Research Objectives
Research objectives are one of the most important parts of research. According to Farrugia and colleagues (2010), objectives of the research define the specific aims of the study. Basically, it describes what the researcher wants to achieve by conducting the research. Personally, I think the objectives are the backbone of the research in which the methodology and results rely on. Before any researcher can proceed with conducting the research proper, they must first determine the research objectives in order to move forward with the investigation. When the objectives have been properly determined, conducting the research will go smoothly, and the researchers will be able to appropriately defend their paper during defense.
Project objectives and research objectives are similar in a way that both represent the goal of the project or research. However, the main difference between the two is that research objectives are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound (Bjerke & Renger, 2017).
To cite an example, in our group, one research objective we have determined for our research paper is: 'To determine the best practices and essential services of selected Primary HIV Care Centers in Cebu and their effects on patient satisfaction and trust.'
As observed, the research objective stated is specific—it means that it is stated clearly what we are really after in our research paper. It is also measurable, attainable, and realistic—which means that the action can be measured and it is something we are capable of conducting, as well as realistic given the realities occurring in our community about HIV patients.
As I have mentioned in the first paragraph, research objectives are truly important. Because of its importance in conducting a research investigation, it is only right to make correct and proper research objectives.

Mission, Vision, Goals
Vision
My personal vision is to become a competent doktor para sa bayan that focuses on giving treatment to Filipino people with little to no accessibility to basic healthcare. As someone who used to live in a small rural town that only has access to one doctor in the area and a current medical student in CNU-VSMMC College of Medicine, I feel like it is now my own duty to provide healthcare to that small town in the future as a licensed doctor, and be able to catalyze change in the community in the aspect of healthcare by delivering the best healthcare treatment and innovation I can give.
Mission
My personal mission, in order to achieve the vision that I have for myself, is to give my best in my current studies as a medical student. I will not only be learning from books and lectures, but also by participating in community extensions and medical missions that the college and the student council will be conducting. With this, I will be able to master both the lessons and skills, and acquire the attitude a competent and humble doctor should have.
CMO 18 series of 2016 and CNU-VSMMC College of Medicine
Both the CMO 18 series of 2016 and the CNU-VSMMC College of Medicine, have similar vision and mission statements since they both prioritize giving the scholars the opportunity to serve the underserved Filipino people from far flung areas with little accessibility to healthcare. This is perfect for me because I, too, aim to prioritize those same group of people. With CHED and CNU-VSMMC College of Medicine going hand-in-hand with the same vision and mission for the scholars and our country, and with the same amount of effort from my side, surely, I will be able to become a doktor that the bayan needs.
Moreover, in the CMO 18 series of 2016, they have enlisted program outcomes specific to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program. These outcomes are a set of attributes that they want the scholar to exhibit as a doktor para sa bayan. Shown in the table below are the listed program outcomes, as well as the things that I can do as a medical student to achieve such outcomes, indicating those that can be achieved through engagement in health research activities.
