Day 3 in Myanmar - Bagan: In Bagan, our food journey was really nice because of the authentic traditional Burmese recipes with a twist of western influence, and those are all vegan. We had ordered La Pitapas that had pita bread accompanied with different types of hummus – one with a Burmese twist as well. We also had Rice with Burmese curry made of cauliflowers. Country 7: 🇰🇪 Can you spot the hippos on the other side of the river? Yes, they were our neighbors while we stayed in Olarro Private Campsite in Maasai Mara Triangle, Kenya. We loved the place and can't get over it. Maasai Mara has one of the highest concentration of the Big 5 along with many other species. When we were young, we would be mesmerized by the content on Discovery and Animal Planet. It was a bucketlist item to see the animals in their natural habitat. Going vegan never felt better - we eventually form a deep bond with animals. Animals look so peaceful and non-violent when free. Day 3 in Myanmar - Bagan: The Mandalay to Bagan MGRG Express boat departs from Mandalay jetty in the early morning. Day 2 in Myanmar - Mandalay: Located in Amarapura, 11 km far from the south of Mandalay city, Mahagandayon Monastery is the most prominent monastic college from we learnt more about the monks' education. Thousands of monks stay here and study Buddhism. We were not only fascinated by the majesty of the place but its peace. This monastery is famous for its strict religious disciplines. The young monks must learn 227 steps required of the monks. It takes 7 to 10 years for a complete education from Mahagandayon monastery. Day 2 in Myanmar - Mandalay: One of the most important temples in Myanmar is Mahamuni Pagoda that has a 13-ft tall seated Buddha with a 6-in layer of pure gold that is applied by male devotees over centuries. Day 1 in Myanmar - Mandalay: This was our first time in Myanmar and we were not sure how vegan friendly the country is. Day 1 in Myanmar - Mandalay: It was our first day in Myanmar and while we were exploring Mandalay, we saw many female faces with some white colored design on them. They looked differently pretty. Outside Sandmuni Pagoda, I asked a woman what is it? She, with a smiling face, put the design on me. Maybe she didn't understand that I just wanted to know what's it called. Our local driver told us it's called Thanaka. Thanaka is an ancient secret of beauty of Burmese people since thousands of years. It is a yellowish-white cosmetic paste made from ground bark. Day 1 in Myanmar - Mandalay: The #Sandamunipagoda in #Mandalay is known for its large golden chedi, its hundreds of shrines containing inscribed marble slabs, and the largest iron Buddha image in Burma, the Sandamani, after which it is named. The oldest structure on the grounds is the golden chedi. Surrounding the central pagoda are 1774 shrines, each housing a single marble slab.
