finally got some time to finish these guys up! which is sort of ironic considering I started these because I wanted to draw Malleus with a Dragapult, and then I just didn't for a million years!

Malleus has the aforementioned Dragapult, except it's a super special non-canon color Dragapult (like an anime-only form that you could get in-game exclusively through some limited-time event where you have to show up in-person at a specific location in Japan) (it has some wacky overpowered exclusive move/form and the OT is listed as Malleus) (so like that kind of ridiculous specialness) (Leona is extremely salty about this). also hoards and hoards of Dreepy. Dreepy LOVE Malleus. they take naps on his horns inbetween begging him to throw them across the island at mach speeds.

Lilia has a Drampa and a bunch of Woobat that he hasn't actually caught, they just follow him around in swarms because they sense a kinship with him. (also breaking my own rule again to say that he had a Mawile in the past, because...I just really wanted to give him a Mawile...)

Sebek has Sandile for obvious reasons, and also a Pikachu that bullies him relentlessly. :(

Silver has a shiny Corvisquire; I really went back-and-forth on also giving him an Aegislash, but...hm. those pokedex entries though. he can stick with just one for now.

(I hadn't planned on the shiny for him, but after I'd decided on the Corvisquire line and was looking it up for reference, I realized that shiny Rookidee is gold and then turns silver when it evolves and I lost my entire goddamn mind)

wow I wonder what could have happened around 2013 to cause this

#which the article doesn't mention at all of course #look. i can only speak to 1) math instruction 2) on the elementary school level #and middle school level #and only in the districts ive worked with #but ive said this before and I'll say it again. the current way math is taught has the same problems that balanced literacy did #kids who are naturally good at math will figure it out no matter how its taught #in fact they probably ARE benefiting a lot from being exposed a variety of strategies and conceptual thinking #the sort of stuff that would typically be reserved for a pull-out gifted/discovery/links class #but the kids who struggle with math? this does NOT help them #they dont just 'pick up' addition and multiplication facts #the ~more conceptual~ strategies dont actually lead to more conceptual understanding for them. its just a different (more complicated!)#algorithm for them to memorize #and because it doesn't come easily to them #they aren't given the necessary practice (which yes. involves repetition!!) to master any strategy #kids who can't struggle to make big conceptual leaps shouldn't be denied access to basic math skills #and i will die on the hill of 'its easier to think about complex probel #*problems and think conceptually if you aren't devoting mental resources to trying to figure out 8*7 by repeated addition

genuine question, do you like maths?? i have a vague feeling i saw your post of tags or something that said something about it but i cannot figure out if it was in fact you or if it was even positive ahahah

Yeah that was me! I don't go looking for math problems, but when I happen to do them, I tend to enjoy it. Wasn't always this way — elementary school math was about speed and memorization and I hated that — but I had a really good teacher in upper secondary school, and it became about creative problem solving. It feels the same as writing a poem in meter or managing to untangle a really bad knot in a ball of yarn.

#i can't do math in my head or memorize formulas #and i'm not precise‚ which is bad for questions that are only numbers. like. 5+6=? type of stuff #because if all you need to is write the final answer‚ then if that answer is wrong‚ youve failed. don't get the points for the exam question #but! upper secondary school math! my beloved! (specifically lyhyt matikka‚ idk what pitkä is like)#there's a book that has all the formulas in it and you can use it and look them up even during exams. no memorization #it doesn't explain *how* the formulas are used but still #and there was more time than there ever was in my previous schools. and finishing fast did not mean you were better. i could take my time #and there were so many... worded questions? like instead of pure numbers they present the problem to you in words. phrases. prose #here is a situation. solve it #and you get to choose HOW to solve it #sometimes i could not remember how a formula worked‚ or hadn't quite figured out a recently taught technique yet #and i just. figured out a different way to solve the problem #can't remember the answer to 5x8? let's count 5+5+5+5+5+5+5+5 instead #38/7? lets draw 38 little balls in the margin and separate them into groups of 7 and see how many there are and how many strays get left out #like that but applied to lots of stuff #and it was enougj! it was fine! it was a valid way to solve it! i got the right answer!#unless i messed something up! a + turned into a - by accident somewhere in the middle of the equation #but! part of this level of math was that it was encouraged to write our whole thought process down #and i‚ unable to do it off the paper anyway #i wrote down ALL OF IT #and the teacher saw where i went wrong and that it was little precision things but that i had the techniques down and #i still got most of the points for those questions instead of losing everything because of an incorrect number at the end #these differences have meant everything #math is puzzles. puzzles can be fun #some of my first memories of math class are of me sobbing under my desk #i cried a few tears in all my matriculation exams too‚ even for my favourite subjects. but not math #one of the most important questions was a geometry one. i shine in that area #i grinned doing it

me: MY HAIRLINE IS RECEDING OH NO OH FUCK

also me: full time student (worth noting i wrote stupid here at first without realizing), 20-30 hours in customer service every week, teaching myself 3/4 classes, teaching myself advanced algebra with a teacher (basically just a proctor) who shuts down any/all asks for help, juggling college financial woes, navigating dying relationships/people abandoning and/or attacking me bc i don't have time for things i used to anymore, none of my hobbies are making me happy when and if i have time for them,, i have no time for myself, i'm on my second all-nighter this week, i'm perpetually exhausted in a way sleep isn't fixing, my body aches because i'm so tired, and i'm barely able to stay asleep when i do get the chance bc the anxiety wakes me up

my hairline: two hops this time!

#i'm so stressed man #sehtoast rambles #sehtoast vents? fuck if i know #i just feel like i can't get ahead #i used to be able to get all my shit done by friday and have the bulk of the weekend to myself #but that's not doable at all this term #i just had a whole ass mental breakdown over fucking homework #like i'm almost grateful T made it near impossible for me to cry bc like #i was going to have a whole sobbing crying breakdown and at least i only had to feel the mental and physical anguish of it instead #it's 3am and i just made coffee so i can do the rest of my work #luckily the last two are super little in comparison but #i can't keep doing 30 pages of notes with 10 pages of homework and a 40 question 'quiz' for math #on top of making like 7 excel spreadsheets a week #not including the 50 page readings for management plus the 50 questions that follow and the writing assignments #i'm so glad my ids class is easy. dr s is my personal jesus christ for being so gentle with her students #idk i'm just... really not doin well rn #at all #idk if anyone read this far in #if you did ily and appreciate you
