one of my favorite doctor who things is when companions see the Really Really bad side of the doctor (ten in the runaway bride, twelve in hell bent) and i just think that yaz and dan deserve to see thirteen in a similar terrible light

I've never met ANYONE who actually likes the Chibnall era. Would you seriously say that it's objectively good?
Brace yourself for unpopular (albeit positive) opinions.
Objectively? I don't know, I tend to feel like media is very much subjective and down to opinion. But on the whole...yeah. I'm gonna say yeah. I think the Chibnall era thus far is every bit as good as the Moffat Era and Davies Era were. It actually blows my mind to see the fandom come together and almost universally agree that the show has gone downhill. It's part of the reason why I kind of stepped away from the Doctor Who fandom because there's something very demoralizing about re-watching clips from Season 12 and seeing literally every comment just talk about how the show is ruined. And if I re-watch old clips, very often I come across comments that talk about how the show "used to" be good, and should have ended with Twelve, etc. I know a little reluctance toward the new Doctor can be part of the transition process, but normally the fans are over it by now.
Things haven't really changed.
I've been re-watching Twelve's era, and found a new appreciation for him. But I re-watched Thirteen's era right beforehand, and you know what? It holds up. Season 11 is remarkably strong. I can't think of a single "bad" episode in that season. It focuses on the characters, and thus it doesn't have nearly as strong ambitions, compared to one of the Moffat seasons, which were clever but often convoluted. They couldn't always stick the landing. (Looking at you, Season 6) But every has it's good parts and it's bad. The same man who wrote The Wedding of River Song and betrayed the entire season's storyline in the process...also wrote The Doctor Falls, which is probably my favorite final episode of any season ever. The Chibnall Era is the same way. The Tsuranga Conundrum isn't really a bad episode, it's just kind of forgettable, apart from the Pting. But then it is immediately followed up by Demons of the Punjab, which is an exceptional story in every way. I want the Thijurians to return for Thirteen's regeneration, I'm saying it.
My point being that even if there are episodes you can't stand in the new era, is that really exclusive to Chibnall? All the way back in Season 1, they had The Long Game, which I remember disliking, but it was sandwiched between Dalek and Father's Day, which are in my opinion, the two best episodes of that season. A lot of people don't like Orphan 55, for example. But it's followed up by Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror. Does anyone really dislike that episode? You're valid if you do, but I think it's really good. Ask me about any episode in the Chibnall Era, and I'll find something to like about it. (Except maybe Arachnids in the UK...and that one's not even bad, just kind of weak.) Because like I said, there is good and bad in every season...and I do think that the fandom has overblown how "bad" the Chibnall Era is...though that may be in part because I think this era is generally good? Incredible companions, solid episodes, a great Doctor, and hey...this era actually made the Daleks scary again. That is impressive. Even most of the hated episodes, like Orphan 55 as I mentioned...I enjoy them.
I stand by that. I think this era is great. If anything, I don't like that they reduced how many episodes we get, because some of these stories, like The Witchfinders and It Takes You Away especially Fugitive of The Judoon, are just begging to be two-parters. Spyfall is the only real two-parter we've had, in my opinion (Ascension of the Cybermen and The Timeless Children feel like two separate stories to me) and the episode was much stronger for having the extra time. If I have one genuine criticism with the Chibnall Era as a whole, it is the stark contrast between Seasons 11 and 12. I love Season 11, I thought it was beautiful. I like it far more than most people. I also truly enjoyed Season 12. But they are worlds apart, with Season 11 feeling so standalone and Season 12 picking up with a big storyline that really hadn't been hinted at all in the previous outing. The tone is also different, with The Doctor and "the fam" having a distance between them that seems to have developed offscreen in between seasons. It was as though Chibnall wanted to give everyone a breather from big overarching plots after the Moffat Era, but then after one season he decided "break's over" because he wanted to tell his story. And that's okay! It is. But it's jarring. Anyway, let's talk about Chibnall's storyline. You know where this is going.
"That" episode.
I meant what I said before. There isn't a single episode that I actively hate as much as say, Listen. Now let's get very controversial, because I know what y'all are thinking. "Not even The Timeless Children?" And I'll just get this out of the way right now: I don't think The Timeless Children, or it's twist, ruins Doctor Who. I don't think it gets anywhere close. I mentioned before that I was demoralized reading the comments on a clip of Doctor Who...to no one's surprise, it was this episode. Now, I may just be biased...after all, I didn't even hate Hell Bent. But while I have my criticisms of Season 12, The Doctor's revised backstory accounts for exactly none of them. You want to know what really bothers me? That we had a seven season buildup to Gallifrey's rescue, a nine season buildup to it's return...only for the show to do nothing with it, and then just destroy it again a couple of seasons later. As someone who loved The Day of The Doctor, I'm mad about that. Among other reasons, destroying Gallifrey is the kind of card you can really only play once.
So no, I don't think The Timeless Children is perfect. The Doctor had a seven season character arc culminating in them learning the lesson that using The Moment would be wrong, and that it was never okay to do something like that. To hear her even consider using The Death Particle, that "Or, a solution" line in response to Ryan appropriately reacting in horror? Yeah, that upset me. I don't like that Gallifrey is gone again, and even if The Doctor wasn't the one to do it, she almost did, and she left someone else to do it in her stead. That bothers me more than The Timeless Child ever could. That being said...the Timeless Child doesn't bother me. Seriously, it blows my mind that people act like this twist ruins Doctor Who. It...really doesn't, guys.
It does not insult the legacy of William Hartnell. He is still The First Doctor. It's not like there isn't a precedent for secret incarnations from The Doctor's past. We didn't start calling Christopher Eccleston The Tenth Doctor after we found out about John Hurt. Nothing can change The First Doctor's status or take it away, nor do I think Chibnall is trying. He is doing what I've actually wanted Doctor Who to do for a while. Give us a story about The Doctor's childhood. (Listen doesn't count, I don't care, that was all kinds of bad.) Let me ask you, what does this really change? I've seen people complain about the revision of The Doctor's history...but there's a precedent for that too. We could play bingo with how many times Clara fundamentally altered or influenced the show's history. She is the reason he started traveling, the reason he chose his Tardis, and the reason he saved Gallifrey. Why doesn't that bother people, if this does?
I also understand it if people dislike this change because they feel as though it makes The Doctor a kind of chosen one, compared to them having just been an average person who wanted to make a difference. I get that. However, this is down to interpretation, and there are so many ways to interpret The Doctor. Some people love it when The Doctor goes dark, other people cannot stand it and view it as out of character. Some people love it when The Doctor is heroic and badass, when they save the day...others would prefer that they take the backseat, teaching the humans how to save the day themselves. "The man who makes people better." And which interpretation you get, where it falls on the spectrum...it will vary from writer to writer. Moffat loved to make everything about The Doctor, and Davies frequently compared him to an angel or a god. This is not the first time that the show has portrayed The Doctor as a godlike being. It's not even close to the first time. And honestly? I don't think this makes The Doctor special or supernatural. I think it makes them a victim, nothing more. A victim of child abuse.
People also disliked this episode for removing the mystery behind The Doctor...but I fail to see how it did that? There are so. Many. Questions. That this finale opens up. Where did The Doctor come from? How and why did they get to our universe? What exactly is The Division? What went down between them and The Doctor? Where is Tecteun? (No, she's not Rassilon...) As the Masters asks, "What did they do to you, Doctor? How many lives have you had?" Amid all of the comments that made me sad, I did see a great one about how the original creator of Doctor Who actually didn't like it when they introduced the Timelords, because she felt that it boxed the show in and removed the mystery behind The Doctor, and how "She would have loved this episode." I agree with that. (Still salty that they destroyed Gallifrey though...) You know, I am genuinely interested in this story and where it's going to go, especially with the sixtieth anniversary approaching. But it depresses me that they might scale it back now, after how much the fandom has risen up against it. Not that I'm saying the fans shouldn't be happy, but...it's clear that a story is trying to be told here, and I think it should have that chance.
To each their own, of course. But I will never understand why this era is so hated.

Deal
My brain was buzzing with too much angst that I couldn’t sleep so I had to write this out quick. It’s the equivalent of me screaming into a pillow except the pillow is my ship.
Yes, I stole the whole ‘bring them back via time travel’ bit from Twelve x Clara.
TW: Angst, grief, major character ‘death’, Michael takes words way too literal, sad one-sided Hellstrop, cute but problematic Cheleanor.
"You sure you wanna do this?" Gen asks, very little reluctance in her tone, detached as she is from real emotions.
Even other immortals are specks of dust to her. Maybe having an impartial sociopath in charge of the Universe isn't the best idea. Oh well. It's the best they've got.
Michael nods, resolute; "I'm sure. Just...explain to me how it will work again."
*
It's been almost a month since she left her house. He just wants her to get some air.
"If I agree to go to lunch, will you find a way to bring him back?" Eleanor sniffs, wearing one of Chidi's shirts.
He sighs for the billionth time.
"You know I can't..." he tries to stroke her hair.
She slaps his hand away.
"Then what is the forking point of you?!"
"Eleanor-"
"Big Boss of Heaven and you can't bring back one person?! The one guy I need to be happy here?!"
He takes a step back. He knows she's just lashing out because she's in pain. He can't imagine the pain she's going through. He only suspects it will be what he'll endure when it's her time to walk through.
All he wants to do is help her until then. He wants to see her smile.
This was everything he feared would happen when Chidi left. He isn't enough.
"It's not a place, really. It's just time. Time with the ones you love." Eleanor wipes her nose on his sleeve; "So if the ones I love are gone then this isn't really the Good Place, is it? It's just...Place. Not even Bad or Medium, just...nothing."
It's getting harder to ignore how deep her words cut.
"Is there anything I can do?" He almost begs, voice barely above a whisper.
He would try to hug her again if he didn't expect another slap.
Eleanor turns back towards the sunset at her window.
"Aside from giving me my boyfriend back? Yeah..."
He waits, ready for whatever it is.
"You can leave me the fork alone."
*
Gen rolls her eyes at having to explain it again. She summons a virtual graph with a line to show him.
"I pluck Chidi out of a previous timeline before he had his 'feeling' and bring him here. He's still content to stay around, him and Blondie can get back to getting it on and I get some peace and quiet." She tells him, "But I can't say how long it will be till he has that feeling again. It might hit him the same amount of time or maybe years later."
Michael waves that detail off; "He'll see how much she needs him and he'll stay. He shouldn't have left in the first place. Fork, I regret inventing the damn thing. What matters is Eleanor is happy."
"Oh I ain't doing this for Blondie, I wouldn't do it for anyone but that sweet bootie she's with. The Universe shouldn’t be without him."
And because she owes Michael a favor for saving humanity. That's why she's breaking the rules.
And Michael is breaking a thousand ethical ones.
It's all worth it if it means she'll smile again.
*
She hasn't showered in a long time. She should probably get on that.
Michael will nag her about it the next time he barges in. Maybe she should consider getting a lock. Who does he think he is? She's totally handling this.
Handling losing the man who made her feel complete.
How else is she supposed to handle it other than staying on their balcony, in his shirt, stuffing her face with shrimp while clutching her copy of Scanlon's stupid book?
Maybe she'll go for a walk after her shower. Maybe she'll-
"Hey, babe. You okay?"
Fork. Oh, fork.
Now she's seeing things. Things such as her boyfriend exiting the shower, that buff chest of his on full display above his towel covered waist.
Eleanor freezes. This. This can't be...
"Babe? You're starting to freak me out..." Chidi frowns, looking down as her fingers gently prod his chest; "...You didn't suddenly go blind, right?"
Her eyes water as she feels up his skin, his neck, to touch his cheeks.
"You're here?! You're real?!"
"I...Is this an existential thing? Have you been reading Descartes because, trust me, that's not the best idea before bed-."
Eleanor pulls him in for the most desperate kiss of her life, savoring the taste of his mouth, the feel of his lips on hers, in case it's the last time. Again. Fork, it feels real.
She pulls back a little, looking deep into his eyes.
"Are you gonna leave me again?" She has to know before she lets herself fall too deep for this.
Chidi looks confused as There; "Of course not...I keep expecting you to be the first one ready to leave me. I love you, Eleanor, you know I wanna be with you for as long as we can."
That's all she needs to hear. She's not sure how but...the son of a bench did it. This is her Chidi. It's not a suit or a simulation. If it is then she's grief-stricken enough to fall for it.
Just a bit more time. That's all she wanted. She wraps her arms tight around his neck.
"I love you too, babe. I just had the most forked up dream."
That's all he needs to know. It may as well be that for all she cares.
*
"One last time. You're prepared to pay the price?"
Michael looks at the familiar pin in his palm.
Everything you've ever wanted.
"You need a great surge of energy in order to manipulate time streams in parallel dimensions." He repeats her earlier words; "What better use of fuel than a demon's essence?"
"You sure you wouldn't rather toss me one of your old enemies from the Bad Place?"
He shakes his head.
If they're going to do this...This completely unethical and unnatural scheme...It has to be him. Anything for her. She asked for two things he could do to make her happy. Now she gets both.
"I see now why you marbelised Janet." Gen remarks; "No way she'd have let you go through with it. It won't be as painful as retirement but...It's just as final, pal. So long as that past Chidi is here, I’ll need your goo to be simmering away in that vortex...even after he goes through the Door. Time isn’t to be messed with easy, even for me."
He knows. But if the alternative is Eleanor alone, depressed and hating him then what does he have to lose? The afterlife council is pointless now. Tahani and Vicky are doing more than he could attempt to contribute anymore. His friends are gone...or no longer need him...or want him.
This is the closest he will come to finding his Door.
"You'll restore Janet once it's done? And explain why I had to?"
Gen sighs; "She won't be happy about it. Usually I'd feel confident handling a Janet but...She's something else."
He gives a small, proud smile.
"Yeah. She is."
He looks at the pin again, focusing on what good this will bring back rather than the horrifying thought of what awaits him.
It's worth it for her. Always for her.
"I'm ready."
He wishes he got to see her smile one last time.
*
She's still kissing a damp and topless Chidi when there's a familiar bing sound.
"Janet! Hey." She beams, not as stunned or off put as her blushing soul mate.
"Y'know what, I'm gonna get dressed. So glad we allow our friends free access to our house."
Eleanor gives that ash a pat as he goes off. She turns to Janet, grinning from ear to ear.
"Can you believe it?! It's really him, isn't it?" Eleanor grabs her wrists, seeing Janet's face bowed; "Who knows what Michael did but I need to see him now! I’ve been pretty crabby to him lately, ‘cause it’s been so hard coping with all this, but he’s made it all right now."
Her not robot friend is silent.
Damn. The little voice is back in the corner of her mind. Hello, old frenemy.
"Okay, I know Chidi said he wanted to go and I agreed to let him go but neither of us knew it would hurt me so much. And this Chidi doesn't wanna go yet so it's all good, right? Whatever Michael did..."
She spots the tear run down Janet's cheek.
Eleanor's senses slowly make a comeback as the high of her wonderful shock evaporates, leaving her with realistic dread.
"...What did Michael do?"
Janet sighs, followed by the smallest sob. She presses something into Eleanor’s palm.
She feels the circular piece of metal. Her heart sinks before she even looks down at the engraved thumb pointing downward.
"He gave you everything you wanted..."

The Doctor’s & Clara’s romance
I’ve made a little compilation of all the notable Whouffle and Whouffaldi moments over the seasons, along with my thoughts and theories:
Tumblr media
Their relationship was set up as romance right from the very beginning with these words, because it becomes obvious right away that Clara might be romantically interested in the Doctor by hinting at future snogging. I don’t believe that she immediately jumped him, but she let him know from the beginning that she wasn’t uninterested.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let’s jump to “The Crimson Horror” where Eleven and Clara pose as husband and wife and they both convinced Mrs Gilliflower, a woman who is anything but stupid. In fact, they both seem to enjoy it, too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I always like to believe that the end of “Nightmare in Silver” is the moment Eleven realizes that he fancies Clara because he notices her on a physical level. Besides, the conversation Mr Clever had with Clara in which “the Doctor” confesses his love to Clara is probably based on the Doctor’s own thoughts to which Mr Clever had access at that moment, but Clara saw through it and knew that the Doctor would never admit it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Clara suggests that she needs a boyfriend for Christmas dinner Eleven was excited. He actually believed that she was serious for a moment and he was more than happy to be her boyfriend, yet at the same time he was a bit worried that he might disappoint Clara. It was Eleven who was disappointed when he realized that Clara wasn’t actually serious.
Unfortunately they never really got to explore that part of their relationship because he got stranded on Trenzalore and later regenerated.
Matt Smith has confirmed that Clara was sort of his girlfriend while Jenna said in an interview or during a panel that Clara realized she was in love with him during the regeneration.
The rest is under a cut because it’s long:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After his regeneration the Doctor picks up where they left of, with the boyfriend argument. He assumes Clara never actually wanted him to be her boyfriend and admits that it was his mistake for assuming so for a brief moment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I never actually paid a lot of attention to this dialogue before watching the German dub for the first time and afterwards I realized that it could be read in various ways. In the German dub “Am I home?” was translated to “Do you want me to live here?” and the Doctor reply is “If that is what you want” and I now realize that the English original can be read as exactly that. The Doctor was more than happy to let Clara live with him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Doctor is heartbroken when he realizes that Clara doesn’t understand that he and Eleven are the same person and that his feelings for her haven’t changed and he begs her to give him a chance, which she does.
Tumblr media
We all know that Clara started dating Danny in S8 because for her a romance with the Doctor was off the table now that he had made it clear he wasn’t her boyfriend, yet the Doctor is anything but fine with the competition. One of my favourite scenes and clear indication that the Doctor was jealous and actively trying to sabotage Clara’s relationship was the moment he hid in her bedroom during her date. He didn’t want her to be with anyone else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nevertheless, he is curious and wants to know just how serious Clara is about the other man and when he realizes that she is in fact serious, he can’t just let it happen.
Tumblr media
He is jealous, but he can’t openly show it, so he decides to just do better than the competition.
Tumblr media
The brief moment during “The Caretaker” when Twelve assumes she is dating Adrian breaks my heart every time I watch it. He thinks that Clara has chosen the young, dorky looking man with a bowtie who reminds him so much of his former self and he feels reassured that Clara is only using Adrian as substitute because Eleven is gone and that she still loves him. In his head the Doctor thinks that if she still loves Eleven, she can love the current him as well.
Tumblr media
The Doctor is devastated when he realizes that Clara isn’t dating Adrian, but Danny, a soldier who couldn’t be more unlike the Doctor.
Tumblr media
Again he is competitive and starts showing off while Danny is in the room, trying to prove that he is better for Clara, that he can take her to places Danny couldn’t even imagine, trying to show him that Clara is his by proving she wouldn’t hesitate to run away with him even in the middle of her date with Danny.
Tumblr media
MOTOE is meant as their break-up, their “last hurrah”, because Clara thinks she has chosen Danny and can no longer travel with the Doctor because he has changed. However, she is shocked to learn that their goodbye might be a bit more final than she had in mind and tries to cling to him despite her decision of not wanting to continue wit their travels. She is nervous and frightened. She doesn’t actually want to stop seeing him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think the “last hurrah” ist more like a “first hurrah” to them because I genuinely believe that they slept together on the Orient Express, probably for the very first time. That is based on a theory by @anotheruserwithnoname (if you would be so kind to reblog this with a link to your theory added, I couldn’t find it on your blog). The entire corridor scene is sizzling with sexual tension, as several articles have pointed out. Also the fact that both the Doctor and Clara were utterly nervous suggests that they knew what they were about to do (for the first time).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Clara specifically uses the word “dump” and unlike Danny she knows that the Doctor is sort of like a boyfriend or at least has the potential to be because S8 is basically a love triangle story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After their adventure on the Orient Express Clara understands the Doctor a little better and she knows that she can’t leave him, so she decides to lie to Danny, her boyfriend, about running away with another man. If the Doctor had been just a friend Clara could have told him, she could have told Danny that she had decided to keep travelling with him and their previous phone call tells me that Danny would have understood and Clara knows this. Yet she still decided to keep the Doctor a secret - because he is more than a friend.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is one of the strongest lines the Doctor has ever said to Clara and Steven Moffat himself confirms that it was meant as an “I love you”, but in this case “I love you” wasn’t enough. The Doctor’s feelings for her are so strong that they cannot be expressed simply by those three words.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a very interesting bit of dialogue because it raises the question why the Doctor is angry. Because he is travelling to the afterlife to get Clara’s boyfriend back, the boyfriend of the woman he loves. He doesn’t actually want to do it, but he has to because he loves her so much and he would tear the world apart to make her happy, even if it means that she is going to be with another man.
Towards the end of the episode Clara says something to Danny that makes him realize he never stood a chance against the Doctor. She tells him “He is the closest person to me in this whole world. He’s the man I will always forgive, always trust, the one man I would never, ever lie to.” It hits Danny that he can never compete with that, that even though Clara may have loved him, she will never love Danny as much as she loves the Doctor.
Tumblr media
Yet Clara does lie to the Doctor at the end of “Death in Heaven”, just like the Doctor lies to Clara because they want the best for the other (and because they’re idiots). It is only later that they realize just how miserable the other has been and decide to elope together at the end of “Last Christmas”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Playing “Pretty Woman” is an undeniably romantic gesture, one even Missy recognizes because she gives Clara a look. After telling her all about how Time Lords are above love and romance the Doctor goes and proves her wrong and you can read from Missy’s face that she thinks “oh what an idiot”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When the Doctor tells Clara that she needs another relationship, what he actually tells her is that she needs a relationship with a human, someone mortal, someone to keep her grounded. He wasn’t okay sharing Clara with Danny, but I think Clara’s relationship with Jane Austen is proof enough that he isn’t generally against sharing her with a person who would be good for her. He repeats that later in TGWD. However, Clara reassures him that he is enough for her both times.
Funnily enough the bit of dialogue in between where he tells her that humans are always writing songs about relationships or go to war is exactly what the Doctor will do for Clara at a later point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m still in shock over the fact that this line was actually on the show. Obviously, they never say “I love you” to each other. Clara doesn’t because she promised Danny that she wouldn’t say it to someone else. The Doctor doesn’t because his feelings for her are a lot deeper than a simple “I love you”. Yet here is the confirmation that they loved each other. Clara assumes it and the Doctor proves it by coming back for her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the scene where Clara understands for the first time just how their relationship is going to end, I believe. He said it to her before during that episode, he said that one day the memory of her will hurt so much that he won’t be able to breathe, but I don’t think Clara understood it at that point because they were still in the middle of trying to save Ashildr. Here she realizes that she is the person the Doctor truly can’t bear to lose.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, they never said those three words to each other for reasons I’ve already mentions and right before her death Clara is afraid that he is going to say them at last because it would rob her of her courage to go through with it. She knows that he loves her, but if she hears those words she knows she will want to stay. For his and for her own sake.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The parallel with the old couple was wonderful and subtle, but that is exactly what the Doctor and Clara are at this point. They are in a romantic relationship, if not married. And there is a wonderful theory out there that I’ve seen her here, but I don’t remember who posted it that said the sudden shift in their S9 relationship makes much more sense if you assume they got married after “Last Christmas”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In his quiet moments during his 4.5 billion years in the confession dial that is what the Doctor does. He imagines that Clara is by his side. Steven Moffat also said in an interview that the Doctor painted the portrait of Clara from memory.
Tumblr media
Again I’d like to point out that the Doctor spent 4.5 billion years trapped in his own person torture chamber and there are moments he thinks about giving up, he thinks about confessing everything, but he doesn’t because that is his last chance of saving Clara. It’s a small chance, but he clings to it because he is determined to get her back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even Clara is surprised when she learns just how far he would go for her, what he would go through just to have a tiny chance of saving her and she is shocked that he would do that.
Tumblr media
Finally, in the cloisters, Clara decides to come clean and I believe she told him a lot of things during the scene we never saw, including that she loves him, even though she might not have used those exact words.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ashildr is older than the Doctor in this scene and she has seen everything there is to see. She knows the Doctor and Clara are more than just friends, she tells him her theory that together they are the hybrid. That is how strong their love is - it can destroy the universe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the end they both realize that they have to part ways because if they don’t do it now, they will never have the courage to, but even this last scene shows how bonded they truly are. “Let’s do it like we’ve done everything else. Together.” And by everything I believe they truly mean everything.

-"What are you, 36?”  “Eight.”
- --AHEM anyway yeah, that little holiday, and--
-HE’S FLOATING??!?! WHO THIS? WHAT?
- -- UGHHH anyway, yeah. I grew up with that and then there’s this Western Christmas culture where it’s such a big thing and it’s, just, really, strange.  Initially that little rant was gonna be a bit longer and better articulated, but interesting things kept happening in the show.
-”YOU’RE A SUPERHEROOOOOOO”
-IS THAT NARDOLE
-Okay what is happening and what is wrong with these people
-BRAINS WTF
-Why do science fiction lights always turn on so loudly
-”Donated to the facility by our benefactors”  “DONATED”  yeah.  Looks like he murdered those benefactors after all.
-What’s the Doctor even eating
Tumblr media
10/10 face
-What’s with the guy coughing blue milk
-WHAT
-For some reason I am inclined to pet this brain creature (pf which, by the way, I failed to upload a screenshot because everything else would be uploaded except that image, even with the quality lowered), but because there are many hideous monsters in Doctor Who that are not to be judged by their appearance, I’ll keep a neutral opinion on this guy until further progress in the plot is made to prove either its hostility or its friendliness.
-Yep, I’m not petting you, brain dude. You’re not friendly. You get no pet.
-”I had a change of mind”  WAS THE JOKE REALLY NECESSARY
-And were those surgeons just standing there doing nothing 24/7 until someone came in
-WELL THIS IS TERRIFYING ALRIGHT
-Who’s the writer again... *takes a look* Yep, Steven Moffat.
-”No one will believe that, this is America.”
-”Special Agent Dam Dangerous Schgsfilurfylas”  My English hearing’s not the best, okay
-Dude’s hand is shaking, that yells terrible aim
-”o on, tell them you shot us in the back for self-defense.”
-Heyoooo, it’s the boy with the glasses, except he’s not wearing glasses anymore and I’m NOT talking about Harry Potter.
-God damn I wish someone would turn down that guy’s accent, it’s like he has a swollen tongue and is trying to decide whether to spit out or chew a hot piece of bacon
-Where did Nardole even come from
-Heyooo
-WHY DID THAT KID GROW UP TO SOUND LIKE EVERY PARODY OF BATMAN’S VOICE EVER
-Flashback?
-So is he gonna sh-t out the gemstone or
-nevermind what I just said
-HE GREW UP WITH A THESAURUS AS WELL APPARENTLY
Tumblr media
Pffft
-what’s with the wind noises
Tumblr media
The Doctor with a baby is the best thing ever, it doesn’t even matter which reincarnation he’s in
-BUT WHAT’S WITH THE WIND NOISES
-Nardole with that elephant lol
-Wait... Isn’t that the reporter girl?
-WHAT IS WITH THE FRICKING WIND
-ACTUALLY I JUST REALIZED THAT THIS WIND SOUND SPANS ACROSS THE ENTIRETY OF THE EPISODE, IT’S NOT THE EPISODE ITSELF IT’S THE GUY WHO UPLOADED IT
-OR SOMETHING
-GOD I WAS FREAKING OUT ABOUT THIS STUPID THING
-IT HURTS MY EARS
-I’M WEARING HEADPHONES AND THIS WIND NOISE IS TORTURE
-X-ray vision would actually be great because everyone would be spooky scary skeles
Tumblr media
A HA HA HA HA HA
-Did the Doctor just drink alcohol from that bottle
-Yep, he’s getting wasted
-*unholy squealawking* ”This is Mr Huffle. Mr Huffle feels pain. Meet me in the kitchen.”  what the fuck was that
-I DON’T LIKE THIS WOMAN NOR THAT LITTLE RUBBER DOLL
-I DON’T LIKE YOU AT ALL
-I HOPE YOUR LITTLE MR HUFFLE DRAGS YOU DOWN INTO HIS SPECIAL HELL WITH YOU
-You can just see how those soulless eyes of his are begging for the sweet release of death
Tumblr media
Wake me up (wake me up inside) Can’t wake up (wake me up inside) save me
-He is screaming, free me, free me, free me from this pain
-look here lady you are clearly very clever and all but you better close your bedroom doors securely at night and make sure that lil guy is outside or you might never wake up one day
-Change of subject: I thought this guy would be the one called Dr Mysterio but instead it turns out he’s called the Ghost. Not this Ghost either.
Tumblr media
(Image from Star Wars Rebels)
-The deathly stare of Mr Huffle is refusing to leave my mind, help, what do I do, I have been cursed
Tumblr media Tumblr media
RUN DOCTOR RUN, HE BLAMES YOU AS WELL AS HER
Tumblr media
DOCTOR: THE HORROR GAME Do not let him look into your eyes!
-IT’S THOSE OPEN BRAIN MEN FROM HUSBANDS OF RIVER SONG, THEY’RE BACK AT IT WTF
-”Good to keep an open mind, ha!”
Tumblr media
“I am totally against bantering.”-
-Ah, back when his floof was still flat, calm and level one.
-Woohoo speech
-WAIT WHAT THE TARDIS SHOWS UP AT WHISTLES TOO
-Oh, so that’s why that guy’s wearing jewels in the trailer, I tought he was always like that.
-And apparently the Doctor got him out of the robot king to keep him as a companion.
-”I’m not avoiding anything, I’m just trying to save a planet.”  “Which is what you always do when the conversation turns serious.”
-”Hello Doctor nice suit”  “Hi”  “Good morning”  “Whatever”  “So uh.. what happened to Clara”  “WHOOPS GOTTA GO SAVE A PLANET BYE”
-Bet that guy wanted to rip his shirt open to reveal the supersuit inside for years
-Why are they suddenly in Japan
-”I flooded downstairs with Pokemon.”  1. I laughed at that bit in the trailer, but it’s somehow even funnier considering they’re in Japan.  2. BBC doesn’t even care about copyrights anymore. In fact, they haven’t careed for quite a while.  3. favorite scene in the episode so far.
-FUCKING TEA
-WELL IF THIS ISN’T BRITAIN
-Oh yeah, brilliant plan, have the creepy stare-y surgeons march along down the street in a line, no one will ever notice
-An ambulance? Okay, less stupid plan
-Random question: Why are those guys’ heads split diagonally and not vertically or horizontally? It gets on my nerves. Besides, what if one of them is left handed?
-That mask reveal took a turn, and uh  but uh  “Grant, the man I took for granted”  SHE’S MAKING PUNS EVEN WHILE GRIEVING
-That’s awkward
-”What do the rich old men always do when the fighting starts? They’ll find the safest place to hide themselves away and send all the young people to die.”  I feel bad that this is too true to be taken lightly.
-”Oh, there’s the smile, I don’t like the smile!”
-”You’re completely out of your mind!”  “How is that news to anyone?”  I love the dialogue in this episode
-WOOHOO
-”He’s actually left handed”  So I was right, crackheads can’t be left handed?
-GRANT, THE BOMB
-Welp
Tumblr media
giving up on life like
Tumblr media
The Doctor’s having none of your shit

-WHOA BITCH THAT HEAD IS BLANK
-”Put in a call to Osgood.” Nice reference.
-WHOOPS THAT SOLDIER
-”I’ve been away for a while but I’m back”  Also nice reference to the previous episode (that I CRIED ABOUT)
-DAMMIT STOP TORMENTING MR HUFFLE IF YOU WISH TO AVOID A PAINFUL DEATH
-OH GOD NO
Tumblr media
SHE’S PASSING THE CURSE TO THE DOCTOR
-HE MUST BE SAVED
-REBLOG TO PASS THE CURSE TO SOMEONE ELSE OR WHATEVER
-#SAVETHEDOCTOR2017
Tumblr media
-OH DEAR GOD THE CURSE IS WITH HIM, NONONONONO DOCTOR DON’T TAKE IT WITH YOU SHE’S TRYING TO DEFLECT ITS RAGE TOWARDS YOU
Tumblr media
The... shirt... That’s a first.
-Oh jeebuz crisxenz now Mr Huffle is in the Tardis and he will bring bad luck to us all and he will be the reason we will be crying in any future episode ever and he will cause Twelve’s regeneration mark my words
-Dear Lord protect us
-Oh wait Moffat’s not gonna protect us is he
-We’re screwed

like face the raven was a pretty good ending for clara and a good show of her character. and i think that bringing her back temporarily for the finale because twelve cant accept her death is a good concept because As we all Know the doctor tends to be very unstable about their silly little humans they kidnap and bring to space. all of this was set up really well and this whole ending was really good right about up until twelve runs off to the end of time in the Other stolen tardis to shake the time lords off their trail and he finds ashildr there etc etc. i think at that point it started to fall apart a bit and it kind of all was Finished when clara just. lived. and flew off with ashildr. idk. it all went from feeling very intentional and well thought out to like. "what can we do to undo all of the other things we've done in this finale" and its like Alright i Guess
