Celebrating 43 years of #ChashmeBuddoor (08/05/1981), a classic romantic comedy about friendship and love, starring Farooq Shaikh, Deepti Naval, Rakesh Bedi, Ravi Baswani, and Saeed Jaffrey. Directed by Sai Paranjpye and produced by Gul Anand and Jayshree Anand — Makhija, this film captures the essence of youth and camaraderie.
The story revolves around three Delhi University students—Siddharth, Omi, and Jai—who stay in the city during their summer vacation. Their routine life takes a turn with the arrival of Neha, a charming young woman.
After directing the poignant drama "Sparsh," Sai Paranjpye switched gears dramatically to craft "Chashme Buddoor," a lighthearted comedy that explores male friendship with witty and sharp insights, avoiding clichéd slapstick humor.
The film shines with its realistic dialogue and natural interactions, especially in scenes like when Siddharth, trying to play it cool, offers Neha a ride, only to admit he'd been waiting for her. Neha, far from a typical damsel, reveals she hoped he would appear. This genuine exchange underscores their mutual attraction and understanding.
Another memorable moment is when Neha demonstrates a detergent’s effectiveness by washing a towel, which Siddharth sheepishly admits was already clean. The simplicity and honesty of their interactions make "Chashme Buddoor" feel as refreshing as a sudden rain shower.
The film also features a delightful proposal scene where Siddharth's nervousness meets Neha's playful challenge, showing the depth of their bond and the light-hearted nature of their relationship.
"Chashme Buddoor" remains a beloved example of how humor and heart can create a timeless story about the joys and surprises of everyday life.

80s BOLLYWOOD ! - 80s INDIE -200 ! - INDIES TOP 200 HINDI FILMS OF 80s BOLLYWOOD !
Hi there from the 80s everyone! Irrefutably, the least or second-least interesting illuminating & inspiring decade, of all 9 decades, in the 20th century history of Hindi Cinema. Under grips of a 'violent art' streak, in the newly sprung trend of heavily bloodied 'item violence', & mostly for fundamentally despairing & regular & regularized all-destructive (need I say, also art-destructive) storyboards, perhaps a natural side-effect mutating off the 70's 'Renaissance times', or perhaps as largely & widely believed, an onset of 'art liberalization' experienced by Indian cinema at start of the decade & just prior, away from the now helpless clutches of a hamstrung post-Emergency Govt, a decade prior to the 'economic & network liberalization' experienced by the nation as a whole, & if for more focused insight, brought on by an extreme & undesirable, misused mode & misdirected turn, adopted off the crossroads of the beautifully tantalizing space left behind by it's most pulsating & popular decade, the 70s. A time in arts, only it's American counterpart has been able to challenge & try surpass, in scale of blood & gore & evermore mindless destruction. Euphemistically referred to as 'The Mahabharat Era of Hindi Cinema', generally & simply called 'The Jungle Era'! That said, a decade, like the one before (only w/o any company this time), rescued greatly & arisen phenomenally, again, by one artist, The Caesar, His Majesty of the arts, Rajesh Khanna, amassing a quite unbelievable sum of 36 Films in 80s Top 50 films alone! Furthermore, with a total of 47 Films in 80s Top 100, & 52 in all in Top 200! That's more than 1/4th of an entire decade's noteworthy art, emerging from craftsmanship of just one man! Take a ride with Indies, along the most injudicious trek of time Indian cinema's seen. For this is as uplifting & art-serving & altogether memorable, as 80s desi gets! Deepti Naval and Farooq Sheikh's real-life friendship was a spill-over of their innocent onscreen romance
Deepti Naval and Farooq Sheikh’s real-life friendship was a spill-over of their innocent onscreen romance
It took Deepti Naval and Farooq Sheikh 30 years to reunite in 2011 film Tell Me O Kkhuda. The successful onscreen pair of the 80s had given us some nine iconic movies including Chashme Buddoor, Saath Saath, Katha and Faasle. But as much as we couldn’t take our eyes off their innocent onscreen romance, the two actors were good friends off camera too. “Farooq was a wonderful co-actor. The cinema…

I was curious but have u ever considered GIFFing old movies? I came across a Chashme Buddoor gif and it blew my mind lol
Hi anon! I do on occasion, but most of my old stuff is from the era I grew up with - 90s and 00s hindi cinema. I think the last vintage movie set I made was madhubala in mughal e azam.
