 TRAVELING OFFICE A UNIVERSAL CONNECTOR OF TIME

 Imagine if you could work with your colleges from all over the world, every day, physically.

In the morning when you enter your work in for instance Brussels, your college from London, New York or even Beijing could be present and available for you to join at the same desk. If companies no longer had to be located in offices in the largest cities in the world, but instead in a travelling office that’s going around the world in about 8.5 hours. In this way the utopian form of this connectivity becomes reality.

This train powered by electrical magnetic fields and going at about the speed of sound, makes it possible to overlap work hours of people in every corner of the world. By connecting the different continents work hours and typical day patterns become interchangeable. Like this different time zones become universally connected. The Universal Time Connector changes in this way all perception of place and time.

“Ansel Adams Center”, Carmel, California, USA [1985] _ Architect: James Wines [SITE].

"The Ansel Adams Center is a winning competition entry for a building that functions as a center for the study, exhibition, and production of creative photography and serves as a permanent tribute to the achievements of Ansel Adams. The entire building has been conceived as a segment of a meadow that has been displayed, elevated, and utilized as a shelter. 

Describing the structure from a narrative standpoint, it appears as though an incision has been made in the surface of the meadow and a massive plane of grass field tilted upward to form an inclined roof. In order to allow an elevated feeling and the penetration of light, a second trapezoidal section of the raised meadow has been cut away from the front elevation and slanted in the opposite direction. This second plane forms a covering for an entry plaza and establishes a camera-like shape for the total building, suggesting conditions of optical perspective.

In order to sustain the two principal themes - landscape as building and optical/camera references - the actual perimeter walls of the building are intended to function as a kind of nonarchitecture, or merely as a means of establishing the enclosure wherein the phenomenon of the elevated meadow takes place. In concert with this ephemeral purpose, the walls are made of glass and articulated in a classical grid of five-by-five-foot modules."

sleeping competition_alternative designs for hotels

spring 2016; organiser: non architecture competitions with G. Schiesaro, A. Sertorelli, R. Scarvaci listed among the 50 finalists, published in the nonarchitecture publications_1_Sleeping; 2016

This is a design concept elaborated with G. Schiesaro, A. Sertorelli and R. Scarvaci for the first Non Architecture competition with the theme: Sleeping. alternative designs for hotels. A reflection about the essential services provided by hotels led us to discuss about the concept of sleeping. In our three panels, we proposed a hotel equally diffused around the globe. The sleeping facilities, represented by a door, are accessible to everyone equally and indistinctly and they elevate the sleeping to an inalienable right – so not related to property.
