went for a long walk, down into steglitz, which i don’t like very much but it has the needful as far as shopping
purchases:
new pillow
secondhand woolen sweater from humana
new pyjamas in cotton ?muslin? substantial, crisp 1x1 weave, has crumply quality but is not seersucker, idk. they were on sale and it seemed like a way to get full coverage for chilly nights without bringing in fleece or flannel—wary of feeling sweaty and trapped in too much fabric, but the way i sleep in warmer spaces isn’t cutting it here. might also pick up a flannel nightshirt if prices come down after xmas; simple cotton flannel be priced like hand-embroidered silk velvet out here
pair of long underwear also on sale
egg slicer, sturdier than the crappy one i managed to kill in only two years of occasional egg salad
extension cord with six outlets and surge protection for workroom. floating the desk, bit of a problem for cabling, maybe a rug over this solves it
white duck tape. there’s tape holding on some of the baseboards here and i don’t rly give a shit about the baseboards but i draw the line at using brown packing tape to hold together white trim. like, come on. white tape over the brown: if it doesn’t catch the eye then it isn’t a problem
with low faith, an adhesive hook rated for 2 kg bc i would prefer not to drill anything or be the reason anything gets drilled (in the bathroom, okay)
still need:
curtains. somewhat urgently tbh. there’s a warmth as well as a light factor for the bedroom which abuts the infrastructurally unsound sun porch and gets morning light through it. putting it off bc i have to measure and that will involve the serious ladder and i doan wanna. need to deal with it tomorrow though

DD also posted about these...
...and mentioned how to make (if you can't get) oat flour:
To start with: If you have trouble sourcing fine-ground oat flour, but do have access to an electric coffee grinder or spice grinder, you can use that to grind down either flaked (oatmeal-style) oats or pinhead (porridge) oats until you have enough flour to make up 230g/2.5 cups. Please note that blenders are no good for this job; neither are food processors. (Also, a note here for the gluten-intolerant: to make sure you're safe from cross-contamination, please make sure you're sourcing your oats, either rolled or as flour, from a processor that does not also handle wheat in its factory.)
*****
For a long while kitchen fine-grinding duty here used a Braun coffee-mill like this one, which has a fixed cup and blade (i.e. it can't come apart for cleaning).
Tumblr media
Despite that cleaning limitation and its small capacity, the Braun has in its time ground coffee, sugar, rice, oats and various spices.
On one occasion the spice was a couple of dried Habanero chillis, which a couple of days later and thanks to inadequate brushing-out of residue, resulted in one of the hottest cups of coffee I've ever tasted.
Lesson learned...
*****
The best thing for milling purposes is an attachment we bought for our Kenwood. It's a "Compact Chopper / Grinder" which includes several lidded jars.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just the business for herbs, spices, nuts and of course turning grain into flour. As the second photo shows, it comes apart for cleaning, and while I'm not saying that was a main selling point, it was Well Up There. ;->
We carried out some experiments the other day before posting this, testing flaked and pinhead oats first in the standard blender which came with the Kenwood, then in the small grinder.
Tumblr media
(Our Magimix / Cuisinart food processor wasn't included; it's a chopper-kneader-slicer-grater, not a grinder, and we already knew from past experience that it wouldn't work with this.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We confirmed at once what D has put in her recipe: an ordinary blender - which includes free-standing ones - won't work either. It's meant for things that are, or become, liquid and flow down onto the blades.
Tumblr media
Neither kind of oats would do this without repeated thumping of the blender jug, and sometimes not even then since (I think) the plastic jug was getting static-sticky. Would a glass jug have worked better? We don't have one, so don't know.
The small grinder, however, was as I said before: just the business.
First with the flaked / rolled oats; about 20-30 seconds was enough.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then with the pinhead oats; these needed a bit longer, 30-40 seconds, to create equally fine flour.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course attachments aren't much use without the Big Machine they attach to, so anyone interested in small-scale flour milling could get an inexpensive coffee-grinder with a removable cup (easy cleaning, yet again).
Tumblr media
I've seen variants with two cups, one for grinding hard things like grains and seeds, the other for chopping softer things like fresh herbs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If one of those had been available Way Back When, we might have got it instead of the little Braun.
That said, TBH I doubt anything "inexpensive" bought nowadays will still be working after 30+ years, as the Braun has done.
And Habanero coffee is still an optional extra... :->
Two kinds: the basic crisp thin oatcake, and a baking-powder raised variant.

😈Corrupt-a-Wish: I wish Arthur Shelby would pay readers rent because they are a little short this month.😈
Requested by @queenoftheworldisdead
Tumblr media
(Side note: the lack of Arthur Shelby gifs is disappointing)
A third knock and Lionel answers his door. His left eye is dark with bruises and his shirt collar is crooked and reveals marks of further injury. It’s unexpected. He’s usually well-dressed and even better kept. A rather ironic appearance as he manages most of the slums on the lower end of Birmingham.
“Madam,” he greets you with an even more unusual tone of deference, “how can I help you this evening?”
“I’ve come to speak about the lease again,” you admit guiltily, “I’ve got nearly enough tips to break even now and I’ll have the last of it tomorrow–”
“No need, madam,” he lifts a hand a winces, “it’s even.”
“What?” you murmur, “what do you mean?”
“I’ve received payment, madam, your lease is settled for the next year,” he says as he presses his hand to front of his undone vest, “I’m very sorry if I’ve been unkind and if I seem short now. Please understand, I must retire, madam.”
“Are you unwell?” you shake your head at your own inane question, “pardon, sir, what I mean is, what happened to you?”
“I… fell,” he says stiffly, “those stairs on the east side of the building, I’ve known they’ve needed repair for some time. It is my own neglect.”
“Oh, how unfortunate,” you utter, “would you like me to make you some tea? Have you eaten?”
“Please, madam, you’re too kind, especially when I’ve not earned it. You have a good night,” he says as he leans heavily on his door and groans.
He slowly closes it and you wonder at the unusual encounter. Lionel Drussard is not one for forgiveness or even humility. He is entirely a different man, and for more than just the bruises. Never once has he wished you a good night or offered any forgiveness on your let. In fact, he was certain to remind you almost every night.
You shrug. Likely, he’d change his mind by the morning and be hounding you for your hard-fought tips tucked into the lining of your jacket.
You carry on down the block to your building on the corner, you see the embers of a cigarette hovering in the shadows beside your door on the second story.
You clutch your bag tighter, ready to fend off whatever vagrant awaits you. You come up, keys in hand, a jab to the ribs tends to send them off running. As you near, the figure stands straight and you see him clearer in the slicer of moonlight peeking past the eaves.
"Mr. Shelby," you greet, your surprise plain as you suppress your unease.
You rarely see him outside the bar he owns, the very one you work at, that you'd just then come from. You didn't think much on his absence that day, he's often up to some business or the other with his brothers, whether in a booth calling for whiskey or otherwise.
"Oi, sorry," he quickly blots out his smoke, "you workin' late, got a bit restless."
"Mhm," you hum softly, "well, they needed help setting up for the night. You know day shift isn't too busy."
"Yeah, don't I?" He says.
You force a smile. You know better than to ask a Shelby what he wants so the mystery of why he's there remains. You shiver and your keys jingle loudly.
"You cold?" He crosses his arms, "bloody chilly, eh?"
You ponder his question and nod. His implication, his invitation is plain. Your livelihood is in his temper. Thus far, you're of the few who've yet to stoke it.
"Tea?" You croak past a gulp, "might take some time, my stove isn't very reliable."
"Sure," he accepts, his tone frighteningly eager.
He's sweet to you sure but your skirts help with that. He's not as sweet to men. You've seen what he does to men, how he leaves them in the gutter.
You turn and unlock your door, fumbling as you focus on the simple task. You finally get past the groaning hinges and he follows you inside. You hang the ring on the wall and feel around on the small table just by the frame.
You light the old oil lamp and an amber glow cast behind the foggy glass, tinged black at the edges from use.
"Lamps are all blown," you explain nervously as you wave out the match.
'No matter," he says as he wipes his soles on the woven mat.
He watches you slip your jacket off and hook it on a peg. He puts his over yours, his knuckles raw and red. There's a trace of alcohol on him but not so heavy as usual.
"Stove still works," you back away and swivel hesitantly on your heel.
You sense him watching you as you weigh the kettle in your hand and set it on the burner. He brings over the match box, surprising you before you can think to fetch them.
"I ain't intruding?" He asks.
You shake your head and take out a match. Your hands want to tremble at his closeness but you steady and light the flame. You pull away as the match wisps to black smoke, nearly singing your fingertips as the stove catches.
"You real gentle, eh?" He says, "quiet and all that."
"I suppose," you answer as you toss the match in the small tin you keep on the counter. He gives you little space to do so.
"You don't say much. Only when you're bringing out drinks, huh? Don't say nothing about money…"
"Mr. Shelby?" It's more a question though you want it to be a warning.
"Nothing, really, we just talked," he leans on the counter, his eyes crease as he smiles, his mustache tickling his cheeks, "least I could do."
"Talked?" You eke out, "sir, I saw Mr. Drussard--"
"And what did he say?" Arthur tilts his head and you flinch as he touches the pale white of your blouse sleeve.
"Do I need to tell you?" You step away with affront, "I… you shouldn't have hurt him. I don't like it."
He frowns and stands straight.
"But… I did it for you, love," he takes a step.
"That makes it so much worse," you try to evade him but find your back to the wall, "please, I think you should leave."
"I've not had my tea," he dares to play with the lacy edge of your pointed collar, "'sides, I was expectin' some sort of thank you."
"Mr. Shelby," you look down at his hand playing with your blouse, the hand you've seen wreak destruction on others much more fearsome than you.
"Call me Arthur, love, or Art," he plants his other hand next to your head, looming over you as the scent of cigarettes and whiskey lace his hot breath, "I wanna hear you say it."
You gape at him and his eyes trace the shape of your lips. You swallow as he plucks a button open. The kettle begins to softly shake and so do you.
"Arthur," you whisper, "please…"

Whisky Glazed Côte de Boeuf with a Dark Chocolate and Whisky Ganache
Benromach Organic is the world’s first fully certified organic single malt Scotch whisky. It’s a Speyside whisky, smooth and mellow bodied with sweet, malty and subtle pepper notes alongside dried banana, freshly ground coffee and dark chocolate, creamy on the palate like butterscotch – bloody lovely! Chocolate and whisky are a perfect combo. After some taste testing (it’s a hard life eh?), I found that Benromach Organic pairs well with a good single origin dark milk chocolate of around 50 to 55% cocoa solids, 60% maximum. I paired the whisky with 55% single origin Peruvian dark milk chocolate to make a creamy, savoury and buttery ganache flavoured with dried porcini, sea salt and black pepper and a touch of chilli powder and nutmeg, garnished with edible 23ct gold leaf and gold salt to serve with a 23oz oak-smoked spice-rubbed grass-fed 30-day dry aged Hereford Côte de boeuf with a whisky glaze, shoestring fries with rosemary, and a salad of frisée, radicchio, parsley and red onion in a balsamic and wholegrain mustard dressing to cut through the flavours. Served quite sparingly, so as not to overpower the flavour of the beef, the intense, dark, savoury ganache melts on top of the steak enhancing and complementing the flavour. Along with the steak rub and whisky glaze this is one steak with bags of flavour! As always, buy the best beef you can, preferably dry-aged grass-fed, ethically and sustainably sourced – I opted for Hereford, but Dexter, Longhorn and Highland would also make an excellent choice for depth of flavour.
Tumblr media
Dark Chocolate and Benromach Organic Scotch Whisky Ganache:
50g good quality single origin 55% dark milk chocolate
50ml whipping cream
50g unsalted butter, diced
1 tbsp Benromach Organic whisky
10g dried porcini, blitzed to a powder
a pinch of mild chilli powder
a pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
1 tsp of Maldon sea salt
freshly ground black pepper
To serve:
a pinch of edible gold leaf flakes, to garnish (optional)
gold salt (optional)
1. Chop up the chocolate and place it in a small heat-proof bowl then add the porcini and chilli powder, nutmeg, sea salt and black pepper.
2. Pour the whipping cream in a small pan and heat until it just reaches boiling point.
3. Pour the cream over the chocolate then stir the chocolate and cream together in one direction and while you’re stirring pour in the whisky a few drops at a time.
4. Keep stirring until the mixture is completely smooth and the chocolate has completely melted.
5. Add the butter until stir again until it’s completely melted and combined.
6. Place the bowl in the fridge for a few minutes so that the ganache starts to thicken.
7. Remove from the fridge and stir again.
8. Once the ganache has begun to set, use a spatula to pour the ganache onto baking parchment then roll the ganache into a log shape. Wrap in clingfilm and place in the fridge to set until ready to use.
Steak Rub:
For four 450g steaks:
1 tbsp smoked paprika
1 tsp soft dark brown sugar
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1 tsp dried oregano
½ tsp Maldon sea salt
½ tsp dried onion granules
½ tsp ground cumin
a pinch of cayenne pepper
Whisky glaze:
For four 450g steaks:
100ml Benromach Organic whisky
2 tsp soft dark brown sugar
20ml extra virgin Yorkshire rapeseed oil
Place all the ingredients in a small pan and bring to the boil, whisking until the sugar has dissolved. Reduce the heat and simmer until the liquid has reduced to a thick syrupy consistency, whisking from time to time.
Salad:
A few handfuls of winter salad leaves
a small bunch flat leaf parsley, leaves picked
1 small red onion, finely sliced
For the wholegrain mustard and balsamic dressing:
30ml good quality balsamic vinegar
30ml good quality extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp wholegrain mustard
a squeeze of lemon juice
a pinch of Maldon sea salt
a pinch of freshly ground black pepper
Simply place all the ingredients in a clean jar, put the lid on and shake vigorously for 30 seconds until the dressing has emulsified.
Shoestring Fries:
Maris Piper potatoes
sunflower oil, for deep frying
a sprig of fresh rosemary, leaves picked
Peel the potatoes then use a mandolin with a julienne slicer, to cut the potatoes into thin strips then place in a bowl of ice-cold water to remove the starch. Rinse thoroughly under cold running water in a colander, then pat dry on kitchen paper as thoroughly as possible.
Heat a deep-fat fryer to a medium/high heat (approx. 170°C) then fry for about 3 to 5 minutes until the shoestring fries are crisp and lightly golden. Add the rosemary leaves to the fryer in the last minute of cooking time. Place the shoestring fries on kitchen paper to absorb excess oil.
Steak:
Remove the steak from the packaging and allow to breath for 10 minutes then drizzle with extra virgin Yorkshire rapeseed oil then sprinkle with about a tablespoon of the steak rub. Let the steak come to room temperature before you cook it. I used a Cameron stovetop smoker and smoked the steak over oak wood chips over a moderate heat. Depending on the size of steak you choose, here are some cooking guidelines:
Côte de boeuf (660g):
Pre-heat oven to 220°C / 200°C fan / gas mark 7.
Lightly smoke the steak for 10 minutes (optional).
Seal the steak in a griddle or frying pan on both sides.
Transfer the steak to an oven tray then place in the preheated oven.
Rare: 10-15 mins. Medium: 15-20 mins. Well done: 25 mins.
Brush with the whisky glaze.
Rump steak (450g, thick cut):
Lightly smoke the steak for 5 minutes (optional).
Heat a griddle pan or frying pan to a high heat.
Rare: 12 mins, turning halfway. Medium: 14 mins, turning halfway. Well done: 17 mins, turning halfway.
Brush with the whisky glaze.
After cooking: Let the meat rest for 5 to 10 minutes before serving. Place about a tablespoon of the ganache, cut into a disc, on top of the steak. Garnish with edible gold leaf and gold salt. Serve with the shoestring fries and salad.

❥ — taylor swift’s fall netflix list // gettin’ deep & personal task.
Taylor’s a sucker for binge-watching a television show and ignoring the fact that she should be replying to emails about work, so what’s a better way to procrastinate than answering a bunch of fall related questions while watching a baking show? (click on the picture for hq!)
what’s your favorite part of fall? Everything. I know, I know… I might’ve said summer was my favorite season, but honestly? I love this time of the year so much. The leaves here are beginning to change colors. Soon they’ll fall to the ground in an array of golden-tones, stripping the trees bare in the process. We’ll all soon follow, wiping ourselves clean of the year’s hard times in anticipation of the better that’s sure to come. Pumpkin flavors can now be requested in coffee shops all over, and in just a couple weeks time, children will line the streets in costumes. There’s something in the breeze that heals. I can’t explain it, but I can feel it. Goosebumps litter my skin and at times I have to question whether I’m cold or whether my body is coming alive for the first time in ten months. Fall has arrived and so has my spirit.
what about your least favorite? Hm, hard call. Maybe the colder weather? I don’t mind it, but I don’t really enjoy the feeling of my limbs feeling numb from the coldness.
what’s a song that always makes you think of Halloween? Thriller by Michael Jackson! If you don’t do the dance when you hear this song, we can’t be friends.
describe your quintessential fall outfit? Fall fashion is some of my favorite and, in my opinion, often the most creative! Usually, I’m always wearing fall colors with jeans, boots, and a sweater. Scarves, hats, and gloves can be found in my wardrobe during this time of year, too.
have you ever played with a ouija board? No, I wouldn’t do that. I’ve seen one too many horror films to know that it never ends well when you mess with those things.
do you feel that fall makes you happy or sad? Happy, most of the time! Although, it does make me feel slightly nostalgic, so that can always bring up unwanted feelings to the surface.
what’s your favorite Halloween-related movie? I always go for more light-hearted movies rather than all out scary movies, so I would have to say Hocus Pocus. But, I like Practical Magic, too.
now that the weather’s getting colder, what’s a go-to comfort meal for fall? Mac and cheese is my comfort food. It’s homey, warm, and so delicious.
do you believe in ghosts & spirits? A little bit. I’m the kind of person to hear a mysterious noise and think “ghosts!” because that’s just who I am. I believe there are things we can’t see that exist, but I don’t really believe in the traditional ideas of what “ghosts” are. Maybe I’ll Buzzfeed Unsolved it one of these days and see if they’re truly real for myself.
favorite fall-related scent? Freshly made pumpkin pie from the oven is such a good smell, but I also love the smell of nature after it rains.
are you a generally superstitious person? I’m not overall superstitious, but I believe that there are things we can’t see or fathom. I believe there’s things we can’t explain, yet or ever. I believe that the number thirteen is my lucky number, and whenever it pops up randomly, I always believe it’s good luck for me.
do you rake up the leaves in your yard, or leave them fall where they may? I just leave them on the ground until I know it’s supposed to snow, and then I rake them up for them to burn. Fallen leaves make for a good bonfire.
if you were home alone and heard footsteps in your house, what would you do? I would probably check my security camera footage, and if I felt really spooked out, I’d call a friend to come over and stay the night!
hot apple cider or pumpkin spice coffee? Oooh, don’t do this to me. I love both, but a mug of hot apple cider is amazing when you’re at the window and reading a book.
pick a team of three people to go with you to a haunted house if you wanted to survive? Let me see… I think I’d choose Bill Skarsgård because he’s taller than me and I trust that he could protect the rest of the team; James McAvoy because he’s hilarious and I’m sure he could calm my nerves and lighten the mood; and Delta Goodrem since she’s my soul sister and I would need her for moral support. Bill, James, and Delta – those three would be my team if I had to go into a haunted house to survive.
do you use the pumpkin seeds once you’ve scooped ‘em from the jack-o-lantern? I usually save them! I roast them in the oven and eat them as a snack.
favorite Halloween costume that you’ve ever worn? Getting the chance to wear Ryan’s Deadpool costume was pretty cool. Didn’t think it would fit at first, but I’m glad it did!
what’s your favorite fall time activity? Going out at night and walking against the brisk air, warm coffee in my hand, feeling free and abandoned with my loved ones; sitting outside in the afternoons with a cozy sweater and writing/drawing; watching the darkening of the days, giving way to even brighter sunsets and sunrises.
graveyards at night: yay or nay? Uh, no. I don’t even like going to them in the daytime, so going to one during the night would not be for me.
do you enjoy baking during the fall season? Of course! Imagine if I didn’t bake almost everyday during the fall season? If you can name it, I can bake it. Cookies, pies, cakes, bread – those will fill my kitchen at all times.
are you more into Halloween parties or trick-or-treating? Since I’m older, I would say Halloween parties. Though, now that I’m living in Bayview, I’m hoping to get a chance to pass out candy to kids. Seeing little ones dressed up in their costumes is so cute.
what role do you play in a horror movie: the final girl, first to die, comic relief, the brain, or the murderer? Honestly? Depends on my mood. Kidding. Well, maybe. I feel like most people would assume that I would be the first to die in a horror movie and they might be right, but I feel like I could be the brain to come up with a plan to save us all. I’d be the comic relief if I’m nervous or feeling stressed during it all, the final girl if my plan goes like it should, and the murderer if I saw someone I disliked.
have you ever changed your appearance with the season? like dyeing your hair or doing different makeup? A lot of people dye their hair darker as the seasons change, but I don’t think I can pull off brown hair, so I just stick to blonde. I usually change my makeup to more darker tones.
after a scary movie… lights on or off? On, always. And I have to watch something more light-hearted afterwards otherwise I can’t go to sleep.
what’s your favorite candy that you look forward to getting around Halloween? Definitely Reese’s Pieces or M&M’s. You’ll never see me with candy corn, though. Whoever likes those are wrong. Very, very wrong. They have no taste, they’re boring, and they’re just not a good Halloween candy. Or even candy in general. Honestly, just don’t even talk to me if you like candy corn. Please. Also, if you have any in your presence, you should do yourself a favor and throw them away.
you’re a witch or warlock… what’s your familiar animal? Would it be too predictable to say a cat? It would be cool if they could talk like Salem, too.
it’s an apple, and it’s coated with what: chocolate, candy or caramel? A chocolate M&M covered apple would be my pick. I never eat it from the stick, so I usually cut it with an apple slicer and then have my way with it.
do you believe in any urban legends like moth man or chupacabras? Can’t say I do, only because I’m not really familiar with either of those. I will say that I believe in Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster.
are you more into the fall aesthetic, or just in it for Halloween? Both? I love fall because of the crispness of the air against the gentle warmth of sunlight, the reemergence of cozy dark clothing and boots, a fresh brew of coffee as the sun rises and the chill starts to nip at your nose and cheeks, the faint scent of cinnamon, shorter days in exchange for softer evenings and brighter sunrises, greenery turning over to bold reds, oranges, and yellows, a tangible feeling that you can do anything… I could go on forever, I just really, really love autumn, my soul feels so at home when it’s this time of year. But, I do love Halloween and I refuse to believe it begins within the plane of manmade time, and is not an atmospheric state that graces us mere mortals every year without fail, bringing with it an odd chilly peace and natural pleasantries and a sort of magic, all of which is willed by the Gods of Spook. Yes, I know, I’m weird.
supernatural time: do you wanna be a vampire, werewolf, or zombie? I’ve been a zombie once, and let me tell you, sitting for six hours in a makeup chair is not fun. But in all seriousness, if I had to choose based off of what I’ve seen in TV shows and such, I think I’d go with being a werewolf. I mean, having to turn on a full moon and have every bone in my body break doesn’t sound like too much fun, but it does sound better than having to live off of blood and never actually dying (unless you get stabbed in the heart with a wooden stake). With how much the world is changing, I don’t think I would to live long enough to see how it all ends.

Bedsheets For Your Bed At Home
As you sleep at night, you always want to be hugged or comforted by cuddly pillows and soft beddings. Sleep is such an important aspect of life as it helps in repairing the damaged tissues that happen in the daytime. Sleep can control your mood and can surely affect your mental capacities. As much as possible, you need to be able to sleep for at least 6 to 8 hours a day. To do it, you have to be comfortable on your bed.
You can only become comfortable on the bed if you have the best bed sheets engulfing you as you lie down in bed. In buying the best sheets, you have to be guided well. There are some factors that you need to instill in your mind in order for you to get only the best sheets for the bed at home.
SIZE
The first thing that you need to look into is the size of the sheets that you will buy. To determine it, you have to measure how big is your mattress at home. There are varied sizes of a mattress like king and queen. Measure your bed and compare this on the available sheets in the market.
QUALITY
It is very important that you will only buy the best quality mattress for your bed so that you will be at ease as you sleep at night. It will also ensure that the bedsheets can last for a long period of time since wear and tear will be delayed by the good materials used for the sheets. To ensure that you get a good quality one, you have to take a look at the thread count of the sheets. The higher the thread count, the better is the quality. As you look for the sheets, it will be good if you can have those that have at least 300 thread count.
MATERIALS
As much as possible, you have to determine what materials are used in making the sheets that you will buy. There are people who are quite sensitive to some cloths so you have to read the label of the sheets. One of the most widely used is cotton sheets. Cotton sheets are of good quality and are commonly hypoallergenic. If you want to buy one, you may look for sheets made of Egyptian cotton to ensure luxury in bed.
SOURCE AND FUNDS
It is very important that you will be able to visit various stores around you to look for the best bed sheets. What you can also do is to look for online sites that also sell sheets. you can be buying the best bed sheets online. One thing that you must never forget is to set the budget that you will spend. This way, you will have control over your expenses.
Kids Bedding Sets For Both Comfort And Style
The contemporary kids bedding sets are a mix of style and comfort. These sets contain all the essential bedding items that would provide your kid with maximum comfort. These are available in a myriad of colors and prints that can suit almost any home decor. You will mostly find them in quality materials that feel good on the skin of your kids.
Going for quality materials will ensure that you get durability along with versatility. Cheaper ones do not last for long and you will have to change then often which will certainly increase your expenses. The modern bedding sets, especially those for your children are not only available in a variety of colors bit with an interesting print like sayings, rhymes, and pictures of different characters.
Other than the cars and funny looking zoo animals, the modern twists in design have taken into account the famous cartoon and fictitious characters. Children just love the idea of flaunting the images of their favorite superheroes all over their rooms. The designs that you choose should suit the age and sex of your child.
For boys, the most suitable options can be cars or their favorite characters whereas if it is a girl then fairies or nice floral prints are all you need. For toddlers, go for bedding sets that are cute and colorful. The material will definitely be in accordance with the collection you choose; it can be summer bedding, winter bedding or something that is lightweight, easy to maintain.
Sets can also vary depending on the components. The items that almost all the sets contain are pillow slips, quilt covers, and fitted sheets. For the main sheet, neutral shades can be used and the dash of color can be applied by using the pillow covers and quilt covers. Take your child along with you while shopping for kids' bedding sets. This will make them interested in the accessories and they will take care of these items like their toys.
Kids Bedding Can Change the Room
Kids' bedding has to be strong and durable, fun and playful, and (this part is important) are affordable. That may seem like a pretty tall order when you're just trying to find something that will keep your children warm on a chilly night. But you have to ask yourself: is that all it really is? Or is it worth taking the time to turn simple blankets and pillows into something more? The simple fact is that some interesting and unique kids bedsheets can change the entire feel of the room and make it a place your children will always enjoy.
You can find kids bedding that can complement any theme, whether it's sports, superheroes, or spritely fairies. If you have children that are fascinated with trucks or ponies or anything else, there's a good chance you can find the bedding that will make them smile. But remember: you don't have to limit yourself to the set that fits with the rest of the room. In fact, if you find a set that your child just loves, the rest of the room will take care of itself and develop around it.
First of all, are you looking for a full set of bedding, or do you only require one or two pieces? You can get themed kids bedding that includes quilts, duvets, sheets, pillows, and even curtains. Will one set be enough, or, if you mix and match, will two sets of bedding allow you to make things really interesting? Of course, not everyone can afford multiple sets of bedding for their children.
The Internet, though, has become a great place to go for some incredible deals on a wide variety of items. With just a couple clicks of the mouse, a person can go from retailer to retailer until they find the best price on the bedding that they want. The next thing to consider is the material that goes into the bedding. Is it cotton or polyester? Which one feels more comfortable for your child?
After all, bedding isn't just about keeping them warm. It's about helping them sleep through the night, and if the material feels scratchy or uncomfortable, they (and probably you) are going to be in for a lot of restless nights. Just remember when you shop for new kids bedding that the most important thing isn't matching the décor of the bedroom but matching the personality of the child. When you can make the room reflect the child's personality, even if it's only a bit, then you can build a room your children will always think of fondly.

tomato miso soup
a headcanon about Sasuke not knowing how to cook that ran away from me. I’m not even sure where I was going with this but I hope you like it. . . There was a misconception about Sasuke that he never thought he would need to correct.
It was one of those things he always viewed as a luxury and never had time for or cared about. When one was always on the road living the life of a vagabond, cooking wasn’t a priority. The taste of food never mattered as long as he got sustenance. As perfect and talented as people believed he once was, there was one skill he had never picked up.
Uchiha Sasuke did not know how to cook.
When he was a genin and went out with Team Seven, he would give in and allow himself to enjoy the spicier foods he loved. He would take out portions of his pay and allowance and enjoy an outing for food.
But he couldn’t live on takeout and instant foods like his teammate Naruto. He would never stoop so low as to build his diet up of cups of ramen and milk. It was better to use his village allowance━and later on his mission pay━to buy his favorite fruit and ready made meals at the closest conbini.
It was the best place to stock up on onigiri, his go to snack or quick meal.
Although he didn’t know how to cook, he did know how to prepare onigiri. Always busy training, he only set time aside to make his own when he was in a particular mood. He found it therapeutic to mold the triangular shaped balls of rice.
Shaping the rice and making his favorite filling of okaka reminded him of his mother. She had been the one to teach him how to prepare rice balls when he was younger and Itachi had left him behind. He would wait until his mother’s back was turned and take rice into his little hands and try to make the biggest ball he could, which earned him a scolding from Mikoto.
The reminder of those scoldings would make him feel hollow when the only sounds coming from his kitchenette was the sound the rice made as he squished it with his fingers and the sound of his own breathing.
When he finally came back home one of the first things he learned to enjoy was cooking. Or at least he enjoyed cooking with Sakura.
Sakura didn’t cook often but she fared better than he did. It was amusing to watch her attempt to make anything because she was completely by the book, strict about following recipes to the tee as if she were following the instructions for one of her antidotes.
“What’s this?” He would ask holding up a foreign looking cooking utensil. He always stocked his kitchenette with the most basic of tools.
“A mandolin slicer. We can use it to julienne some vegetables for stir fry and other things.”
“And what’s that?” Sasuke would point out an odd looking fruit or vegetable,
“I don’t know but let’s find out!” Sakura’s eyes would gleam with excitement and she would toss the produce into their shopping basket.
Every day was a new experience in his tiny kitchen. Sakura would bring over a journal full of recipes her mother had compiled over the years and they would pick a new one to try.
“That’s a good look for you,” Sasuke mumbled one day, warmth creeping up his neck.
“It’s cute, huh?” Sakura winked flirtatiously as she tied her apron strings behind her back. “Ino found it and thought the pattern was so me of course.”
She pulled out everything she needed to make the dashi for their miso soup. It was the first thing they learned to make together and it was a staple at any meal they shared.
“You should blanch the tomatoes,” she suggested with a smile. The corners of Sasuke’s lips twitched upwards in amusement. She was always casually throwing in the cooking vocabulary she learned, happy to know what they meant. “We can toss them into the soup. Wouldn’t that be interesting?”
“You should stay here,” he said just as casually as she used her new words. “We could make miso soup everyday.”
For a moment the only sound was of the water of the two pots boiling until Sakura’s soft voice broke the silence.
“Yeah. We could do that.” She averted her gaze, cheeks blazing a vivid pink.
The kitchen was quiet again as they moved around, preparing their dinner. Sakura took a peek at what Sasuke was doing and she almost dropped the dashi she had made.
“What are you doing with those chillies!?”
“Won’t they be interesting in the soup?” He teased.
“No!”
And as she tried to wrestle the peppers out of his hands and the kitchen was filled with warm pleasant sounds, Sasuke couldn’t help but feel as though this was a luxury he would gladly indulge in as often as possible. A luxury he could make all of the time in world for.
