I honestly debated drawing about the Boys Locker room incident. But a flood of information on my newsfeed and conversations with friends about this, got me to draw this. The chats on that group are disgusting and when I thought about it I realised this is our second encounter with underage boys making such groups in the past three months. If so many our showing up, how many really are there and why are boys so numbed to be able to talk this way? And the answer always lies at home, within those first teaching years. Why do we say girls mature emotionally faster? It's not just a scientific fact, it's to do with the burden of knowledge and precautions we're loaded with right at a young age. While boys are allowed to grow up recklessly and without responsibility, girls are taught to beware of strangers, to pull our skirts down, to be careful around all men even your father (yes a certain teacher of mine told me this) Girls are made to feel like they are responsible for what happens, even before boys are even considered to be educated about the same. WHY? New parents read @regajha post and educate your son's the same way you would your daughters. There's a real need for a change in the mindset, of both genders clearly. And it starts at home. A few weeks ago at the beginning stages of the lockdown, I was feeling zoned out and honestly largely disconnected from my art and the community at large. I then had the idea of connecting with some of the artists I know. I had no clue how we would collaborate over cities worldwide, so I started with just asking them how they were quarantining. Though my initial prompt was for them to draw their "quarantine buddy" it evolved into the question, "What is your quarantine mood?" The way in which each artist responded and the individual style and process they took was amazing.
