How to Get Paid to Build Your Content Creator Channel
Most successful content creators are the ones who have created a reputation and identified their specialization. They then can attract viewers and make income from their videos. After you have a clear plan, create regularly to build your personal brand. Use these methods of monetization to expand your following and revenues: 1. Subscriptions
youtube
Subscriptions are a reliable income stream that allows content creators the ability to invest in the latest equipment software, equipment, and so on. It also allows them to enhance their services to the audience by offering content that is personalized, which is what customers are seeking. Memberships can also be a good method to boost customer retention and develop loyalty. Studio Bloom is a fitness subscription site for mothers-to-be which provides peer-to-peer support as well as premium workout videos as well as guides. The most effective subscription platforms for creators are unified flexible, scalable, and flexible solutions that include analytics and payment capabilities that allow them to develop a targeted audience and provide personalized experiences. Sute's monetization tool lets creators to tailor their subscription options, or pay-per-click content to suit the audience. 2. Donations Content creators can kickstart their revenues by donating a single amount. For instance, Streamlabs provides a tool that enables users to make a donation and also get a shoutout from their preferred streamers. Buy Me a Coffee and other platforms also offer the same functionality that allows fans to give back to their favorite influencers and creators within a couple of clicks. Some platforms also allow creators of content to earn regular revenue by offering gated or exclusive content. This is a fantastic opportunity to establish long-lasting relationships with your fans and create a regular stream of income. It is possible to manage subscriptions on platforms for membership like Patreon and Twitch as well as offer perks for different levels of membership. YouTube and TikTok creators utilize this method to earn money from their work. 3. Sponsorships Sponsorships can provide an additional revenue stream because they allow you to advertise products or services in your content. Sponsored content is a very popular method of advertising on YouTube. However it is also possible to find it on other platforms, like TikTok or Instagram. Sponsors pay for products portrayed in your videos. This can be a great method to earn money if you have a huge audience. Make a compelling thumbnail that will grab the interest of viewers and entice them to check out your video. An option to create content with a gated access is to create eBooks, tutorials and video consultations. This is a great method to establish trust and generate an income stream that is steady. 4. Affiliate Marketing When they're reviewing products or making "how-to" videos, content creators can make money from affiliate hyperlinks. Sign up for affiliate programs and include links in their content. They will then earn an income if people click on the link and buy those products. YouTubers, bloggers, as well as other online creators utilize this method to monetize their content. To maximize the revenue potential of this strategy to monetize your content, it's crucial to create content that provides value to your audience. You can do this by making high-quality videos and supplying relevant, helpful information. Live chats as well as Q&A sessions are an additional option to get your audience involved. This improves the loyalty of your viewers and they feel part of your community. This kind of interaction can help to build confidence in your viewers, which can lead to an increase in video views and longer viewing times. 5. Merch It's essential to learn how to monetize a channel in order to create content. Whichever strategy you use, building an audience requires time and energy. With the right strategy you can make an income from your videos. When making a video edit, focus on the narrative first. If the music overshadows the message, it might be a good idea to consider whether the music helps or detracts from the message. Avoid songs with copyrights; YouTube is becoming stricter on this. Be sure to make sure that the audio is balanced so that the voice doesn't get lost in video or camera movements that are shaky. If you follow these guidelines to edit your videos, you will be able to create content that keep your audience engaged and eager for more. Video by YouTube

On this day, 20 March 1946, a group of up to 10 homeless people, some of them World War II veterans, squatted the 20-room Maramanah mansion in King's Cross, Sydney, Australia. The building was owned by the local council and scheduled for demolition. One of the squatters told the Argus newspaper, “We have done everything to find a home, but it is hopeless, so we decided that this was the only way out". Over the next few days, more squatters joined them, until 11 families totalling 33 people moved in. After the occupation, the council agreed to keep the building open as a rooming house until 1954. The successful action helped spur a wave of squatting across the country which won housing for large numbers of people amidst the housing crisis at the time. My Patreon Is Now Open!
When I first started this blog in 2020, I had not expected to create as much content as I did, and I certainly didn’t expect to amass such an impressive following either. Soul-Controller has now soared past 2,100 followers and I cannot say thank you enough for all of the support you’ve given me. Writing these stories have provided me so much enjoyment, so thank you for continuing to support me as I pursue my passions in writing!
After talking with my fellow writer friends and receiving feedback from you guys via the two polls that I’ve created, it now seems like the perfect time to expand the blog beyond Tumblr and into another format: a Patreon site. Now if you’re worried about the blog becoming abandoned and S-C moving solely to Patreon, do not fret. I will still be keeping the blog updated often via original stories, collaboration stories, additional installments of previous series, and a return of request stories. On my Tumblr, I will never post sections of a Patreon-exclusive and require you to sign-up for my Patreon to read the remainder of it. Instead, I’ll do monthly summary posts that detail every story released during the previous month to inform a reader and allow them to make their own decisions about whether they’d like to support me to view this exclusive content. As you could probably guess, I’m quite excited about this move to Patreon as it will allow me to explore new concepts while getting a better chance to interact with and receive feedback from fans of my work.
So yes, starting today, Soul-Controller has now officially opened up a Patreon account! I’m quite excited about this new chapter, especially as it will allow me to create more interesting and experimental concepts without having to fear the Tumblr gods striking down my posts or trying to shadowban my blog. On this medium, I already have countless ideas planned including Patreon-exclusive series or spin-offs of stories already existing on my blog currently.
Now, for those still reading along, I’m sure that you’re curious about what my Patreon will offer. So, at this current moment there are four tiers offered. These tiers range in price between $5 a month to $30 a month, with each tier giving you a varying degree of rewards and Patreon-exclusive stories.
To explain further, here is some basic information about each tier:
Tumblr media
At $5, the Dunne tier will provide you with two Patreon-exclusive stories per month along with access to my own personal Discord server, the ability to vote on future stories and subjects, and photo caption transformations.
Tumblr media
At $10, the Torres tier includes four Patreon-exclusive stories per month along with Discord access, polls, and photo captions.
Tumblr media
At $15, the Clarke tier will provide you with six Patreon-exclusive stories per month along with occasional glimpses of future stories as I write them and all of the previously mentioned tier rewards.
Tumblr media
At $30, the Bumstead tier will provide any purchaser with a free request story of up to two-thousand words along with six Patreon-exclusive stories and all lower-level tier perks each month. My commission rate is $15 per 1k words, so this tier is quite valuable given the fact that you get a personalized two-thousand-word request story along with all of the extra Patreon content offered. Given my status as a college student though, this tier is limited to 3 patrons, so act fast if you’d like to purchase one!
If you’ve made it all the way through this post and find yourself interested in joining me on this new endeavor, please feel free to click the link below (or the hyperlink here) and join the Patreon today! For those who sign up, you’ll find that I’ve already released two stories on there to showcase my appreciation and support. One of these stories involves possession while the other involves muscle growth, weight gain, and muscle theft!

Podcasts you can Read
Looking through the podcasts in my subscription feed as well as ones I hear about most often to see if they have a transcript, how easy is it to find and access, and is it free (PS: if your transcript is behind a paywall, you’re the worst) All the transcript pages are hyperlinked to the podcast name if it exists and there is a collective location. The order is just the order in which I have listened to them recently, I’m just going through my podcast feed.  The access ranking has no reflection on the podcast, just how easy it was for me to find the transcript on the computer.
***I’m about to finish the semester, so I’m going to go through this list and revamp the criteria and also write up a google doc with the more organized list***
**This Is an Incomplete list of just the podcasts I have listened to, feel free to add your own or request me to do so through this form

Reposted from @workingclasshistory On this day, 28 December 1973, what some historians have referred to as the first strike in space took place on the Skylab 4 space station. The workers had a punishing work schedule, and mission commander Jerry Carr complained to ground control that "We would never work 16 hours a day for 84 straight days on the ground, and we should not be expected to do it here in space.” Pilot William Pogue said they wanted to have more time for contemplating the universe and "studying the stars, the Earth below, and ourselves". Carr eventually sent a wire to ground control stating "We need more time to rest. We need a schedule that is not so packed. We don’t want to exercise after a meal. We need to get things under control.” On December 28 the astronauts turned off their radios and spent the day relaxing, on personal projects and doing experiments at their own pace. After 24 hours, the controllers agreed a compromise which made the workload and mood of the last six weeks of the mission much more pleasant. * If you value the work we do researching and promoting people's history like this, consider supporting our work through 2021 by joining us on patreon. Once Again
We return. WicDiv is in the final stretch, and so is TWATD. The first of our two essays on #44, focusing on the issue’s echoes and callbacks. Spoilers – like oh so many spoilers – below the cut.
Tumblr media
Alex: Remember issue #14 of The Wicked + The Divine? The Woden remix issue? I reckon, with a bit of ingenuity, you could use the same method – cutting up panels from elsewhere in the series, pasting them in new contexts – to make a fan edit of #44, front to back.
The issue is crammed tight with echoes of old images. It put me in mind of Avengers: Endgame, the way it’s constantly calling back to moments from the past twenty-one movies, and the criticism of that tendency as ‘fan service’.
In WicDiv, this echoing feels inevitable. The series has always had its repeating motifs. Going  back to the very first issue, we get a whole host of phrases we’ll be seeing over and over: “Once again, we return.” 1-2-3-4. “I’ll miss you.” “Don’t.” Kllk. And images, too – from that very first cover, with its carefully-framed headshot echoed on the first page inside, something the first arc plays with again and again.
But what is the purpose of it, other than reminding us of something we’ve seen and loved in the past?
Tumblr media
To answer that, let’s look at some specific examples – beginning, as the issue does, with Lucifer. From the very first panel of her, stood in a variation on her classic power pose, Luci is pretty much playing the Greatest Hits here. She lights a cigarette on her own inferno, holding a familiar eyebrow-cocked expression. She teases a finger-click, taking us back to the courtroom. Her threat of violence to Laura, framed side-on, recalls Lucifer’s murder in issue #5, and Ananke’s millennia of practice for that moment as seen in #36.
Lucifer wraps herself in motifs and echoes possibly more than any other character this issue, and it feels like armour. She’s the one member of the Pantheon clinging on to the lie of godhood, playing her role because it protects her from the consequences of what she’s done. She’s perpetuating Ananke’s cycle, and so she reaches for the easy iconograpy, the tropes, of the Lucifer myth.
It’s worth noting that most of these images are inverted. In that last example, Lucifer stays on the same side of the panel, but switches her role, from victim to the position of power. Even the colours of her outfit are flipped – white to black, blue to red – and her pose too, with arms up rather than down. Tim is going to be exploring the Two Girls in Hell sequence in his essay, so I won’t go too deep on that, except to point out that when Laura saves Luci, it’s by taking Ananke’s “I’ve missed you” and making it sincere.
Tumblr media
#44 does this over and over, taking a familiar motif and inverting the meaning. We’ve heard a lot of variations on “it’s okay”. Minerva, begging Ananke to tell her it’s going to be okay, a conversation we’ve likely all had with ourselves at some point. Its answer at the end of that arc, laid out in black and white: “It was never going to be okay.”
Here, it’s Dionysus who wields the phrase, and for the first time “it’s okay” isn’t a lie. Dio isn’t pretending that death won’t come for us all, or that Minerva’s situation is anything less than fucked. Instead, he’s encouraging her not to fear the inevitable. He isn’t offering denial, but acceptance.
Tumblr media
Then there’s the other character interaction Minerva has this issue, which inverts something familiar in a much uglier way – her relationship with Baal. Time and time again, we’ve seen Baal wrap his arms around Minerva’s tiny frame. It’s indicative of the role he thought he played in her life, somewhere between bigger brother and father figure, but he now knows this was just a way of manipulating him.
In #44, Baal takes Minerva in his arms one last time, with very different intent. That big hand, able to cup her entire head, used to comfort or protect her, is used instead to smother. That tight embrace becomes a murder weapon. The contrast turns what could be a triumphant moment – this is the defeat of WicDiv’s big bad, after all – into an unsettling one.
Tumblr media
Of course, it wasn’t much better the last time WicDiv’s big bad got taken out, as #44 is ready to remind us. The issues it draws from more than any other are the series’ first, and its midpoint. #22 and #44 are both stories about what happens when you beat the minions and get to the dark lord in their tower to find them helpless.
Here the repeated image – Laura with arm outstretched weighing up whether to kill the villain – acts as a kind of mental hyperlink. We’ve been here before. Twice before, in fact, just a couple of issues apart. (The second also introduced the idea of Woden’s kill-switch video release, which is vitally important to where this issue ends up.)
Both times, Laura hesitated – and then acted anyway. Our expectations are primed for the same thing to happen again. But, as any comedian will tell you, you set up pattern on the first and the second beat, then break it on the third.
Tumblr media
This time, Laura hesitates – and is talked down. We see how much she’s grown as a character, because she’s put in the exact same situation, right down to the composition of the image and the people around her – Cassandra always hovers over her shoulder like a goth Jiminy Cricket – but the outcome is different.
I’ve mentioned fan service already, but there’s an alternative term I’ve been skirting around: payoff. A good final chapter (depending on how you view the epilogue) should bring together the threads of the story up to that point. That’s as true of WicDiv as it is of Endgame, as it is of a Dickens novel.
I do still worry about accessibility – how much of this comes across if you’ve only read each issue once, like a normal person – but maybe that’s not giving enough credit to the fantastic work of Jamie McKelvie + Matt Wilson making these images so immediately iconic, so mentally sticky, that you can recognise their vague outline five years later. As Tim suggested when I raised this question, these connections are likely kicking around in the subconscious of a more casual reader, even if they couldn’t put together the full serial-killer wall I’m making here.
There’s another thing, too. The fact that all these echoes are backing up feels indicative of what Laura is trying to do: breaking the cycle. Ananke’s six millennia-long plan is in its death throes, and this is one final twitch. Over and over, the issue shows that while the circumstances and tools might be the same, intent can change the meaning and outcome.
I suspect we’ll be free of echoes next issue, for the first time. I wonder if I’ll miss them.

The snow fell wet and heavy the entire drive down as you and Bucky traded stories of Christmas traditions and winter stories from your pasts. Your childhood home sat not quite in the city limits of Philly, but just outside in a small suburb. All the while in the back of his mind Tony’s advice lingered. He smiled watching as you sung along to the road trip playlist you had put together, tailored specifically for the two of you as the drive flew by all too fast for him. As you drove through the small town you pointed out to him the school you went to before you got your powers, and THE BEST sledding hill, and all the things about a small quiet town that you found yourself missing from time to time.
“So Doll,” you felt your heart tighten just a bit, you were beginning to like when he called you that. ”what did your mom say when you told her who you were bringing?”
“I didn’t.” You answered as you pulled onto a street lined with pine trees. “If there is one thing I’ve learned throughout my life when it comes to my mother it is that it is better to ask forgiveness then beg permission.”
Bucky peered out the frosted window of the car as you pulled into a long driveway to a split leveled home covered in snow, waiting for decorations for the season that hasn’t been touched in years. Behind the screen door he could barely make out the shape of a woman watching, waiting eagerly for you. How sweet! Maybe everything he’s heard about the two women who live there was all exaggeration...Afterall, what parent in their right might would like their daughter hanging out with the likes of Tony Stark anyway? Inside where it was warm your mother bounced up and down a little too excited to see the mystery guy you were bringing home. She figured out weeks ago that it MUST be Tony... she knew you moved in with him months ago. Watching the car pull to a stop she rushed out to hug you, instantly taking note of the figure emerging from the side door to load strong arms up with colorfully wrapped boxes.
“(Y/N)! I’m so glad you’re home! We saw you on the news at that mutant party and congress! So proud of my little girl!” You blinked surprised, last you heard from her just about everything about your lifestyle was immoral and wrong. Amazing the difference success makes. “Is that Tony Stark!?” She whispered hugging her daughter tight before rushing to take some of the gifts from him so she could see who was behind. Bucky half smiled to the woman who looked like a very much less colorful version of her daughter, in the back of his mind wondering if this is what she would have looked like if she wasn’t dipped in rainbows by nature.
“Actually that’s Bucky...my boyfriend.” You held out your arms as you gave a wavering smile, seeing that she was less than thrilled to see the face of the Winter Soldier. “Surprise!” This was a terrible plan!
“No. It’s bad enough that you refuse to act like a normal daughter. Go on national television and tell everyone that you just staged a jailbreak...refuse to dye your hair a normal color...” Your mother scolded as she set the gifts down inside before block the door as if Bucky couldn’t just lift her out of the way if he chose to. “I’ve forgiven all of that but this, young lady, is where I draw the line! This is my house and I am not letting this killer inside of it.” Bucky’s face grew hard as he watched your heart break at the harsh words she had for you, pulling you in close, to stroke your hair. Crystal blue eyes grew steely as he looked up to her, seeing what Tony was talking about. What she said about him he didn’t really care about, in his mind those words were all true...but for a mother to speak so harshly about their only daughter...
“Actually Shirley this is my house and I want to see my granddaughter.” Your Nana interjected from inside as her feeble bones worked her old body to stand. “Who does she have with her?” Your mom reminded your Nana about the Winter Soldier and all the terrible things he’s done on the news in the last few years.
“It’s not his fault!” You argued, every bit of you growing red with anger. “And he was granted a formal pardon! He was brainwashed! According the the Supreme Court James Buchanan Barnes had about as much say in doing what he did as I did in being a mutant.”
Nana stood up strait hearing the name. She lived through the war, she remembered the news reels. “Shirley you move yourself from that door right now and show Sergeant Barnes some respect. I may be old but I’ll never be too old to crack you one. That man saved your father’s life in the war. If it wasn’t for him you wouldn’t be. Now move.”
Inside the air smelled of cookies and pies of all different varieties. From the door he could see straight into the kitchen to an old woman creating the source of the smell as she pulled a fresh batch of sugar cookies from the oven. Her silvered hair was pinned neatly back in a style reminiscent of the 40s, and her clothing matched.
“Thank you ma’am.” Bucky smiled politely up to Nana as you both made your way inside, dropping your luggage at the door for now. Looking at the small woman Tony’s warnings echoed in the back of his mind, ‘the little old lady is the worst.’...how? She seemed so sweet.
“Nana, I thought you always said that Captain America saved Papa?” You asked in a whisper as you gave her a hug, all she replied with was a ‘shhh’ and a feeble pat to the side of your head. “Come on Bucky, my room’s upstairs.” You said with a smile, wiping the hint of tears from your eyes as you grabbed your bags. As you both traversed the stairs your mom and Nana looked to each other, concern all over their faces.
~ ~ ~ ~
Bucky couldn’t help but smile at the old house, spotting elements of a time long passed held onto by your Nana as he followed you up the stairs. The stairwell was lined with pictures of you throughout your younger years...huh, so that was what color your hair was before you changed...But never anything after, no rainbow splendor. “Why aren’t there any recent pictures?” He asked absentmindedly as he followed up to what was once your room, untouched since the last time you came home for a visit. The walls looked to be wallpapered in sheet music, he couldn’t think of anything else more fitting for your room than that. Upon closer inspection he realized, however, it was not some random spattering of pages. It looked to be new ontop of old...something your dad had started when you were a baby by covering the walls in the greatest of classical composers, from there it built up as you aged.  With a huff you set down your things before flopping yourself onto the bed pushing the rainbow mess from your face. Your eyes darted out the window watching flecks of snow dance to the ground until the thought hit you….
You let your hands hover over your head as you listened...The nice thing about your room was it sat right above the kitchen, with an air vent close to your bed giving you access to all the amazing smells from below, and the sounds of both your parents working below. “MOM!” You shouted downward, “WHY ISN’T THERE THE TREE UP YET?” You of course were referring to the reusable one the family had gotten when you were a kid.
“BECAUSE A RACCOON GOT INTO THE ATTIC AND ITS RUINED” She answered.
“We can go get one if you had your heart set on it Doll. I don’t mind driving if you tell me where to go.” You afterall, did drive all the way from New York.
“That sounds great Buck.” You said as you looked up to him with a soft smile that tugged at his heart.

Posted @withrepost • @workingclasshistory On this day, 9 December 1984, Mexican revolutionary fighter Amelio Robles Ávila died in his home town of Xochipala, Guerrero, aged 95. Assigned female at birth, Ávila joined the turbulent events of the revolution in 1912, and his first mission was to extort funds from oil companies to fund the revolutionary movement. He fought in the army of Emiliano Zapata and reached the rank of colonel. He was famous for shooting his pistol with his right hand while holding a cigar in his left, and he was himself shot at least six times. In 1924 he declared his identity as male, was recognised as such by the military, and was later recognised as the first transgender veteran in the Mexican army. Ávila forged a male birth certificate, and insisted he be recognised as male for his next seven decades. Mexican historian Gabriela Cano explains that Ávila's gender identity "must be distinguished from the strategic cross-dressing – the adoption of masculine outfits to pass as a man – that some women employed in periods of war to protect themselves from sexual violence that is usually more acute during armed conflict, to access military leadership positions or simply to fight as soldiers and not as soldaderas, that is to say, without the social gender restrictions that usually weigh on women in the military". According to rumour, on one occasion Ávila was assaulted by men who tried to inspect his anatomy, and in defending himself two of the attackers were killed. A neighbour later recounted how Ávila would challenge anyone who misgendered him: "I always called him Mr. Robles, because he’d pull out his gun if someone called him a woman or Mrs.” After his death, Mexican institutions began to undermine his identity. A rumour began that he had requested to be buried in women's clothes, and a school and museum were named after his dead (i.e. christened) name. TSA_PDF 008: Not Made for This curated by Li-Ming Hu August 16 - 31
Tiger Strikes Asteroid is pleased to present TSA_PDF 008: Not Made for This, curated by Li-Ming Hu. This printable exhibition features work by Maryam Faridani, Chelsea A. Flowers, Jack Hogan, Zachary Hutchinson, Natasha Matila-Smith, and Daphne Simons. How to condense thousands of frames into a single image on an 8 1⁄2 x 11 sheet of paper? Or even into 24, as Maryam has done? Is such a thing worth doing? Which screenshot to choose? Which piece of text most accurately conveys the spirit of the work? (The hyperlinks really work if you click on them.) Do you need the sound of Chelsea A. and her companion’s wordless laughter? Or to know that Jack’s piece is as concerned with cartography as it is with cows? Or that Zach’s is for a video she hasn’t made yet? Or that those leather chaps (if you can tell that’s what they are) that Daphne made move across the screen with no legs in them? And that, *spoiler alert*, Natasha does not, for the duration, get out of bed?
Maybe it’s all in the print and hang. And those hyperlinks you get if you buy the show.
TSA_PDF is a series of printable exhibitions curated by Tiger Strikes Asteroid. People are invited to download and print these works on their home printers and share their “install shots,” which we will share on social media and our website. We view these exhibitions as a fun, experimental way to bring something physical and meaningful into people’s homes as they socially distance.
To access the PDF to print, you can:
1) Pay-what-you-wish at PayPal.Me/TigerStrikesAsteroid . 100% of the proceeds will be split between the artists and Artist Relief.
2) Our existing and new Patreon subscribers also get access to this and all future PDF exhibitions for free. Become a patron at patreon.com/tigerstrikesasteroid

On this day, 28 December 1973, the first strike ever in space took place when three astronauts on the Skylab 4 space station mutinied. The workers, including Col William Pogue demanded more time for contemplating the universe and in Pogue's words "studying the, the Earth below, and ourselves". After 24 hours, the controllers agreed a compromise which made the mood of the last six weeks of the mission much more pleasant. True Colors Chapter 1
A/N: This was written before Infinity War came out. Screw Bucky being kept in Wakanda, I never liked that ending anyway.
Normally I would post this on Wednesdays but I just couldn't wait to get this one out! You can expect regular updates with this every Wednesday or if you cant wait every Sunday on Patreon link below.
The summer heat beat down on the city as thick storm clouds brewed teasing the idea of rain to break the hot spell that had taken New York hostage. Outside protesters stood at every corner with signs inscribed with “Free the Heroes” “Cap didn't get iced for this” and “Hawkeye is NOT a target”. Unlike in other cities there was no shouting and screaming for their release...that wasn’t what needed to change, it was the law. In the center of the group you sat, their rainbow haired leader with your beloved guitar belting out a strong song showing the public’s solidarity with the heroes and how much the world needs them as everyone sang along with you in protest. The job didn’t pay, but it was a cause you whole-heartedly believed in… You didn’t mean to become a political activist, you didn’t wake up one morning and say “I’m going to try to change the world.” But you did stand out, and the songs you wrote  resonated with anti-accords and pro-mutant rights themes...and that certainly was no accident. Too bad changing the world didn’t pay the bills… but for that there were the parties you would DJ for at night, and tonight you were lined up to work for one of your closest friends and most loyal of clients...Tony Stark himself.
~ ~ ~ ~
Late in the night music raged as the mist of fog machines mixed with air conditioning working its hardest to keep far too many cool as they moved to an unrelenting techno-beat provided by none other than you. Rainbow tendrils whipped past your eyes as you bobbed back and forth to the sounds you were creating. Stark had always been one of your main sources of business...the man did love a good party. But this one he had to beg you to take, only agreeing to it once he promised to work on getting the accords revoked. Drinks flowed freely as those legally able to call themselves Avengers blew off some steam...well, all except for Vision, who was standing in the corner rather stagnantly, not sure of the purpose of this activity, nor what to do.
~ ~ ~ ~
“So, Tony, didn’t you say the whole ‘team’ was going to be here?” You asked with a smirk, giving the word team some air-quotes as you packed up your mixing board, all the guests now long gone. “Where’s that spider guy I saw on the news? He looked so…” You paused nibbling at your lower lip with a sinful grin, thinking about the best way to describe what you saw. Tight? Muscular? Nah, don’t want to sound like a slut...“Acrobatic.”
“Oh Spider-ling? Umm that depends...would you happen to know if the school year goes this late into June?” Tony answered with a smirk.
“You mean he’s…?”
“Fifteen.” Your face lost all color as Tony chortled at the way your foot fit so perfectly in your mouth without you even trying.
“Ew...ok no to the spider-boy.” You finally laughed off the idea with him, guess you never know who’s under those masks these days. “Pizza and booze?”
“Right this way.” He answered with a chuckle, he sure as hell wasn’t letting this one go for a long while.
Drinks firmly in hand you sunk into the couch in the common area. “So what about everyone else?” It was obvious you were referring to the Avengers who didn’t sign the accords, those on Cap’s side. He knew how you spent your days, hell, you mixed in a few of the songs you had recorded about the issue tonight as a not so subtle reminder.
“Yeah, I’m still working on it...But I’m going to get them out.”
“Out? Out of where?” And there was the face, a rare one that you learned after years of friendship with Tony, you had hit a sore spot he didn’t want to discuss. “Okay,” you paused handing him his drink. “Never have I ever worked for Stark Industries.” The tradition had started long before you worked on the party scene, when you were still DJing clubs to make ends meet and maybe get your songs noticed...though Tony did notice your talent he didn’t have the means to get you that recording contract you yearned for...But after a night of the game he had decided he liked you enough to hire you for all functions he’d have and at least that got your foot into most high profile parties in the city. From there the game just kept going.
Tony let out a breath of a laugh taking a drink. “You used that one before, drink up.”
Hours passed as Natasha T’challa and Rhodey joined you in your long standing game with your old friend.
“Okay. Let me think.” T’challa let out a bourbon scented breath as he searched his mind.
“No thinking just go!” You retaliated as you threw a handful of popcorn in his general direction.
“Alright alright,” he chuckled, “never have I ever colored my hair.” As the words left his mouth everyone looked around to see who was now forced to drink.
Soon all eyes were on you as everyone waited for the bottle to touch your lips yet it stayed firmly on the table. “What? I haven’t!” You assured everyone as you propped your feet up on the couch. Even in your inebriated state you knew the conversation this was going to generate...might as well get comfortable.
“Oh come on! How are you even going to pretend that’s natural?” Rhodey asked pointing to the rainbow that now sat in a loose braid to keep out of your eyes.
“Ummmmm… Well, for starters…” You trailed off as you focused your mind on the colors in your hair. They all watched as they shifted and changed from your usual cascading rainbow to a soft blond then back to as it once was. “Did seriously no one notice that there were colored lights despite me not bringing a lighting rig?” You chuckled before explaining that you are in fact a mutant, and colors are your main game.
“Oh my god you’re a mutant!” Tony leaned forward with shock and intrigue, and just a little upset at himself for letting this slip by him for all the years you’ve known each other. “What else can you do?”
With a sigh  you reached into your bag, pulling out the a t-shirt that you had planned on wearing home, pulling it over your head to cover the rainbow bikini top you had been performing in, suddenly feeling a bit exposed now that your secret was out…
“Officially I’m classified as a Photokinetic… But my training was mostly in chronokinesis. Bending light changing colors… That sort of thing. But I do have this thing they taught me, I call it a prism blast. Basically I can focus light into a super concentrated high heat rainbow beam, and well...You ever burnt ants with a magnifying glass before? Kinda like that.”
“Wait? Your training?” Natasha asked, rather curious where you would have trained for this.
You nodded. “Upstate there’s a school for people like me. You heard of the X-men?” A few of the group nodded. “That’s their base. I trained under them.”
“Do you think you could make someone invisible?” Tony asked as he sat forward with that smirk that told you he had a plan brewing.
“Oh, easily!”
Tony’s smirk grew into a smile dancing along his lips. “Still want to meet Captain Rogers?”

True Colors Chapter 11
You could hear the whispers of the locals as you paced through the lot of trees, taking in the smell of the sap and needles, your hand cradled snuggly in his just incase you ran into any of the neighbors...they all loved to gossip. All the while you pushed the thought of how well your fingers fit together into the furthest corner of your mind. Bucky, however was watching you more than the trees you were supposed to be picking one from, he loved how your eyes lit up at the ones you found promising.
“Thanks for this Buck. I don’t think we had a real tree in that house since I was maybe five..” As you spoke his fingers slipped from yours, the arm finding its way around your shoulder to keep you warm against his body.
“If it keeps you happy Doll.” He remarked with a smile, giving your chin a small pinch with his metalic hand. The brisk feel of the metal sent chills down your spine, fogging your brain with...feelings? Nah, it’s just Bucky, can’t be. “So do you see one you like?”
“That one.” You proclaimed pointing to the best one in proximity, trying your best to ignore the sensations being so close to him gave you, sure they will pass.
~ ~ ~ ~
Once the tree was home and up you lead him up to the attic. Remnants of your old studio could be seen in the dust riddled room that had long ago been dominated for storage use in your absence. You didn’t really mind though, you had much better back in New York now. Off in the corner was a big box labeled X-mas, torn and tattered tape barely keeping the box together.
“Mom, I know...but that’s how the kids wear their hair now.” You heard echoing from the lower floors of the home as you brought the decorations down, an old santa cap inside the box caught your eye. Bucky followed with one of his own, watching the once vibrant shades in your hair become muted and dull as you stopped in the middle of the stairs, biting your lower lip hearing your mother’s voice.
“And all that metal in her face…” Your nana’s old voice wabbled up the stairs prompting you to play with the ball of your piercing down there. “She’ll never amount to anything as long a-” You spun around reaching into the box to pull out the hat, slipping it over his head, the white puffball dangling in his face. Red was definitely his color. You both took a moment to smile before noticing the plastic sprig of mistletoe clinging to the fluff of the pompom. With a soft chortle you lifted yourself up on your toes. Bucky’s heart raced as he watched you inch closer and closer until your hand came to his face. As his arm reached out to pull you in he felt the slight tug of you removing the decoration.
“There, that’s better.” You smiled before taking his hand to lead him into the livingroom to attempt to tolerate your family.
~ ~ ~ ~
On the stove sat a kettle of homemade hot chocolate, filling the house with the heavenly smell. “You know Darling, your mother just doesn’t understand.” Nana explained as she showed you once again how to make the family cookie recipe. Showing you how to make them had become just as much of a tradition as eating them. “And to be honest I don’t understand either. After your father-” She waved her hand not wanting to talk about his death. “You just color your hair like a parrot and run off to New York...barely in your teens...You hurt her (Y/N).”
You rolled your eyes at the old woman’s ignorance, trying to be fair, knowing that her generation probably never heard of mutants…the times they are a-changin’. “Nana, you know that’s not true. I would have stayed if it was safe.” You sighed looking up to see Bucky through the door  building a fire in the livingroom, forgoing the usual tools, just using his hand to turn the wood, not like it would hurt the metal.... “And I always come back, just like I promised.”
“Well why don’t you get yourself a real job instead of playing around with that noise you call music? Then you can come see us on actual holidays.” The backhanded jab at your profession choice stung as you bit your lower lip, trying so hard to keep everything inside. “If you would just get rid of all that color,” she waved her hand around your head to indicate your hair, “you could get a real job.” And now it really felt like the holidays for you.
“Okay Nana, as much as I’ve enjoyed this talk,” the clock on the wall chimed, “ABC is showing the Christmas Classics today and Bucky’s never seen them.” You dusted off your hands,  grabbed 2 mugs and helped yourself before going to collect your soldier. “Come on Buck, time to learn about Christmas!”
Bucky looked up to you with a warm smile and just like that all the aggravation and headache your family caused you just melted right away as he stood. His strong fingers brushed against yours as he took the mug sending that chill down your spine again. “Doll you know I've had Christmas before. I happen to actually like Christmas. Spending time with those you lo-really care a lot about… you know we had Christmas back in the 40s right?”
You just stood there watching him for a moment in the sparkling light of the falling snow and the fire. The afternoon sun through the window causing the blue of his eyes to shine like you never could see in the city as he took his first sip of one of the only family recipes you were ever able to recreate. Shaking your head you perked yourself right back into your usual hyperactive self. “DID IT INCLUDE THE GRINCH? SNOOPY? I THINK NOT. Now hurry up! Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town is on first and I don’t want you to miss it!.”
Nana watched from the kitchen, shaking her head disapprovingly at the bionic arm. “You know mom, I’d be willing to bet that arm is the only reason she’s even interested in a monster like that.” Your mom muttered as she sat down, taking your place at the kitchen table to finish up the deserts you abandoned. Bucky paused for a moment at the stairs by the kitchen, the gears of his left arm whirring as his fist clenched, trying his best to push the comments out of his mind before heading down into the den. “Why couldn’t she have brought home Tony?” Yep. he definitely didn’t like that woman.
“I’m sorry Buck. I should have thought about how they would have reacted. Hell, it might have been easier if I just told her that there isn't a boyfriend because the last guy turned her daughter off of the whole idea of dating.” You sighed as you turned on the TV, snuggling into his chest on the couch just incase either of the two decided to come down and apologize to him...now that would be a christmas miracle. “I don’t know why I thought this year would be any different.” Bucky’s bionic arm wrapped around your waist as he pulled an afghan over the two of you. “You are seriously my new best friend for putting up with this shit.”
“Hey, it’s alright Doll.” His lips came down to your forehead as his arms wrapped tightly around you. “You think I’m not used to comments like that by now? Besides, at least now you have some moral support to get you through the trip.” With a half smile you let the words comfort you, melting into into the warmth of his body as Bucky recognized the voice of the narrator as Fred Astaire, bringing a nostalgic smile to his lips, seeing why you didn’t want him to miss it. He knew this was why he was tagging along, he knew you would have needed him. He just hoped that his plan of shut the hell up and take it was the right one. As you sat there silently watching the parts of your childhood that Bucky missed out on he became well aware of how close you two were, the feel of each breath you took against his chest as his fingers absentmindedly trailed against the curve of your waist, back and forth as you listened to his heart beat faster and faster. Though he tried to keep his mind on the movies all he could think about was how good you smelled. And as Rudolph sang about how much of a misfit he was Bucky’s mind began to race, questioning this friendship and if it should go further? If it ever even could? It would seem, as many times before, Tony had succeeded in getting under Bucky’s skin.

True Colors Chapter 2
After all these years you couldn’t believe your old uniform still fit...sure it was a little snug in some areas, but hey, you weren’t exactly in highschool anymore, what else did you expect? You could feel your heart pounding in your chest and your stomach flipping as you paced the floor of the tower, waiting for the living legend himself...Captain America. You never planned on this being your life, you never WANTED to be a superhero...but when Steve Rogers needs help with something how exactly could anyone say no? Besides, you were all for this free the heroes movement going on, and for good reason. You’ve seen all this before, lived this all before. The Sokovia Accords was just the Mutant Registration Act 2.0. Too bad you didn’t hold enough sway to actually speak up about it to anyone who really mattered.
“Alright Tony, what is it you wanted to talk about?” You heard echoing through the hall as the star spangled man himself entered the room. You stood with your back as straight as you could make it, holding your breath without realizing.
“Steve, I would like to introduce to you a long time friend of mine.” He gestured to you. “This is (Y/N).” You both watched as Steve folded his arms and quirked a brow. “Look, I know I was in the wrong...Let the two of us at least help make things as right as we can.”
Your heart stopped as Steve’s blue eyes looked over you. In the back of your mind you knew this was one of those life changing moments. “No offence ma’am, but you don’t exactly look combat ready.”
The corners of your lips tugged downward as you looked over yourself. “I don’t think I see what you mean Captain. This suit was designed by someone arguably smarter than Mr. ‘Too many character flaws to be considered a hero’ over here. Lined with nacre...I’m probably more combat ready than half of your team was.” You watched Tony’s brow rise when you mentioned the material as he began poking at the iridescent patches of armor wondering just how they were able to make it flexible enough to wear as a suit yet as strong as you boasted.
“I admire your intentions here ma’am, but having a fancy suit doesn’t mean you’re ready to head into a battle.” Steve’s ocean blue eyes stared into you then over to Tony. “Some of us learned that the hard way. How is Rhodey anyway?”
“Well, making a nice recovery with the help of some of my genius.” And then what you said finally clicked in his brain. “And wait a minute! Who exactly are you hanging out with that is smarter than me?” You couldn’t help but chuckle, letting him stew in that question as long as possible.
“This isn’t funny! And it isn’t a game!” Cap scolded, his eyes growing harsher. “Tony they are in that oceanic hell hole because of you. I’m not going to allow you to send in some untrained girl just because she’s been outfitted with new tech. Especially with the Accords still in place. Breaking them once they are signed is just as bad as not signing them at all.”
“Okay, first of all...From what I’ve been hearing in the mutant community, this,” you tugged at the material you wore, “is actually old news. Second,” you paused letting your hands glow hot and bright, “yes I said I’m a mutant,” that fact didn’t seem to phase him, “and I’ve been trained by some of the best.” Finished showing off you let the glow die down as you bent the light in the room around you to demonstrate exactly why you were brought on for this mission. Fully concealed from sight you stepped around Cap as he searched the room for any trace of you. “The great thing about light is that it pretty much controls everything we see. You want to get into that base undetected, I’m pretty much the best chance that you’ve got.” You paused as you reappeared behind him. “Oh, and who ever said I signed the Accords? I’ll be going in rogue just like you. And once everyone is out I’ll be helping you keep it that way.” You watched as a boyish smile crept onto Steve’s face. He had to admit that this did seem like a pretty bulletproof plan. Of course that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to take a moment to consider all of the pros and cons before finally agreeing.
~ ~ ~ ~
The plan was simple, and went over well. With your talents you and Steve remained out of sight as you both worked your way through the highest of high security prisons. It was too bad the bubble of where your powers of light bending for the sake of invisibility was so small...years of being out of practice...You made a mental note to work on that. But it did mean that as the two of you got to the final floor while you were busy being the unseen force beating on the poor defenseless security guards Steve moving closer to the cells brought him into full view. But at least by the time this happened the only ones left conscious was the ones you were here to rescue.
“So where’s your friend?” You asked letting the cloak of invisibility down.
“Well that’s a cool trick.” Clint muttered as he watched the rescue.
“Not...here…” Steve answered sounding more than a bit concerned for Bucky’s safety.
“He’s in there.” Clint offered as he pointed to a door on the other side of the room. “Been keeping him on ice.”
“(Y/N), will that light thing you do work on that?” Steve asked as the two of you make quick work of opening the cell doors. “I doubt they made it as easy as just press this button.” As he spoke you began to wonder if the charm of that smile was a 40s thing or something unique to only Steve Rogers.
“Yeah,” you nodded, “well, umm I can try I suppose. I never tried using it like that before.” You made your way into the room looking around, praying that there would just be a button that said ‘press me to thaw out the walking communist weapon.’...There wasn’t one. Plenty of little buttons you’d apparently have to push in just the right order to start the thawing process the safe way. Looks like it was all up to Light Girl….no, that’s a terrible superhero name...Rainbow Girl? Nah that one’s taken...something for you to work on later. Everyone seemed to hover over you as you concentrate the light finding just the right wavelength to bring the Winter Soldier back to life, but you knew you had to be careful, go slow and test the frequency of the light waves over his prosthetic first for less of a chance to hurt him. “This could take a while...maybe get the exit plan going while we wait?” You suggested, feeling rather uncomfortable with everyone looming over you like that. The eventual move of metal fingers was definitely a promising sign that you weren’t actually killing the poor guy. Ice fell from metal in chunks before finally the soldier burst free, metal hand clamping tightly around your neck.
“Who are you? What do you want?” He growled, icy eyes digging into your soul as you gasped for air.
“I…” you gagged, “I’m with Steve.” The bitter sting of metallic fingers one by one released you, letting the air once again reach your lungs...You heard rumors of his strength...never thought you would experience it first hand. “Wonderful way to thank someone.” You half scolded as you gulped in sweet sweet air. “Come on, he’s upstairs.” You added with a bitter tone as you rubbed your neck, feeling the bruises already beginning to form where he gripped you.

Blind Date Chapter 8
Matt found a strange comfort in the way the snow crunched under the wheels of the car, still a few miles from the house. You watched him from the corner of your eye gripping his cane tightly, something by now you have found meant something was bothering him. “What's wrong babe? Is it your ribs?” You asked with a touch of worry.
“Oh no sweetie I'm fine. Claire said I should be fighting fit by New Years.” He answered with a slightly strained smile. “Promise I'll get a new suit from Melvin before I go after Fisk again.”
“Then why are you trying to make an imprint of your cane in your palms?” You asked as you reached a hand over to his, gently guiding the cane down.
“Sweetie...I love you so much but Samhain-”
“Is nothing like Yule.” You interrupted in a comforting voice. “Here,” you reached for an unmarked CD popping it into the player. “I found this a few years ago and it's kinda become a Solstice favorite. Wish I had it around when I was a kid… Even before Johnny I was always bullied for being Pagan. Especially this time of year.” You said as you his play. https://youtu.be/B8i0ypSqBxE
Matt could feel the light of the lights lining the house as you pulled into the drive, the strong smell of evergreens and holly soothing his fears. It smelled like Christmas. You were both greeted with hugs and cheers from your coven and family as you held a yule log cake over your head to keep it safe and yelled over the sounds of excitement a reminder to be gentle with Matt. Matt smiled a more genuine smile as he could hear the echoes of the decorations...even a tree with a star on top. “Your cake is just like the log in the fireplace.” He whispered with a chuckle in your ear as you set it down.
Nana hobbled over to the both of you, her old feet not quite what they used to be. “Blessed Yule you two.” She said with a hug to the both of you before handing over the handmade gift to Matt.
Tumblr media
“Nana thank you.” Matt said with a soft smile, truly touched by the gesture. He held close to him the red sweater, his fingers running over plush textures she created for him. “You really didn't have to.”
“Oh nonsense! The least I could do to make up for the last time you came up to see us.” She replied as she patted Matts cheek. How he wished he could have had a family like yours, loving and supporting in every way they can be.
“Actually Nana, Mr. (YLN) I've been meaning to talk to the both of you about that…” Matt said sheepishly as he gestured in the direction of the back door.
The two if them nodded, leading him to the snow covered back porch. “What's wrong son?” Dad asked with a concerned fold to his brow. Matt told them of the disturbing experience he had. “Well the veil did feel thinner than the past few years. Now i understand why. Son if you don't feel comfortable with this you need to tell her. We understand.”
“Well I'd like to try all of them for her before I decide what to exclude myself from. In all honesty what I'd really like to know is if (y/n) and I were to marry would want it to be in a church...can she-”
“Matt look.” Dad interrupted sternly enough to make Matt a bit nervous. “(Y/n) is a grown woman capable of making her own decisions. If I believed I had any right in deciding what she does I would have separated her from that dummass kid long before you came around.”
“I would prefer to give Bug a handfasting,” Nana continued for her son. “But you have our blessing for whatever you both decide.”
Matt smiled a bit relieved knowing they wouldn't object if you wouldn't...but it wasn't exactly the help he was looking for. “Thank you both. I truly love her so much. I haven't asked her yet though.” He assured them both. “Just after what I've heard about this guy I want to do everything I can to not offend anything about your religion.”
“Then you best put that sweater on young man.” Nana half joked before ushering him inside where it was warm.
You smiled glad to see he was feeling more comfortable straying from you this time as you watched him laugh at Dad's stories of your mischievous youth while you were congratulated for your win in the competition by other family and coven members.
He watched with a smile as you lit the log once the sun goes down listening to the ritual welcoming back the light. Once it was over you sat by him wrapping your arms gently around him explaining that the log will burn all night as his ears picked up the sound of the children leaving small treats outside for winter time faeries. He was happy to admit that he felt well at home this time...it felt just like Christmas should.
~ ~ ~ ~
Christmas came a few days after Yule. You sat nervously in the stiff pew listening to the long drawn out service struggling to find the spirit of the season in Father Lantom's words. Matt's fingers wrapped comfortingly around yours as you began to wonder if the lecture would ever end. But bless Matt for wearing that soft plush sweater your Nana made for him today.
Finally the service ended and you were greeted with welcoming hugs from the priest and one particular nun. “Father Lantom, mom...this is (y/n).” He announced to the both of them gesturing to you.
“Well it is so nice to finally meet the girl willing to put up with Matthew's hobbies.” Father Lantom said with a subtle grin telling you he knew as the last of the church goers filed from the building.
“How can I not?” You answered brightly turning to Maggie. “He does so much good.”
You both lingered in the church for a while before Matt announced they should get going. “I'll be right out love.” You assured him before planting a kiss on his cheek. “I'm a bit nervous to ask but what did Matt tell you about me?”
“What do you mean deer?” Maggie asked seeing how nervous you were in how you held yourself.
“Well...I'm not-” you begain before it clicked with the both of them.
“Oh that. Yes. He's told us.” Lantom said with a chuckle. “And we were so excited to have you here today no matter who you were praying to.”
“Oh.” You suddenly felt a bit better. “Well I've been wondering. He and I have been together for a while. And if it were to ever get to the point of marriage. Umm how would that work?”
“Well, I'm not sure how it works for Pagans but the way we see it so long as love is there it will work out just fine.” Maggie answered with an encouraging tone.
“When Matthew met you he really wasn't in the best place.” Father Lantom explained. “You have truly been a blessing for him.” His words touched you near to the point of tears. “I've been wanting to thank you for all you do for him.”
“What was that about?” Matt asked when you emerged from the large church doors.
“Nothing to worry about baby.” He grinned to you knowing you weren't being truthful but letting you have your secrets.
