Follow @urbandesign.lab Quartier Havelwiesen A development of both city and nature for the future. Together with MLA+ we have won the assignment for a climate adaptive masterplan for "Quartier Havelwiesen" in Brandenburg Germany. The plan focuses on bringing back the landscape into urban developments, with an integrated approach to extend nature into the city. This way we combine city, water and nature in one structure, to create a place for flora, fauna, and all generations of people. The meadow landscape along the river becomes the basis for the design and refers to the original character of the area. The new vision finds a careful balance of giving space for river and nature to thrive, while also finding places of interaction, where people and nature can come together. Follow @urbandesign.lab Garden Rift Tower On the Detroit Riverwalk, a fine coppery dress appears on the docks and highlights the skyline. This steel ribbon dances with the public space. It connects with the park by enveloping it and accompanying it to the heart of the project. Isolated between infrastructures and the TCF Center, the intervention site does not seem to have a direct link with the city. However, on the edge of the Detroit Riverwalk, this place, between the Capitol Park Historic District and the West Side Industrial, is located on the aim of one of Detroit’s main historical axes: The Washington Boulevard. It is the collision between Detroit Riverwalk Park and the historic axis that creates a new urban polarity: The Garden Rift Tower. The Washington Boulevard breakthrough connects the project to the city and creates a large entrance to allow the landscape to flow into the central place of the project, around which the various parts of the program gravitate. This shimmering and dynamic shape is the symbol of Detroit’s renewal: A city that relies on its past to build its future. Project by : @atelier.metaa DM for credits/Removal.
