Slavegirl costume is pretty much done! If you have seen my story in the past few days you will know that the zipper on this costume broke just as I was finishing it. But not even that can kill my joy at seeing this complete costume on the dressform for the first time. I made my first attempt at it almost ten years ago and now I can finally say I am completely happy with it. There are a few details I still need to finish, sewing snaps to hold the belt and skirt in place, adding elastic shoulder straps, and obviously replacing the zipper. I just noticed that your askbox link is called "are there still beautiful things?" and indeed there are, because you are one!! 🤍🤍🤍

my usual header that alana made matches it when it's up, but of course i always have to have my holiday themed ones at the right times of the year 🥰⛄

that line means a lot to me because it really captures the nostalgic bittersweetness and reminiscence of trying to find the innocent and gentle beauty that still lasts in the world, that felt right at our fingertips in childhood, flying with us on the swing, but can be harder to find with our feet on the ground as we grow up. all those little things we lose, and yet at the same time, we still find the magic there when we need it too. the dreaming fades and changes, but the love keeps living on.
