My ode to Clarence: a home release of the entire show.
I had this planned as the day was nearer, so that meant making an original cover rather than rely on promo art with just Clarence, Jeff and Sumo; I wanted Mary, Chad and their friends alongside them.
Mary, Chad, Amy, Belson, Dustin, Nathan, Percy, Kimby, and Breehn were all made prior as separate character images, which took me around an hour and a half in placing each character, putting consistent shading on the right-sided characters, and adding Percy as I never made an existing vector before (mostly because he was my least favorite character). Meanwhile, Clarence, Sumo and Jeff, close to the cover, were made for this, which took me around an hour or so less by tracing existing art I made of them to save time. The "The Complete Series" text was made by tracing the letters from the show's end credits rather than make them in the same font as the title. All this was a big task, but to quote Clarence, it was worth it.
The DVD cover was taken from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends: The Complete Series, with its cover removed with PhotoLayers.
Originally, I almost thought about making a version of this without the digital code, which is basically the Blu-ray Disc logo in place of the "Blu-ray + Digital Code" text
Now Clarence has been my favorite show ever since around 2015 and I still love it to this day. If you love the show, too, express your love in the comments.

percy genuinely has good music taste, but she also has a collection of silly/genuinely bad songs that she’ll make her friends listen to in the car. and she knows Every Word, and she’s screaming along.

And the battle begins!
The voters of past polls have chosen two champions: The Lighting Thief and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Something about these being YA fantasy novels of America and Britain is so funny to me. So vote! And the winner will be the TRUE best opening line (because it is so totally not Harry Potter and we all know it).
Please reblog to break containment 💜📚
Percy Jackson/The Lightning Thief: Look, I didn’t want to be a half-blood.
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader: There was a boy called Eustace Clarence Stubbs and he almost deserved it.

I occasionally see Henry IV's treatment of the Mortimer boys as "proof" Richard III had no need to kill the Princes in the Tower and it always strikes me as a false equivalency.
Henry IV had very good reasons to keep the Mortimer boys alive. The Mortimer claim to the throne would not be extinguished by their deaths nor transfer to him, but would devolve upon their Mortimer relatives. Their sister, Anne's claim was eventually used by Richard Duke of York and Edward IV as justification for the Yorkist usurpation of the throne. More relevant to Henry IV's lifetime, however, was the boys' uncle, Sir Edmund Mortimer, whose loyalties appear to have concerned Henry even before he became an ally of the Welsh rebel Owain Glyn Dŵr. The Glyn Dŵr-Mortimer alliance posed a clear risk to Henry, one that would be only worsened should the Mortimer boys have died. Mortimer was out of Henry's reach, unable to be swiftly or easily dealt with. Another interesting facet was Mortimer naming his son after Lionel of Antwerp, from whom the Mortimers derived their claim to the throne. In short, Mortimer was an opponent in open rebellion against Henry, showed clear interest in championing his family's claim to the throne and was also unable to be quickly or efficiently dealt with. Killing the Mortimer boys would have only produced a much greater threat to Henry IV's reign.
Nor was the risk limited to Edmund Mortimer. The Mortimer claim derived through the female line which meant every girl and woman in the family could have passed on her claim to another family. Again, Anne Mortimer and the Yorkist claim is the obvious example but more pertinent to Henry IV was the claim passed from Elizabeth Mortimer (Sir Edmund's sister) to her son, Henry Percy. This Percy was still a child, like the Mortimer boys were, but he was also the son of Henry "Hotspur" Percy and grandson of Henry Percy, 1st Earl of Northumberland, both of whom rebelled against Henry IV. If Henry killed the Mortimer boys and Edmund Mortimer died (naturally or unnaturally), Percy would likely become the next figurehead for the next rebellion, serving as an alternate king. Like Edmund Mortimer, he was also out of Henry's reach, meaning there was no quick and easy way to deal with his claim.
In realpolitik terms, murdering the Mortimer boys would have only created problems for Henry. They were children in Henry's custody, raised side-by-side with Henry's own sons. Any threat they posed was, realistically, small. Their deaths would only allow much more dangerous opponents to inherit their claim and pose a much greater risk to Henry IV. Nor was it workable for Henry to wipe out the entire Mortimer line, including collateral branches, to eliminate the threat. Additionally, the destruction of the Mortimers likely would have backfired terribly on him. The murder of children was considered abhorrent by their society, regardless of any good realpolitik reasoning, and Henry's reputation was already poor. For Henry, the option that gave him the best security was the option he took - he left the Mortimer boys alive.
This is not true for the Princes in the Tower. Leaving aside the debates on their fate, their claim derived from the same source that Richard III's did. When they were declared illegitimate, their claim devolved on Richard. Their death would have only confirmed Richard's right to the throne, especially considering Richard was not interested in championing the claims of Edward IV's daughters or George Duke of Clarence's children.
I am not getting into the debate of whether Richard did/did not kill the Princes because I don't have the time or energy for that. What I am saying, though, is the argument that he may not have killed them because Henry IV didn't kill the Mortimer boys is disingenuous. It was in Henry's best interests to keep them alive because killing them only meant their claim would have passed to more dangerous claimants who had already rebelled against him or were the children of those who had already rebelled against him. Richard III, on the other hand, had no such issue. The Princes' claim posed a threat to him (if they were not a threat, why were they kept imprisoned after they were de-legitimised and why did they mysteriously disappear? Even if one accepts the theory that Richard sent them to the continent or the Princes had no quarrel with their benevolent uncle, he must have done so with great secrecy and for a reason - i.e. he feared that they would be used against him as figureheads for a rebellion). But with Clarence's children both removed from the succession by attainder and in his custody, the claim to the throne that the Princes possessed fell to him, not to any of his enemies. Indeed, the great threat to his reign was the revival of the Lancastrian claim in the form of the future Henry VII.

Welcome to the Layton NPC Showdown!
This is a bracket to determine which of the many memorable NPCs from across the Professor Layton games are the greatest.
GAMES INCLUDED: Every game except LBMR. Eternal Diva characters are also not included here.
WHAT COUNTS AS AN NPC?: Anyone who doesn't have a puzzle animation. Characters excluded are Layton, Luke, Flora, Clive, Emmy, Randall, Aurora, Des, Espella, Phoenix, Maya, Katrielle, Ernest, Sherl, Hastings, and Emiliana.
WILL THERE BE NOMINATIONS?: Nope! Every NPC will be included.
WHAT ABOUT THE LAYTONMOBILE/MOLENTARY EXPRESS?: No vehicles. Not characters.
WHAT ABOUT THE PUZZLE LADS/LASSES?: I only plan on including characters that we can speak to in-game, so no Puzzle Lads or Lasses. Sorry to the people who like them 😔
WHICH CHARACTERS ARE INCLUDED, THEN?: Anyone who isn't an exception listed above that is in the profiles of the game! A full list is enclosed below.
WHEN WILL THE TOURNAMENT START?: More information forthcoming on that! I have to seed the bracket first :)
WHY IS NAIYA YOUR ICON?: In my opinion, she's one of the more underrated NPCs of the series. I'll probably cycle through some of the ones I have available to me right now.
WHAT CRITERIA SHOULD I VOTE ON?: Whatever makes you happy :)
ARE ALTER EGOS SEPERATE CHARACTERS?: No. For instance, Ratman is not included because his secret identity is in the tournament.
US OR UK NAMES?: I will try to make available as many names for the NPCs as possible! Which includes their Japanese names and as many names in the localizations as I am able to obtain from the wiki and my own sources. I'll probably reliably have the English (both versions where applicable), Japanese, and French names for every character when I do the bracket rounds. The list below however is entirely in English.
And now for a list of the entries! I didn't check all of these for inconsistencies, but I attempted to ascertain that I used the US versions. Some of them might be UK versions though because that's the version of the game I have (specifically Diabolical Box NPCs and Last Specter NPCs -- I know some of their US names but not all).

Summary: On a world of so many villains and heroes, its hard to pay attention on what everyone is doing. There are many goods and many evils that are overshadowed.
One of these evils is a corrupt organization called the Green Light Lab. The press knows little to nothing about them, and they take advantage of that. Besides having the most advanced technology on the whole world, all their experiments are cruel and immoral.
Kids that were genetically modified to grow animal parts, others who had their body parts replaced by machines.
They decided to take their nefarious plan a step further, and now, they are after the gems of virtues! Powerful artifacts that can grant many powers.
Unfortunately for them, a group made of 5 heroes (well, technically 3, because the other 2 only join officially on season 2, but they help from time to time, and I love them!).
The team is formed by Harry (A Rebel Traumatized Scientist), Zak (A Traumatized Demigod Jock, that deep down has a heart of gold), Amber (A half-fairy and half-human princess, that has a lot of inspirations on Disney movies), and our beloved Charlie and Kitty Nex (half-cosmic entities with the powers of controlling time and space).
Will they be able of defeating the lab? Will Harry’s secrets break them apart? Will the Justice League allow them to handle this situation on their own?
Follow their journeys, see them develop bonds, fight against evil, and heal from past traumas.
_______________________________________________
Ladies and Gentlemen, the cover of Season 1 is here.
As said earlier, this is a DC project, but also involves characters from Clarence and some other smaller cameos.
I am not exactly satisfied, and will probably redo it someday, but, for now, I think it will suffice.
The story will be published weekly, but not in complete chapters. The chapters would have the length of a cartoon episode. So, to help you all read, I will divide the chapters in 5 to 6 parts and publish them.
My schedule:
New Art: Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
Chapters: Every Monday (For now).
DC reblogs to help me understand more of the lore (or just because it gives me ideas, lol): All days.
Miscellaneous (Chapter Lists, Headcanons, and such): No specific date.
Asks are always open.

If I'm an English peasant during the Wars of the Roses, do I know that the Yorks and Lancasters are fighting (before they pillage my farm) and why?
Surprisingly, yes!
The lower classes were actually mobilized a fair bit during the political and military struggles between York and Lancaster:
the Kingmaker's popularity with the City of London due to his (frankly criminal) actions as the Captain of Calais had major political and military implications. It led to Suffolk's death in 1450, it prevented Margaret from holding pro-Lancastrian Parliaments in London, and when the real fighting started, Margaret had significant trouble controlling the capital.
Similarly, one of Edward IV's main political strengths was his enormous popularity among the commons of London, which allowed him to easily proclaim himself as King after Mortimer's Cross, and then again in returning from exile.
Jack Cade's rebellion in 1450 was a clear Yorkist/anti-Lancastrian effort to the point where it probably had some Yorkist backing behind the scenes.
The Kingmaker was really good at organizing peasant rebellions against his enemies: Robin of Redesdale's (also known as "Robin Mend-all") Rebellion of 1469 was a rebellion against Edward IV that used the imagery of Robin Hood to stir people up against taxes and "abuses of power," but was led by retainers of Richard Neville, and the Lincolnshire Rebellion of 1470 was sponsored by the Kingmaker and George of Clarence against Edward IV.
On the other hand, Robin of Holderness' rebellion in 1469 was a pro-Lancastrian rebellion against a "corn tax" (i.e, a tax on grain) and in favor of restoring the Percy family (one of the most powerful Lancastrian Houses and mortal enemies of the Nevilles) to the Earldom of Northumberland.
Finally, you have the Cornish Rebellions of 1497, which combined economic motivations (Henry VII has raised taxes for a war against Scotland, and had damaged Cornwall's economy by banning tin-mining) with support for Perkin Warbeck, the impostor Richard of York who tried to overthrow Henry Tudor.
So yeah, English peasants had Views on the Wars of the Roses, often depending on whether they came from the North or the South.

Like Bjorn Ironside pretending to be dead and getting his coffin only to suppress attack, what’s the coolest battle/fight tactics in history?
I'm going to preface this with the fact that 1) There are too many to list here (or anywhere really) and 2) I'm limited to what I personally know.
That said, here are a few that spring to mind:
Richard III's last charge at the Battle of Bosworth Field. Not only did he get within a sword's length of killing Henry Tudor himself but Richard also killed Henry's standard-bearer, Sir William Brandon, AND unhorsed burly John Cheyne, his older brother's former standard-bearer. Not bad for a guy who would today qualify for the Special Olympics. (The Japanese equivalent would be Sanada Yukimura.)
Harold Godwinson marching his army 185 miles (or 298 km) in just four days to take the Norwegians by surprise at the Battle of Stamford Bridge. (Honorable mention goes to the soldier who got in a barrel and floated under the bridge to spear the Viking holding off the entire English army. Chevalier de Bayard, a real life knight in shining armor, later replicated this feat by holding off 200 Spanish knights single-handedly at the Battle of Garigliano.)
When the rebels started chanting "Henry Percy King" at the Battle of Shrewsbury, Henry IV shouted back "Henry Percy is dead." Needless to say, Henry Percy did not respond. (His eldest son, the future Henry V (or as Shakespeare names him in his youth, Prince Hal), took an arrow to the face in this same battle, which is why Henry V's portraits always depict him from his uninjured side.)
Hannibal crossing the Alps and whooping Rome's ass multiple times on its own turf. (There's a reason "Hannibal ad portas" became a saying. Also, Napoleon I later replicated this feat.)
At the Battle of Bremule, a Norman knight seized the reins of Louis the Fat's horse, shouting "the king is taken!" Louis' response? Hitting the guy with his mace and shouting "the king is not taken, neither at war, nor at chess!"
Alexander the Great turning the island city of Tyre into a peninsula.
Alexander Buchanan killing Thomas, Duke of Clarence at the Battle of Bauge and holding the dead duke's coronet aloft on his lance.
Thanks for the question, anon
