The Dream the Doll Girl Dreamed
In the closed garden, I am the only one who is willing true love. That's the answer: You made me this way
Clinging to the name of God, my brain has corrupted. Running in circles. They thin out the seedlings of love. Holding you in my hands, I make flowers bloom filled with sorrow.
The girl (doll) made by that miserable girl (dollmaker) smiles gently, as if she were alive

why is a high school choir director's very first and only instinct to take classic rock/folk/blues songs and gleeify them. gonna keep it real with u director glenn you are not making choir cooler you are merely making the songs you pick less listenable

The video quality is shit (although it may be better in the video on YT of the whole show that this is from), but I have had different parts of this song stuck in my head at least once a day for the past week or two, so I figure I may as well share the song that won't fucking leave me alone. (It's okay though, because I LOVE this song, but I'm also wondering @ my brain 'WHY THIS ONE IN SPECIFIC?' This is one of my very favorite songs off of The Crossing, but even The Crossing isn't my favorite Big Country album, so...if I could get other songs that I like even more stuck in my head so frequently, that would be better, but I'm still not exactly complaining...) I, however, will complain that Big Country stopped playing this song live after 1984, because Stuart's vocals in this performance are soooooo lovelyyyyyyyyyy!

my way of listening to music is so focused (derogatory) that even in the same genre i'll miss artists and songs that have been around or are super popular, thus allowing extrapolation on how thick the rock i've been living under is
big gender envy wrt to tim henson
perfect blend of technically focused playing w the type of expression and melodic features that targets verm brain creases
besides modern/'ancient' blend of style and arrangement, there's a bit more to how i want to convey any zyx incarnation would approach music if they were given opportunity and time to explore. arrangements and covers are for "can i express the spirit of this original song/idea w a different medium and its characteristics?" and as sentimentality, vs "i covered this song w that instrument/that genre" which i think people sometimes miss the point when they do covers like that
but zyx has to eventually explore original musical ideas; most of their incarnations' life trajectories demand that.
gave the reprise versions of some august burns red songs as vibe examples for lwh's playing
but a lot of polyphia songs hit the same vibe. intricate, not overwhelming but there are clear dynamics in the playing, smooth blend of multiple genres, interesting rhythms, focus on the technical chops without destroying any semblance of melody
tldr as zyx incarnations are exploring musical ideas + cultivation + unconventional techniques, there's less focus on making something palatable or a 'song', covers and arrangements mean less about the music and more about the sentimentality
