just imagine ( also dom chan đŸ˜«đŸ˜«>>>) chan not giving you attention and suddenly goes out then you text him to ask where he went ( you know he is out with the members you jus got somthing up your sleeve
ïżœïżœ where are you”
chan: i’m with the boys
you reply “ same”
he’ll start blowing up your phone and you leave him in read
you bet you’ll get it when he gets homeđŸ«Ł
Oh goodness- the brat mentality is jumping out in this one and I'm so down for it!!! ❣ Warnings: Dom! Chris, brat! reader, degradation, Dom/Sub dynamics, slight spit roasting, slight choking, open ended ❣ ❣ Additional Tags: Chan is referred to as Chris, Reader is referred to as Princess, Baby, Good Girl, Brat, Spoiled
Attention Seeking
You knew this would happen - pushing one too many buttons of his and breaking some small, but carefully picked, rules to bring out that authoritative aura you had a gut wrenching craving for.
Chris told you if you kept acting out, he'd ignore you until you decided to act right like his "good girl would", but you were well beyond the puppy eyes and lilted begging - that wasn't any fun.
So, when he announced he was heading out with the boys for a little bit, not even the slightest bit amused when you denied his offer of coming with, you took to putting the rest of your plan to work a little more than half an hour later.
Princess💖: Where are you? ChannieđŸș: Huh?? ChannieđŸș: I'm with the boys.. Princess💖: Mm, same
There was a short minute between your message and his reply, but the result was nothing short of golden.
ChannieđŸș: What? ChannieđŸș: Baby who are you with?
No less than a second later, your phone was ringing with his caller ID on full display, but you just sat and listened to the ringtone play through until it cut off, sending his call straight to voicemail.
ChannieđŸș: Answer me ChannieđŸș: Who are you with??? ChannieđŸș: Baby I swear
Another phone call, but this time you swiftly declined it without a moment of hesitation, sending him to voicemail yourself.
ChannieđŸș: K.
With that, your phone went silent, no further texts or calls coming through; and though part of you felt bad for taking it to these lengths, you couldn't help the fluttering of butterflies in your stomach as you eagerly awaited his arrival.
Seconds turned to minutes, and minutes to hours, and the excitement that was once coursing through your veins had slowly turned into annoyance and anticipation - had he played you at your own game? Was he truly outwitting the brat? Did he actually choose a true punishment over the punishment you were practically begging for?
Leaving your phone in the bedroom, you decided to venture into the kitchen to at least satiate your thirst since it didn't seem like anything else was being satiated any time soon.
However, the second you grabbed a cup from the cabinet and set it on the counter, an arm was wrapped around your waist and a hand was around your neck.
You would've screamed if it weren't for the familiar scent of mahogany and coconut filling your nose, though that didn't stop your heart rate from skyrocketing in the process; your body freezing against his.
"You fucking minx," Chris breathed against the shell of your ear, the hand around your neck twitching slightly as he felt your pulse, "lost all your senses in one night for what, huh? Because you needed some fucking attention? You can't go one hour without needing me?"
Swallowing thickly, you somehow managed to find your voice as the rolling flame of defiance grew within you. "Y-You were gone for more than an hour, Christopher."
There was a scoff, then you were spun around in his hold and backed against the counter, though his arm protected your lower back from the sharp edge - he would be the one inflicting pain, nothing else.
His eyes were sharp, darkened by a mix of aggravation and arousal, and if it weren't for the fact that he was holding onto you, you would've melted to the floor where you stood.
"Speaking back, acting out, breaking the worlds easiest rules, ignoring messages, ignoring calls." With each subject listed the tick in his lip grew, and if you hadn't known better it would've felt like he was genuinely mad at you. "If you want to act like a spoiled rotten brat, then fine," the hand that was once on your neck now cradled your jaw, squishing your cheeks almost painfully as he forced your gaze to remain on him, "I'll remind you what bad girls get, I'll break that fucking ego of yours until you're begging for my forgiveness."
He leaned forward and your eyes fluttered, your body instinctively preparing itself to feel his lips on yours, but when you only felt the pass of his breath you whined pitifully.
"That's what I thought." Peering down at you, he tilted his head back just a sliver, "All that bark and no bite - don't worry, baby, I've got all the bite you need."

Buttons!! I found all these in a button bag at the thrift store for like 3 bucks. They're perfect for some solarpunk clothing projects I wanna do
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They're mostly wood, coconut shell and metal, and a few plastic ones and they're all so beautiful. I wanted to post them just cause I like sharing my treasures and shinies <3
[Image ID: The first image is of 8 coconut shell buttons, a large hexagon shaped one with a flower design carved into the darker side, and a large circular one with curvy lines carved into the lighter side. The rest are smaller circular buttons with no designs. One side of each button is dark brown and the other side is light brown. All buttons in this image are two-hole buttons.
The 2nd image is of three buttons. The large hexagon one from the first image, and two large plastic buttons, a little bigger than a quarter. One black button with an anchor and some rope carved into it and a simple dark brown one with a stitched design on the outer rim of the button. Both plastic buttons are four-hole buttons
The 3rd image is of 14 wooden two-hole buttons, all the same size (size of a penny). They are a variety of rainbow colors and patterns, some with psychedelic designs. Some of them have the same design
The 4th image contains four large wooden two-hole buttons with the same size and design. There are cherry blossom branch designs burned into the wood.
The 5th image has two rectangular wooden shank buttons (shank buttons have no holes, they have a plastic, metal or wood loop on the back). One is green with peas on the front and the other is red with an eggplant, both are designed like packets of seeds. Almost an inch tall and half an inch wide
The 6th image is a variety of metal shank buttons in various sizes. A set of two large aged brass colored ones with an intricate sun design, a small brass one with a different intricate sun design, a large aged silver one with wildflowers and a butterfly on it, a small brass one with simple leaf designs on it, a small copper colored button with a tree of life, a shiny silver one with intricate geometric designs (hard to describe) and a set of two small hexagon shaped silver buttons with a smaller hexagon in the middle and black swirly lines outside of the smaller hexagon (my favorite ones)
The final image is of a variety of simple smaller buttons. A simple green resin four-hole one with subtle swirls, a few different flat metal buttons woth no designs, two two-hole buttons that have a silver middle and a clear resin rim, a large two-hole copper colored button made of shell, a small brown plastic button with a single 3D leaf design on the front and a blue wooden star shaped button with two holes. End of ID]
I really hope this image ID is sufficient please let me know in the comments or reblogs if there's anything I should edit or fix 💚

seijoh 4 mario kart
hanamaki plays as daisy bc she’s a “bad bitch”. he’s not great at the game but shit talks the Whole time like he’s insufferable. he targets oikawa specifically bc it pissed him off and takahiro lives for the drama. he also throws himself around and otherwise resorts to physical violence in his attempts to win (or at least make the others lose) and complains loudly when he inevitably loses even though he doesn’t actually care. he drives with motion controls he fucks with coconut mall he knows the shortcuts he sings along he sets iwa’s ringer to the theme song hajime can’t figure out how to change it no one does it for him he has to live with it.
matsukawa is really good at mario kart bc it’s his solemn duty as the oldest sibling to be The Best and teach everyone a lesson. he’d win if he actually put in any effort but he actually doesn’t care against the other three and keeps getting distracted bc hiro is laying across his lap. his favorite character is yoshi but he plays as a different one every time and changes up his cart he lets takahiro choose and just deals with it. he steers with the joystick has insane aim with green shells and hits his target every time he takes out hajime sticks his tounge out and gets pushed off the couch. occasionally he’ll give a play-by-play commentary of the entire race completely monotone and it pisses everyone OFF “shut the fuck up!!!!” he does not care he drifts around a corner bumps tooru off a bridge.
iwaizumi takes mario kart Seriously. he’s generally not very good at video games (a few exceptions, he Kills at minesweeper hasn’t lost a game since 3rd grade) but he grew up playing against tooru they’re both pretty good bc of this they’re SO competitive. he holds the controller in a Vice Grip he presses the acceleration button so hard his thumb indents and his fingers cramp he mutters to himself and swears the whole time. he steers with the joystick but also turns his hands he moves with his whole body on turns and stuff he’s lasered in if issei opens his goddamn mouth one more time he’s getting a fist stuffed in it. he races as bowser and has a cart picked out that he absolutely swears by he Doesn’t Change it he’s a man of consistency. he and oikawa almost always finish first and second but it switches who’s where it’s always neck and neck they’re keeping a tally of winners and it’s bafflingly even. he has to wear the wrist strap bc he has broken more than one controller by throwing it accidentally and he always sits on tooru’s left bc he’s superstitious.
oikawa is also pretty good bc he grew up playing he’s also Competitive and will not hesitate to cheat he plays dirty constantly but complains when other people do it. he shit talks a little he also Yells and Screams but everyone’s used to it he’s a sore loser but has gotten better about it over the years. he steers with motion controls bc he claims it’s a more “authentic experience” issei reminds him he doesn’t have a license tooru smiles too big with Teeth says “fuck you mattsun”. he sits crisscross plays as link drives exclusively motorcycles he claims he loses only bc of “sabatoge!” and “targeting” then tries to take hajimes controller. he’s actually really good at it though he Kills on rainbow road and has a personal vendetta against baby luigi the others say he should race as donkey kong bc their hair is the same tooru Seethes and “accidentally” kicks his drink over now everyone but him has wet socks.

As you gain more experience with sourcing sewing supplies, you’ll learn to identify the fiber content by sight and touch but it’s hard to teach via text. You just have to go out there and touch a lot of fabrics. But what I can teach you is how to tell metal, glass, and shell buttons apart from plastic ones!
Temperature. Real metal, glass, and mother of pearl will be noticeably cold to the touch. Plastic will not. That’s it, that’s the trick, it works 100% of the time. Obviously if you hold any material for too long it will warm to your touch but if it’s cold to start with then it’s not plastic.
Unfortunately this doesn’t work for wood, horn, or bone. Wood and other plant materials should have visible end grain on the edges, while imitation wood buttons will have swirls of color and/or no grain at all. You should be able to see the fibers of the wood grain even when polished smooth. Wood and coconut shell buttons will also often absorb and darken in contact with water.
Most stores never have real bone or horn buttons so you’re better off just ordering direct from a reliable online supplier.

Noble OCs - Volo
More OCs from one of my four original noble clans, the Volo! They are the Clan of the Healers and their current Clan Leader is Zephyrus Volo, whose heir is his daughter Azurine Volo. Their clan’s soul weapon is crystal ball Octavio.
For complete info please check out the link below:
(Just a quick note, everyone is a noble here. There are no hybrids. In my headcanons “pureblood” and “non-pureblood” are just terms that nobles use with each other to broadly describe how affiliated someone is with their own clan. And I say “broadly” because there is much more to it and I think it deserves a post of its own. For now “pureblood” can be seen as a “strong enough and qualified to inherit the clan’s soul weapon and become Clan Leader” and “non-pureblood” as “an ordinary clan member” kind of thing. And being either has little to do with lineage and more of just the individual itself. Again, definitely posting more on that in the future)
Straight to the characters.
Hyacinthus Volo: Non-pureblood. Father/soul fragment donor of Ludis Mergas, husband/lover/friend (?) of Valentina Mergas. Alive in the present day, belongs to the Previous Lord’s generation.
Hyacinthus used to work under Zephyrus’ predecessor, the previous Volo Clan Leader, as one of the many Volo antidote researchers. He got kicked out eventually because he kept messing things up. He did things like throwing out his colleagues’ work-in-progress vials and potions because he thought they were trash, forgetting to do his part thus causing a failed experiment and indirectly forcing everyone back to square one, accidentally knocking over precious ingredients, setting the old records on fire
etc. Hyacinthus got a job as a scribe instead because that was the only thing they could count on him for. Despite his occasional sloppiness and forgetfulness, his fellow researchers couldn’t bring themselves to be annoyed with him for too long because he is a cheerful and amiable man. Outside of work, he is a great friend. His presence alone is enough to lighten gloomy moods and his friends sometimes compare him to a clear blue sky on a beautiful sunny day. Hyacinthus is neither extrovert nor introvert, instead something in between. He doesn’t need to socialize on a regular basis, but he never declines invitations. He’s “that” person nobles with little to no friends would always invite to their parties and events because they can count on him to show up. As a result, Hyacinthus is always busy. Want a hiking buddy? Will be there for ya. Don’t have a dancing partner? Sure can rearrange my plans. Just want someone to vent to? Will give plenty of hugs too. For this reason, Hyacinthus has a powerful network of friends who are more than willing to help him because the effort is mutual. Mostly weirdo friends because he’s one of the only people who would accept them for who they are, but normal friends too. He gets mountains of gifts piled at his doorstep and they still keep coming in. Hyacinthus is humble and tells his friends that they don’t need to give him anything, but they insist on showing their appreciation for him.
Hyacinthus’ hobby is button making. Buttons for clothes, buttons for toys, buttons for collection
just lots of buttons. He carves them from coconut shells, fruit pits, wood, and other common materials. He makes a button whenever there is a special occasion to keep for himself or to give away as a gift. Hyacinthus makes one for his son Ludis’ birthday every year and Ludis has a treasure box full of them. Each one of them has a unique design, and Hyacinthus continues this tradition for his grandchildren.
No one really knows what his exact relationship with Valentina is. They seem to be more than friends but there is no solid answer. Valentina doesn’t answer when questioned and Hyacinthus just says “guess”. Well, that’s going to remain a mystery for now. Hyacinthus misses Valentina very much since the day she entered eternal sleep with the Previous Lord. He too makes a button for her every year on the day they said their final goodbyes to each other, which is the day she died.
Ludis gets the blueish tint in his grey hair from Hyacinthus.
Rurik Volo: Pureblood. Uncle of Zephyrus Volo, father of Malati Volo. Alive in the present day, belongs to Gejutel’s generation.
Rurik was supposed the be the next Volo Clan Leader after his predecessor and mother as her then-only child, but he detested the traditional Volo self-poisoning antidote-researching training regimen so much that his mother had no choice but to have another child because clearly he was not the one. The training regimen is absolutely mandatory and has been the tradition since the Volo Clan came into existence, and rejecting it means forfeiting your right to succeed the clan as the heir. So be it. The position of Clan Leader eventually went to Rurik’s younger sister, who is the mother of Zephyrus. Rurik didn’t want to work alongside ordinary clan members as a researcher either, and in the end his mother couldn’t find a job for him within the clan and he became unemployed. During his youth, Rurik couch surfed a lot and his friends all thought he got disowned or something, but he actually left home on his own accord because he was too ashamed to face his mother and family for failing to fulfill his destiny. He just couldn’t do it. The pain and self-harm is too much for him. He can’t even comprehend how his mother and all of the previous Clan Leaders were able to put themselves through such torture. Rurik’s little sister seems to be willing to do it, and while he is proud of her determination, he also feels sorry for her because he is the reason why she was born. As his replacement, because he chose to escape from his duty. She wouldn’t have needed to do this to herself if he had more courage. For this reason, Rurik can’t seem to look at her in the eye either. He ends up avoiding his mother, sister, and clan members, and became a basement dweller who rotated between the homes of his friends. Fortunately, as an extrovert, he had many friends and they were happy to host their troubled buddy. Rurik eventually finds his passion in music composition. He settles down in a place of his own, far away from the Volo’s main residence because he still can’t bring himself to face his family. In the present day, Rurik writes music for Lukedonia. His work all sound sad, for some reason. Stunning and graceful, but sprinkled with melancholy.
Rurik is a decent fighter and has an extensive knowledge of buff and debuff spells. Despite leaving home at a young age, he worked very hard and secretly taught himself how to use magic as a Volo because he didn’t want to ask anyone for help as he was too embarrassed to do so. He doesn’t even know how impressive this is and continues to think of himself as a loser.
At some point, Rurik had his daughter Malati with an unnamed noble, presumably one of his friends who hosted him during his couch surfing days.
Aeron Volo: Non-pureblood. Alive in the present day, belongs to Raskreia’s generation. No one really likes Aeron. He’s full of negativity and brings that unpleasantness with him wherever he goes. His shortcomings are always the fault of others, and his life is miserable because the world is against him. Aeron has a normal family and his parents did everything they could for him, but he turned out like this anyway. Aeron ends up offending almost everyone around him and he has no friends. He never fulfills the promises he makes, he invalidates people’s achievements, and even goes as far as to say that his Clan Leader Zephyrus’ daughter and heir Azurine doesn’t deserve to become the next Volo Clan Leader just because she “ingests poison” and “makes cuts on her arms”. Anyone can do that. This would enrage his fellow clan members and if Aeron is lucky, he gets an intense scolding. If he is unlucky, he gets a violent beating. Only after they dare him take the poison Azurine takes on a regular basis does he learn that she is doing something incredibly selfless for the greater good of all nobles. Aeron almost dies, and drops to the floor screaming and writhing in pain until they give him the antidote. You thought that was bad enough? That’s not even a third of Azurine’s daily dose. And the antidote to this poison only exists because she put herself through this pain in order to analyze what it does to the body to come up with countermeasures. Aeron finally realizes how much of a fool he was. He’s still unpleasant at times, but he has been humbled and no longer speaks like that about people, especially his future Clan Leader. Aeron’s issues aren’t completely gone yet, but at least he doesn’t invalidate people’s achievements anymore. He even starts to develop a sense of admiration for Azurine. Eventually, with hard work, Aeron discovers that he has some talent for debuff spells. Turns out his nastiness was rooted in his insecurities all along, and hey, he’s not completely useless either.
Aeron is currently training to become a knight, and hopes to become strong so he can serve his future Clan Leader, the Lord, and Lukedonia well.
Esther Volo: Non-pureblood. Entered eternal sleep, belonged to Lagus’ generation. Esther was an eccentric woman. She had a conspicuous sharp-pitched giggle and an unusual obsession with scissors and cutting things up. Her clothes, the curtains, the books on the shelves, the flowers on the hillside
even herself. More like she found pleasure in ruining things and then returning them to their original state like nothing had ever happened. This just felt so romantic to Esther and she never had any other hobby. She cooed and baby talked to things as she cut them up. The vibrations that traveled from the scissors blades to her hands with each and every snip excited her more than anything else. The more the material resisted, the more ecstatic she became. Eventually Esther moved onto cutting off pieces of her own face, fingers, and even legs. Slicing her own cheeks off was just as fun as feeling her femur split into two. Her delicate, soft fingers were nice as additional decorations to the flowers in her vase. Gives it an extra pop of color. And that’s what being a Volo meant to her. She’d just use healing spells on herself. Rinse and repeat. With inanimate objects, she used basic restoration spells. The nobles were aware of Esther’s obsession and most stayed away from her, as they were scared and suspected that she would cut them up too. Those were just assumptions, of course, because Esther never messed with other people or their belongings. She only experimented on her own possessions and body. Reassuring to hear, but doesn’t make it any less creepy.
If Esther considered someone as her friend, she would invite them to her home and show them her massive scissors collection hanging on the wall, arranged by size from small to big. Those who didn’t run away became her best friends.
Esther wore poofy floor-length dresses throughout her lifetime and hid all sorts of scissors under layers of lace. Sometimes the nobles could hear the scissors clack against one another as she walked. She eventually entered eternal sleep because she had already cut up everything she could find in the world and had nothing exciting to look forward to anymore.
Malati Volo: Pureblood. Daughter of Rurik Volo, and cousin of Zephyrus Volo. Alive in the present day, belongs to the Previous Lord’s generation.
Malati is confident and imaginative. As a child, she always went around asking “why?” to every question she could think of. The adults thought she was just another curious child, but in no time it became apparent that she was dead serious about it. Malati didn’t want to live at home with her less-than-confident father Rurik who somehow always avoided her questions, and sometime during her teenage years, she moved to Titus Paradiso’s library tower Minerva and has lived there ever since. Malati misses her father, but knows better than to hold back her true potential to keep him company
plus, he seems more interested in his music anyway. He wouldn’t miss her, it’s okay. Or so she thought, because she was a bit saddened when he didn’t really have a reaction when she announced that she was going to move out. Well, she’s better off chasing her dreams than staying at home with such a mood killer. In a way, Professor Titus felt more like a father figure to Malati, as he would always be brimming with enthusiasm whenever the two of them talked about newest discoveries. Titus and Malati have a close relationship, and when the former’s twins Anabella and Anastasia are born sometime in the future, Malati becomes family to them. The twins call her “Auntie”.
Malati’s current goal is to figure out exactly how two soul fragments merge together to create a new soul, which is the nobles’ way of having children. The old records don’t offer any clear explanation either. The nobles only know that it happens, not how. The mechanism behind it remains a mystery to this day. Malati wants to get her hands on a physical soul fragment so she can dissect it or something, if that is even possible at all. Maybe she’ll eventually discover a way for nobles to have children through soul fragments without having their lifespans reduced so parents can spend more time with their children. Perhaps it is ambitious, but Malati is hopeful.
Eventually, Malati and her father Rurik reconcile with each other and it is revealed that the latter chose not to respond to his daughter’s questions because she was a brilliant child, and he was afraid that he would drag her down because he didn’t have the confidence to match her excellence. Rurik thought that Malati would be disappointed in him like the rest of his family since he was the failed heir. The two of them talk out their misunderstandings and share a tearful moment. Rurik asks Malati if she wants to move back home, which would become an offer she rejects gently because Minerva is her home now. Understandable for both father and daughter, so they exchange letters to keep in touch. Rurik sends Malati his newest sheet music, and she shares with him her research progress on various topics. While they don’t completely understand what each other is talking about, their exchanges are filled with affection.
Malati is currently working to find an antidote to reverse lifespan loss for nobles who had children.
Malati’s partner is a Paradiso scholar.

Cosplaying a Dalek
How I spedran my first ever cosplay to wear it at a con, aka a sentimental writeup on the making of the costume with lots of pictures! Find it under the cut.
Tumblr media
Ever since I first laid eyes on them, I've loved the Daleks, both as a wider entity and in their design.
Tumblr media
Look at this thing, it's perfection! A modern design from the newer, post-2005 series, but with a more classic-feeling black colour scheme.
During my comprehensive Doctor Who watch-through, sometime around January 2020, an idea for an anthropomorphic Dalek materialised in my mind, centering around the Dalek trooper helmets from Resurrection of the Daleks. Except I thought they could have looked way cooler.
Tumblr media
I mean look at it. It's got the spirit but it lacks the style. So my design incorporated all the parts I found important about the entirety of the Dalek form. I doubt I thought about cosplaying it while I first had the idea, but the first post I ever made about it already mentions that desire.
huh, it's been so long already??
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I never did much about it since that time, though, aside from talking it over with a friend for ideas and thinking about visiting some second-hand clothes shops to look for the right sort of coat. That didn't end up happening, because by sheer luck I found two leather coats to choose from at home, just sitting there unused, and one of them had exactly the right collar!

that was definitely way over a year ago though. The next time anything moved forward cosplay-wise was early in April this year. Once my small group of friends decided all three of us would go to this year's convention, and all of us were to show up in costume, it was on. With a time limit and a real goal of creating the costume I'd dreamed of for so long, I actually got to work.
The cosplay never left my mind since that day; I was constantly planning what I'd need and how I'd go about achieving it in the back of my mind. There were some things I had ideas for, but many more that I didn't even know how to start approaching; I spent several days in the first two weeks just visiting every art and hobby shop and some more specialised ones across (and some outside) the entire city. (I found out more about public transport here in that week than for my entire life here.)
Some harder to find items that I'd known I'd need from the beginning were a bicycle chain (for the exo-spine) and clear plastic cups (for the helmet lights). Those required dedicated trips and, in the chain's case, much additional work cleaning and breaking it to the desired length.
What gave me the MOST trouble, though, were all the balls on the costume, both helmet and coat. Nearly everyone I talked to about this project had their own (mostly unsolicited) ideas for what they could be made of, but none felt right to me. Eventually I latched onto wanting to make them from buttons - so the problem became finding large enough buttons. After much effort I got them - only coconut shell buttons were anywhere near the correct size - and spent the next few days sewing them and the bike chain onto the coat. Tip: never attempt sewing leather without a thimble.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's what it looked like with all the attachments + a dirt cheap belt from a second hand.
Through all the work on the coat, however, I'd been dreading the part I knew least about: the helmet. It was the most crucial element, the lynchpin of the entire thing, and I knew exactly what I wanted it to look like, but nothing about how I'd achieve it. It took me the longest time to even settle on a material to make it out of.
Everything started coming together once I remembered I have access to 3D modelling software that I *knew how to use*. I speed modelled the helmet in one evening, adjusting only the cup holes for real size and eyeballing the rest of the dimensions, praying that it'd end up being right because I had neither the time nor willpower to go through modelling-printing-cutting and gluing it all a second time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some wip stages looked pretty funny considering the cup shapes were perfectly to scale
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once unfolded, printed out, glued together, cut out, traced on cardboard, and cut out once more, it looked like this:
Tumblr media
a LOT of tape and wishing I had someone to help me hold things in place later, I finally ended up with a shape that looked right and thankfully turned out to be perfectly sized for my noggin. It's incredible how many strokes of luck happened here, really. and there's still several coming up!
After connecting the visor, cups, and a safety helmet base to the cardboard structure, I had a Usable Helmet. Feeling so close to my goal, I still knew there was a long way to go, as I had barely an inkling as to how I'd make or connect the helmet's optic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I used a small tube of thick cardboard and bent wire in the end. The lens was from an old bedstand clock.
Other than that though, what remained was mostly decoration - and I was not about to even attempt painting this thing; I had to cut the helmet's template into separate pieces, lay them out tightly on a few sheets of PVC foam, cut those and then attach them to each side of the helmet one by one. It took a good while but the result was pretty phenomenal, colour quality-wise.
Tumblr media
The helmet also got the button treatment, though these were a different kind and not ones I went looking for - I'd actually had these lying around for years, and exactly the right number, too! Incredible how good they look, especially when in motion and catching all the light. Ended up having to reattach them with a different kind of tape, but they're holding fast now.
So my helmet was done and I had little time to spare, and even less idea how to make my Dalek gun, despite having the parts for it. A classmate unexpectedly offered to let me use a 3D printer he had access to, though, and this opened up an opportunity - so the base for attaching the gun to my forearm was 3D printed, glued, got the straps (from an old gutted backpack) sewn into it and it worked pretty great.
For the gun, I used a clear plastic tube and even more bent wire, and finally for the cable leading to the gun I could do something relaxing - a measure tape that I had to cover with isolation tape. Taped again to the base of the gun, but detachable on the other side via paperclip that I can put on and take off the collar of the coat.
Tumblr media
I had all the elements that required crafting ready and put together just a day before the con, then. I'd picked out appropriate underdress (my Dalek shirt and colour-fitting trousers, light for the hot weather) in between working on them.
Let's summarise: it's June. Sunny weather. My cosplay consists of
gun
shirt
trousers
long leather coat
black helmet
gloves
whatever shoes fit the vibe
and I wanted to put a backpack on top of all that, too. You'd have to be insane to wear all of that on a hot summer day!*
*Disclaimer: all Daleks are clinically insane or close enough, so it all checks out.
I decided not to use the gloves and spare myself that much, at least. In the end, the day was even a little cloudy, and it was only about 25°C outside (for my Fahrenheit-using friends, that translates to "way too hot to wear all that") - so the eleven hours of walking in full Dalek cosplay dehydrated me only a little in the end. I think. Yeah that water bottle was gone fast.
The day was incredibly fun, even more fun than it was exhausting, and the number of people who complimented the cosplay or even asked to take a photo with me was absolutely staggering to a newbie like me! It was all worth it in the end; as I write this, I haven't yet had my planned photoshoot to get nice detailed photos of the cosplay, but I did find a TARDIS prop at the con to pose with, so
I guess I can bend my no photos rule and show you this one.
Tumblr media
Censoring my face with an actual Dalek picture for accuracy.
Now here I am, a proud and happy new owner of a rather nice Dalek costume. It still needs some adjustments for better comfort of wearing, mostly to make the helmet less wobbly while walking, but I have it! I got help from my friends and colleagues both in terms of solution ideas and resources given to me nearly every step of the way and completing it so quickly wouldn't have been possible without it. Thank you, guys. And thank you, if you've read this entire thing, hope it was enjoyable B ] Questions and comments most welcome if you have any.

What is your ideal man/woman. Sexually or not
Ideal? Like if this was Build-A-Bitch? Okay sure...
Men: Musician/singer. Goofy/a great sense of humor. Mean as fuck to everyone but me, BUT still respectful (especially to service workers). Killer vibes. Horny. Extremely possessive, protective as fuck, and obsessed with me (because I would be, too). Faithful to a fault and would cut a bitch for trying to hit on him (lmao). Ideal Appearance: Dark hair, dark or light eyes, muscular/strong. Tall. Tattoos. Big/thick dick. Nice hands/forearms. And it'd be hot if he smoked even though it's bad 💀 (Closest examples: Zade Meadows from Haunting Adeline // Tatsu from Gokushufudou)
Women: Bubbly. Optimistic. Goofy/A great sense of humor. Protective. Innocent but can be a tease, a girl who knows what she wants. Horny. Musician or a singer would be a plus. Someone who can take me out of my shell and show me how to have fun. A faithful girl. Kind of nerdy/into cosplay. Ideal Appearance: blonde, slender, light eyes, pretty smile/lips, nice tiddies, maybe a belly button ring lol. (Closest examples: Coconut from Nekopara // Marin Kitagawa from My Dress-Up Darling)
BUT: this was only if we could build our own "perfect" people lmao. That doesn't exist. I find people all over the spectrum insanely attractive (skinny, bigger, dark skin, light skin, dark eyes, big noses, jagged teeth, awkward, whatever). So please, don't think this means anything.

In Donkey Kong Country Returns, there’s a new set of villains known as the Tiki Tak Tribe, replacing the Kremlings. However, we never really got an explanation for who they are and why they’re evil. However, towards the end of Button Bash (level 3-2), there’s a statue at the end.
Tumblr media
This is obviously a reference to the Three Wise Monkeys, but what if there was a little more to it than that? From this, I decided to create a little story.
Long ago, in the land of Kong (or DK Island or Kongo Bongo or whatever you want to call it), there was an ape known as Tiki Kong, who loved nothing more than playing his drum. He played it in such a way that the local animals couldn’t help but listen. Soon he discovered that their minds were banana pulp in his hands whenever he played, and this power quickly went to his head. He hypnotized everyone on the island, becoming their evil king, eventually using magic banana juice to bring to life a group of instruments to serve as his generals (and a backing band, leading to more varied tunes to be hypnotized to).
Tumblr media
Thanks to the banana juice, Tiki Kong could bring many tiki masks to life, leading to an ever-growing army of instruments. It seemed like Tiki Kong would never be defeated, until three brave monkeys broke through the hypnosis and rose up to take him down.
Mi Kong, a perpetually angry young woman who saw nothing but red when provoked, taking down hoards of Tiki’s armies with her brute strength.
Kika Kong, an energetic girl who marched to the beat of her own drum, who blocked out Tiki’s mesmerizing music with earphones made from coconut shells.
Iwa Kong, a quiet woman who was wise and stoic, sneaking into Tiki’s bases without a sound and taking out everyone inside.
One by one, each of Tiki’s bases fell until it was time for the trio to face the king himself in his tower. It was a long and hard battle, especially due to Tiki constantly being empowered by banana juice. Eventually, they managed to defeat him, with his soul becoming fused into his drum.
Tumblr media
The evil king’s mind control was broken when this happened, freeing everyone. The tower sank into the island’s volcano, where Tiki Tong (called so because at that point he was no longer a Kong and nobody wanted to be associated with him) and his servants slept for thousands of years inside volcanic boulders, until an eruption sent them flying out. Now freed from imprisonment, the Tiki Tak Tribe could wreak havoc on the island once more.
Until Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong stopped them, that is. You know how that went.
And that is my backstory for the Tiki Tak Tribe. Fun fact, the names of the three heroes are taken from the Japanese version of “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil”, “mizaru kikazaru iwazaru” (which got turned into the Three Wise Monkeys because “zaru” sounds like “saru”, the Japanese word for “monkey”).

History and Origin of the Women’s Aloha Shirt
The women’s aloha shirt is more than just a vibrant piece of clothing; it is a symbol of Hawaiian culture and style that has evolved through decades. Originating from the traditional aloha shirt worn by men, the women’s version embraces bright colors, floral patterns, and a relaxed fit that captures the spirit of the islands. The journey of the women’s aloha shirt reflects Hawaii’s multicultural influences and changing fashion trends, making it an iconic garment celebrated worldwide.
The Roots of the Aloha Shirt: A Hawaiian Classic
The aloha shirt’s history begins in the early 20th century in Hawaii, where the blend of cultures led to unique fashion innovations. Traditionally, men wore aloha shirts made from silk or cotton, featuring bold floral or tropical prints. These shirts became popular as casual wear for both locals and tourists, embodying the laid-back island lifestyle.
The original aloha shirt was heavily influenced by Japanese kimonos and Chinese textiles, as well as Western fashion. Immigrants from Japan, China, and the Philippines brought their fabric arts to Hawaii, blending them with native Hawaiian motifs. This multicultural mix gave birth to the colorful and comfortable aloha shirts that are now iconic.
Emergence of the Women’s Aloha Shirt
While the aloha shirt started as menswear, women soon began to adopt the style, creating the women’s aloha shirt as a distinct fashion category. Early women’s aloha shirts often featured softer cuts and more feminine designs compared to the men’s versions. This adaptation allowed women to enjoy the comfort and tropical flair of the aloha shirt while expressing their own style.
By the mid-20th century, the popularity of the women’s aloha shirt surged with Hawaii’s rise as a tourist destination. Women visiting or living in Hawaii wanted clothing that represented the local culture but was also fashionable and versatile. The women’s aloha shirt answered this need perfectly, offering bright colors, floral prints, and a breezy fit ideal for the island climate.
Design Elements of the Women’s Aloha Shirt
The women’s aloha shirt differentiates itself from the traditional men’s version in several ways. The cut is often more tailored or fitted to flatter the female form, sometimes including darts or shaping seams. Sleeves may vary from cap sleeves to short sleeves or even sleeveless styles, depending on the fashion trends.
Floral patterns remain a hallmark of the women’s aloha shirt, but designers also incorporate tropical scenes, marine life, and native Hawaiian symbols. The choice of fabric is usually lightweight cotton, rayon, or silk to ensure breathability in warm weather. Some women’s aloha shirts also feature buttons made from natural materials like coconut shell, adding to the authentic island feel.
Cultural Significance of the Women’s Aloha Shirt
The women’s aloha shirt is not just a fashion statement; it carries deep cultural meaning. In Hawaiian tradition, aloha means love, peace, and compassion—values that the shirt’s colorful and welcoming design reflects. Wearing a women’s aloha shirt often symbolizes respect for Hawaiian heritage and a connection to the island’s unique spirit.
Many Hawaiian families pass down aloha shirts as heirlooms, and local artisans continue to create handmade shirts that celebrate traditional motifs. The popularity of the women’s aloha shirt has helped preserve Hawaiian culture and brought awareness of its rich history to the global stage.
The Women’s Aloha Shirt in Modern Fashion
Today, the women’s aloha shirt has evolved beyond Hawaii’s shores, influencing fashion designers worldwide. It appears on runways, in casual wear collections, and even in office-appropriate styles that balance bold prints with contemporary tailoring.
Sustainability has also become a focus in the production of women’s aloha shirts, with many brands using eco-friendly fabrics and ethical manufacturing practices. The shirt’s timeless appeal ensures it remains a wardrobe staple for women who want a touch of island flair paired with comfort.
How to Style the Women’s Aloha Shirt
Styling the women’s aloha shirt is easy and versatile. For a casual look, pair it with denim shorts or a simple skirt. To dress it up, combine the shirt with tailored trousers or a high-waisted skirt and some statement accessories. The shirt can be worn tucked in or loose, depending on the occasion.
Layering is also popular: wear a camisole underneath and leave the shirt unbuttoned as a light jacket. Many women embrace the women’s aloha shirt as an expression of their personality, mixing and matching patterns and colors for a unique style.
Where to Buy Authentic Women’s Aloha Shirts
For those interested in purchasing a genuine women’s aloha shirt, Hawaii remains the best place to shop. Many local boutiques and markets offer handmade shirts crafted by Hawaiian artisans. Online retailers specializing in Hawaiian apparel also provide a wide range of options, ensuring accessibility no matter where you live.
When buying, look for quality materials and authentic prints that honor Hawaiian culture. Avoid cheap imitations that fail to capture the shirt’s rich heritage and craftsmanship.
Conclusion
The women’s aloha shirt is a beautiful fusion of culture, history, and fashion that has stood the test of time. From its early beginnings influenced by immigrant textiles to its status as a global symbol of island life, the women’s aloha shirt continues to celebrate Hawaiian spirit and style. Whether worn on the beaches of Hawaii or in city streets around the world, it remains a vibrant testament to aloha — the heart of Hawaii.
If you want to learn more about the unique designs and where to find the perfect women’s aloha shirt, explore Hawaiian boutiques or browse trusted online stores specializing in authentic aloha apparel. Embrace this timeless garment and bring a piece of paradise into your wardrobe!
