Chapter 2: The Island of Children

"This is not how I envisioned spending my weekend" David says "We're supposed to be relaxing! Not actively seeking out a kidnapper!"

"Think of it as an extracurricular, for your camp thing" you giggled, "Then maybe we'll have a saving children badge!" Hilda exclaims

"As much as I'd like to have a badge like that, we have homework, and it's an essay! I think we should be doing that instead" Frieda says while fixing the binoculars

David plops down on the sandy beach "Nonsense! Homework should be done as late as Sunday night with a hint of desperation and a tinge of regret"

"Or do it the subject before the assignment is due, you're at a risk of being told off by the teacher and the words are so scrambled, it takes instinct to make out the words" You add in

"Or you don't do it at all" Hilda says

"Yeah we also have those options" David smiles "What I'm saying, weekends are for days at the arcade or binge watching a show while eating junk food"

Children have been going missing, the shores of the Trollberg port that used to have little children playing fisherman have disappeared

"It says here that the 4 children went out to play and one went missing" Hilda says, Then she looks at her three friends

David seemingly to have read Hilda's mind immediately raises his hand "Not it", then you follow "I don't feel like going missing", Frieda was about to say the same but Hilda intervened "Oh you scaredy cats, I'll go missing, only because I know you'll look for me" she said

Then the four children walked, farther from the city, there was a cave.

Looking hesitantly at each other they entered the cave, "So far it's normal" Frieda says "Are you sure this is the right way to go missing?" She asked

"Uh guys... WHERE'S (NAME)!?!?" David panics, "What? I thought I was the one assigned to go missing" Hilda tilted her head

Frieda holds Hilda and David's hand "I think the kidnapper is the one making the choice not the kidnapee-" Hilda gasps "Wait. Is that a library?"

"What are you talking about? There's nothing there" Frieda says, "Uh-there it is, I mean it's not technically a library" She gets closer "Well it looks like a reading nook, with a comfy chair and a nightstand and one book." Hilda says

"Well... We can't see it, but can you read the book, maybe it'll tell us how to get (Name) back" Suggested David

"Hilda! Frieda! David! Where are you guys?!?" You yell in a panic

One moment you were in a cave, now you're on some island? Well the island looks harmless

"Hey umm are you alright?" A girl with Blonde hair and blue eyes offers you a hand "I know you're scared but the island won't hurt you" She looks your age

You're skeptical, so you don't take her hand, but she ushers you to follow and and with nowhere to go, you do.

There you see a town. A town run by children... Some children younger than you and some children older, some looked like teenagers

"Everyone! We have someone new!" The girl announces

The children celebrated.

"The Island saved another!"

"oh how you're going to love it here!"

"We'll make you bracelets"

Then one child, looked older and said something that intrigued you "We wish for a banquet! To celebrate the new kid!"

Then the town magically decorated itself, chairs and tables appeared out of thin air and danced to create a cozy dining table

Food that you loved appeared on the table one by one, to the appetizers, to the main course and dessert, all your favorite.

What is going on???

Hilda starts "Once upon a time, there was a girl, a child who was so lonely, because her family didn't love her, everyday her woes were ignored..."

David and Frieda sat down on the rocks of the caves as a makeshift chair

"But she loved her family still, then when the girl was 15, her family had gone on vacation with her family, but their boat crashed on an island"

"oh no..." Says David, covering his mouth in shock

"Luckily they all survived, but their lifeboat could only carry three people, so mother and father took the girl's brother and they left her on that island." Hilda winced

"the girl died and became a spirit, kidnapping unloved children to make them happy on her island by giving them whatever they wanted, every child could come and go as they please, if a child feels like staying, they may stay, if the child feels like leaving, the island will let them go, but they are always welcome" Hilda finished

"So... The only way for (Name) to go back to is- is if he wanted too?" Frieda groans

Then a bright light shone in the cave, and you popped out "Hah... I'm so full, I didn't think I'd have it in me to eat a 4-tier cake" you huff

"(Name)!"

They all shouted and hugged you, "You're back with us! You didn't stay there!" Hilda says happily

"I know I could get whatever I want there but... I couldn't leave you guys, you're my friends, I don't think I'll ever be happy if I know someone is worrying about me" you smile

"Kids!"

A shout from outside the cave, when you guys peeked out, you guys see the city safety force and the parents of Hilda, David and Frieda

"Oh there they are!" Yelled David's mother, the pairs ran to their children and hugged them "Oh I know how important the sparrow scout badges are for you but you shouldn't go do dangerous things to get them!" Said Frieda's mom while hugging her daughter tightly and her dad hugging both of them

"Are you hurt anywhere my son!?" David's dad picked him up and checked for any sign of hurt "Oh thankfully he's unhurt" sighs David's mom in relief

"I heard that you guys were planning on catching the kidnapper for a badge... It's sweet and heroic but... Don't ever worry me again" Johanna hugged Hilda with all her might

And it left you.

Standing at the entrance of the cave alone, with no one to hug you, no one to worry about you

You feel someone staring at you but when you look at the sea no one was there

"Father... I umm- came home late today, at 3:37 am" you tell Bruce Wayne

He just sighs tiredly, not even looking at you "I don't have time for your stories (Name)" he says

"well, I got transported to a magic island" you say, trying to get his attention but to no avail

"just go to bed" he grumbled and left his office to go to the library, like he always does every night

You feel a pang in your heart, the sad yet loving eyes of your friend's parents, you wanted to see it again, for you.

"You're always welcome to come back.... Take care little one... Live your life happily"

You hear a whisper, it's the island, or the island's spirit

"I- I will think about it" you whisper back

And you go upstairs to your bedroom and wept until your pillows were soaked and drifted off to sleep

Chapter 1: The sleepy familiars

"Quick! We have to catch them!" A little Blue haired girl runs into the surface to the nowhere space to the surface to the nowhere space again with a human boy and a witch behind her

A stupid Nisse stole Frieda's magic wand claiming to be a 'witch in training'

Yeah right!

Nisse's can't be witches! Can't they?

They enter the surface and see that the Nisse is being held tight by a little boy

"uhh.. it bumped into me.. I caught it" the boy says meekly

"it's actually a she, and she stole my magic wand!" Frieda gets closer and snatches her wand back, the Nisse gets out of the boy's hold and runs to the nowhere space again

"No wait- urgh we can't follow her now! How do we get home?!" Hilda groans

"you don't happen to know your Nisse?" David asks meekly "Can we uhh... Borrow them?"

"We're running out of time! We need to get back to the library or else the familiars will forever be asleep!" Frieda panicks

It was now Hilda's turn to panic "And if we don't get there in time, I'll fall asleep too!"

"that's sounds fun... Can I join?" The boy says "I'll ask my Nisse for help" he smiles

"oh splendid! The more the merrier! I'm Hilda, that's David and Frieda, they're my friends, Frieda's a witch and I'm her familiar"

"I'm (Name)! It's nice to meet you all, I was getting bored, there's not much to do here"

A witch lost her familiar and in grief, cast a spell that makes other familiars sleepy so no one would get familiars

What an adventure.

You've been alone for so long, trapped in the four walls of your bedroom, too afraid to get out because of your family's hostility

The witch cries "If I can't have my familiar! No one can have one!" She casts another spell and Hilda falls asleep "No Hilda!" David runs to Hilda

"wait! Frieda! Don't cast anything! Something's not right!" You yell "What! I can't hold this spell much longer! She'll get to us!"

The symptoms of the witch's cat, The cat started eating a lot but keeps on puking it anyway... And hasn't been seen for 8 hours...

"Miss witch! Hold on please! Don't hurt the other familiars! Your cat is just fine!" You tell the rampaging witch, she stops casting spells and destroying the library and looks at you intently

"what do you mean?" She glares

"does your cat have a spot they feel safe in?" You ask "We have to go there!"

She looked puzzled but hopeful, she just wants to see her familiar again

She leads the four of you into her lair and up the attic, in the attic there's a small empty fireplace that hasn't been used for ages, it seemed like the cat turned that fireplace into a nest...

"aww... She had kittens" David coos and he plops a sleeping Hilda down a chair in the attic, "Cats usually give birth for about hours... And they find a safe secluded space" you smile

"Now can you undo your spells on the familiars!?" Frieda glares

"uh- yes! Of course... It seems I overreacted.." she fixes her glasses

"Oh did you!?"

The witches hug their now awake familiars, the matter has been resolved

"Do these things happen to you guys a lot?" You ask

"yeah... But they're fun,Such is the life of an adventurer" Hilda bows and you and the other two giggle

"would you like to join us for the future escapades? It would be nice to have another boy in the group" David suggests

You fiddle with your hands "If you'd like me to join"

"Then it is official! We have another member!" Frieda announces, Hilda tilts her head "You live far away tho.."

"that's not a problem for me, my Nisse loves to travel, and I'm kind of the only one who speaks to him, and my family doesn't really care when I'm gone" you smile

Nightwing hollered up the motorcycle that was about to fall off a bridge, the sturdy rope pulling it in a rushed pulley system

Then he saw it, a beam of light onto the sky, the clouds forming circles upon it, thunder and lightning crackling onto the sky

He rushed to the scene, to find, his little brother (Name) with some friends

"What are you guys doing here?" He asked politely, trying not to startle them, "Oh Nightwing! Guys he's one of the vigilantes who protects the city" you smiled introducing him to your friends

"oohh, I wish my city had vigilantes, the spirits know we need it" the girl with blue hair laughed

"Are you children not from here?" Nightwing asked which the three kids Shaked their heads to say no "Were visiting (Name)" says the little boy

"It's so late at night... Do you guys know how to get home?" He asked, then he looked at (Name), his little brother playing on his friends in a tide pool, he wouldn't have minded it, but it's so late at night...

(Name) gets up and brushes off the seaweed in his head "Oh well be going home now, we just had to get rid of the tide mice Hilda gave me"

"Did you children happen to see a beam of light?" He asked

"uhh no." (Name) Replied skittishly, then he whispered something to his three friends, a mumble he couldn't hear

"Supernatural stuff aren't really embraced here" (Name) whispered

"We'll be uhh... Going home now, I'll just call my mum" The blue hair girl says

And after a few minutes of waiting a car pulls up and a woman with brown hair looks at the safe children with relief "Oh (Name) thank goodness you're safe... Now Hilda, stop giving out the mice!" She scolded the blue haired girl

"It's okay Miss Johanna, she just wanted to help me" Smiled (Name), Nightwing has no clue on how mice could help someone but he doesn't pry, the children, including (Name) is getting in the car

"Can I trust you to keep you and the children safe back to their homes?" Asked Nightwing

"Yes you can, I'll protect them" she playfully answered and looked back at the children lovingly

Seems trustworthy enough.

And the car takes off

Then (Name) entered the dining area, covered in dirt, sand and a little soaked, "Alfred.. can I have a towel?" He asked politely "I'm going to wash up, the sand is a bit itchy"

"wow... You're dirty, anything interesting happen today?" Snarked Damian, you lit up a bit, completely missing his insult "Yeah! I went out with my friends and I met Nightwing!"

"tch, Robin is cooler" Damian replied

"(Name), do you have any friends here in the city?" Jason suddenly asked, (Name) looked surprised that he was speaking to him but answered nonetheless "The kids here are bit mean... And bullies, so umm no, but I've made three friends, they're from another city, they're really nice"

"But you can't hangout with them often if they're far away?" Tim laments

Well your kid has signed a contract with elfs, has been haunted by marra's they eventually defeated, flown in the sky by riding Woff's, helped dispute a misunderstanding between a city and trolls and more to come

And here the reader has friends aka Hilda, Frieda and David

And they met each other because of shenanigans, let's say Hilda and her friends got in trouble with the nowherespace and it sent them to Gotham, specifically (Name)'s room in the Wayne manor and they became friends with (Name) traveling from Gotham to Trollberg via nowherespace

And it like starts adventures from there, I don't think I'd be able to make a full blown series, I'll make like scenarios of it
