Helloooo, Im new to the HP fandom and I’ve watched all the movies and rn I’m just binge reading a bunch of Drarry fics, so I’ve been wondering are there any short Crack/funny 8th year fics? I’ve been reading a lot of sad Draco 8th year fics and I can’t handle it anymore so if you can suggest me some good happy ones that would be amazing, thanku♥️
I found one that I've read that's a crack!fic set in 8th year.
How to Make Harry Potter Purr: After being stalked by a kitten, Draco discovers he has a fetish for purring.
And here are the ones that are in the humor genre and are in 8th year:
Baby Mama Drama: Draco and Potter once again find themselves fighting. But what happens when Draco’s spell goes wrong, and he has to take care of an indisposed Potter? Eventual DracoXHarry, rated M for later chapters. Post-War Fic
Cake or Death: Potter has cake. How rude. DrabbleFAIL for dysonrules. HPDM. AU 7th-year fluffy!verse. Daftness ahoy!
Draco Malfoy and the Very Vexing Vampire: At the Eighth Years’ Halloween party, Draco finds himself being stalked by a stray, slinking, sneaky vampire. He minds, of course. Terribly much so.
Draco Malfoy’s Harry Potter Pickup Lines: When Blaise dares him to ask Harry Potter a multitude of ridiculous pick-up lines, Draco accepts without expecting much. Honestly, what are the odds that a few pick-up lines could capture the heart of the Boy Who Lived anyhow? 8th year.
Fair Courtesy: This is what happens when you destroy one of the eighth-year dorm beds and therefore have one less of them than you should have.
The Greatest Gift: It’s Christmas, and Professor McGonagall has decided, much to Draco Malfoy’s disgruntlement, that all students remaining at Hogwarts for Christmas are required to take part in a Secret Santa program. When Draco becomes Harry Potter’s Secret Santa, he’s at his wit’s end, but can he use this opportunity to nab the only boy he’s ever really wanted? Eighth-year fic, three-shot.
Harmonized Consciousness: [NOW EDITED AND COMPLETE HPDM 8th Year EWE] This time it’s a spell gone wrong in Charms that will bring our two favourite boys together. Expect Mind-Magic Classic HD Clichés & Soul Mates
In the Interest of Interhouse Cooperation: Organizing a Duelling Club was supposed to be a fun extracurricular activity for Harry’s 8th year. But add in Draco Malfoy and a malfunctioning Room of Requirement, and things can’t help but get complicated.
Invisible Bravery: Harry goes for nightly walks, and someone starts following him. Harry tries to smoke them out, and they end up stuck in the Forbidden Forest together. Drarry silly fluff!
Sealed with a Kiss: Harry Potter will fall in love with the first person who kisses him. Draco knows what he must do. A Christmassy Hogwarts kissy fic, this. An eight year fic. Post-DH. EWE. HPDM. SLASH. HUMOR. COMPLETE.
Storm in a Teacup: For reasons he’d rather not think about, Draco is obsessed with Potter’s hair. This cannot end well.
The Nightmare Club: Hermione and Ron are going back to Hogwarts to do N.E.W.T.s, Ginny isn’t. Harry hasn’t decided, until he has, in front of the Wizengamot and now he’s responsible for Malfoy as well. A tale of enemies who learn to get along, get it wrong and get it on. Everything is purple, some things are on fire and no-one is sleeping properly. But don’t worry, there’s tea!
The Punching Mistletoe: Sometimes mistletoes want you to punch each other. HPDM. Slash. Eight Year. Hogwarts!fic. EWE.
Then Comes a Mist and a Weeping Rain: It always rains for Draco Malfoy. Metaphorically. And literally. Ever since he had accidentally Conjured a cloud. A cloud that’s ever so cross. SLASH. HPDM. Humour. Metaphorical angst. Hufflepuffs. A peacock. An eight year fic. Post-DH. EWE.
I hope this helps!

strawberry shortcake s2 ep1 - horse of a different color
this one was suggested by someone who couldnt keep their mouth shut and not sing the strawberry shortcake intro theme in the middle of our economy class
no one wanted to hear that, but they  went ahead and then i actually followed up on that train of thoughts i remembered about the fucking cartoons and i knew it pronto: its a must-see shit its like slightly above the level of magical school bus series, but the final rating is for the fin not the beginning so lets begin this horseshit:
Tumblr media
were reviewing “horse of a different color”, it focuses indeed on strawberrys horse, honey pie pony (its her entire damn name, how sweet right? like all of them, i got diabete from this review but its the cost of maintaining this blog anyway, the kids are playing together on a that tree having fun jumping around like chimpanzees hooba hooba but sadly our filly quickly realizes she cant play king kong with them and keep falling on her ass,
Tumblr media
yet since theyre all retarded or young (id say its a fifty-fifty case for them kinda normal ig, i mean they ARE literal 6yo) they try several ways of getting her up on that tree, not thinking how to get her down if they ever were to succeed (good for them: aint happening) its child labor too btw, from an horse still same deal what if honey pie fell down on them? crushing them corpses with her mighty pounds? the findus company would be delighted to hear such news, im sure its some quality (sweet ass) horse meat
Tumblr media
once it all fails she understands a horse isnt meant to climb a tree, too big too fat its four legged, not even entertaining the relationship giraffes have with trees
Tumblr media
but it aint over, then (after a talk with herself) hp hears the laughters of a bunch of kids which catches her attention, it always does who can ignore that sorta noise? although she aint annoyed by it shes just into the idea of riding a bike now, shes even gonna get a go at it oh yea thats it we finally found her human hobby gogdamn shes a backward furry
Tumblr media
of course it fails aswell since she has no hand for the handle and shes heavy so i guess its the reason why she rides into w/e and cant stop? because otherwise she couldve also just.. actually it makes no sense does it? i mean she couldve easily stopped the ride actually how is that kid bike even holding her? ive never tried putting a pony on a bike for 6 y/o but i doubt about its capacity in not being crushed aswell as i doubt in the kids bones not being severely damaged after a visit under honey pies horsy buttcheeks
Tumblr media
but all of that really makes her sad: she cant play with her human friends and shes the only horse around strawberry land or whatever see me tearing it for her, theres so much emotions in this episode especially after that filly trynna get kids to get into some horseplay horseshit like dude theyre only 6, lets go easy on them, might have a problem with the parents of the kids watching this episode no one even thought how fucked up this one part is? sure horseplay isnt only sexual or w/e but it still is the visual of 6yos on all four jumping around and neighing together with their ass a little bit too exposed wow im going on a dangerous road here? aint i? not gonna sue the writers im sure it was their subconscious speaking probably got issues from their childhood, eventually got them sorted out since 2004 what do i know? aside from me not caring
Tumblr media
back on track : after seeing horsey being so sad the kiddos decide to get her a horse friend but where the fuck? they got no idea, they are proud nonetheless and go tell honey the good new until they are like “wait but we have no idea where to find horses!” ofc we get a big reveal, some serious strawberry shortcake lore: actually all the horses, ALL OF THEM FROM THE ENTIRE FUCKING PLANET are on one (1) single island: ice cream themed to diversify it all they are just chilling over there in ponyland and for some reason this one here got lost or idk guys she took the boat and checked the rest of the world out as an even younger filly, found strawberry and her friends and decided now she was a centaur  slash humanrry furry human, idk you get it but shes their friend and so on to introduce the concept of an AWESOME island full of equestrian activity and ofc ice cream but its kinda lame because who cares? everythings already made out of food, also why isnt the ice cream melting? its one water? nevermind for the introduction as i was saying, hp sings an horrendous sounding song it deteriorated my ear drums they got pierced or something  or maybe im exagerrating? either case horses cant sing:
Tumblr media
so to the ice cream land they go, huh
of course it wouldnt be a big adventure without an almost broken bridge oh no whatever shall we do? could we possibly cross it safely? lets try it out  guys: yay it worked good for us little stress and suspense it was wack how they got honey pie out of the hole her big ass hoove made im mesmerized by the power of friendship and sugar at this point, just in full awe for the rest of the episode probably over dosed on all the ice cream flavoured horseshit, i got some all over my mouth its dripping on my desk i gotta clean that later
next thing we know: horses its all this episode is about (aside from labor) but you see, so far hp would switch between normal human language and neighing well turns out her other fellow equines can only neigh and so they just neigh together while our english well-spoken mammal translates to the moronic kids who just smile smuggly
Tumblr media
of course the animals are having a welcome party then, dancing around while the morons are just bored, harsh one being a cartoon character isnt it guys? w/e theyre gonna ask for honey pie to come back home now, convinced that her natural habit isnt her place and she loves them too much to just leave them and never come back and break any plans they ever had together- oh shit looks like shes leaving forever huh? what a plot twist mark that on the bitch quota for today
Tumblr media
the first one to leave is the little boy btw, important thing to note: hes the biggest pussy he cant even face reality: oh no, no more pony back time before sleep thats quite a bummer, downer and man how are they going to survive now they got no animal to watch over them? jesus theyre soon, on the boat (idk where they got it from idk why suddenly theyre on a boat because then theyre once again gonna cross that bridge but ok) anyway yea theyre having a relationship crisis during that ship trip yada yada ah and the bridge, because (see i do not call them morons for now reasons obviously they deserve this title not only because theyre 6 but also because they are just daft:) they proceed, once in the middle of the bridge all 4 of them, to stop and wonder
“will the bridge be able to hold all of us? wont it break? damn i wonder if it will crack” and they talks without moving until vlam: a tree comes and breaks it (dont ask) so now theyre in trouble:
Tumblr media
back to ponyland: bitch pie realizes how much she misses her actual friends and that she can speak english which her other horse friends cant do so she is special and probably abnormal, shes a big outcat of the pony society and has no other reason but to escape her incoming death sentence for fraternizing with the humans of course none of the second part is true, she just wants to see the kids again so she says asta la vista baby to the neigher team and runs away see, she hasnt taken the boat and yet also arrive to the bridge? why a boat sequence then? i will skip this for now but it WILL play in the rating, imagine im the parent of the youngster watching this crap and i have to endure it
if it sucks this bad and is this illogical i might just get bored and change the channel, idc my progeny aint gonna be watching this in either case, ill make them watch political debates then interrogate them on what they learned after what but it wasnt actual political debates just random furry youtuber venting with their fursona sprites animated and thats how you make your kids retarded, the kick of this joke is that i aint planning on getting any kids but totally gonna make them watch classics too such as the attack of the killer donuts as soon as they reach 6 so they wont be dumb and probably not getting diabete or w/e in their adulthood
then honey pie saves the kids btw all of them, heavy shit
Tumblr media
and they all go back to strawberryland, happily after a big “wow i missed you sm, you are my real friends w/e if you dont look like me i aint speciest guys really!” theyre all vegan too btw so this works for them i havent watched enough strawberry shortcake episodes to know if they ever eat meat but i have doubts seeing how theyre into a very cannibalistic diet which include eating dessert when obviously thats what they are at least half part, this cartoon raises a lot of political questions it may have a deeper value than i first attributed to it
the end: another terrible song plays about horseshit and how tasty it is
Tumblr media
thats all folks
so the rating: big 6/10, so you know 5/10 if its a decent kid show where im highly eager to click on the x and get back making jams but nah
surprisingly enough, i only wanted to stop watching half of the episode and not the entirity of it so credits for thats since im an adult and not a kid, imagining kids enjoyed this sweet childish cartooness or w/e now why +1? its because of how many political questions it raised, how it made me think about our society and cakes yknow its more than kids having a conflict with an horse it talks about veganism, specism, handicap, cannibalism, the management of the limited ressources were exploiting and so on yea really makes you think, its subliminal messages to make kids smarter: they watch their dessert-imbecile counterparts doing bs and then get it right irl: good  ah- it also makes it better for you when youre watching this with your kid, you suddenly transcend to another level of spirituality, existential crisis activated or at least reasoning mode or w/e youre willing to name this the point is you arent bored still despite all of this i rated it quite low for such a serious kid cartoon what couldve possibly made me tic? 1) kids are morons and cant understand all of this, not clear enough for the targeted public 2) projection onto the characters/dialogues from the writers of their childhood traumas (the horse play event didnt go unnoticed, karren brown) 3) my little pony ripoff 4) its controversial, our society, especially in 2004 couldnt understand the depth of this shit and finally 5) i got so much ice cream flavoured horseshit all over my desk god help me this is so filthy what a fucking mess i would totally recommand it to anyone who feels like being blown away by the statements made in this work of art 6/10 but really we all know in the future, itll be a 9/10, some ahead-of-its-time-crap

Behind The Album: Chinese Democracy (Was It Any Good?)
For the most part, the album was met with generally positive reviews. Los Angeles Times writer Ann Powers even compared it a little bit to Brian Wilson, which is always a great compliment. Chuck Klosterman thought the vocals and guitars were great, but did find issue with certain elements of the production. Rolling Stone said that the album was “a great, audacious, unhinged and uncompromising hard-rock record.” Other reviews saw the songs as larger works like a suite in classical music terms. Kitty Rock writing for The Observer made the claim that Axl Rose simply copied verbatim a Nine Inch Nails album. Pitchfork stated as well that the album overall was good, but the sound was 10 years late. People did not like music that sounded like that anymore. Biographer Steven Davis, who actually wrote a book on Guns N’ Roses, thought the album was the worst ever. You can take that with a grain of salt as he has proven over the course of his catalog to be quite subjective in assessing any band. Another interesting perspective came from Robert Christgau on the album as he wrote for MSN Music at the time. He saw it as fascinating to see Axl Rose try to do this type of album after finding so much success with the hard rock of Appetite For Destruction. I think a lot of people appreciated creatively what Axl Rose was attempting with the album. Although, he did not quite succeed to a great degree of success, but they gave him credit for even giving it a try.
Axl’s former band mates were more than complementary about Chinese Democracy. Slash would say about the album, “It's a really good record. It's very different from what the original Guns N' Roses sounded like, but it's a great statement by Axl ... It's a record that the original Guns N' Roses could never possibly make. And at the same time it just shows you how brilliant Axl is." Izzy Stradlin also enjoyed the record saying, "I have listened to some tracks off the record and I enjoyed them.” Although, he did also say that he was not sure if it was worth a 10 year wait either. Other former band members similarly reacted very positively to the release of the record, except for Steven Adler. He said that he did not like the album one bit alluding to the fact that he could not even recognize Axl’s voice on the record. The only other band member to agree with Adler was Tracii Guns, who thought the record was quite boring and not very exciting at all.
I went back to listen to the album in full. Upon its release, I had tried listening to it, but never really committed to the whole thing. I remember a friend saying that this album was the greatest thing ever, and he meant it not as an exaggeration. Some things stood out as I went through some of the tracks that I had merely glanced over 12 years ago. This is an album that is filled with moments, where it is really good. Yet, the problem is that there are also many more moments, where the album is not so good. There seems to be an overriding sense of rambling. I have never made such a comparison before, but the songs seem to go nowhere again and again. There is an apparent lack of structure to the songs making their lyrics quite an issue because you are just waiting for something to happen, but it never does. Many of the tracks almost feel like they belong in a musical, where the singer is also pushing the plot along as he speaks to the audience. Some songs you do not even have any sort of chorus as the only thing comes in the mere mention of the name of the song in passing in a couple of lines. The beginning and ending of certain tracks are very good, but the middle part, which should be a great hook almost never delivers that catchy middle part like in the song “Rocket Queen.” You never get that great middle part to sing along with, which is also very disappointing. As for the comparison to industrial rock or Nine Inch Nails, I can see no such similarity. I would probably put this music closer to early 2000’s generic, cookie cutter, corporate rock along the lines of maybe Blink-182 or something like that. Finally, I do see where people criticize the production or the sound of the record because you can tell that it is slightly less than professional throughout the record.
The legacy of Chinese Democracy will always be that the build up, the delays, the leaks, and all the other drama that went along with it outweighs the content of the album itself. In order for the work to live up to the enormous expectations built up around it was for the record to never come out at all. There reached a point where people were no longer interested in what was actually going to be on the album, rather they were more excited by delay after delay because it made for a good copy. Spin Magazine would go on to say that an entire industry had been made from writing about Chinese Democracy. Stephen Hyde of Grantland talked about the album as a warning to other artists and groups to never allow the behind the scenes story to outweigh the actual work itself. This served as a notice to groups like the Beastie Boys, David Bowie, Daft Punk, and others to remain quiet about any work in the studio until the album is released. Ultimateclassicrock.com said as much in an article on their site mentioning that nobody really cared that the album was fairly decent because the backstory had completely overtaken any concern artistically about the album. This is the last thing that Axl Rose probably wanted was for the public to stop caring about what was actually on the album. Jim Derogatis looked upon the album as a musical version of the Godfather Part III, where there were quite a few expectations built up, but when the final product was viewed became a tremendous disappointment. Finally, the New York Times saw the album as one of the last times you will see a record company bow down to the overindulgence of a pop or a rock star. In the do it yourself world of making albums today, you will never see a record ever again receive the budget assistance that it did for the first six years or so. The music industry refuses to spend that kind of money on one artist probably ever again.

Hey, I just recently discovered how much I like porter, madeon, daft punk and justice with help from your blog. How did you discover you liked the music and get into the fandoms?
I’m so happy my obsession did something impactful! But yeah so growing up i always likes song with my words say classical music or jazz. One day my friend introduced me to the shining world of edm, i started off with just basic stuff from youtube like monstercat etc. But then when RAM came out I was sucked into daft punk and from there I found other producers like porter, madeon, justice, danger, kavinsky, sebastian, etc etc etc. Then here we are now with a daft punk blog (with sometimes other edm)
check out my awesome mutuals if you want more content like mine!

I am skipping the 11 questions ones that I got tagged in because I was much busier this past week than I thought, and away this past weekend. But:
tagged by @neon-lake and @foobar-the-great, thanks guys! Answers are kind of mashed up together.
Nickname: Em, MK (my IRL initials)
Star Sign: Aquarius
Height: 5'5″ or 165 cm

Last thing Googled: “iodine isotopes” because I got a nuclear medicine question from a family member (I just got my degree in applied physics, dealing with radiation in medicine) and I wanted to make sure I had the right information.
Favorite Music Artists: I always come back to Talking Heads, Dessa, Spoon, and the Decemberists but recently I’ve been listening to much more classic rock, modern pop, and also somehow the Pandora station I use when I go to the gym basically just plays 90s hip-hop and Daft Punk.
Song Stuck in Your Head: On that note I’ve had Brain Damage from Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd stuck in my head.
Last Movie Watched: Rogue One. It’s awesome.
Last TV show Watched: Fresh off the Boat
What Are You Wearing Right Now: sweatpants and a t-shirt from a brewery (I work evenings so I’m in pajamas still)
When did You Create Your Blog: This one? Fall of 2015. I’d been on Tumblr on my main since sometime in 2014.
What Kind of Stuff Do You Post: here, mostly MBTI with occasional physics, general life, or self-help digressions.
Do You Have Any Other Blogs: Yes. I’m currently the mod of acknowledge-that-mbti-fact which I created because I was annoyed with kill-that-mbti-stereotype but has actually been really fun, I have my main which is my general ‘stuff that I like but lots of nerd fandom and politics in particular’ blog, and I have a blog that in practice is mostly aesthetic stuff but I created because I use the like button a lot and wanted more of a repository to find posts that I didn’t necessarily want to reblog to my main but enjoyed.
Do you get asks regularly: They seem to come in waves, so I just had several in a row but I’ll go weeks or months without them. Ask me stuff! I like it!
Why did you choose your url: at the time there weren’t many ISTJ blogs in the mbti community that I could find, and I wanted to play on the whole ISTJ stereotype (slash, mostly true thing) that we take on duties no one else will.
Gender: female
Hogwarts House: Ravenclaw. I have been called a Slytherin by several friends (who also consider themselves Slytherins); I’m definitely not a Gryffindor or Hufflepuff.
Pokemon Team: I don’t play Pokemon Go or know more than basic pop culture stuff about Pokemon, but I took the Buzzfeed quiz and got Mystic.
Favorite Color: blue-green
Average Hours of Sleep: usually about 7-8, generally at least 6 or I am very cranky.
Lucky Number: 5
Favorite Character(s): well my icon is Siobhan from Orphan Black and my main icon is Black Widow from Marvel and most of my faves are in that vein.
How Many Blankets Do You Sleep With: One, but it’s a massive comforter from an upper-midwest company that is not messing around.
Dream Job: I’m applying for medical physics residencies, wish me luck!
Followers: 1326 according to tumblr, who knows how many robots that involves :)
Favourite Animal: Cats. Baby bunny pictures are also always welcome
Cat or Dog Person: See above. I like dogs too and am way less allergic to them but somehow I am still a cat person.
Dream Trip: Either Japan or New Zealand.
When Did Your Account Peak: I feel like last summer was really good - my follower count has stayed steady with a slight increase but I think I had the best material then.
What Made You Decide to Make A Tumblr: I started because I liked some comics that updated on tumblr (one promptly went inactive, I lost interest in the other...also tumblr is not a great venue for comics, at least not if you follow the blog, since it’s so easy to miss something.
Fictional character you’d like as a sibling: I have 3 real-life siblings, I feel that is enough :)
How many blogs do I follow: about 320
Aesthetics: darker colors with lighter neutrals, some minimalism but also creative clutter, mountains and trees, books. Basically I like aesthetics but my range is broad.

A Zouk orchestra galore, along with some piano science: 3 music that is Unique shows to Grab
SINGAPORE: Looking to grab a concert which takes things? Whether you’re in rock, dance or classical, daring music lovers can look forward to 3 shows which do.
One of the shows at the continuing National University of Singapore (NUS) Arts Festival is Vibrational, by experimental rock band The Observatory. It sports 30 additional guitar players at a juggernaut of a show. On the opposite end of the spectrum, The Quantum Music Project is what happens once pianists hang outside using nimble-minded quantum physicists.
And if you would like your clubbing with some of those sudden, there’s The Henderson Project’s One More Time tribute to Zouk — a mash-up of your dance hits done with a orchestra. Prepared to listen to find out more?
Longtime Zouk resident DJ Aldrin (seen here at ZoukOut 2008) has come up with a 90-minute set that has been transposed to an orchestral score for Just One More Time. (Photo: Aldrin Quek)
1. ZOUK OUT WITH AN ORCHESTRA
Perhaps you have considered partying into an orchestra’s audio? Well, there’s always a first time for every thing.
A throwback concert next week is celebrating its Jiak Kim Street times at a way, although iconic dance club Zouk might have already moved into a new home in Clarke Quay.
Instead of DJs carrying court, a occasion titled One More Time will feature a 48-piece orchestra performing a pair of Zouk staples.
Held at the iconic Capitol Theatre, which will be cleared to become one dance floor on March 24 and 25, the concert is the most recent production under theater company Dream Academy&rsquoexperimental stage The Henderson Project. Aside from the orchestra, there are guest vocalists and musicians which include X Rani Singam & rsquo;ho violinist Lynnette Seah Zouk resident percussionist M S Maniam, among others.
Basically a portrait of Zouk over the last quarter of a century has been that the brain child of Dream Academy’s her husband and Selena Tan John Pok. The couple had had seen a functionality in London by the Heritage Orchestra, which performed music by drum and bass music legend Goldie. When information of Zouk being sold and proceeded came they decided to push through with the project, roping in preceding Zouk resident DJ Aldrin Quek, a friend and collaborator.
Quek, ” the show’s artistic director, suggested they take the dance-meets-orchestra idea one step farther.
“” I believed it would be fun to make it like a DJ set where the audio is non-stop,&rdquo.
Tasked with constructing the tracks which music director and conductor Indra Ismail would later transcribes to an musical score — it was a undertaking for the DJ.
“We had to select the best of the best of the entire 25 years, but we also realised that not many might all have lived through it, and only a couple of us would know all of the music. So I had to take that under consideration,” stated Quek.
The show will not only require Zouksters down memory lane but even through the signature sounds of this club’s rooms, like the chill out songs at Wine Bar into the breakbeats and hip of Phuture.
The setlist contains rsquo & the show;s titular trail from Daft Punk, Faithless’ Insomnia and Ame’s Rej, but Quek desires the rest. As for almost any nods to Zouk’s most Mambo Jambo nighttime, he conceded that there’ll be a Fatboy Slim remix in there somewhere.
“I had to make certain that that the music flowed together concerning style musical keys and groove. We would like people to be more dance from the start,” he explained.
And also make sure there’s lots of them, too. While employing an orchestra is costly, organisers recently decided to slash costs for tickets on the dance floor department (aka “posh pit”) into S$88 to lure more audiences to get a appropriate party vibe. The cost change begins at 9pm on Thursday (March 16) on Sistic.
Meanwhile, the tasked with keeping the audio is that the music director in charge of the 48 musicians enjoying non-stop. Transposing dance music for the orchestra was the initial part — come show time, Indra Ismail are also right there at the thick of things, running the whole thing from begin to finish.
“To be truthful, I’m not sure I’m likely to sustain but I must! I’ve must visit the gym and be in good shape mentally and emotionally,” he quipped. “But I have to ensure that I have the support of everybody, particularly and enjoying” stated Indra.
Added Quek: “Plenty of dance music is all digital loops, drum or tune loops for a musician to play a hundred over pubs of exactly the exact same issue isn’t straightforward! I hope they get used to it. ”
Regardless of the physical challenges for the musicians, they assert to make it a memorable night with.
“rsquo & We;re still playing with house music using instrumentation,” said Indra. &ldquo what, for 90 minutes, it’s oomph oomph oomph all the way! ”
In 2015, The Observatory conducted Vibrational in France using 20 extra guitarists. This time around, they’ve roped in 30 of them for the NUS Arts Festival. (Photo: The Idealiste)
2. FEEL THAT 30-GUITAR ‘WALL OF SOUND’
For their second gig, Singapore experimental rock band The Observatory has roped to help create a gigantic “walls of noise&rdquo.
But throughout the band’s meeting with their youthful collaborators, they had to begin with some rock guitar principles — the necessity to actually possess a guitar strap.
“Some of them were sitting down because they didn’t even have any! ” recalled drummer-percussionist Cheryl Ong.
The show Vibrational, which will wrap up the continuing NUS Arts Festival 2017 on March 25, includes the band performing with members of the NUS Guitar Ensemble (GENUS) along with other student guitarists. It’s this show’s next iteration — together with all the guitar outfit Guitarkestra, the band performed in Toulouse, France along at 2015.
The Observatory will perform tracks from their albums August Is The Cruellest along with Oscilla. Their guitarist collaborators can come in for the composed titular tune as well as the next half to perform in a few of the songs. Helping out at the performance are band alumni, Dharma and guitarists Victor Low.
Rehearsals started in January, and it’s been a steep learning curve for those students, said keyboardist Vivian Wang.
“They all had guitar wallpapers, but a number of them had never played with with the guitar; re not enjoying standard tuning & rsquo; we and there’therefore these time signatures they must manage. But they’ve worked hard at it — we keep telling them to just loosen up, use your own ears and don’t rely about an score,” he explained.
It helped too that a number of the band members understood where the students were coming from. While direct vocalist-guitarist Leslie Low and musician Yuen Chee Wai learned that the “DIY” way, Wang and Ong are classically trained musicians.
“I arrived out of a conventional backdrop,” said Ong, who plays with classic music trio SA that was experimental. “When I look at them, ” I’m reminded of myself. I keep telling them that it & rsquo; s difficult to go beyond that barrier, but I let them let go and I understand their worries about following a score. ”
So can a “walls of noise” sound like?
“The first idea was really to earn a performance which you just don’t only hear concerning volume but you really feel it in your chest and tummy,” explained Wang, who cited other bands which have done something similar, like American guitarist Rhys Chatham along with his own 100-guitar orchestra.
She continued: “Envision six vibrating strings on one guitar; 34 guitars, which are different; that’s 204 strings vibrating and amplified, also drums and voice along with other items. It’s not about busting your ear buds; we wish to have an kind of sense in regards to noise. ”
The thought of using many guitars to create a layered sound experience was partly inspired by the band’s earlier experiments gamelan music, in which occasionally the very same notes have been tuned just a fraction apart, making a vibrating feeling called the “defeat frequency”.
Wang included: “It’s like a pantone chart where there’s not only one form of yellow or blue but a wide assortment of them — so when you playwith, you’re likely to get this richness of tone and noise, and you truly feel the vibrations. ”
The gamelan experiments also opened their own eyes (and ears) to the idea of “enjoying slightly off”, which they expect can also be observed in Vibrational.
“When you see a gig, you don’t even need a fantastic CD quality functionality right? You need to observe the musicians kind of teetering on the edge of falling apart, fighting to vibe with the crowd. (Vibrational) is a little bit like that,” said Wang, who disclosed it’ll also be their final show in a little while, as they take a hiatus to plan for their next album.
“rsquo & there; s things, such a wealthy wall of it and I believe when sound is imperfect. It’s likely to excite your own ears far more than the crafted concert you’ll be able to sip tea at. ”
Experimental piano collection LP Duo will be doing “hybrid pianos” which are plugged to a computer creating quantum mathematical equations – all for the listening enjoyment. (Photo: LP Duo)
3. LEARN QUANTUM MECHANICS WITH PIANOS
It’s not every day get a lecture on quantum physics like a bonus and you choose to see a piano concert.
But that’s exactly what you’ll get when you catch The Quantum Music Project (QMP), which will be held on March 21 and 22 as part of this continuing NUS Arts Festival 2017.
Belgrade pianist team LP Duo will be doing experimental bits while at exactly the exact same time, physicists will go up to explain the relationship between audio and quantum physics.
The Singapore concert is the under this distinctive project between scientists and musicians. It started in 2012, using sound engineer Dragan Novkovic and quantum physicist Vlatko Vedral thinking up of ways to flake and hang out outside “playing dolls and drinking beer,” quipped the prior.
Hitting upon the notion of a job that combined their two disciplines, LP Duo was roped in by them.
Bespite being rather daring and musicians themselves, the pianists admitted it took a while for them to get it.
“Dealing with laws of quantum physics? This was very hard to imagine in the start. But things like a particle in the instant in similar quantum phenomena or two areas are extremely inspirational to be shown through audio and sound,” stated LP Duo’s Sonja Loncar.
So what exactly is the link between classical music and also quantum physics?
“Math, physics and acoustics are areas where these meet very readily,” said LP Duo pianist Andrija Pavlovic.
“There were lots of experiments by several composers from the 1960s, but we’re carrying it a step forward. Play and we chose to make the audio of this 21st century, combining acoustic pianos using also and analog synths digital noises; whereas the physicists do simulations of the quantum sounds, which we then manipulate. ”
For the concert, each key in both grand pianos is attached to a detector, which feeds to a computer which alters the sound generated.
Even though QMP did something similar at the Keyboard Times Belgrade Festival this past year, the hybrid-pianos will be making their debut. (NUS Centre for Quantum Technologies’ Andrew Garner is also highly involved in QMP.)
Their show here is a dry-run for bigger things for the project. Back in September, a premiere of their multimedia show will be held at Copenhagen, which will then be followed with a Europe tour.
“And we really hope to have the ability to bring the entire show here in Singapore at 2018. That’s most one of our goals and such concerts are an essential step to generate something like this possible,” stated Novkovic.
So what if you’re a music lover who knows next to nothing? Don’t said Loncar.
“There is not any need to be prepared, because one of the aims for us is to exhibit the laws of quantum physics in a way that everyone can easily understand. ”
And if you believe they’re folk that is extreme and serious, well, there’s of them playing blindfolded a video floating around.
“because we wished to show our virtuosity This began at the same concert – but Dragan and Vlatko were inspired and discovered a link between that and the quantum world. Come and see the show! ”

Hi! I absolutely love your blog and a lot of the stories I've read have come as recs from you. I was wondering if you could help me out? I was reading a fanfic last night where Grimmrauld Place was upset with Harry for mistreating it and him and Draco fix it up. It was wonderful and I was wondering if you had any recs for more like it? I adore the idea of Harry and Draco not being friends at first and then bonding over a project like that. 💕
Sorry that it has taken me a while to respond, life caught me by surprised for a bit ^^’’
But aww, that’s so very sweet of you to say, oh my word, thank you!
Oh I remember that fic (and if anyone wants to read it you can find it here) and it was a rather nice one. I should probably have created a tag for enemies to lovers, since I do like those fics, but I just never did. So let’s see how many I can find, shall we?
All Life is Yours to Miss: Professor Malfoy’s world is contained, controlled, and as solitary as he can make it, but when an act of petty revenge goes horribly awry, he and his trusty six-legged friend are thrown into Hogwarts life at the deep end and must learn to live, love and let go.
All Our Secrets Laid Bare: Over the six years Draco Malfoy has been an Auror, four of his partners have turned up dead. Harry Potter is assigned as his newest partner to investigate just what is going on.
The Case of the Cherry Blossoms: If Hermione knows one thing, it’s that Harry needs to talk to her about what she thinks she knows. Harry knows something is afoot, and Ron knows that the breakfast situation is critical. HPDM and HGRW AU 7th-year fluffy!verse. Fairly daft.
Closing: Draco won’t ever give up. Won’t give up on making his fortune back, his ownership of the now deserted Malfoy Manor and certainly won’t give up on trying to stop Potter from selling Grimmauld Place.
The Conservation of Fame: Harry has peace at last under a spell that keeps people from remembering he’s the Chosen One, until Malfoy stumbles through his wards, pursued by mysterious enemies. Harry has to help him, and possibly bring his peace crashing down.
Cornucopia: When he receives an offer from Potter to restore the Black fortune, Draco is determined to ferret out the Git-Who-Lived’s real reasons.
Harmonized Consciousness: [NOW EDITED AND COMPLETE HPDM 8th Year EWE] This time it’s a spell gone wrong in Charms that will bring our two favourite boys together. Expect Mind-Magic Classic HD Clichés & Soul Mates
The Heart of the Manor: In his efforts to remove the taint Voldemort left on the Manor, Draco hires a team of Curse-Breakers. But what will happen when they stumble upon something older and more insidious than simple Dark magic?
In the Company of a Rubber Duck: War makes for strange bedfellows. However that doesn’t fully explain how Harry ended up sharing his bath with Draco Malfoy… nor why Malfoy was a rubber duck at the time.
Lonely Moon: More than a decade after the Battle, Harry returns to Hogwarts as a professor and discovers a student with a familiar face and an unexpected past. HPDM. Compliant with everything except DH epilogue.
measures of our days and nights: Draco returns to London to help the Ministry decipher a spell, but things aren’t quite as simple as they seem.
Nine Days’ Wonder: HPDM, mostly preslash. In which Harry is the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, and really not interested in Malfoy’s snippy little firecalls about Scorpius. Really. COMPLETE.
Now The Shining Sun Is Up: Epilogue, What Epilogue? About five years after the battle of Hogwarts. Someone at the Ministry has it in for former Death Eaters. Draco Malfoy launches his political career as a rebel. Harry thinks it’s all a laugh.
Of Love and Creatures: The Gryffindors and Slytherins become reluctant parents of a particularly feisty breed of magical creatures. Naturally, Harry and Draco are partnered together. Expect romance and chaos in equal measure. slash HD, RHr. PreHBP, now AU. COMPLETE!
On a Clear Day: Draco Malfoy is waiting for his real life to begin, and it appears that he’s not the only one. Coffee, charity, and the wisdom of the elderly. HPDM. Oneshot of epic proportions.
Rarely Pure and Never Simple: Harry never thought taking a job as Draco Malfoy’s bodyguard was going to be easy. Add in a curse that makes Malfoy even more of an obnoxious git than usual, and Harry’s got serious problems.
Second Chance: Of all the possible ways he could die Draco never would have thought a single olive would lead to his demise. But when he is offered a second chance at life he eagerly accepts. Too bad his second chance comes with an unexpected condition.
Sex on Legs in Six-Inch Heels: Draco Malfoy is a brilliant freelance cursebreaker and the only one who can help the Department of Magical Law Enforcement with a very dangerous case, but more importantly, he’s wearing six-inch heels, and Harry cannot handle it, he really just can’t.
Secrets: Beginning with Draco’s unexpected arrival at the Dursleys, Harry’s summer becomes filled with activity and many secrets. He generates several unexpected allies as he finds himself actively becoming the leader of the Light side. H/D post-HBP ~Complete~
Take the Air: Someone or something is attacking Muggles and leaving them for dead. Auror Harry Potter is assigned to the case, but with his usual partner unavailable, he is stuck with the most annoying Auror ever to walk the halls of the Ministry.
This Side of Me: Saving his mortal enemy in a moment of insanity Draco is suddenly labelled a hero. Floundering in a new life and hiding from Death Eaters with Harry he finds that his allegiance isn’t the only thing that’s changed DH COMPLETE
The Voldemort Manor: The Malfoy Manor is a state run museum, renamed The Voldemort Manor by the Ministry for Magic. As part of his probation, Draco is assigned as sole caretaker. When the Manor hosts a series of high class events celebrating the Wizarding World’s fourth Yuletide season Post War, it brings with it a swathe of people Draco hasn’t seen in years; including one, Harry Potter.
Welcome to the Real World: A Harry/Draco romance, set post-Hogwart’s in muggle London. Includes red mittens, linoleum, witty retorts, angst, love, dance clubs, strange friends, cooking shows, and coffee not necessarily in that order!
Most of these are Post-Hogwarts, just a warning. I hope some of these are what you are looking for and happy reading!
