do you have anderperry and/or dps headcanons you feel very strongly about?
OH BOY DO I EVER!!!!!
- Neil’s favorite thing to do is come up behind Todd and hug him and just… stay there for any period of time. From anywhere between a minute and the rest of the time they’re in a given place. Todd never comments on it, Neil never explains, it’s just a thing.
- Todd always stands on Neil’s right and vice versa Neil always stands on Todd’s left. If it’s the other way around, no matter what they’re doing, they’ll switch places because it feels wrong.
- Neil gets too caught up in retelling Todd his dreams in the morning so it can take him upwards of ten minutes to do his tie, which sometimes makes him late to leaving, so to combat it Todd started doing Neil’s tie in the morning while he talked.
- Neil and Ginny (and by extension Chet) are cousins by marriage. Does that make sense at all? No. But I do not care.
- Charlie was the tallest of the group up until tenth grade when everyone else got growth spurts and left him in the dust.
- Cameron lives with his grandparents.
- The Anderson family is HUGE (I’m talking 4 pairs of grandparents, 6 aunts, 5 uncles, 8 cousins kind of huge) and Jeff and Todd are the only boys in their generation.
- Jumping off from the last one: Todd’s cousins used to use him as a guinea pig because he was the youngest.
- Mrs. Perry’s first name is Nancy.
- Mr. And Mrs. Anderson are named Patrick and Rebecca respectively.
- Out of the entire group, Pitts is the only one that’s ever actually had a girlfriend by the start of the movie. (For like 3 weeks in 7th grade, but still)
- Ginny and Chris have complete opposite tastes in music and are always exchanging records for the other to see if they like.
- Todd loves snakes.
- Knox jumps a solid half a foot in the air when scared.
- Meeks hates spiders. Charlie loves them. You can imagine how that tends to go down.
- Neil had always wanted a dog but could never get one because his mom has a fur allergy.
- Cameron does origami in his spare time.
- Meeks can’t do a cartwheel and EVERYONE makes fun of him for it.
- Neil had a one-sided beef with Jeff pre-junior year that he could never justify or rationalize until he met Todd.
- Chris does Ginny’s lipgloss for her every morning before school.
- Todd Anderson autism + Neil Perry AuDHD is real TO ME.
- Neil and Todd can’t be alone together for longer than five minutes without breaking out into hysterical laughter over essentially nothing.
- Neil and Charlie once tried to convince a store clerk they were orphan brothers for free ice cream. It did not work.
- Todd can’t cook for shit and is on ‘handing-people-things-they-need’ duty. Neil can cook just barely. Cameron, somehow, is a master chef. Knox consistently nicks his fingers with knives and is no longer allowed in the kitchen.
- In a modern setting, Knox would absolutely have two moms.
- Neil and Todd’s wardrobes have essentially morphed into one singular wardrobe and they can’t differentiate what belongs to who anymore. They’ve stopped caring and just wear each others clothes if they want to.
- Neil is a master at drunk karaoke. Charlie is a master at drunkenly pressuring Neil into doing drunk karaoke.
- The ribbon Chris wears in her hair is a gift from Ginny.
- Pitts is almost scarily good at checkers.
- Charlie can hold his breath for almost three minutes.
- Neil is a biter.
- ‘Spazs’ name is Eugene, Stick’s name is Roy, Hopkins’ first name is Albert.
- Keating’s implied british wife(?) is named Jessica.
- Charlie is the only one of the guys that can SOMEWHAT dance.
- More often than not, Todd is actually the one to reach out and hold Neil’s hand rather than the other way around.
- Todd’s middle name is Augustus.
And that’s all the ones I can remember right now!!! Questions, comments, concerns?????

Hi : )
I'm making a dps fic that takes place in the years Keating would've been attending Welton but from the perspective of Neil's mother who was going to Henley hall at the time
It's basically the maraudersifcation of dead poet society, that's what I've been calling it😭
It'll have alot of the parents like charlies and the other poets parents, both the fathers who would've been going to welton but it won't be focused on them but the original dead poets will be making appearances, also the others who would've been going to ridgeway (basically just Tom perry) will also be present and so much other things I'm so excited to write about
I think it'll just be fun, I've seen the idea on tiktok (unfortunately i cant find the video anymore ☹️ )and from one of my moots on dpstwt so this is just my addition🤲
I might post updates on here, it'll take time because I want it to be the best I can and because I have a bunch of other ideas I need to do + I go to in person school now so im busy with that😞😞
It'll be a long fic though I'm not sure exactly how long but definitely more then 10 chapters

I’m kinda upset at how they decided to portray the Knox Overstreet and Chris Noel thing. I do like, and this is just my interpretation, how they made each of the kids a sort of different representation of literature in it’s different forms. Like for Neil, he was more of the actor that wants to leave his audience and himself feeling something, Charlie was more of the rebellious side of literature and how you use it to impact society, Todd was more of what I imagine just a pure poet is, etc. As for Knox, I felt like he was supposed to be the romantic part of literature, the kind that spend hours upon hours crafting words for just one person because your feelings are just that big and meaningful, the stories that spin tales of love, and that could have been interesting to watch.
But the romance he had with Chris was just kinda weird I felt. In the beginning, Chris had a sort of positive, if not neutral opinion about Knox. Then, as time went on and she got to know him better, she started to dislike him more and more, and would straight up tell him to please leave her alone over and over again. I get that they wanted it to be like ‘if you truly feel like your in love then never give up’ or something, but she was clearly not into it. When Knox finally crafted a poem about his love, she wasn’t moved, his words didn’t reach her, she was upset, she wanted him to stop. I felt bad for her; I wanted Knox to back off too at that point. And then, at the end, she just, agrees to go with him to the play? Like, she literally came there to ask Knox to leave her alone, had no interest in him, and then out of nowhere she just did a full 180 and went to the play with him? I just didn’t like it.
If they wanted a romance, I feel like they could have gone all the way, make it full on Shakespearean. Make him write dozens upon dozens of poems dedicated to her that she accidently discovers, upon which she writes a somewhat clumsy attempt at one to give to him but it’s genuine and sweet all the same. Make Chet Danburry, her boyfriend, and Chris actually be in a fake relationship that they need to keep up for some important complicated reason, leaving Chris to angst about how she can’t be with her true love Knox, and Knox angsts about how Chris must not truly love him if she can’t break up with Chet, and have Chet angst because secretly actually loves Chris but doesn’t want to tell her because their relationship is supposed to be fake and now she’s in love with Knox. Or just something like that, I don’t know, that might be to much to try and mix in with the movie. Maybe they could have just made it so Chris and Knox really do fall in love through the power of poetry instead of Chris feeling like she’s being harassed and then giving in at the end.

The funniest thing about the Ginny/Chris/Knox ship is the implication that not only did Knox steal Chet’s girlfriend, but his sister too
Chet can’t catch a break smh

yk nothing will ever be so wild to me that dps attempted to convince its audience that chet sucks when all we really see textually of the guy is him being a bit of a teenage meathead and him rightfully beating up the guy assaulting his girlfriend pls

I’m indecisive
(Ginny asks Chet to let her borrow one of his pants, so if Chet punches someone, is because one of his so called friends is an asshole who sees how Ginny wears pants and only dance with Chris, and is being a homophobe about it)

haha hey what if. newsies dead poets au
AFISNDOANSOANFN IT DELETED MY FIRST ANSWER. FINE. WHATEVER. ANYWAYS.
so I’m thinking there are two ways this can go down-
(with me flying fast and loose between 92sies and livesies)-
one: the poets become newsies. essentially they’ll be “filling in” the roles each newsie brings to the film/show. neil is jack, because of course he is. he’s the charismatic leader who needs more therapy than he can pay for. his davey is obviously todd, because he’s the shy, smart kid that likes to be hidden behind his boyfriend best friend. charlie is the comedic relief of a best friend, making him race. and since knox is his best friend who’s more than half in love with him, he can be the other comedic relief of albert. we all know meeks and pitts are in love (guys, they dance together. what?), so they can take the place of kid blink and mush, respectively. do I have to include cameron? I feel like I have to include cameron. I guess he can take the spot of boots, which feels rude to boots, but I think he knows I’m sorry about it, so we’re good. keating, of course, is our father figure news reporter, and chris is sarah (WHICH MAKES GINNY HER KATH AND OH MY GOD I LOVE THAT IM SO SMART). mr. perry can be snyder, the rat, and mr. nolan is pulitzer. and stick is crutchie (no, I do not care that he’s not technically a character. he is my baby, and he can be neil’s little brother. fight me.)
I really like that one, actually.
two: the newsies become poets. same concept, other way around. now, the most obvious choice is to make jack and davey neil and todd again, but that’s a cop-out and I refuse. so. crutchie deserves to be todd, because they’re both so cute. davey can be neil, with jack being his charlie (does that mean davey/crutchie? I don’t know. is javid platonic in any scenario? I think not.). finch is meeks, albert is pitts. race is now our knox, pining HARD after- wait for it- our chet danburry character, mr. spot conlon, who is engaged (against his will) to katherine pulitzer, the wealthy daughter of the headmaster, joseph pulitzer (sarah needs to come steal kath away so race can marry a rice man). les is cameron, but specifically livesies les. the other les(es) are too good to be cameron’s character. snyder can be mr. perry (AHHHH. DAVEY WHAT HAPPENED YOU POOR SOUL). and denton is still keating because I don’t know who else would work there.
…well, damn. I love both of those. option one’s definitely more practical and sane, but I adore the chaos and hot mess that is option two. oh well. let me know which ones you guys like.

@chrisginnyweek day 2!!
day 2 prompt: music
my interpretation: a fic inspired by a song, so this is entirely based on would that i by hozier
summary: chris and ginny are the only ones left awake camping in the woods with the poets, chris looks back on her past relationships and realises she really has been in love with ginny all along
also on ao3!!
fell in love with the fire long ago
Chris had never been camping before, not even on family vacations as a child. But that all changed when she befriended the boys from Welton, when she started dating Ginny Danburry. The nine of them had all ventured out into the forest together, setting up tents in a circle with a fire pit in the middle. Chris felt out of her comfort zone, but in the best way possible. She’d never been allowed to do things like this before, but now she was doing them anyway. The poets’ personalities seemed to have rubbed off on her, Carpe Diem and all.
It helped that she was with Ginny. Ginny always made her feel more confident than she ever had before, and she would always be grateful that she had her in her life, not only as a girlfriend but as a best friend, too. That was why she leaned even closer to her, sitting by the warmth of the fire. The boys had spent the evening running through the trees chanting poetry at one another so were exhausted and had all gone into their tents to sleep. Chris and Ginny, however, weren’t tired, and were happy with the peace and privacy they were given as a result of the poets’ energetic outburst.
They sat next to the fire, which still seemed to glow with some vigour considering how long it had been lit. The flames caused their surroundings to dance, the branches of the trees creating strange shadows. If it weren’t for the comfort of Ginny’s warm embrace, she might have been scared. But Ginny held her tight, her touch soft. Her wavy dark brown hair seemed to dance in the breeze, occasionally blowing into Chris’s face and tickling her. The pure comfortable silence of the moment gave Chris some time to contemplate a lot of things about her life – her relationships, mostly.
She never did anything like this with her past boyfriends, neither of them set her alight quite like Ginny did. They were more like the forest surrounding her – sure, it was pretty, and fun at times, but it was nothing compared to the blaze of a fervent fire.
Dating Chet seemed like so long ago, and her relationship with him was more for show than anything else. She didn’t think she ever truly felt anything more than friendship for him, and she wouldn’t have been surprised if he didn’t either. It was mostly convenience, a way to ensure her family continued to keep contact with the Danburrys. Looking back on it, Chris was certain that her intrinsic need to keep contact with the family wasn’t anything to do with their jock of a sportsman son, but instead their star daughter, who shone brighter than ever on the stage of a theatre. Chris and Ginny had been friends prior to dating Chet, and she didn’t want to lose that friendship, she couldn’t. She felt oddly drawn to the girl from the beginning, like a moth to a flame – if only it hadn’t taken her as long to figure out why that was.
Chris’s short-lived relationship with Knox was inevitably going to end; it was never intended to be anything serious. They barely knew each other, and their personalities clashed more than they attracted. It was Knox that pursued her first, and she was never really interested. She only went on a few dates with him to stop him from bothering her about it. No, dating Knox was nothing compared to the life she was currently living, sitting under the thick canopy of the forest, cuddled up tight to her beautiful girlfriend, wrapped in a thick green blanket. Chet and Knox both made her feel as though she was in their shadows – Chet was the star of the football team and Knox’s father was a well-known lawyer - she was simply their cheerleader girlfriend. She never felt like that with Ginny. Despite how blinding and bright a person she was, Chris never felt overshadowed by her. They were equals, always.
Now though, Chris would gladly be in Ginny’s shadow. The light from the campfire caused her to glow in the most gorgeous way possible, the flickers of light reflecting on her skin. All of her features were highlighted by the light, all of them perfect to Chris. She looked so pure, so natural, as though the fire was her. Ginny was a flame, burning through Chris’s mind in all the best ways, tearing down the thick trees that were her relationships with Chet and Knox, and making her glow in return. Chris thought that perhaps she’d always been in love with Ginny, from the first day they met. Ever since then, Ginny had been the only person at the forefront of her mind, like a flame distracting her from everyone and everything surrounding them both. She’d heard the concept of twin flames and never believed they could be real until she met Ginny. Now she was sure, maybe not that their flames had always been identical, but that she had inherited the same flame as her, both shining as bright as each other.
Of course, Chris new the dangers of the flame. They couldn’t be together publicly, neither of their families would accept them; barely anyone would. The two girls being together was a risk, a risk of a wildfire that could easily let loose and catch them both in its path of destruction. Still, Chris didn’t think she could care. Their flame was stronger than that wildfire, more powerful. Their relationship was still new, still pure, and that excited Chris more than anything. She couldn’t wait for it to continue, to see where the flame would lead them next.
At the thought, she instinctively moved even closer to her girlfriend, and Ginny held her tight. How could Chris have ever thought anyone else was the one for her when this perfect girl was here, and was so good to her? Ginny Danburry was a roaring fire, and Chris knew she’d fallen in love with her long ago.
