This is my first time writing for Halsin, so I hope y’all like it! I don’t personally romance him, but he does have BIG carer energy XD

The dwindling embers of the campfire illuminate the outline of Halsin’s simple tent, guiding you as you stumble out of yours and cling your plushie close. It was another nightmare, fueled by the fears of what would happen if you lost your protection from the Absolute. The anxiety made you default to a smaller headspace to cope, and you searched for your carer for assistance.

Halsin was tending to the plants that hung from the wooden beams of his tent so the heat from the morning sun wouldn’t dry them out. He greets you with a wave when you arrive. “How’s my little cub doing?” He examined the look on your face, his usually relaxed expression turning concerned. “Oh, dear. Things aren’t going well, I suppose.” You sniffle, as losing your will to speak was common for your regression. A chill blew through the air, causing you to shiver. “Ah, maybe my tent isn’t the best place for you to calm down. It might be too open to the elements for your tastes.” 

Halsin stands up, dusting the dirt off his hands. “Would you like me to carry you, little one?” You nod fervently, making grasping hands towards the druid. “Alright, up you go!” Halsin lifts you with a hup, holding you close to his chest as you curl in his arms. He strolls over to your tent, ducking under the flap and gently setting you down once you’re inside. When he does, you quickly get back into his lap, hugging him close. “There must be something truly wrong for you to seek this much comfort. Not that I’m opposed to it.” 

He pats your head, soothing your hiccups and silent cries. “Was it another nightmare?” You nod, burying your face in the soft, worn leather of his shirt. “It’s alright. I’m here now.”

Driverless vehicles to lift battery swapping

Visitors check out NIO charging piles during an international automobile expo in Changchun, Jilin province, in July. The company aims to build 1,000 battery swapping stations in China in 2023, bringing the total number to 2,300 by this year-end.

A boom in autonomous vehicles is expected to usher in fresh development opportunities for the battery swapping sector in China, throwing open a billion-dollar market in energy storage.

In May, Baidu unveiled its sixth-generation robotaxi services in Wuhan, Hubei province, with the autonomous vehicles operating using a battery swapping system, utilizing standardized battery packs and smart battery swapping stations from a subsidiary of GCL Energy Technology Co Ltd.

Each vehicle autonomously schedules visits to these stations based on service status, location data, and battery levels, completing a rapid battery swap upon arrival to maximize operational efficiency.

The rapid commercialization and deployment of autonomous ride-hailing and taxi services are expected to drive demand for battery swapping, CITIC Securities said in a report.

This method offers advantages such as unmanned operation, high efficiency and lower costs from reduced human workforce, and is particularly suited for fixed routes and scenarios without human intervention.

CITIC Securities has forecast that the number of battery swapping stations will reach 27,500 by 2026, with a compound annual growth rate of 93 percent from 2022 to 2026, and the market size for battery swapping equipment is expected to reach 30.5 billion yuan ($4.2 billion).

Baidu said the decision to use battery swapping for its robotaxis stemmed from its full automation compared to the manual handling required for battery charging services, resulting in savings on labor costs.

Additionally, while recharging via a charging pole takes at least half an hour, swapping a battery only takes three minutes, saving valuable time that can be devoted to better driving services, thereby enhancing operational efficiency.

Lu Jiamin, chief automotive analyst at Cinda Securities, said: "Baidu's latest sixth-generation robotaxi has reduced vehicle costs by 60 percent compared to the fifth generation. Operating and service costs have also fallen by 30 percent and 80 percent, respectively."

Robotaxi operation service platform Ontime has estimated that a robotaxi's cost per kilometer will undercut human-driven ride-hailing services by 2026, signaling a gradual mainstreaming of robotaxi services.

Baidu hopes to achieve financial balance in Wuhan by the end of 2024 and overall profitability by 2025 for its robotaxi services.

Against this backdrop, key players in the driving and battery charging/swapping sectors have stepped up collaboration to tap the surging market.

Baidu has collaborated with GCL Energy Technology's subsidiary for battery packs and swapping stations. Shandong Weida Machinery supplies swapping station equipment and services to NIO. CATL has partnered with automobile makers and ride-hailing services such as JAC Group, Didi and BAIC Motor in the battery swapping field. Automobile companies such as the SAIC Motor and Geely have also made significant strides in this domain.

CITIC Securities anticipates robust growth of the battery swapping sector, driven by proactive efforts throughout the supply chain and promising prospects for battery swapping in taxis and heavy vehicles.

“Reader regresses for the first time after a long period of not regressing at all.” (feat. Mettaton EX)

This plot idea came to me immediately upon seeing the prompt, so I hope y’all enjoy it! I pulled some inspiration from one of @inkala’s works, and the nickname “lovie” comes from when I met Erika Henningsen last August! She was such an angel, oh my GOD! 🥹

You pass through the entryway of your shared penthouse apartment, the doors slamming shut behind you. With a groan, you kick off your shoes and trudge over to the pink, plush couch. You bellyflop onto it, and your mind, which has had your stress amped up to eleven for the past month due to needing to finish your thesis, finally breaks away and puts you in a more vulnerable state.

As you hug one of the many plushies of Mettaton’s box form that lies around the house, the aforementioned robot enters the room. “Well, hello, beau-” Mettaton stops short as he sees you curled up like a cat on the couch, hands clenched around the marketable plush. He slowly walks over to the sofa, gently sitting on it and placing a hand on your back. “Is it one of those small times again, darling?” You nod, your head peeking out for a moment. “I understand. You’ve been so stressed lately and barely had a break.”

“Been hard,” you mumble. “Don’t have much time for care.” The anxiety had taken an effect on your skin and body, with pimples from stress sprouting on your face and your back aching from hours spent bent over your laptop.

“I can tell, lovie. Would you like me to help you feel pretty again?” You nod in response, and Mettaton takes a pillow from the couch and places it on his lap. “Come here, let me braid your hair.” You ease into his touch, allowing his gloved fingers to ease the tension in your scalp and partition your hair. The motions are repetitive and controlled, allowing you to relax more and reduce the worries inside your head. “I understand if you don’t want to talk, darling. Would you like me to share some good news instead?” You reply with a happy hum. “Good!”

Shoutout to age regressors/dreamers who:

- want to play outside but can’t due to fear and embarrassment

- Don’t have a CG and don’t know anyonewho could be

-Feel embarrassed/ashamed whenever someone new enters your room full of toys.

- are unable find that genuine pure childhood bliss from their actual childhood, no matter how much they try.

- Have to learn how to play with toys again, due to adulthood stealing your imagination and joy.

- Impulsively purchase toys you wish you got to play with as a kid

- Feel sad/jealous when you see an indoor playground of wonder and fun that you can never enter.

- Feel to scared to play on outdoor playgrounds when families are around

- Forgot how to get fully engaged in video games like you used to

Growing up stole more from some of us than it did others. You are still valid and I understand the struggle. I only wish there were a stronger community for more non-sexual regressors, where we can support each other and give advice.
