It’s that time again! Looking for suggestions for this year’s list. Leave a comment with which coasters you would like to see included in this year’s personification challenge!

Please list the name of the park with your coaster suggestion so I can be sure I’m naming the right one!

Other coasters from parks on last year’s list and defunct coasters are up for consideration.

Coasters on previous lists will not be considered (see the end of this post for those lists!), but do feel free to follow previous list prompts when you draw if you prefer. Since next year will be year 5, I may start repeats then!

Coasters based off of specific IP characters will not be considered this year (examples: Incredible Hulk, Batman: the Ride, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train). BUT! Coasters that are based on a general IP property will be (examples: Tron Light Cycle Power Run*, Velocicoaster). Coasters with original mascot characters will be considered, but participants are encouraged to create their own designs. So, yes, Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger is up for consideration!

Coasters that are announced but not yet open will also be considered if they have, at the very least, a name and logo. A color scheme or train reveal is also preferred.

Day 20 of Coaster Maynia - Wicker Man

What an honour to see yourself burning in wicker, encased in his soul. Do you see yourself in him?

The time has come for the Wicker Man to rise! Together, we shall feed the flames!

Let the ceremony commence.

Now this is a submission I was excited to do. I probably went a bit overboard and am down to the wire posting it on time…but it’s so worth it. Definitely my favorite piece from 2023 so far. I’m happy to return to my animated paintings as well! I had promised myself not to give up on big illustrations like this!

Considering this an au piece of sorts…what if all of our beloved heroes were actually members of the Wicker Man cult!? Definitely inspired by my recent watch of the original Wicker Man film.

I’m going to attempt to finish last year’s CoasterMaynia before this years. It just feels wrong to do this year’s CoasterMaynia without completing last year’s. So here’s Day 1-5 of CoasterMaynia 2023. Btw the signatures say 2023 as these sketches for these were done last year. I’m finishing what I started.

Coastermaynia 2023 Day 31- Your Choice! (High Speed Thrill Coaster at Knoebels). @coastermaynia

The second Coastermaynia submission I have this year— today’s prompt is a “free space” in which you can chose any coaster you want. I chose High Speed Thrill Coaster, Knoebels’ original kiddy coaster (and the very first coaster they installed— all the way back in 1955!) “HSTC” sees himself as the resident “cool dude”…or at least a teenager’s approximation of “cool” (as defined back in the mid 50s). Although presenting himself as a “rebel without a cause”, HSTC is still a kid at heart. Though he mellowed out towards the end of his coaster’s operational life, his familial bond with Phoenix never faltered— Phoe was always proud of his “son”.

(No new outfit bcs I couldn’t think of anything in time lol. But I’m happy to have drawn this guy again! It’s been too long…)

Coaster Maynia 2023 Day 25 - Verbolten

I fell a bit behind in Coaster Maynia since I was on holiday the past several days, but now I’m home and it’s time to catch up! Really love the vibe of my Verbolten gal, an off road racer with a not so secret curse is what I went for with her!

Once coaster Maynia ends I’ll probably be taking a bit of a break from coaster character stuff to be working on some other projects, so forgive me if I aren’t as active again! But I hope to share some exciting new art soon!

Day 2 of Coaster Maynia 2023 - Krake

Just finished up day 2 in time! I immediately fell in love with with the vibe of this coaster…felt like the marrying of Nemesis and Oblivion with a pinch of pirate! I had fun making a kraken monster pirate design for this one! Maybe we will see his return soon? I enjoyed drawing this design and would love to bring him back!

Day 11 of Coaster Maynia 2023 - Full Throttle

Wasn’t sure at first how I wanted to approach this design until I decided to go with a roller skater gal! This probably isn’t the last design I do of a coaster character on roller skates! Currently love drawing characters who skate as its currently a huge thing I do now, lessons and everything! This skater girl definitely speed skates, and maybe she can go backwards!

Day 7 of Coaster Maynia 2023 - Montu

Return or my little bird creature designs for a Montu! This guy within his species is probably considered the vessel for a god! Because of that, he has a bit of a complex!

Day 5 of Coaster Maynia 2023 - Wildcats Revenge

We have a coaster I’ve been on finally!!! Well…sort of! I’ve been on the old wildcat a few times. It’s always been a bit of a tricky coaster for me in my history with roller coasters. I think it’s what put me off of coasters for years when I was young as it felt so rough! Never enjoyed its experience because of the roughness personally. I’m excited to visit my family in PA again and hopefully get to ride this new reimagined version of wildcat someday! As for the character, decided to go with a vengeful bob cat lady, since it’s one of the wild cats you’ll find in Pennsylvania! And I always thought the “wild cat” logo was a bob cat! Really like how she turned out, hope you guys like her too!!!

Day 6 of Coaster Maynia 2023 - Toutatis

I was a bit worried when I approached this character at first! It was a different challenge for me. But the end result is something I’m super proud of the concept I came up with! I have a vague knowledge of Asterix, seeing its main characters around every once in awhile. The park itself also looks incredibly charming! Definitely on the bucket list now!

Was always told growing up that if you saw blue in a flame, that was the hottest part, but this lad here is just too cool. So proud I’ve made it 10 days in! The first row done, here is hoping I keep going strong!!!

Day 9 of Coaster Maynia 2023 - Steel Force

Not only is this a ride I’ve been on, but its also a character I’ve designed! SO a redraw was in order! I feel like this isn’t a great representation of my improvement since its a quicker doodle, but I like to see that the essence of my art style has remained consistent over the years! I hope you guys enjoy this little gremliny design as much as I do!

Day 8 of Coaster Maynia 2023 - Dragon Gliders

Wanted to go with a Dragon rider girl for todays design! I actually used a photo or a girl horse riding as reference for the pose haha! It’s been helpful and really getting some new dynamic poses for these designs when I use references. This year I’ve really wanted to push myself as an artist with poses, designs, and backgrounds!

Coaster Maynia 2023 Day 31 - Artist Choice, Vampire at Chessington

Coaster Maynia has finally come to a close for me! Ah! So happy to have done the full list this year, even though it took more than the month of May haha. Hopefully next year I’ll get ahead at the very start! Finishing up with Vampire! I went to Chessington World of Adventures this past May and I adored it! Vampire is a new favorite for sure, the story I came up with for this character is that he is an author of Vampire stories, telling tales of charismatic and charming vampires based off himself, but in reality he is a absolute nerd and goofball! Can’t wait to do more with him….now to get some prep done for Artfight! Wish me luck haha, I want to do a bit this year but don’t think I’ll be doing as much as past years!
