra isso? Para quem já leu A Garota do Lago e Deixada para Trás e gostou tenho certeza que vai gostar desse também. Para quem gosta do gênero é um livro que indico com certeza.
