I had to tear apart my tank to get a sick fish out of the tank and I'm exhausted and tired and frustrated
I was gonna try to do a super productive clean of the house today and then my plans got torn apart (like the aquarium I had to tear apart (due to the sick fish))
Anyway now I need to either put the tank back together (because I needed to tear it apart (because the fish is sick)) or keep some of the decorations out so I can take a closer look at the other fish in the display tank (which is torn apart (on account of the sick fish))

On the topic of fish diseases, here's a few fun ones that might be interesting to modify to fit CD. NO PRESSURE but food for thought
Columnaris: bacterial infection that can cause white cotton lookin growths in the gills and mouth, discoloration, lesions along the body
Dropsy: kidneys fail and the fish starts accumulating fluid and puff up. The scales raise like a pinecone. The swim bladder fails and the fish can't float/sink at will
Fish fungus: an injury gets infected and grows cottony fungus along the old scars
Velvet: a rusty flaky scaly lookin disease with black spots appearing amid the rusty flaky scales
Anchor worms: worms attack fins/tail and can be seen hanging off/trailing from the fish
There's treatments to everything but if untreated can be deadly, and super fuckin contagious in a lot of cases. Consider? A ship on a hunting trip happens to bring an infected sailor on board, and the symptoms show up when they're days away from help. Maybe it's standard practice to have a first aid kit of cures on board, maybe they don't have cures on board and the crew is struggling to make it back to land before they all die :)
Just food for thought
OOOHHH YOUR BRAIN IS LITERALLY SO MASSIVE FOR THIS ACTUALLY im putting all of these ideas in my mouth

Fouquieria columnaris
You might be forgiven if you think this plant looks like a bad-hair-day with insignificant flowers - but it is actually a young Boojum Tree (called a cirio in Spanish), an iconic plant of central Baja California. A mature plant can reach a height of 70 feet (20 m), with its fat base tapering to a whip-like tip. Its flowers may not be all that showy, but we are very excited that it produced them, since this is its first time doing so. It belongs to the same genus as the ocotillo.

i had one betta that died from unknown causes, my only guess is old age because he got very lethargic for several months before kicking the bucket and i couldn’t find anything else wrong with him. tried various forms of enrichment, varying his diet, checked for every illness i could find online, ect..
one betta died from columnaris. another died from getting something stuck in his gill and, i shit you not, suggestions for a similar case i found in a forum were to knock him out by dumping nyquil straight into the tank and pulling the foreign object out with tweezers.
one died from getting grossly overfed by my housemate. my last one had an issue with his gill jutting out from the time i got him, his health suddenly declined and i put him down.

I know I’m being depressing but please root for my betta fish. He’s fighting Columnaris and I’m doing absolutely everything I can for him. Even if this is the end for him (Which I’m hoping not!) I think we still have plenty of time together! He’s on antibiotics and I’m willing to spend however much time and money I can for him.
