И вот долгожданный день наконец-то наступил! А начался он с веселья в ванной)) ох заездит он деда...
Tumblr media

About Larry O’Bryan
Lawrence J. O'Bryan is currently the owner and CEO of TPC-KY, Inc., a label manufacturer in Louisville, KY. TPC-KY is the primary label supplier to GE Appliances in North America and a key partner with Black & Decker, Thornton's and several other regional and national accounts. Lawrence J. O'Bryan also founded Pro-Active Media and was also the most successful political media consultant and strategist in Louisville, KY. In 2010, Larry led the successful Democratic effort to defeat four-term Republican incumbent state senator Elizabeth Tori representing Hardin and Jefferson counties. Larry O'Bryan's campaign strategy blending broadcast TV, cable, direct mail and phones into a seamless, concise and compelling message was praised by political observers as the driving force behind the Democrats' stunning upset. While Lawrence J. O'Bryan was receiving accolades for his work in defeating the first incumbent Republican state senator in 20 years, he was also protecting and winning Democratic-held seats in Jefferson County, including leading the successful reelection efforts for the Jefferson County Sheriff and County Attorney. O'Bryan's list of 2010 victories also includes three judgeships in Jefferson County at both the District and Circuit court levels. In 2012 Larry O'Bryan provided the winning media for Court of Appeals Judge Irv Maze and Circuit Judge Angela Bisig. Larry O'Bryan also produced the hard hitting and aggressive television spots against Chris Theineman, which helped secure Sen. Perry Clark's election against his much better funded opponent. As the first political media consultant to produce and air political ads in hi-definition, Lawrence J. O'Bryan remains on the leading edge of campaign technology. Larry O'Bryan began his career working in the 1980 Kentucky General Assembly during Gov. John Y. Brown's administration and for the Kentucky Democratic Party in 1982. Larry O'Bryan graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1981 with a Double Major in Government and Journalism.

The article provides five examples of predators providing a benefit to humans: mountain lions, falcons, hyenas, vultures and leopards. I’ll excerpt the story about the falcons.
Excerpt:
Wild predators are almost always painted as the villain in myth and popular culture. The Big Bad Wolf terrorized the three little pigs and Little Red Riding Hood. Looney Tunes’ Wile E. Coyote was forever chasing the Road Runner. And even mainstream media portrayals of wolves and grizzlies often borders on the sensational.
But the truth is that predators are key for healthy ecosystems, and even healthy people. A recent paper from Chris O’Bryan and other Australian scientists gathered together all of the existing science on how predators actually directly benefit humans across the globe. Read on to learn how oft-maligned predators can increase agricultural output, reduce disease risk, and even reduce human injury.
Falcons Protect Vineyard Crops from Hungry Songbirds (New Zealand)
Tumblr media
A Karearea, or New Zealand falcon. Photo © Andy Frost / Wikimedia Commons
Nothing compliments a good Marlborough sauvignon blanc like a falcon disemboweling a songbird. But then again, I’m a birder.
New Zealand wineries work hard to protect their precious (and tasty) grapes from hungry wildlife, particularly insects and songbirds. Three species of non-native songbirds, introduced by settlers from Europe, are particularly pesky for the country’s vintners. Meanwhile, native bird species are under great threat from mammalian predators that — you guessed it — were also introduced during colonization.
But there’s a potential solution that could reduce crop-raiding birds, improve grape harvests, and help a threatened species: stocking vineyards with New Zealand falcons. Research from a group of Kiwi scientists shows that the presence of falcons reduced the number of non-native pest birds and decreased the amount of bird-eaten grapes by 95 percent. They calculated that reintroducing falcons could potentially save the vineyard between $234 and $326 USD per hectare, depending on the grape variety. Early research from California suggests that barn owls might play a similar role, where in agricultural landscapes 99.5 of their of prey are agricultural pest species.

Top 30 Most Stunning Photos From The National Geographic Instagram Photography Contest
New Post has been published on https://photographyguideto.com/must-see/top-30-most-stunning-photos-from-the-national-geographic-instagram-photography-contest/
Top 30 Most Stunning Photos From The National Geographic Instagram Photography Contest
National Geographic has made a name for themselves with their earth-shattering photographs, so it was no surprise that they made Instagram history as the first brand to reach 100 million followers (those are almost Kim Kardashian numbers). To celebrate in true Nat Geo fashion, they opened up a photography contest across the photo-sharing platform – using the hashtag #natgeo100contest. In the 24-hour contest window, the magazine received more than 94,000 photograph submissions. The photo editors and photographers at Nat Geo went through the entries and narrowed them down to the top 10 most stunning images and then let their 10 million followers vote on who would be the grand prize winner. Below you can view the contest winning photo, the top finalists along with some other gorgeous entries that didn’t make the cut but are still just as mind-blowing. Voting for #natgeo100contest may be over but don’t forget to upvote your favs for Bored Panda!
#1 André Musgrove
Looking down from above, like a satellite orbiting around the earth, my camera’s view finder presses against my mask, this is one of the most memorable views from My World. Pushing through the strong currents, low visibility and rough waves this day was most definitely worth it.
For the grand prize, winner Ketan Khambhatta, won Nat Geo photo safari to Tanzania. While the other top 10 finalists received National Geographic photo books signed by their photographers along with having their winning images posted to @NatGeo throughout the week.
#2 Grand Prize Winner Ketan Khambhatta
In the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, zebras search for crocodiles while wildebeest run across the river. Photographer Muhammed Muheisen: The image is so dynamic, with a powerful depth that keeps me looking. A moment well captured.
#3 Sebastien Nagy
Always prefer the focus on a single tower but yes… there is another one right next
#4 Anuroop Krishnan
A giraffe family at sunrise
#5 Chaitanya Deshpande
‘Here Comes The Sun’
#6 Finalist Adam Kiefer
National Park Ranger Matthieu Shamavu embraces Matabishi, an orphaned juvenile mountain gorilla, at the Senkwekwe Center, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Senkwekwe is the only rehabilitation center for mountain gorillas in the world. Photographer Ami Vitale: The image is sublime because we immediately understand that it’s a metaphor for unspeakable brutality but also great tenderness. This image illustrates our complex bond with the natural world.
#7 Brent Stirton
I was totally privileged to spend time with the world’s best pangolin care-givers at the Tikki Hywood Trust for an upcoming natgeo magazine story. I witnessed an extraordinary relationship unfold as these men helped rescued, traumatized pangolin to find ants and termites to eat and kept them safe from predators and poachers. Pangolins are the world’s most trafficked animal in the illegal wildlife trade and are extraordinarily endangered. The Tikki Hywood Trust undertakes public awareness campaigns, trains law enforcement and judiciary personnel, conducts research, and rehabilitates pangolins that have been confiscated from the illegal trade. They operate with partners across Africa and advise in Asia. A recently opened extension Tikki Hywood Trust Foundation cameroon is doing great work in the epicenter of the illegal pangolin world. Founder Lisa Hywood is seen as a global expert on how to care for Pangolins in captivity and along with partner Ellen Connelly, they represent an extraordinary example of how to care for animals. The trust also engages with other organizations and governments throughout Africa to highlight the plight of pangolins, raising awareness of their conservation status and educating them as to the need for conserving pangolins, as well as implementing conservation actions. Many of their activities are not covered by research grants and they rely on sponsors and donations to continue their work. It is estimated that over a million pangolin have been lost in the last ten years, this is from a population that we have never counted, we have no idea how many remain, and we know it is not possible to breed these animals in captivity. We are losing these extraordinary animals so quickly to the illegal Asian market that they may disappear before we can truly appreciate them
#8 Yuri Choufour
Sashimi anyone?
Black bears enjoy a varied diet, but these omnivores greatly depend on protein rich salmon to build up reserves as they prepare to hibernate in winter.
#9 Finalist Frank Haluska
Great Egrets appear serene and still in wetlands, but they are also vicious hunters, who eat anything they can catch—including this bullfrog, who appears to be fighting hard for survival. Photographer Cory Richards: This moment is so bizarre and confusing that I had to zoom in to make sure another animal’s foot wasn’t sticking straight out of the water to block the distressed frog from certain death.
#10 Finalist Sandra Cattaneo Adorno
On a day when the sea was unusually rough and the undertow dangerously strong, bathers on Ipanema beach, in Rio de Janeiro, appear hesitant to take the plunge. Photographer Michaela Skovranova: A surreal scene—this image highlights an eclectic mix of light, human impact, and the power of the environment. It’s as if the heat of the Earth and the humans is radiating off the sand, creating their own micro climate.
#11 Maxime Israel Collier
Look at those eyes
#12 Nicholas Parker
Following one of the worst winter storms in Hawaii’s recent history, large swells wiped out the beaches of western Maui. The next day, large pieces of coral were scattered throughout the beach.. I picked through the most colorful and beautiful pieces and found this composition of the island of Moloka’i. The wave action reminds me of fingers from the sea coming to reclaim the coral back
#13 Finalist Matt Potenski
Whale sharks have personalities. This one was bold and curious, approaching the boat anytime we came near. Whale sharks are huge, so large they resemble living reefs. No other terrestrial animal can match their size, power, and grace. Photographer Cristina Mittermeier: I have done a lot of swimming with whale sharks, and you never get to see an absolutely beautiful moment like this that exemplifies the abundance of healthy oceans.
#14 Devon Fox
Can you see the sea horse? This photo was taken in Page, AZ during our last road trip. Strange shapes start to appear in the layers carved into these slot canyons
#15 Sebastian Scheichl
Starting my pictures from the Faroes with a sheep, probably the first thing that comes to your mind when thinking about these islands
#16 Majed Sultan Alza’abi
Drinking time
#17 Nicholas Parker
The weather here lately is snow joke. Another day in single digits with howling wind
#18 Finalist Francisco J. Perez
A summer thunderstorm rolls over the Grand Canyon. This image is a combination of three consecutive long exposure photos of the storm. Photographer Charlie Hamilton James: This is an exceptional image of lightning striking the Grand Canyon. It is muddy, dramatic and demonstrates excellent technical ability.
#19 Jacintha Verdegaal
I still have a lot of Thailand photos to share, but this – spending the day with 4 rescued elephants – was definitely one of the highlights of 2019 so far
#20 Finalist Chris O’bryan
Galahs, a species of cockatoo, scour the parched Outback for water in Western Australia. Here, waterholes are the vital source of life. Photographer Wayne Lawrence: Of all of the images of wildlife, this one seems less clichéd and stood out because of the masterly use of color and composition.
#21 Juan Quinteros
One from the “sharks in the sandstorm” series
#22 Finalist Khatia Nikabadze
A pair of lambs stare out a car window at a livestock market in Marneuli, Georgia. Photographer David Guttenfelder: This photograph wasn’t made in the wild, yet the picture, in one moment, tells the seemingly bittersweet story of the young lambs.
#23 Finalist Sara Stein
This image depicts the frantic momentum of wildebeest crossing the Mara River in Tanzania. Photographer Tasneem Alsultan: I enjoy photos that aren’t that obvious. Is it wasps of hair? Or shards of wood? The mass of horns rushing my way seem lethal, and yet the photographer made us see the image from an artistic view.
#24 Andri Laukas
Always looking for new perspectives at these famous places
#25 Ulla Lohmann
Another one of my all time favorite images: Munganau walks home. The erupting Tavurvur volcano has destroyed beautiful Rabaul town. The people showed amazing resilience against the odds of nature and stayed with the hope, that their paradise will one day return. Fingers crossed that the volcano stays quiet! .
#26 Shivam
Madness is somewhere between chaos and having a dream.
#27 Caine Delacy
This is probably my most favorite shot
#28 Ken Geiger
it’s time for breakfast! Backlit by the early morning sun a southern yellow-billed hornbill snags a grasshopper for a snack.
#29 Arvind Patwal
“NAGA “. Believes that the twinkle in her eye may be the reflection off her lost marbles.
#30 Finalist Felice Simon
Families glide on an ice rink in Brooklyn, New York’s Prospect Park on an unseasonably warm January day. Photographer Maggie Steber: This photograph of skaters large and small somehow reminds me of a memory from childhood. The way the pristine light shoots across the ice creating long shadows feels symbolic of how we have to stay the challenging course of raising our children, always being there to catch them if they fall.

Green Superfood Powder: Worth It? (+ How to Find a Good One)
New Post has been published on http://healingawerness.com/news/green-superfood-powder-worth-it-how-to-find-a-good-one/
Green Superfood Powder: Worth It? (+ How to Find a Good One)
You can’t out-supplement a poor diet (or poor sleep or high stress either). But even with a perfect diet and great sleep, it is still possible to experience nutrient deficiencies because modern foods can be deficient in certain essential nutrients. To ensure we get enough, I make homemade herbal teas (packed with micronutrients) and rotate various green superfood powders.
What Is a Green Superfood Powder?
In short, a green superfood powder contain many servings of vegetables and superfoods in a scoop of water-soluble powder. In addition to veggies and superfoods, the powder may also contain other health-supporting ingredients like probiotics and immune-supporting herbs.
Why Greens Supplement?
An ancestral and whole-foods diet may be a significant step up from the Standard American Diet that has a lot of grains, vegetable oil, and processed ingredients. However, there are many reasons even the seemingly healthy diet alone might still not provide enough micronutrients and antioxidants.
Depleted Soil with Less Minerals and Good Bacteria
Over the last 100 years, industrial farming has depleted the most nutritious topsoil from important minerals and beneficial soil bacteria that would grow the healthiest foods. As a result, the vegetables in our food supplies also have less mineral density. The reduction of minerals in our foods, as well as the fertilizers and pesticides, may be a contributor to diseases of civilization.
Reduced Food Diversity and Wild Varieties
On Chris Kresser’s podcast, Dr. Thomas Cowan, MD said that healthy hunter-gatherer humans ate a much wider variety of vegetables than we do today — up to 20 species per day and 100 species throughout the year! The supermarket vegetables we normally eat have been bred to have more uniform shapes and sizes, with higher sugar content and less bitterness, which also means less micronutrients and phytonutrients than the wild vegetables.
Think about it — is your family consuming 20 different types of vegetables (or herbs) per day? Our family usually hits that mark, but only through using herbal and adaptogenic teas and green powders.
Reduced Nutrient Density in Vegetables
Grocery store veggies may have been harvested weeks before and traveled thousands of miles to reach your table. This means that they don’t have the nutrient density of a freshly harvested vegetable at the peak of its growth.
Modern Lifestyle Depletes Vitamins and Minerals
The modern lifestyle, with chronic stressors and pollutions all around us, increases our needs for micronutrients. We need more B vitamins and magnesium to deal with stress. We also need more B vitamins, selenium, and antioxidants to remove the chemicals that we are exposed to.
In the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the world leading nutrition researcher Dr. Bruce Ames wrote that low micronutrient status can lead to metabolic disruption, mitochondrial decay, cellular aging, and increased DNA mutation. These can lead to fatigue, hormone imbalances, poor immune function, weight gain, and increased risks of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
Therefore, supplementation with a multivitamin and mineral is a recommended as a cost-effective way to prevent nutrient deficiencies.
Greens Powder vs. Vitamins
As a general rule, it is better to get micronutrients from whole foods than from synthetic or isolated vitamins unless there is an underlying issue or if working with a doctor.
First, nutrients that are present together in whole food sources often work in synergy. Vitamin C and bioflavonoids in fruits or vitamins A and D in egg yolks, cod liver oil, and butter work together for better absorption. Second, micronutrients in whole foods are generally more bioavailable than the synthetic forms. Third, there are still important nutrients and phytochemicals in plants that we have yet to discover.
Because a greens supplement provides vitamins from nutrient-dense whole food sources, it is a great way to ensure that you get sufficient amounts of micronutrients and antioxidants. The soil may be depleted from minerals, but the sea is not. Therefore, you want to get a greens supplement that includes some marine sources of nutrients.
Most vitamins, especially B vitamins, are stimulants. Many people find B vitamins so stimulating that it causes heart palpitations and anxiety. Whereas, vitamins from whole food sources, with the natural nutrient forms and synergies, are less likely to cause this problem. You may have eaten foods high in B vitamins like vegetables or liver without the heart palpitations. Since it’s also a whole food, greens powder can help with fatigue and hormone balance without the excess stimulation.
Harmful Ingredients in Some Green Powders
There are a LOT of greens powders out there, but not all are created equal. In general, there are some important things to watch out for when choosing a powder.
Hidden Sweeteners, Gums, and Artificial Colors
Vegetables, especially the more nutrient-dense ones, are good for you. Unfortunately, it’s hard to make vegetables taste good, especially when you try to condense as many as 12 servings of vegetable into a single scoop.
In order to make the green powders taste palatable, many manufacturers use potentially harmful ingredients, such as:
artificial sweeteners
sugar
emulsifiers or thickeners to maintain texture for mouthfeel
artificial colors
non-organic or GMO ingredients
Watch out for these and avoid powders (or anything) that contains them.
Harsh Processing
Creating a greens superfood powder is technologically difficult because many vitamins and phytochemicals are very sensitive to heat, light, and certain forms of chemical processing. The vegetables in the greens powder have to be gently freeze-dried into water-soluble powders in order to preserve the nutrients. Whereas, in order to make use of single-celled algae, the manufacturer may need to harshly crack the cell walls of these algae to make nutrients inside the cells available.
Therefore, you want to make sure that you purchase the greens powder from a reputable company that understands the biology of the superfoods they include in their products and confirm the presence of intact nutrients in the final products. (See the ones I’ve tested and like below.)
Types of Greens & Their Benefits
Not all greens are created equal either! The best greens powder for you will depend on what you are looking for in your greens. Many are a good source of micronutrients, but there is a lot of difference in the type and what they do in the body. These all get lumped in as a “green superfood powder” though they have some key differences:
Marine Sources
Marine (water based) sources of greens include spirulina and chlorella. (And phytoplankton, though that is a different type and is not powdered). These types of green powders are very nutrient dense and often used supplementally for their benefits.
Spirulina, for instance, contains amino acids, calcium, potassium, b-vitamins, and iron. Chlorella is a great source of protein, magnesium, B-vitamins and zinc.
Marine powders are available on their own, but they don’t taste great. I prefer them in combination powders like this Aquatic Greens Blend or in Energy Bits (small caplets of chlorella and spirulina that can be taken as a snack or to boost nutrients).
Moringa Leaf
Moringa has an excellent nutrient profile and it is often added to greens powders for this reason. It can be consumed alone or in tea form, but I prefer to mix it into green drinks.
Grasses (Alfalfa, Wheat, Barley)
The traditional “green powders” are what most people think when they think of greens. Alfalfa, wheatgrass, and barley grass contain dietary fiber, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, pantothenic acid, iron, zinc, copper, manganese and selenium. Alfalfa is rich in vitamin K, zinc, copper, magnesium and vitamin C.
Worried about gluten? I asked world-renowned expert on gluten sensitivity, Dr. Tom O’Bryan, if wheatgrass contains gluten and is a concern. He explained that in the first 11 days of growth, it does not and is considered safe. He even consumes wheatgrass if he can verify it is less than 11 days old. (At 11 days, the plant starts to get the traditional proteins found in wheat and is problematic.)
Most green powders do not list the age of the wheatgrass, so those with celiac disease or gluten intolerance should probably err on the side of caution and avoid. This without severe issues who avoid refined grains will likely do fine with wheat grass powders.
I’ve tried and liked this three grass blend.
Fermented Greens (Like Kale)
These greens are newer to the market in powdered form and I’m enjoying them. Of course, people have been fermenting vegetables for ages, but the powdered form provides a unique benefit of being shelf stable, easy to travel with, and more nutrient dense than traditional greens. Just like fermented vegetables like sauerkraut, these have a higher nutrient availability and increased probiotics. I’ve been using fermented kale and while it has a strong taste, I really like it.
Green Superfood Powder Blends
These are my favorite because they pack the nutritional punch of some or all of the above greens. They also contain a wider variety of micronutrients so they provide a bigger nutritional punch in a single serving. Blends include powders like Organic Greens Superfood Blend and Organic Traditions Superfood Greens with Turmeric in the list below.
Green Superfood Powder Facts and Myths
It’s easy to get excited and want to start drinking all the green powders, but first, we must understand some of the facts and myths surrounding superfood green powders.
They Can Replace Multivitamins (Myth)
Greens are very nutrient dense but they don’t contain a complete array of vitamins and minerals. Supplementing with only greens or eating too high of a concentration can actually lead to imbalances of other nutrients. Since most of us aren’t getting enough greens to begin with, they’re a good thing to add, but they don’t replace a healthy diet or a well-rounded multi.
It Can Make the Body More Alkaline (Fact and Myth)
The theory goes that our body wants to be more alkaline but foods like meat and dairy are acidic and make us acidic. Therefore, proponents of this theory suggest eating foods that are alkaline in nature, especially veggies and greens to alkalize the body.
I don’t buy into this theory and Chris Kresser has an in-depth post that explains the scientific flaws in this theory if you’re interested. The basic explanation is this — foods can change urine pH, and vegetables and greens do make the urine more alkaline. They don’t seem to change the blood pH and the body naturally maintains a blood pH of around 7.4 unless there is a serious medical issue.
Bottom line: vegetables and greens are beneficial for many reasons and we should all be consuming them, but not to alkalize our blood.
Good Source of Micronutrients (Fact)
Greens are a great source of a variety of nutrients and micronutrients. Since many of us aren’t getting enough of these, greens powders can be a good way to get small amounts of a variety of nutrients in a single serving.
High in Antioxidants and ORAC Score (Fact-ish)
Greens do naturally contain a lot of antioxidants and have a high ORAC score. But the ORAC score should not be part of our purchasing decision. The USDA recently removed ORAC score as a metric in its database after recent research found that it isn’t as relevant as once thought and was mostly used in shady marketing.

Top 10 Signs You Need a Detox
New Post has been published on http://myersdetox.com/top-10-signs-you-need-a-detox/
Top 10 Signs You Need a Detox
“Detox” may have become a trendy buzzword, but it’s an absolutely necessary step you must add to your health regimen. If you ignore detox, you’re missing the boat and your health will suffer. Learn the top 10 signs you need a detox and how to do it.
With excessive toxin exposure and stress, our natural detox pathways can become compromised. In this article, I tell you how to clean up your liver and your body.
If you have a lack of energy, brain fog or are suffering from a chronic disease or condition, I guarantee you that toxin accumulation is contributing to the problem.
I learned about detox when I was planning my pregnancy many years ago. Reading the baby books, I was shocked by all the chemicals you had to remove from the baby’s environment and realized I was completely surrounded by chemicals in the air, food and water. This education as a scary wake up call and I realized the dire importance of removing toxins from your environment and from your body.
Anyone that thinks that detox is not important or bogus — ahem, the mainstream medical community — are not serving their patients or their own bodies. It is foolish to think that you can escape the 80,000 chemicals that we have in our environment unscathed. You must be thinking about detox on a daily basis. Allow me to explain how.
10 Signs You Need a Detox
If you have 4 or more of these signs, you may have a congested liver that needs a vacation. How many of these signs you’ve seen in your body over the past 3 months?
Headaches
Increased belly or visceral fat, weight loss resistance, edema/water retention
Cravings and/or blood sugar issues
Overheating/excess sweating
Acne, rosacea, itchy skin
Fatigue unrelieved by sleep
Moodiness or anger
Nausea
Chemical sensitivity — smelling fragrances or chemicals makes you sick
Insomnia — especially waking between 2–4 a.m. That’s an angry, toxic liver.

Toxins are everywhere. They are in our food, water, air and even our household goods…and they are destroying your health. Everyone has some level of metals in their body. The connections between metals and disease is now undisputed, but it’s still being ignored by the conventional medical community.
Fortunately, with the info you will find in The Heavy Metals Summit, you can protect and heal yourself and your loved ones from these toxic metals!
Why Detox?
The body has a natural ability to detoxify toxins, such as heavy metals, but in today’s toxic world, this natural ability is severely compromised. Overexposure to toxins and high stress levels result in weakened digestive/detox function allowing toxins to find their way into the fat cells and brain tissue. (4)
No matter how hard you try to minimize your exposure to chemicals and toxins, they keep showing up in our bodies in increased levels simply because they are everywhere in our environment.
The need for detoxification is based upon the principle that immunodeficiency, inflammatory and degenerative diseases from allergies to arthritis to Alzheimer’s result from the toxic, accumulative effects of poisonous substances and pathogens within the body.
According to reports by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the average person now has 212 environmental chemicals in their blood — things like mercury, lead, cadmium and industrial chemicals.
The World Health Organization has studies that show we have over 700 chemicals on average in our bodies. No matter which study you choose, the prognosis is grim.
Mercury has found its way into organic produce from the coal mine plumes that cover most of America. And then there are all the countries in the world that do not regulate corporate dumping effectively — the rest of the world then suffers their industrial waste spewed into the atmosphere.
Environmental toxins such as pesticides, preservatives, heavy metals and industrial toxins are mostly fat soluble or “lipophilic” (lipo = fat, philic = like). Such lipophilic toxins have been associated with hormone disruption, immune system suppression, reproductive disorders, cancer and other diseases. (4,5,6)
Heavy metal and chemical toxicity, combined with nutrient depletion and stress = disease. Believe me, you need to nourish, detox and cleanse to enjoy good health.
Give your liver a break!
Here are a few recommendations to unburden your poor liver. It is essential to have a strong digestive system and well-functioning detox pathways — these can be achieved with intelligent cleansing techniques that are backed by science.
1. Consume Antioxidants
Here’s why we need antioxidants. For every molecule of toxin metabolized in phase I (such as from cigarette smoke or pesticides), you generate one free radical molecule. Free radicals damage DNA and accelerate wear and tear in the body, similar to rust on a car. Taking vitamin C and E, Alpha lipoic acid, flavonoids, carotenoids, and glutathione helps neutralize the free radicals you’re making each day in phase I.
Want to get antioxidants from your food? Foods rich in flavonoids: berries, parsley, onions, green and black tea, citrus, and dark chocolate. Carotenoids? Get them from carrots, pumpkin, squash, plantains, spinach, and sweet potato. Also try green juice and wheatgrass juice.
Studies suggest that turmeric protects the body from heavy metals like mercury, as well as help the body detoxify them. Turmeric also supports optimal digestive function, healthy intestinal flora, stable moods and comfortable movement of the joints.
In one study, turmeric was found to have a protective effect from the free radical damage from mercury. Turmeric was shown to boost the body’s detoxifiers, glutathione and super oxide dismutase (SOD) levels, which protect the liver from mercury. Turmeric also boosted enzymes like catalase in the liver, kidneys and brain, supporting detox. In the study, mercury concentrations were reduced as a result of turmeric supplementation before and after mercury exposure. (3)
2. Get in an Infrared Sauna
Infrared saunas are THE most effective way of detoxing metals and chemicals from your fat. I prefer near infrared saunas over far infrared, but both are great for detoxification.
These saunas have many health benefits, including cancer treatment and prevention, detoxification, killing infections like parasites, yeast, and mold, etc.
In one study, they concluded that:
“Saunas can be used very effectively for certain cardiovascular problems and as a means to enhance the mobilization of fat-soluble xenobiotics. When saunas are used to reduce blood pressure and enhance blood flow and cardiac functioning, only short sauna (15 minutes) are necessary. When one wants to enhance the mobilization of heavy metals and chemical xenobiotics, longer sessions are needed. But, for either use, saunas are safe and effective and should be used more frequently to benefit the health of our patients and ourselves.” (1)
3. Simple Daily Detox
I have found that zeolite is one of the easiest and best ways to detox if you cannot afford the time or expense of a rigorous detox program. Zeolite removes toxic heavy metals, chemicals, VOC’s, radioactive toxins and free radicals without removing vital nutrients. You just spray it in your mouth and let the detox begin!
The Clinoptilolite Zeolite molecule is shaped like a honeycomb, full of cavities and channels. Because zeolite carries a natural negative (-) charge, all of the positively charged (+) toxins bond with the zeolite. The zeolite particles, with the toxic materials attached are then flushed from your body with your urine within 4–6 hours.
4. Eat Your Veggies
Broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts contain sulphur, which help you reduce estrogen dominance and support both phase I and phase II detoxification. You also need their fiber to remove heavy metals from your colon!
5. Reduce Alcohol
Alcohol affects and harms both phase I and phase II detox pathways. Women who drink 3 to 6 servings of alcohol per week have a 15 percent greater risk of breast cancer compared to nondrinkers, according to the Nurses’ Health Study. This is because your liver metabolizes excess estrogen. And if you can’t get rid of that excess estrogen, you’re going to have weight gain and potentially even cancer. I recently found out I have a gene that interferes in my ability to metabolize excess estrogen. Luckily, I stopped drinking alcohol on a regular basis 6 years ago! Even low levels of alcohol confer risk. Alcohol should not be in your detox plan!
What is the Next Step?
Given the daily toxic exposures that we all encounter daily, ongoing and focused detoxification is imperative.
Start by limiting your exposure to toxins by:
Drinking Clean Water.
Clean up your environment and home from chemicals and toxins. Use chemicals free cleaners in your home.
Detox your beauty products and stop using products with harmful chemicals.
Eat organic.
Most importantly I think that people need a lifelong detoxification plan. This is why I created The Heavy Metals Summit.
I brought together 38 of the world’s top experts on health to teach you about the latest detoxification techniques, supplements, do’s and don’ts – straight from the experts in the field.

Colorado Warms to Pot Clubs, Despite Federal Uncertainty
BY KRISTEN WYATT ASSOCIATED PRESS
ENVER (AP) — At risk of raising the ire of the White House, Colorado is on the brink of becoming the first state with licensed pot clubs. But the details of how these clubs will operate are as hazy as the underground clubs operating already.
Denver officials are working on regulations to open a one-year pilot of bring-your-own marijuana clubs, while state lawmakers are expected to consider measures to allow either marijuana “tasting rooms” run by marijuana dispensaries, or smoke-friendly clubs akin to cigar bars.
Alaska regulators, spooked by how the Trump administration might view marijuana, recently decided not to move forward with rules for use of marijuana at authorized stores, though the issue there isn’t dead.
California and Maine voters expressly signed off on public marijuana consumption, but haven’t settled on rules. That means Colorado may be first out of the gate with statewide pot-club regulations, possibly by this summer.
Colorado officials from both parties have come around to the idea of Amsterdam-style pot clubs for a simple reason: Everyone is tired of seeing pot smokers on public sidewalks.
“It’s a problem we’ve got to address,” said state Sen. Chris Holbert, a suburban Denver Republican who opposed marijuana legalization but doesn’t like seeing its use on the sidewalk, either.
Pointing jokingly to his suit and tie, the gray-haired Holbert said he’s even had panhandlers ask him for marijuana near the state Capitol.
“I mean, look at me. If I’m getting hassled, everyone’s getting hassled,” Holbert told reporters.
Democrats here agree that tourists need an out-of-sight place to use marijuana.
“No voter in Colorado voted to allow the use of marijuana on their sidewalk, in their parks, in their public view,” said state Rep. Dan Pabon, D-Denver. “But that’s essentially what we’ve done by not allowing private club space for marijuana uses.”
So both parties seem to agree that Colorado needs to allow for places that let patrons smoke weed. But that’s where agreement breaks down.
A Republican-sponsored measure to allow marijuana clubs to be regulated like cigar bars was put on hold for a re-write. That’s because sponsors are trying to address concerns that pot clubs shouldn’t allow medical marijuana use, along with other legal wrinkles.
“Telling people to socially use their medicine? That’s like we’re legalizing pill parties,” said Rachel O’Bryan, who opposes marijuana clubs and ran an unsuccessful campaign to defeat a Denver social-use measure last fall.
There’s also intense disagreement over whether establishing pot clubs would invite a federal crackdown.
Some say the clubs would be too much for federal authorities to ignore; others insist the Justice Department would view clubs as a way to keep pot away from children, a priority according to previous Justice Department directions.
“Jeff Sessions is the big question mark right now,” Democratic state Rep. Jonathan Singer said, referring to the newly minted, anti-marijuana U.S. attorney general. “I think we need to send a message to him that Colorado’s doing it right.”
Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, a Democrat who opposed pot legalization but is undecided on signing a bill to allow clubs, said he’s not sure how the administration would respond to clubs.
“I don’t know whether we’d be inviting federal intervention, but certainly that’s one argument I’ve heard used persuasively,” Hickenlooper said Thursday.
The governor did indicate he’d veto a bill that allowed indoor smoking, not just smoking on enclosed private patios. The Denver clubs would have to abide by clean-air laws banning burned marijuana inside; the statewide proposal would allow indoor smoking with “proper ventilation.”
“We spent a long time letting everyone know that smoking is bad for you,” Hickenlooper said. “Just cause that smoke makes you happy, and dumb, doesn’t mean it’s good for you.”
The marijuana industry seems frustrated by Colorado’s halting attempts to figure out how to allow pot clubs. Because current marijuana law is vague, Colorado currently has a patchwork of underground clubs, many of them raided when they try to file permits or pay taxes.
“The situation right now is a disaster,” said Chris Jetter, a licensed marijuana grower who owned a west Denver pot club that was raided twice. Jetter said authorities took more than six pounds of marijuana, along with tens of thousands in cash, then charged him with illegally distributing pot.
(Jetter eventually pleaded guilty to public consumption of marijuana, and was fined $100. He disputes he was doing anything illegal and says he pleaded guilty to end the matter. He has since closed his club.)
“Two or more people can get together and consume alcohol almost anywhere, and there’s no problem with that,” Jetter said. “But we’re not treating marijuana like alcohol. What’s going to happen with the feds? If they start kicking in doors, I don’t know. But we need to figure something out.”
You can keep up with all of HIGH TIMES’ marijuana news right here.

Democrats in Colorado agree that tourists need an out-of-sight place to use marijuana.
“No voter in Colorado voted to allow the use of marijuana on their sidewalk, in their parks, in their public view,” said state Rep. Dan Pabon, D-Denver. “But that’s essentially what we’ve done by not allowing private club space for marijuana uses.”
Both parties seem to agree that Colorado needs to allow for places that let patrons smoke weed.
In written responses to questions from the Senate Judiciary Committee during his confirmation hearing, Sessions said that he would “review and evaluate” the Cole Memorandum, which stipulates that the federal government will not interfere in states’ decision to legalize and regulate the sale of marijuana to adults.
In addition, he said that he would commit to enforcing federal laws regarding marijuana, like his predecessor, Loretta Lynch,  “…although the exact balance of enforcement priorities is an ever-changing determination based on the circumstances and the resources available at the time,” Sessions added.
The Trump Administration hasn’t yet come up with a clear policy on the issue. The president has wavered between supporting medical marijuana, to calling the rollout of Colorado’s regulated industry a “real problem.”
Hickenlooper, however, told a Senate Governance and Finance committee oversight hearing on Tuesday that legalizing marijuana was “one of the hardest things,” he’s ever done in public life, but also one of the things he’s “most proud of,” reports The Cannabist.
Others in the Colorado marijuana business are more bullish on the industry, despite the uncertainty at the federal level.
Neil Demers, the CEO of Diego Pellicer, a network of retail dispensaries, said that he’s “so confident” in the future of the marijuana industry that his company plans to open a flagship outlet in Denver next week.
“I believe the Trump Administration and attorney general Sessions understands that shutting down or consolidating the industry will end up sending jobs back to Mexico’s cartels, and I don’t believe that Mr. Sessions, nor President Trump, wants that to happen,” Demers said.
Marijuana advocates have also reflected Demer’s views.
“Picking a fight with the growing number of states that are enacting popularly supported marijuana laws would be a huge distraction that the White House just does not need right now,” Tom Angell, of the pro-legalization group Marijuana Majority, told Business Insider.
