Can all merpeople in your setting change their tails to legs or is Markus just a special case?

Markus definitely is not the only one, it entirely depends on a merfolk's lineage :))

Merfolk are capable of having children with humans, witches, and the like; a good chunk of the current merfolk population worldwide is a hybrid of sorts. It's up to the genetic lottery to allow these hybrids two forms they can swap between, bc if both parents have the fish gene, regardless of what they are, there's a chance that child will just be a full merm

That is to say that full merfolk can still access land and acquire legs, just through unconventional means ^^ with the help of charms, spells, or the aid of a witch, they can temporarily walk on land (although they may have some issue adjusting to their new legs lol)

yes!!! of course!!!! 🥺 since cherry blossom season is only ten days (💀) i was thinking of opening my island tomorrow—my sunday—for the day! so saturday eveningish, for our northern hemisphere friends? i’ll post a heads up/DODO code here on merms!!! probably around 10 am my time (AEST), and then just linger around from there. 😌 i haven’t finished the deku fic (💀💀💀), but this is the only way to show off the cherry blossoms so—🥹 we’ll have our playdate anyways. 🌷💕

ranking all of the dresses that rikki wears on h2o

disclaimer: this is based on my opinion only, which is entirely subjective! i’m also not certain that these are the only dresses rikki wears throughout the series, so if anyone wants to make the call out post feel free to @ me!

gonna rank these in ascending order, so first up we have...

1. rikki’s red dress from season one

of course the iconic red dress was going to be number one! this dress is a motif of a number of different things (including but not limited to: rikki and zane’s relationship, the increasing seriousness of said relationship, the development of rikki’s character during her relationship with zane, how rikki sees herself, how zane sees rikki, and how rikki sees zane seeing her). to me, it just screams rikki. it is elegant and feminine, sure, but the red colour is so striking, bordering on confrontational. the dress is lacy but not too flimsy nor delicate, representative of rikki’s vulnerability and the ‘tough girl’ front she often puts on. the asymmetrical hem is also unexpected, and her unkempt, wavy hair is absolutely perfect. up next is...

2. season three red dress

i spend a lot of time shitting on season three, but i have to hand it to the costume team: rikki’s season three red dress is iconic and beyond reproach. it’s an obvious throwback to its season one iteration given the state of her relationship with zane, but more grown up, elevated even. the silhouette is flattering, the colour is beautiful, it just shines in its understated simplicity. my one small grievance is the lack of accessories, but if anyone can pull off using a bar of soap as a clutch, it’s rikki. also sophie very visibly gay panics when she walks in the room so there’s that my third choice is...

3. season one black and red dress

honestly, i’m still not certain if the very brief season one cameo which is this outfit is a dress or a top and a skirt, but i thought i’d include it just in case. again, the black and red is quintessentially rikki, and the sheer, mesh undershirt is very of its time. the cherry red bag is a nice touch, too, both contrasting with and complementing the red of her top. not my fave of all time but a consistent, solid effort! up next we have...

4. season 3 black dress

i’m ambivalent towards the black dress that rikki wears in season three. i like that it’s black, and the shape is nice, but there’s something very… un-rikki about it? maybe it’s the flower appliqué featuring an assortment of birds paired with the fact that our girl is probably the least in touch with nature of all of the merms, it just isn’t very her. perhaps i would feel differently if she wore anything but a pair of tan, open-toe, slingback, mid-heel wedges to complete the look, which is the least in-character thing for rikki after the latter half of season three. the bangles are weird and misplaced, too. next!

5. season 3 blue dress

i take back what i said about season three’s costume team. this dress is my villain origin story. i don’t mind rikki in blue, but she suits lighter, pastel tones, and this particular shade of royal blue does absolutely nothing for her. the fit is unflattering, and the bow detail on the bust would be ugly on anyone, but on rikki it seems almost inconsistent with her character. sure, she goes through some, ahem, development in season three, but we all know rikki chadwick wouldn’t be caught dead wearing a dress with a huge bow on the front, no matter the season. i don’t even know how to try and salvage this one; perhaps a dress like this or even this in a muted pastel? either choice is elegant, feminine, and simple, but has a little edge, like rikki!

what did you guys think of my ranking? i am accepting constructive criticism at this time! is rikki chadwick the biggest fashion icon of the 2000s? did i miss anything? should rikki have worn a suit to sam and don’s wedding? will we ever be free from the tyranny of season three? let me know!

I have actually been discussing an AU with @rewrite-a-million-dreams (which is v long and too complex to explain, but to say the least there’s magic and dragons in it) but I have been plotting out a story based around our ramblings.

That’s easy, this was something i posted on AO3 a little while ago, it made my heart flip a little bit bc it was one of the first comments I got that was really long (warning a little NSFW):

“This is highly cute and also hilarious and I like it a lot AAAAAAA!!!I have many questions including and now exclusive to why the heck does Barnum have so many spare pairs of clothes in his office? Like dude please, stop living in your office, go home and get some rest and have a bath and change there. If you have a wardrobe in your office then you are working Too Much™. Phillip is so cute in this and also hot damn that boi can do the splits on the lyra in titepants, THAT is a good image yo. Him being worried about his partner is blessed and adorable. He is one good egg. I’m glad he didn’t take advantage of Phin while he was in a state and was 200% focused on helping him get the stuff out of his system. And Poor Phin bab was in so much pain. He needs a good hug that is what he needs. Also all the teeny little things helped establish a mood of environment. I really like the small details like that the little silk pillows on their sofa are Phillips, and that they only brought in that sofa so that Phin could nap when he’s overworking but they also use it to get up to hyjinks together.Their relationship is very heartfelt with a lot of compassion and understanding and I like that they talked things through and Phillip was reassuring and thoughtful. They are really well written and good rounded characters with a lot of emotion and a solid narrative to follow.The story was well paced and easy to read with a really good mix of hysterically funny bits as well as quite touching moments which I think played out really well in terms of the mood of the story.You are a very good writer as well as an artist and I’d love to read more of your work. Like being able to write filth is one thing, but good god you do it with such attention to detail I? Am awed??? I find that it’s a way to enhance feelings a character may have for another– in this case Phil towards Phin– and you write Phin like he’s living poetry with verses tattooed in every tensing muscle and Phil loves every moment of it. AND I LOVE IT TOO. The detail makes it obvious that Phin is sensitive to all this touching and groping, and it’s! What! He! Deserves!!!!!

I love how Phil kept teasing him too? LMAO. Using the “~” is usually so wild to me but it really conveys this cooing tone… which, again, Phin fucking DESERVES. Augh!!!!

Absolutely wonderful fic. I loved it. I loved the pacing! And seriously, your descriptions are ART. I cannot fucking deal.

As a completely irrelevant sidenote I thought there’d be an explanation for it, but why is Phin reluctant about receiving in this universe? I AM CURIOUS, AS SOMEONE WHO ONLY EVER WRITES HIM AS RECEIVING, SO. also i don’t read the discord stuff oops

🎈 What’s a spoiler for a WIP or series?

Well,,,i may have spoiled one on the first question lol but I can throw a little tidbit from the back and forth convo between me and Jac:

“okay. so.

to try and summarize it, Phillip (at the time he was a prince) comes across Phineas who he thinks is an average person during a storm and Phin got injured by dragon hunters (who are a big deal in Phillip’s kingdom) and ofc Phil, being a good person, takes him into his castle for shelter and to make sure he’s well (yes Phil is a sorcerer/wiccan) Phineas, not wanting to share his true identity, tells Phillip he used to be a knight for another kingdom and has spent his days since then wandering and bc Phillip has taken a big interest in Phineas, Phillip appoints him his knight whenever he becomes king lets say his father died a few months beforehand and Phil couldnt be happier 

After the coronation party, when it’s official that Phillip is now king, he finds Phineas half transformed in his bedroom (bc the poor thing got stressed out from the party and saw a lot of people wearing jewelry and armor made from dragon scales)”

hi merms different anon but have you tried it with sour lemon curd? or at least, is it a common topping in AUS? It cuts the sweetness beautifully. The berries we get here aren't really sweet either unless you get the crazy expensive export grade ones so it's not so cloyingly sweet.

Funny enough, the sweetness comes from the granadilla pulp on top. There's also a strand of gooseberries native to South Africa that are deliciously tart and pop like a cherry tomato when you bite them that we like to pair ours with. On the very rare occasions we had pavlova, we used to pick lemons, orange gooseberries or green figs from my grandmother's garden to make them

oh, i’ve definitely seen people use lemoncurd as a topping for their pavs!!! 🧐 maybe i’ll try that??? my mum used to always keep a jar of that and lemon butter, for toast. 🍞🍋 but i will look up combos. 🥺 green figs sound amazing, though—i don’t think gooseberries are native for us here. 🥺 my original idea was cherries, since they’re in season but… eh. 🥹 maybe… lemoncurd and sliced mango? 🧐 i feel like it needs a third element; will have to experiment and report back. 🧐🧐
