Abe has anorexia. Bad to the point his ribs show and he passes out in class. Only time he remember meals is with Topher,Joan,or his mom. Identity issues due to being obsessed with his clone father and wanting to be just Like him. S/A victim and blames himself. Even if it was Tophers idea.

Joan self harms by burning herself. Internilized transphobia I feel HEAVY internilized ableism. Blames toots death one herself and often disociates. Depressed but good at hiding (for the Lost part)

Confucious has def attempted to khs for attention. He has actively harmed himself for views/fame. He has really bad realationship with his sister due to his parents favortism towards them.

Topher has a mix of binge Eating, bulimia, and Pica. He Harms himself by bashing his head into Tables/walls, also scratching his arms raw. He used to cut himself but after being put into the phych ward one too many times he found ways to sh without "permanent" scars. Severe Daddy issues. had an abusive father in the past.Sex trafficked /prostitution ay a Young Abe and blames himself more Than his rapist,even acting as if it was his choice. Regrets people finding out because he "misses the money/gifts"(hence why hed use it as blackmail for Abe despiste going through it himself) he has a mouthgaurd so his teeth dont get damaged from his stomach acid

Hey so jttw does explore tang sanzang arc

Hes is a mostly static character but he does actually develop subtly. He supposed represent confucious ideal in a person (i may b incorrect but he is a representation of a ideal. Hence why swk is far more flexible n able to lean more about the sutras better than he did)

This guy was in his twenties when this whole shebang started n up facing traumatic things back to back. (From seeing how ppl get brutalizing murder, to ppl wanting to kill/eat him, to ppl trying to sexually assault him and sm more) He was naive at the start but remember he almost got killed by swk in the beginning.

I think most ppl believe he does the spelll daily to the point where swk passe from the pain but that not happen in the book.(in the book itself swk doesnt pass from the pain, its in different media but not in the book) what he does do is use it multiple times a and then proceed to never use it in months and in years. (Bc while yes the arc seem back to back, its actually years and months that happened in between changing from from arc to the next)

Alot of the times when the circlet is used theres is a background reason why he has done it. (Like in true and false monkey arc: where they are trying to find the real swk but it didn’t work bc LEMH copied swk perfectly. This tends to happen alot in the book where a character transforms into swk n copy him to a T.) He doesn’t abused that in a day to day basis. (none of the pilgrims would have been comfortable had tang sanzang abused it not even zhu bajie. Who also went tru a character arc) its not great that he does it all in one go but its better than what most ppl presume he does. Theres post going around that explains the wbs arc and why zhu bajie was being a ass there ao im not explaining that.

Seriously ends up feeling guilty for not bringing anything to the table while his pilgrims are going around getting supplies. He goes like “please do not mind my disciples, theyre are good people even if theyre ugly af”

His character arc is way in the background even he is a static character. Since jttw is more so in your face about sun wukong character development.

i've started rereading the book again since my class assignment revolves around it and i wanted to have more information on sanzang since i'm doing a character analysis on him and i have noticed most of the things above

the part where you explained how he used the curcit and the time between each installment makes a lot more sense, since it was kind of concerning that a buddhist, someone who is supposed to be peaceful and hate inflicting pain on others, uses it as often as sanzang has within the novel

How to Handle Intercultural Communication - from an Idahoan

I would love to have a vacation in China for two weeks or less, but I would personally struggle a substantial amount if I was moving to China for an extended period of time. If I lived in China for a year or more, I know I'd have a lot of cultural dissimilarities to adapt to, no matter how uncomfortable these changes may be. I would expect to have social, work life, and general living challenges in adapting to Chinese Culture. As I mentioned in my previous blog posts, Chinese work habits revolve around keeping the peace. Their practice for bringing up ideas to a superior should be handled in an out-of-office gathering. This is unlike the American culture of uncomfortable growth meetings during working hours. I would have to remind myself that my main goal of work relationships is to preserve the name and reputation of the company. In my previous blog post, I also mentioned how their main religion or worldview was based on Confucious and his teachings. It would be a great challenge for me to adapt to those personality traits that're expressed in daily life. In being a fairly strong Roman Catholic, my attitude is slightly different in terms of will and a higher power. I would do my best to adapt to both of these separate cultural differences by making some good friends that would help me and keep me in line, both in my work and personal life.

In shifting gears to intercultural ethics, intercultural ethics is how you interact in an intercultural environment while being self-aware of and how you may affect the other person. One component to manage ethical components in intercultural exchanges, according to our textbook, Communication Between Cultures by Larry Samovar, is having respect for others. This means, not ignoring someone, respecting someone's boundaries, and being an advocate for helping in exchanges for Chinese American relations, specifically in my case that is. We can internalize a lot of accidental micro-aggressions, so we must be careful when interacting with individual people in order to not stereotype :) * thumbs up emoji *

There can be some strategies I can employ to stay connected and engaged with Chinese culture, while still maintain my studies in United States. I can update myself on current events and news by subscribing to news channels from China, and I recommend this to you as well. I can also keep up to date or maybe get creative with it by trying to learn Mandarin on Duolingo or any one of those language learning platforms. After this blog assignment is complete, I will still stay connected to Chinese Culture.

It gives me so much joy to see how much everyone loved the introduction to Chinese Astrology post. I was afraid no one would be interested! This post goes over the basic concepts of Chinese Cosmology which differs from Western Cosmology. Follow my masterlist for more posts on astrology and pick a card readings.

It would be very difficult to understand Feng Shui, Chinese Astrology and even Traditional Chinese Medicine without understanding Chinese Cosmology. Vital Breath called qi evolves from the chaos that we call space and time. The clear qi ascends and becomes Heaven Qi, the heavy or turbid qi descends and becomes Earth Qi. Heaven and Earth come together to make Yin and Yang. In turn, Yin and Yang create the 4 seasons: fall and winter are considered yin; spring and summer are considered Yang. Yang is hot and produces fire so it becomes the sun, Yin is cold and produces water so it becomes the moon. Heaven or Tian received the sun, moon, stars and other planets. Earth received rain and dust.

Two men, Gong Gong and Zhuan Xu battle each other to become Emperor. In the ensuing battle, the crashes together changed the world. Heaven with the stars, sun and moon tilts towards the northwest and the earth sank in the northeast which created inclines. And then like every other ancient civilization has documented - a great flood happened. The Chinese version of Genesis differs from the western version. There is no divine creator in the Chinese version and the universe is organic.

Heaven is the root of the yang and earth is the root of the yin. To understand the relationship between Heaven, Earth and Man one needs to look at the character for King (Wang) which has three parallel horizontal lines with one central vertical line connecting them. The three horizontal lines represent heaven, man and earth in that order; the vertical line represents the King. Since Man is the center line it plays an important role in the cosmos. Man balances heaven and earth which also represents yang and yin.

Equinoxes play a big role in Chinese Culture and are still celebrated today. The furthest point the sun reaches below the equator is known as the winter solstice. The furthest point the sun reaches above the equator is the summer solstice. The spring and autumn equinoxes are points where the sun crosses the equator. (Look at Pooh being excited that it's fall).

The roots of Chinese Astrology lies in the classical philosophies of Confucious and Lao Tzu. The book I Ching or Book of changes has insights into one’s lifestyle, fate, etc.

It is said that we are each born with a certain destiny in this lifetime (ming or ming yun). When events happen as intended, that is fate. Tian Ming (or heavenly fate) is our destiny and the big picture or roadmap of life on earth. Human Fate is the destiny born of the choices we make while living and the amount of effort we put in. Earth Fate or luck is manipulating our fate on earth through altering energy (for ex: feng shui).
