One gripe I have is when people defend Eridan Ampora by saying he singlehandedly was keeping Alternia alive. Like, sure I can break bread with you and agree that yeah it is fucked up Eridan was 13 and had to help keep the planet not from dying but like it wasn't his noble sacrifice????
He was explicitly doing it because he wanted to get in Feferi's good books to become her matesprit, speaking of which, Feferi was the one doing the noble duty of actually feeding her Lusus so Alternia doesn't die, and she most definitely could of been the orphaner herself, I'd go as far to say that she had it worse because all likeliness is, in a sgrubless world, she'd do all this and THEN GET KILLED
I'm not going to get into the fact that he definitely was enjoying killing those lusii
If you wanna convince that Eridan's situation was rough, you already have me convinced, the guy lived alone with 1 failing quadrant and a friendship group who hates his gut, risking his life for a girl who didn't really like him that much in a society that kills people without lovers. Yeah, that's fucked up.
But for the love of god stop trying to convince me that he was some angelic saint from above who did nothing wrong. Like the amporas, sure I'm not gonna stop you, but like them for who they are. Total asshole losers. They are not good people and you should like them FOR THAT not this made up fanon woobified version you have in your head

Absolute theory/headcanon/analysis/general idea legend whatudottu character arc of slowly becoming one of the four (4) Cerebrocrustacean fans in the entire fandom (even if Petrosapiens will always be #1 in its heart, which, you know, completely understandable NGL) let’s gooooo!
Also I can’t believe I haven’t made this connection until now but:
Cerebrocrustacean: “My people have a rich and complex history and culture, but most of the galactic audience boils us down to being nothing but ‘the violently bigoted xenophobes who keep destroying their own planet’ and it frustrates me to no end.”
Gourmand who’s been forced to hear the same “I can excuse cannibalism but I draw the line at marrying outside of your own race” joke over and over again: “Yeah, welcome to the club, pal.”
Me and my homies (4) being cerebrocrustacean fans: If cerebrocrustaceans have 0 fans we are dead, haha- Would buy merchandise to convince CN that Brainstorm is a cool transformation *looks over my shoulder to see the playdough brainstorm with removable brain toy that either I or my sibling got millions of years ago*
ANYWAY!
It's very evident when I don't think about a particular species when I have to look something up like the gourmand cannibalism, but seeing as though they have a collective pocket dimension where their stomach goes (at least that's where the logic got them in the show instead of being consumed food expelled in energy reflux), if cannibalism didn't implode the two gourmands like how bag of holding inception works then I suppose it's far better than *shudders* perk murk relationships. Got a whole 'house divided' 'alike in dignity' situation over here, Perkulet and Murktague having asses-
...You know what if I get a chance to think about gourmands in more detail I might turn that pocket dimension into a magic thing instead of a xenobiology thing that's just overall bullshit- comes free with potentially real cannibalism but like they've eaten 11 planets I think cannibalism just in general pales in comparison to what they could do-
Well, whatever cannibalism gourmands excuse and all the jokes they have to deal with about perk murk relationships being somehow much much worse, at least they don't get shoveled with 'violent bigots' that 'aren't smart enough to support their lifestyle without destroying their own planet' which well- I don't have any present headcanons as to why Encephalonus is on it's 4th edition yet but let me tell you, when cerebrocrutaceans found out the galvans lost their planet (admittedly to the Highbreed Invasion) and then galvans WEREN'T immediately assumed to have fucked up somewhere, you can bet that Dr Psychobos was one in the crowd that went absolutely livid.
#ask#anonymous#cerebrocrustacean#gourmand#ben 10#also i wasn't kidding when i said i had that toy he's kinda sitting on a bench that admittedly has a lot of other ben 10 toys#childhood stuff mostly but hey just means i've been into ben 10 for a while... but there's no diamondhead to speak of#<- joined ben 10 on complete dvd set of os + started af with a disc from a kids magazine with a season 1 sneak peak#anyway today i learnt that gourmand physiology has some bullshit in it so now that's potentially on my mutants and magic list to change#potentially since the revelation was a shotgun blast to the face of 'oh right yeah THAT'#maybe gourmands can be a little bit termite in addition to being amoeba and frogs- the queen being bigger than them would make sense#and then because peptos has been eaten like 11 times now we know what constantly keeps happening to gourmand's planet#not to be a killjoy nerd here but a quick solution to encephalonus iv's name is to be the 4th planet to the star encephalonus which-#would be how cerebrocrustaceans may consider naming the planets in their solar system#as opposed to coming up with more creative names like greek gods- anatomy- and dirt#and like it would make the stereotype just absolutely worse because cerebrocrustaceans don't even have a dead planet let alone 3#'why do you assume we destroyed our planet we're just the 4th planet in the solar system' they shout#but really i'm just positing that as my way of saying 'i haven't thought it through yet'#maybe they've been experimenting with artificial planets- the mega-ist of megastructures#it's just that the 4th one is the most recent and hopeful not inefficient model#maybe they have farmed up all the resources of their several planets- draining them dry like how billionares on earth want to#idk maybe it's both- they went too far with the first- tried to delay the second- decided to make a third but it broke- 4th time's the char#so far- at least#you know what i think i just answered my own question yeah i'll do that one#shortterm thinking got the first planet destroyed- forgot longterm thinking for second- made a shortterm solution the third-#and now the fourth time they're really hoping that history and longterm planning helps them this time around

@dimensionalspades said: ❝  was this not what you expected?  ❞ (to Fade from Sova)
Tumblr media
"Usually when I'm called, I expect it to be related to work." Call it habit or caution, she wasn't exactly the Protocol's favorite and for good reason, she understands. The awkward air that lingers between halls whenever her name hangs over it has mostly thinned but that didn't mean lingering grudges were as kind. Fade had grown used to her presence being called by necessity rather than anything influenced by pleasure. Casual invites were usually only ever extended by Amir or at times, Omen, whenever available. Outside of them the newest agents were oblivious to her infamous greeting, therefore their unexpected, casual attitudes always conflicted with what she was used to. Suddenly her routines of lurking and quietly existing within the barracks was disturbed by oblivion and innocent intentions.
Odd.
Tumblr media
Now she stands with a brow raised, hands shoved in the pockets of elaborate loungewear while her shoulder presses against the threshold that holds her weight. Eyes fall on the meal in front of her and the aroma tickles the underside of her nose before her eyes even need to acknowledge its source. Her gaze peels itself from the food to the man that presumably prepared it with a mild shift in expression displaying hints of disbelief. "Is this an invitation?" The question is genuine, still practicing caution even as its sat right in front of her. The night is still young (by her standards) and Sova's conveniently caught her appetite before she has a chance to put her own dinner preparations to work. Through convenience and curiosity, she's inclined to indulge.

Genocide experts warn that India is about to genocide the Shompen people
Who are the Shompen?
The Shompen are an indigenous culture that lives in the Great Nicobar Island, which is nowadays owned by India. The Shompen and their ancestors are believed to have been living in this island for around 10,000 years. Like other tribes in the nearby islands, the Shompen are isolated from the rest of the world, as they chose to be left alone, with the exception of a few members who occasionally take part in exchanges with foreigners and go on quarantine before returning to their tribe. There are between 100 and 400 Shompen people, who are hunter-gatherers and nomadic agricultors and rely on their island's rainforest for survival.
Tumblr media
Why is there risk of genocide?
India has announced a huge construction mega-project that will completely change the Great Nicobar Island to turn it into "the Hong Kong of India".
Nowadays, the island has 8,500 inhabitants, and over 95% of its surface is made up of national parks, protected forests and tribal reserve areas. Much of the island is covered by the Great Nicobar Biosphere Reserve, described by UNESCO as covering “unique and threatened tropical evergreen forest ecosystems. It is home to very rich ecosystems, including 650 species of angiosperms, ferns, gymnosperms, and bryophytes, among others. In terms of fauna, there are over 1800 species, some of which are endemic to this area. It has one of the best-preserved tropical rain forests in the world.”
The Indian project aims to destroy this natural environment to create an international shipping terminal with the capacity to handle 14.2 million TEUs (unit of cargo capacity), an international airport that will handle a peak hour traffic of 4,000 passengers and that will be used as a joint civilian-military airport under the control of the Indian Navy, a gas and solar power plant, a military base, an industrial park, and townships aimed at bringing in tourism, including commercial, industrial and residential zones as well as other tourism-related activities.
This project means the destruction of the island's pristine rainforests, as it involves cutting down over 852,000 trees and endangers the local fauna such as leatherback turtles, saltwater crocodiles, Nicobar crab-eating macaque and migratory birds. The erosion resulting from deforestation will be huge in this highly-seismic area. Experts also warn about the effects that this project will have on local flora and fauna as a result of pollution from the terminal project, coastal surface runoff, ballasts from ships, physical collisions with ships, coastal construction, oil spills, etc.
The indigenous people are not only affected because their environment and food source will be destroyed. On top of this, the demographic change will be a catastrophe for them. After the creation of this project, the Great Nicobar Island -which now has 8,500 inhabitants- will receive a population of 650,000 settlers. Remember that the Shompen and Nicobarese people who live on this island are isolated, which means they do not have an immune system that can resist outsider illnesses. Academics believe they could die of disease if they come in contact with outsiders (think of the arrival of Europeans to the Americas after Christopher Columbus and the way that common European illnesses were lethal for indigenous Americans with no immunization against them).
And on top of all of this, the project might destroy the environment and the indigenous people just to turn out to be useless and sooner or later be abandoned. The naturalist Uday Mondal explains that “after all the destruction, the financial viability of the project remains questionable as all the construction material will have to be shipped to this remote island and it will have to compete with already well-established ports.” However, this project is important to India because they want to use the island as a military and commercial post to stop China's expansion in the region, since the Nicobar islands are located on one of the world's busiest sea routes.
Last year, 70 former government officials and ambassadors wrote to the Indian president saying the project would “virtually destroy the unique ecology of this island and the habitat of vulnerable tribal groups”. India's response has been to say that the indigenous tribes will be relocated "if needed", but that doesn't solve the problem. As a spokesperson for human rights group Survival International said: “The Shompen are nomadic and have clearly defined territories. Four of their semi-permanent settlements are set to be directly devastated by the project, along with their southern hunting and foraging territories. The Shompen will undoubtedly try to move away from the area destroyed, but there will be little space for them to go. To avoid a genocide, this deadly mega-project must be scrapped.”
On 7 February 2024, 39 scholars from 13 countries published an open letter to the Indian president warning that “If the project goes ahead, even in a limited form, we believe it will be a death sentence for the Shompen, tantamount to the international crime of genocide.”
How to help
The NGO Survival International has launched this campaign:
From this site, you just need to add your name and email and you will send an email to India's Tribal Affairs Minister and to the companies currently vying to build the first stage of the project.
Share it with your friends and acquittances and on social media.

·       Cost savings:
Full solar systems are appealing because they offer considerable cost reductions. With solar panels, households may generate electricity and cut their monthly energy bills in half. This financial relief frees budgets and provides long-term security when energy prices vary. Homes can accurately calculate their energy needs and build solar systems that save the most money without losing performance with professional support.
·       Energy Independence:
A complete solar system for the home allows users to control their energy use and reduce their dependence on non-regenerating sources. Solar power helps homeowners become energy-independent and protect themselves from the uncertain energy market. This enhanced independence improves financial stability and promotes sustainability and self-sufficiency. They ensure households have all the tools and support they need to move to renewable energy smoothly.
·       Environmental Impact:
It's tough to overstate how much entire solar systems aid Earth. Solar energy is clean, renewable, and emits little hazardous gases. Switching to solar power can significantly reduce carbon emissions and climate impact. Every solar system that Alliant Renewables puts in helps protect the environment for future generations.
·       Increased Property Value:
Installing a comprehensive solar system saves money, helps the environment, and increases house value. Solar-powered homes sell faster and for more money, according to studies. It makes the house worth more than what they paid for the panels, so the owners get a good return on their money. With professional expertise, homeowners can capitalise on this trend and maximise home sales.
·       Government incentives:
World governments are increasingly offering rebates and other incentives to adopt renewable energy sources like solar electricity. These perks can further reduce installation costs for homeowners who install a full solar system. Tax subsidies and feed-in tariffs make solar energy cheaper and easier for all homeowners. The knowledgeable personnel can help residents comprehend incentive packages to save the most money and maximise solar energy use.

So Venus is my favorite planet in the solar system - everything about it is just so weird.
Tumblr media
It has this extraordinarily dense atmosphere that by all accounts shouldn't exist - Venus is close enough to the sun (and therefore hot enough) that the atmosphere should have literally evaporated away, just like Mercury's. We think Earth manages to keep its atmosphere by virtue of our magnetic field, but Venus doesn't even have that going for it. While Venus is probably volcanically active, it definitely doesn't have an internal magnetic dynamo, so whatever form of volcanism it has going on is very different from ours. And, it spins backwards! For some reason!!
But, for as many mysteries as Venus has, the United States really hasn't spent much time investigating it. The Soviet Union, on the other hand, sent no less than 16 probes to Venus between 1961 and 1984 as part of the Venera program - most of them looked like this!
Tumblr media
The Soviet Union had a very different approach to space than the United States. NASA missions are typically extremely risk averse, and the spacecraft we launch are generally very expensive one-offs that have only one chance to succeed or fail.
It's lead to some really amazing science, but to put it into perspective, the Mars Opportunity rover only had to survive on Mars for 90 days for the mission to be declared a complete success. That thing lasted 15 years. I love the Opportunity rover as much as any self-respecting NASA engineer, but how much extra time and money did we spend that we didn't technically "need" to for it to last 60x longer than required?
Anyway, all to say, the Soviet Union took a more incremental approach, where failures were far less devastating. The Venera 9 through 14 probes were designed to land on the surface of Venus, and survive long enough to take a picture with two cameras - not an easy task, but a fairly straightforward goal compared to NASA standards. They had…mixed results.
Venera 9 managed to take a picture with one camera, but the other one's lens cap didn't deploy.
Venera 10 also managed to take a picture with one camera, but again the other lens cap didn't deploy.
Venera 11 took no pictures - neither lens cap deployed this time.
Venera 12 also took no pictures - because again, neither lens cap deployed.
Lotta problems with lens caps.
For Venera 13 and 14, in addition to the cameras they sent a device to sample the Venusian "soil". Upon landing, the arm was supposed to swing down and analyze the surface it touched - it was a simple mechanism that couldn't be re-deployed or adjusted after the first go.
This time, both lens caps FINALLY ejected perfectly, and we were treated to these marvelous, eerie pictures of the Venus landscape:
Tumblr media
However, when the Venera 14 soil sampler arm deployed, instead of sampling the Venus surface, it managed to swing down and land perfectly on….an ejected lens cap.

Get the Benefits of Complete Solar Systems in Vaughan
Do you wish to install a solar energy system in your commercial and residential space in Vaughan, Canada? Well. There are several service providers available in the market who is readily serving the needs of customers for quality solar systems.
Go for quality solar panels.
If you are interested, you should go for the best quality solar panels made to withstand the local weather conditions in the area. The panel can be installed on the rooftop of the building or in ground-mounted frames. Here, the panels vary depending on the consumption of energy and even available space.
Look into the mounting structure.
If you're installing complete solar systems in Vaughan on the building rooftop, the mounting set-up must be securely joined with the panels. For the systems that are ground-mounted, the frames would be set up at the right angle for exposure to the sun.
Inverter
An inverter grid-tied can convert the DC electricity created by the solar panels into AC electricity. It remains compatible with the local electrical grid in the area.
Get the net metre.
For proper grid-tied systems, it is essential to install the net metre. It is important to calculate whether the electricity feeds into the grid or comes out of it. The process helps you take advantage of the net metering programmes they offer.
Essential Monitoring System
The system would give real-time data on the system's performance and let you track the energy's production to detect problems and manage efficiency.

"Do you really think so?" He isn't exactly taking it as seriously as his steady tone may imply, attempting to make a joke of her sarcastic comment. Laundry was a decent distraction but in reality he knew that they were in hot water here. His anxieties about the situations were buried deep beneath his plain, stoic façade and strange sense of humor. Removing his emotions from the situation now came as naturally as he could manage after being force fed the harsh truths over and over and over again in his childhood. The memory is quickly dismissed almost as quickly as it comes.
A chuckle, his humor reached her after all. "Oh, and here I was, excited to witness your talent first hand by listening to your interpretation of this strange phenomenon in song. What a shame." He attempts to strike again, albeit dryly as he makes his rounds and decides there's nothing of note to draw him to any sort of exit here. They've made sure not to be sloppy with their work this time, he shouldn't underestimate the company, given they raised him. "I didn't find anything suspicious here, should we check elsewhere?"

going insane thinking about the harrow and palamedes friendship. harrow, who has never met another necromancer her age forming a bizarro 3D chess rivalry while pal worries about her safety at every possible turn. harrow, who is up to her eyebrows in paranoia and secrecy, trusting the sixth house with gideon unconscious and hurt, letting them into the ninth house quarters unsupervised. if “i cannot conceive of a universe without you in it” is goth for i love you, “death first to vultures and scavengers” has got to be goth for i love you (platonic). pal’s first reaction when harrow comes into his bubble in the river is to scoop her up in a hug, and at this point she doesn’t remember anything about him because cutting out all her memories of gideon is impossible without cutting out memories of the sixth, but she still makes him a skelehand to inhabit anyway. when harrow’s memories are finally whole, she tells dulcinea she couldn’t face pal knowing that his pen pal girlfriend died on her account, but the next time she “faces” him, palamades’s soul is in someone else’s body and harrow’s body is full of nona’s soul. he spends six months protecting and caring for harrow’s body (and nona obv), believing in the possibility of bringing her back to it the same way cam believed in him. “god, do you know i miss harrow terribly.” and by the time harrow comes back to her body at the very end of ntn, pal is gone forever, fully pauled. the last time harrow and palamades see each other as their complete selves is in canaan house, alive and unlyctored. two of the smartest and loneliest people in the solar system meet each other in the worst of circumstances and spend the rest of the story dancing around each other as fragments of themselves, trying to care about each other in the interim but never fully meeting like they did the first time. a friendship made almost entirely of missing the other person. “do you know i miss harrow terribly.” god. i need to lie down
