Today on bad decisions, I started reading a really good ebook and was like “oh I’ll just knit at my grandma’s, I don’t need to bring my iPad with me.” Stupid. Stupid behaviour

#LunarNewYear #YearOfTheRabbit at the The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York:
Vase with rabbits
Ming dynasty (1368-1644), late 16th century
porcelain painted in underglaze cobalt blue (Jingdezhen ware)
H. 23 in. (58.4 cm)
"High-fired porcelain decorated with intense blue pigment under a clear glaze reached an unprecedented height of technical excellence and artistic sophistication during the Ming dynasty, when fine porcelain wares were mass produced and sold to many parts of the world. Their decoration attests to the active cultural exchanges facilitated by maritime trade. The animated rabbits are derived from Chinese sources, whereas the arabesques of scrolling vines and flowers are common motifs in Islamic art."
(Islamic decorative motifs & Arabic/Persian inscriptions also became common under the Zhengde Emperor due to the influence of the many Muslims serving in his court.)
Photographed on display at the Met's Celebrating the Year of the Rabbit exhibition; catalog entry here.

Happy Almost Halloween Y'all!
As you all know, I'm struggling with my health, and the subsequent financial difficulties that come from that as well....
Thank you to those of you that have lent a helping hand!
I am currently the owner of more sets of "fine" china and drinkware then a non-Boomer should have in this economy. With the holidays approaching, if anyone out there has been scouring Goodwill and yard sales in the hopes of scoring a righteous set, maybe you don't have to look much farther?
I've got sets ranging from the restrained, to the extravagant (24kt gold? In *THIS* economy?!?), to retro (The 70s called, and they'd very much like their punch bowl back... the car keys have no where to go.), and so on. I'll include a few pictures, I have at least a dozen or so different full, complete sets. Please message me if you have a question about styles, prices, shipping, etc!

you should've died from those injuries. he's not quite sure how he found this charming little place, or how he's ended up drinking tea from some delicate china with what he assumes are flowers hand - painted on, or how he's eating vanilla cake with a high fae with an unknown court affiliation. he should probably go, he knows azriel will likely be panicking and that cassian will be teasing him, but . . . perhaps if they knew how much he was enjoying his tea, or how much he was enjoying sharing his stories with them and hearing theirs in return.
“ you're right, i should have. ” he says rather nonchalantly, looking up at @eraisa as he sets his teacup down. “ but i was young. i thought i had something to prove. and maybe i did — maybe it kept me alive. ” rhysand shrugs, grinning across the table at them. “ in the end, it barely even left a scar. now, for that, i'm grateful. not everyone wants a reminder of how stupid they were in their thirties! ” he shudders, mostly for effect. “ now, your turn. where were you during the war? ” cauldron, what if they weren't even born yet? he felt old.

The new Freakin' 'tiquen mobile
Freakin’ ‘tiquen Mobile 2023
Introducing the new “Freakin’ ‘tiquen mobile”! It has been quite a year with both of us getting new cars. And we decided to take “Tachi” (short for pistachio) for a spin and head out to Good Stuff in Doylestown, PA. We never have shopped here before. And while we are always on the lookout for something good, we weren’t expecting to find something. But, to be…
