hi, so i’m kinda new to the fandom, and i was wondering if you could link me to some time of masterpost/timeline of who’s troye dated? from how i understand it, troye and tyler never actually dated, but troye was in love with tyler, then he started dating connor, then they broke up (btw do any of you guys have any theories why they did?) and then troye started dating his current bf, am i correct or did i get something wrong? also, is conler a thing? like are they dating or just friends? thanks!

disclaimer: everything you are about to read is based PURELY in theory as i will never truly know the exact timeline (also it’s a long post so beware) 

hi! so there isn’t a masterpost timeline that i know of, but i’m happy to make one for you! or at least..a mini-master-post haha 

ALRIGHT SO here’s what i know (based on tweets, pictures, videos, and just actually being there through it all): 

2013 

the year troyler became a thing, it was when tyler and troye did their first set of collabs and the ship started, and i wasn’t in the fandom quite yet, but it was still pretty present when i entered in later in early 2014

2014

as we all know, 2014 was the golden year of youtube, and at the beginning of 2014 troyler was still a very strong ship, with two sets of collabs going out (including ‘the boyfriend tag’ which had a lot of people speculating that they were dating, but i promise you, they never dated) and also the announcement of troye’s first single and EP occurred during this year 

ALSO during 2014 is when connor and troye started dating, it’s not quite sure when but my friend and i once did a HUGE analysis of their tweets and instagrams and our bet is that it happened on the big trip to italy in april 2014 but we can’t be sure 

however, at this time, troyler was still the prominent ship, as connor didn’t come out until the eND of 2014 so there was no viable reason to truly ship him and troye

2015

connor has come out as gay, there are a few more pictures surfacing of him and troye that aren’t as platonic as the ones from 2014 and bAM the ship tronnor is born except it’s kept completely under wraps, there is never ANY suggestion from either of them that they’re dating, it’s all based purely on speculation and a few key tweets that were only realized later on as being…soft evidence (tronnor isn’t fully realized until after it ends) 

2016

tronnor lasts until the very beginning of february, when it suddenly ends with troye being the one to call it off and go away on tour (it is unclear why he chose to do this, i have theories but none of them are valid enough to list out here, i also have like 2918 asks about my theories so i’ll address them there) and connor is heartbroken and depressed, and troye goes on the blue neighborhood tour

me personally, i didn’t realize tronnor was over until around april of 2016, when it became more and more obvious how sad connor was, through his tweets and instagram posts 

according to newfound evidence, i believe that troye starting dating jacob in march of 2016, and a few pictures of him start floating around in the summer of 2016, and this continues on throughout the year, with only a few solid photos that suggest a relationship coming out near the end of the year 

2017

this year is FULL of tracob, starting out small (albeit the heaven music video was pretty loud) and getting more and more obvious as time goes by, with more pictures being posted by either fans or friends of troye and jacob, to the pictures actually being posted by tracob themselves, to troye actually pretty much coming out and saying that he and jacob are dating (without ever using the word ‘boyfriend’ i’ll admit, but he was rEALLY obvious) 

2018

it has just begun, but now that promo for ts2 has begun, interviews have started happening, and questions are being asked, and troye is referring to jacob as his boyfriend now, the paps are referring to jacob as his boyfriend openly now, and with the release of new music, troye has FINALLY acknowledged his past with connor and their breakup, and all the loose ends have finally been tied, and we all have some closure 

-to answer your question about conler: 

no, they never dated, they’re just very close friends (or at least they were in 2016, but now that tyler and troye have reconnected i wonder if that has strained connor’s friendship with him, though i’d like to think it hasn’t) and any mention of them is usually in either a joking or platonic manner
