Headcanons of Steele and Boyce in their teen years.

This was a request.

1) Steele was very badly behaved back in the day.

2) Boyce would visit his grandfather in PontyPandy in the summer, so him and Steele where aware of each others existence, but they weren’t really that close until around 13.

3) They became friends because they got rescued by the fire service together (Steele got stuck on on a roof, Boyce climbed up to go save him.)

4) Sometimes had paper plane throwing contests

5) Went to the same school, but Boyce was in the year above Steele.

6) Used to think they where proper hard for smoking cigarettes at 17

Headcanon about the Boyce family

Chief Fire Officer Horatio Boyce was born in Cardiff, Wales on 18th April 1940 to a Catholic family of Welsh, Irish, Dutch and Scandinavian heritage.

His father, William Boyce, a postman, was born on 1907 in Northern Ireland to both parents of mixed Welsh and Irish descent and raised in Cardiff, Wales.

His mother, Caroline De Vries, was born in Swansea, Wales to Nicolaas De Vries, a physician from the Netherlands and his Scandinavian wife, Aurora Olsen.

He has an older sister named Marine Huisman, who was born on 22nd March 1937 in Cardiff. She has a husband, four daughters and several grandchildren.

As for Horatio, he and Station Officer Steele both trained together at the same Fire Academy, after which they both together started work at the Pontypandy Fire Service. Later, he got transferred to Newtown Fire Station, where he climbed up the ladder and eventually became Chief Fire Officer.

Here We Go Again

The new Chief Fire Officer was coming over that afternoon and Station Officer Steele had the firefighters cleaning up the place to make sure the station and the vehicles were presentable.

Norris himself was fussing over his appearance in his office. 

With a tiny pair of silver scissors and a moustache comb, Steele set about to make he himself looked presentable. 

Why he was so worried about how he looked to what was likely to be a much younger fireman (or woman), Steele didn't have a clue. 

They were only there to introduce themselves. 

Like the previous Chief Fire Officers before them, they would be mainly operating out of Newtown. 

Maybe Steele just wanted to remind people that he wasn't quite as old as he looked.

His next birthday, he was turning sixty two.

His once brilliant black hair now a whispy dark silver, but his moustache was thick. 

His body may be more rotund from spending the past five years mainly behind his desk, but he was still full of life. 

Too nervous to eat, Steele had skipped lunch. 

Sam had been kind enough to make the senior officer a nice steaming cup of tea which he sipped at delicately as to not get any stray moustache hairs in the hot beverage. 

An hour later, a fancy looking car pulled up outside the fire station. 

Out stepped a tall, slender man with light blond hair and a moustache. 

“Fredrick?!” Steele gasped, recognising the man almost immediately. 

Fredrick Boyce and Norris Steele hadn't seen each other for at least thirty years. 

The two had been in a secret relationship during their younger years, bonding over their love of helping others and fighting fires. 

Sadly, their fear of what would happen if they were outted had caused the two to separate. 

Steele had moved to Pontypandy where he had spent the last thirty years burrying himself in his work in a feeble attempt to forget about the man that he was still very much in love with. 

Norris had thought about sending Fredrick a letter, telling the blond about his life in Pontypandy.

But with no idea where Boyce was, if he was married, or if he would still remember him after all these years, there was no way of contacting his long lost lover. 

Seeing him after all these years, seeing how handsome he still very much was caused butterflies to tickle Steele's stomach. 

As it was taking Norris a long time to even say “hello”, Sam took it upon himself to formally greet the new Chief Fire Officer, offering him a tour of the station. 

“In a bit,” Fredrick replied, though his attention was solely on Norris. 

“I'd like to catch up with an old friend, if that's alright.”

Sam was surprised that Steele and Boyce knew each other, but figuring it none of his business, simply shrugged and headed inside the fire station. 

“It's good to see you again,” Boyce told a nervous Norris, his eyes kind and his smile tender. 

Steele didn't know whether to be cold or whether to give Boyce another shot. 

Even if they wouldn't be lovers again,  they should at least be friends. 

Especially since Boyce was now Steele's new boss. 

While the town was accepting of those who weren't straight, Norris still checked to make sure the coast was clear before returning Frederick's kind words.

Chapter Summary: Shirtless Pike in his underwear.

Excerpt: The winter storm hit with the fury of a hurricane about 20 minutes after Pike brought in the last load of wood. He estimated the winds were at Category 2-3 strength, they whipped the precipitation into funnel clouds of glass shards. During the hours as he searched for and gathered firewood the steady sleet had changed over to relentless icing. His clothes were now stiff, caked with layers of frost.

Once again in shelter, he immediately checked Tilly’s pulse and found it stronger and steadier. She had grown accustomed to these periodic examinations and didn’t stir. Judging she slept deeply, he started arranging the wood so it would dry.

He couldn’t stop shivering and the exertion only made him feel colder. Wearing wet clothes while they dried was one thing but laboring in an ice-encrusted long-sleeved crew shirt was unwise. If here Enterprise’s chief medical, Phil Boyce, would chide their Captain was caught by his own petard: if a junior officer in this situation chose modesty over practicality needlessly putting his health and his team’s safety at risk, Pike would, in detail, explain the error of the crewman’s decision.

Pike looked over at Tilly to make sure she was still asleep and then sighing, pulled of his shirt, laid it by the fire to dry and went back to work.

Ofc!!! It's one of my now lesser thought of fandoms now, but of course!! I also am making this while on a mental health break.

Chief Fire Officer Boyce

He grew up in Spain but moved to the UK at the age of 12.

He was brought to an orphanage in Wales, which would be raided by the military for illegal works.

There, he met Station Officer Steele.

He was taken in by Norris Steele and his wife, but not changing Horatio's last name, Boyce.

Him and Norris trained at the Newtown Fire Academy, meeting Fireman Sam's mother, Mary, and her husband, William.

Years later, Horatio Boyce climbed the lader of Wales Fire Service.

Sam's father left his family, leaving his wife and kids. Years later, she had passed from an illness. Sam, at the time, a beginner lead Fireman, had become severely depressed and even tried to k*ll himself.

Chief Fire Officer Boyce saw that, remembering what he had gone through himself, he took him and his brother in.

Boyce had broken several rules of the fire service for Sam. Even when Sam hated his original name, Samuel. Boyce changed it so he could be happy and have the "father" Boyce never had.

Sam is probably around 37 give or take.

Penny strikes me as exactly 32. Nothing more, nothing less.

Boyce and Steele are both around the age of 65

Elvis isn’t that old, but he’s got baby face syndrome so he’s older than you think, but even then he’s only around 26 or 27

I headcanon Ellie is 30. I know it’s unrealistic for her to be older than Elvis, but I headcanon she was originally going on an entire different career path, before one day just woke up and realised she wasn’t happy, and then went to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a firefighter.

Arnold is around 24, but he’s only a month or two of from 25, so he just rounds it up.
