After a long wait, finally, last week, I had my virtual graduation ceremony. I was honored to deliver a speech as a graduate student, on the occasion, addressed to the graduating class of 2020.

For the occasion, I was inspired to write this poem and ended my speech with these words. 🎓

Join us this coming Thursday at the Rayvolt heaquarters in Bird street Stellenbosch to celebrate the Class of 2020. Stellenbosch Salon features some of the best work from Stellenbosch University fine arts graduates of 2020. These talented artists had to endure the Corona induced madness that swept the globe and still managed to come out on top. In stead of caving under the pressure they used the pandemic as a tool for creativity. The story behind this photo:

I graduated during the pandemic when everything was shut down. This is a charcoal drawing of me, on the day of my graduation. Fortunately, I did get to do the walk. It was short and sweet with no long speeches and no crowds, just merely a few teachers and my mother.
