A/N: these days I’m really busy at uni, so I can’t write a lot😭 I see requests, so I’ll try to start them as soon as school gets easier!

“No! Don’t touch them!”

You woke up in fear, screaming and crying. After the battle with Quaritch and all horrible things you’ve seen, nightmares have been following you. That day you almost lost your mate and your son was in danger, left in your marui with an old woman, while all of you were in the battlefield.

“Shh, it’s fine. We’re fine, y/n. We’re here, safe.” Neteyam already knows what to do when he sees you crying in the middle of the night. “Kamun is here, see?” We pointed at your son, peacefully sleeping in his cradle.

“I’m sorry…” you sighed, covering your face with hands and rubbing it. You know, that your nightmares bother not only you, but also Neteyam. He has to sleep well to be a strong warrior. “They tortured you and Kamun. Again. I can’t stop these nightmares.” Tears were streaming down your face. And your body started shaking in cry.

“That’s okay, ma vitra. I will always be with you and protect my family. One day you will sleep without nightmares, but now I’ll be the one who protects your sleep. I’m always with you and our son.” Neteyam hugged you softly, leaving a kiss on your forehead, while lullabying you. You hid your face in the crook of his neck, inhaling the smell of home.

Neteyam kept whispering calming words to you and you didn’t really payed attention to what he said. You focused on his soothing voice, that always could make you feel better.

“I love you, ma vitra. I’ll always be with you.”

You left a tender kiss on his lips. Being in his arms, feeling his heartbeat and breath, makes you feel protected. His arms are the safest place for you on Pandora.

He is your healer

He is your source of energy

He is your home

He is you

Damned by bad distribution, but beloved by critics, the album sold poorly, but is widely acknowledged as a classic. “O My Soul”, “September Gurls” and “Back of a Car” are all contained on this LP. CD longbox for the Chris Bell retrospective, I Am the Cosmos, released by U.S. label Rykodisc in 1992.

As previously documented on this blog, I have been a longtime fan of the music of Alex Chilton and Big Star. So I was greatly anticipating the Big Star reissue campaign of 1992 from Rykodisc, which included Third / Sister Lovers, a live radio performance from 1974, and this disc of “lost” recordings from the late Chris Bell.

Up until then, I’d only heard two Chris Bell songs: “I Am the Cosmos” and “You and Your Sister,” both sides of his lone solo single released in 1978 by Car Records. I bought it at the late, great Hideout Records (aka Subterranean Records) in 1990 or 1991, somewhat reluctantly shelling out $20 for the privilege. (I just looked up the current asking price for that 7″ on Discogs and... whew!)

This opportunity to hear ten entirely new Chris Bell songs felt like a real gift. I went out and bought the CD the week it was released. And two years later, I would end up mentioning Rykodisc’s Big Star reissue campaign in the cover letter with my internship application to the label. Did it help get me the internship? Who knows. Regardless, it was a sincere expression of how much this music meant—and still means—to me.

CHRIS BELL I Am The Cosmos. Extremely rare 1978 US wide centre 7" vinyl single on the Car Records label, also including You And Your Sister. This is the one and only single from the Big Star guitarist, and widely regarded as one of the greatest power-pop singles of all time, with Chris on vocals & guitar, Alex Chilton on backing vocals with arrangement by Bill Cunningham and mixed by John Fry; complete with the rare original blue tinted picture sleeve. This example remains in an outstanding condition, the sleeve displays just a little light wear and minimal signs of age, and the vinyl very clean with very little evidence of play. An amazing example and only the second copy we have ever seen. NUMBER ONE RECORD, no. 2. Big Star, #1 Record. Some of you know this, some maybe not. It’s—chiming, guitar-y, trying-to-make-you-happy-but-maybe-tinged-with-melancholy rock. It’s so, well, moving, this record. Especially the first side. Oh, wait, no, I don’t want to play favorites. There are vibes that come off this record (both sides) that are weirdly energizing and activating especially if you want to be in a band, yet it’s got that melancholy (which might be because we know Big Star is another band that avoided appreciation in its own time). It’s such a great record. You like it.
