Another 12 months of animatin', illustratin' and video creatin' in the can! This was another pretty stacked year for freelance work and building up my YouTube channel. Read on for more details on each month!

January:

The year kicked off with the release of What a Waste, which I animated at the end of last year. I created a poster to celebrate it's launch.

I also had some artwork in print via an article in LeftLion magazine!

I also illustrated my OC Drillbot ReV for the year of the rabbit and put out a new animation showreel.

February:

I did a valentines card for CherryT of the pair of us in Mario & Luigi style. I was also commissioned to do an edit of the van animation I did last year, this time with a car and some other minor tweaks.

March:

At the start of this month I hit over 1000 subscribers on YouTube, only took 17 years! To celebrate I put together a quick video talking about the past, present and future of the channel, using it as a test to see how I could start making more fully-edited, scripted videos using my PNGTuber.

The first of these was an almost hour long video exploring my DVD/Blu-Ray collection.

April:

This was the month that I really pushed to get a load different videos out on my channel, with full illustrated thumbnails for each! This mostly consisted of a six-part let's play of the Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, cut down from an April fools day livestream.

I also did an impressions video about the Super Mario Bros movie and a scripted video about Easter eggs I snuck into my animations, just in time for Easter! I also made a speedpaint video for one of the video thumbnails and made a new logo for the speedpaint videos.

There was also a birthday card illustration for CherryT inspired by the Mario movie!

May:

May was a pretty quiet month, mainly consisting of two illustrations: a quick one of an OC for mermay and a piece of fan art of vTuber Asha the Game Genie. Both of these were captured off-stream and turned into speedpaint videos.

I also made a supercut of a Netherlands travel vlog from 2018 with a bunch of additional footage that I never got around to editing before, in time for the 5th anniversary of our friends wedding that we attended that year!

June:

My first big freelance project finally arrived between May and June, an informational film about Credit Unions, done in a similar style to several films I did last year, but with more colour in the mix.

I also did a couple of livestreams this month, namely a reaction stream to a Nintendo Direct and a Sonic anniversary stream, a part of which was edited into a video of me drawing obscure Sonic characters from memory.

July:

With that freelance project done and dusted I dedicated most of this month to some personal animating stuff: mainly giving my PNGTuber a fresh coat of paint by improving all the animations with more frames. I made a scripted video about the process.

I also made big progress on a re-animated collab shot that I finally finished in November.

August:

Browsing my pages you'd think I did absolutely nothing this month, but I was in fact deep in researching for a video series I plan to make for YouTube in the near future when I have more spare time for it. What started as a single short video idea deep-dived into a rabbit hole of fascinating stuff that I can't wait to share with you all!

I also started animating an intro for this video series, which is currently sitting in sketch form and will be returned to next year when I can!

September:

My YouTube planning had to be stuck on hold as another big freelance project landed on my lap: an informational film about community lenders. There is some pretty fun scenes in this, and yet another loan shark character! This took up all of September and was released at the end of October.

October:

Just as I wrapped up the previous project another even bigger one was being cooked up: a sequel to What a Waste! Once the filming of the puppetry and the recording of the voice talent was ready I could get to work on once again animating faces for the returning apple character and the five new characters!

What a Waste was a pretty experimental film but this time around I had a working system in place to jump straight in and assumed I would be able to get this one done in less time. I technically did get it done in less time because the deadline for it was much tighter, but it was a crunch to do so, consisting in total of over 2000 assets!

In the short space between these projects I illustrated Rouge the Bat based on a Twitter trend.

November:

November was mostly taken up by wrapping up production on Apple-y Ever After. In total it took about five weeks, about a week longer than I planned, not helped by me choking on a slice of potato that rendered shallowing anything difficult for weeks! It was a good thing CherryT was around at the time to perform a Heimlich maneuver on me! Absolute life saver!

A teaser trailer was released mid way through the month.

Once that was done with I went back and finally finished this shot for the Wario Ware GOLD re-Animated collab that I had been chipping away at on-and-off for around three years! It's done pretty nicely on both Newgrounds and YouTube. The full collab should be out sometime next year! Speaking of which, I have another shot reserved that I need to crack on with when I'm less busy with freelance work!

December:

I've started another big animation project that will run until the end of January and hopefully be released in Feb. This was the third project in a row with hardly a break in between and that, on top of the film work, left me feeling pretty burnt out, hence this quick doodle.

Digital Eclipse summed up the birthday cake CherryT made for me best!

I spent the spare time I had at the start of the month to make a video about the latest birthday cake CherryT made me. I also took this opportunity to edit remasters of previous cake videos, including one that was never finished. Here's the playlist for all six of them.

Apple-y Ever After finally released near Xmas, which meant I could publish this poster I made for it. Next month there will be a making of video published by Deadline and so far the film has been quite the hit, currently sitting at around 40K views!

Finally, I published an old Xmas animation from 2010 on YouTube, but because the original video had copyrighted music baked into the sound effects, I remade the soundtrack from scratch!

Tioman  - az uj torzshelyem

Timonara egy 12 oras taxi-repulo-taxi-busz-seta-komp komboval sikerult eljutnom, es bar egy ilyen 12 oras utazasnak a 35 fokban megvannak a maga melypontjai, de ezert a szigetert megerte. A kompjegy jellegzetessege, hogy veszel egyet online, es a visszaigazolason rajta van, hogy adomentes, ezt nem erted, de a kikotoben megerted, mert nem eleg, hogy van egy online jegyed, elmesz egy ablakhoz, ahol egy a4-es spiralfuzetbol ellenorzik tenyleg nem csak photoshoppolt jegyeket mutogatsz a telefondorol. Aztan kapsz valami cetlit, amivel visszakuldenek ugyanahhoz az ablakhoz, ahol legeloszor mutogattad a telefonodon levo e-jegyet, ott adnak egy masik jegyet, es kerik, hogy fizess be 30 ringgit adot. Ezt befizeted, es atiranyitanak egy szomszed ablakhoz, ahol kapsz egy ujabb jegyet, ez 20 ringgit, ami a nemzeti parkba (mert egesz Tioman az) valo bejutasod garantalja. Azt hinned kesz vagy, de nem, mert visszakuldenek a spiralfuzetes lanyhoz, aki ad neked egy beszallokartyat, amit a beszallaskor elvesznek.

Tiomanra nem foglaltam szallast, mert online tul draganak talaltam, es ugy voltam vele, hogy ugyis talalok valamit. Ez nem teljesen igy lett, mivel valami nemzeti talalkozo volt a szigeten, igy egy csomo mindent befoglaltak. Lealkudtam, es ki akarom valasztani az egyiket, mondja a csavo, hogy ne ezt vigyem, hanem a rozsaszint. Modnom jolvan, otthon is hasolnlo gusztustalannal jarok, ide is jo lesz ez. Elindulok, es alig birom tekerni, mert ferde a fogaskerek, es lejt a pedal, visszafordulok, de addigra mar sehol az elado, csak a masik srac, es mondom neki, hogy csereljunk mar. Csak ezutan esett le, miert a rozsaszin. A masik 7-nek, valami olyan fatalis hibaja volt, amivel elindulni se lehetett. Az is ironikus volt, amikor masnap estefele a falu masik vegeben eppen az alkohol boltot keresem, es jon ez a srac, hogy lejart a 24 ora (nem tudom, hanykor kezdhetett el keresni, es hogy tenyleg keresett-e vagy az egesz veletlen volt), de mondtam neki, hogy mivel nem lehet ugyse rendeltetes szerint hasznalni, ezert legyen mar az, hogy majd ejszaka visszaviszem. Egy ilyen kis hazban laktam elso ket nap, majd atkoltoztem kempingezni a Cabanas moge. 

De ne szaladjunk ennyire elore. Ami a legelejen feltunt, hogy mindenki meg a szokasosnal is jobban be van lazulva, mindenki mosolyog, es tenyleg egy minimalis feszultsegre utalo jelet nem lehet latni az emberek arcan.

Az en meglatasom szerint ennyi nap tavlatabol viszont buvar partizan, eroszak beszelo es antiszemita.

Miutan kipanaszkodta magat a kempingjeben ejszakankent uralkodo muezim es karaoke uralta allapotokrol, el kezdtunk beszelni a buvarkodasrol, es egybol felajanlotta, hogy o hozta magaval a felszerelest Ausztraliabol, es ha talal olyan helyet, ahol lehet palackot berelni, elvisz olcsoert. Nekem nem nagyon tetszett ez az attitud, mert ez azt is jelenti, hogy elveszi a bizniszt az itteni buvar boltoktol, igy illedelmesen megkoszontem a lehetoseget, es valami kitero valasszal bucsut intettunk egymasnak egy idore. A kovetkezo talalkozas nehany oraval kesobb volt, amikor egy kedves francia parral dumaltam, akiket elozoleg o vitt el buvarkodni, kerdeztem milyen volt, tul lelkesnek nem tuntek, de mondtak, hogy rendben volt. Ekkor megerkezett Mike is, aki felajanlotta, hogy meg van annyi levego a palackban, hogy meruljunk egyet. Eleg spontan volt, es a franciak is tuleltek, hat rabolintottam. Innentol mar adta magat, hogy odakoltozhetek melejuk egy masik satorba az uj helyukon, ami olcsobb, es joval kozelebb van mindenhez, mint az elozo szallasom, es masnap megint elmentunk buvarkodni. Ettol fuggetlenul Mikeot nem kedveltem meg jobban, sot minel jobban megismertem, annal tobb ellenerzesem alakult az iranyaba. A csavo egy percre sem birja befogni a szajat, amikor ebren van, es ezzel nem tulzok, ugyanis ha az ejszaka kozepen felebredt az uj torzshelyemrol, a Cabanasbol szurudo hangzavarra, nem atallott felebreszteni a feleseget, hogy megossza az ezzel kapcsolatos erzeseit, es beszelt addig, amig ujra el nem aludt. Gondolhatna valaki, hogy buvarkodni azert megsem lehet olyan szornyu vele, hiszen a viz alatt nem lehet beszelni, viszont ami a viz alatt nem valtozik az az ember attitudje. A viz alatt mindent megfogott, ami nem mergezo vagy veszelyes, mindent megzavart, folyamatosan felkavarta a homokot, ez elso nap meg nem volt annyira egyertelmu, ahhoz tul keves volt az ido, a masodik alkalomra viszont ez is vilagossa valt, igy megkoszontem, es tobbet nem mentem vele. Az elso dolog kabe, amit megtanitanak egy tanfolyamon egyebkent, hogy ne erints meg SEMMIT.

A felesege az a fajta no, aki szerintem egesz eleteben szenvedett, ezert fogalma sincsen milyen lehet az, amikor jol erzi magat, valoszinuleg igy tudja elviselni ezt a helyzetet, de persze mindenkit mas tesz boldogga, nem akarok iteletet nyilvanitani, nekem ez volt a benyomasom. A nonek egyebkent borrakja volt az arcan, amit mutottek, ezert nem nagyon lehet napon, buvarkodni nem igazan szeret, vizben nem lattam egyszer sem azon az egy alkalman kivul, amikor Mike megis elvitte buvarkodni, es harmadik napra sebesre kaparta az osszes csipest a laban, amivel aztan amugy se mehetett volna vizbe, szoval az egesz napjat a sator melleti szekben toltotte. Van egy tippem, hogy ez a nyaralas nem az o otlete volt.

Cherry, a hazigazdank, egy 40 eves filippino holgy, aki szerintem a vilag legcukibb es talan legartatlanabb lenye eleg sokat stresszelt Mike miatt, hiszen minden panaszt neki kellett elviselni. Cherrynek ket gyermeke van 9 es 11 evesek, akik a Fulop-szigeteken elnek, Cherry 8 eve dolgozik Malajziaban, mert egyedulallo anyakent, ha nem keres eleget elveszik a gyerekeket tole. Eleget viszont csak itt tud keresni, otthon nem, ezert a gyerekek a nagybatyjara vannak bizva. Sokat beszelgettunk es nagyon megszerettem.

Mike allando antiszemita megjegyzeseivel nehez volt mit kezdenem, amik leginkabb a muszlimok altalanos utalataban nyilvanult meg egy muszlim orszagban. Adta magat kerdes, hogy miert itt nyaral, de erre direkt valasza nem volt, azt viszont nem is tudta titkolni mennyire skot, szoval ausztraliabol itt lenni gazdasagosabb, mint otthon maradni, ha sok idore jossz. Rajta keresztul ismertem meg Bent is, a franica freedivert (ezt vajon hogyan forditjak?) es szobraszt, aki 2 eve Penangon el. Az angolom akarmennyit is fejlodik vannak akcentusok, amivel meg a mai napig nem tudok mit kezdeni, ilyen pl a francia. Ben raadasul minel jobban belelendul a beszelgetsbe, annal jobban el is akarja magyarazni, emiatt lelassul, en pedig egy ido utan keptelen vagyok kovetni. Azert volt egy-ket jo delutanunk, sokat meg tudtam rola, arrol, hogy Franciaorszag milyen szar, hogy a kormany, csak a sajat muveszeit penzeli, az ellenzekieket nem, es dumaltunk a 70-es 80-as evek amerikajanak alter zenejerol, meg arrol is, hogy van egy 20 eves fel-japan lanya, aki csak partizni akar, sokkolo.

Ahogy teltek a napok, Mikekal annal kevesebbet erintkeztem, es ezt nem is hagyta szo nelkul, allandoan jott, hogy mi van, es az nem volt valasz, hogy semmi, csak szeretnek egyedul lenni. A hely elmelkeztett a Kahura, mert ezek a sracok is kb. ugyanabban a munkataborban vannak, mint amiben mi. Ott elnek, a hely a nappalijuk, minden ott tortenik, nincs hova menni, es altalaban nem is nagyon akarsz. Foleg emiatt ereztem magam otthon az elso naptol kezdve.

Voltam meg ketszer buvarkodni az utolso teljes napomon nem Mike-kal, hajoval. Az oktaton es a kapitanyon kivul ott volt egy cseh par. Gyonyoru korallokat lattam, bar a latasi viszonyok most nem voltak a legjobbak, viszont eros aramlatok voltak, ami miatt olyan volt a viz alatt, mint amilyen az urben lehet, ez nagyon tetszett.

Utolso este koncert volt a Cabanasban, egy ideje szinte egyaltalan nem iszom, de most raszetek a sracok, hogy igyak mar, aminek az lett a vege, hogy orakat ugraltunk mezitlab a betonon a 35 fokban, es az, hogy elhagytam az utolso napra kiberelt szobam kulcsat. Az utobbi megoldodtt, mert meg az ejszaka kozepen kinyittatam valami ott tevezo sracokkal, akik jamesbondosan, plasztik kartyaval tettek ezt, de a talpam...

Masnap nehany ora alvas utan, gyors osszekaptam meg, vartam Cherryt, hogy odaadjam a maradek penzt, es kifizessem a kulcsmasolas koltsegeit. Megkoszontem mindent, majd bucsut intettem, es rohantam a komphoz, eddigre elegge beutott a masnap. Nehany ora mulva rajottem, hogy ez nem is egyszeru masnap (csodalkoztam is, mert nem vittem tulzasba az ivast), hanem inkabb laz. A komp utan 6 oras buszut, buszut elott viz vasarlas, buszon felismeres, hogy a vizes palack ujratoltott, igy ket es fel ora varakozas lazasan ujabb viz vasarlasig, ezuttal ellenorzom a palackot. Mazli, hogy a buszon a klima forditottan aranyosan dolgozott a busz teljesitmenyevel igy nem fagytam halalra. A buszallomasrol meg be kellett a kozpontba vonatoznom, de ott felszedett Maziah kocsival, aki haza vitt, adott paracetamolt, es masnapra megjavultam nagyjabol. 

Utolso nap Maziahval logtam, akit elkisertem egy munkamegbeszelesre, aztan a nagymamajahoz aztan az orvosahoz, ebedeltunk, es dumaltunk, ugy nez ki augusztusban meglatogat Magyarorszagon. Este elrepultem Sri Lankara.
