@restroom I watched the Nash Bridges movie today and here’s my short review
“Ok….. it’s a 7 and a half outta ten. The movie’s view of crime is very black and white (“once a cop always a cop” “once a criminal always a criminal”). The humor is nice, sometimes it slips into the boomer vs millennial type of jokes (millennials are snowflakes etc etc) , but in a perfect world this wouldn’t even be a cop movie, it would be a full-on comedy adventure without cop shenanigans. I feel like the movie was trying to… make up (?) for its copaganda by using its very diverse character cast mostly made up of POC and one trans person, groups that have been frequently harassed by the police throughout history (but the encouragement that Nash gave to Chloe, their resident tech nerd and trans woman, was nice.. made me go “aww” for a second).
The movie is beautiful, but nothing too outstanding, acting is solid for the most part, and the story was cool. The two minor storylines I liked were Cheech (I forgot his character’s name 😭) running a weed shop, and those other two partners on the team who were FWB, but you’ll never guess what… they fell in love (kinda wish we had gotten closure for it tho). I’ve been so used to getting shows (Miami Vice, Wiseguy, Just Legal) that heavily critique the system and point out its flaws and biases that I got whiplash just watching stuff like this 😭”
