Anomaly D41 is so, so weird.

Basically its a .zip of a program called "ICS: Innovative Coding Stratagems" and all it does is allow you to make files in anomalous and as of yet unused file extension. If you find one of these in the wild, CALL YOUR LOCAL COMMITTEE SUPERVISOR.

yknow those funky cat on your screen things? webneko is a good example. that specific style of them, with that size and whatnot, dates to a bit of old japanese unix code called xneko. it was built for like really old unix graphical terminals, only supports monochromatic output, and so on.

unix interfaces live on in POSIX, which all the major *nix OSes conform to. which means if you track down the source code you could probably get it working

now, i didn't track down the original xneko code(although i don't doubt you could). I found a patch called oneko-sakura, which is itself a patch of oneko, itself a patch of xneko.

the code can be located here, and it compiles with no modifications on my modern archlinux system!! i used the following to compile:

gcc oneko.c -LXlib -lXinerama -lX11 -lm -lXext -lxcb -o neko -DSHAPE

the final -DSHAPE tells it to enable the "shape" extension code, which lets the sprite be non-square

all that being said:

so, couple things to note:

the program is, again, old. it has exclusive support for B&W display. no color.

the builtin sprites are in the "xbm" file format, which i can only assume stands for "X11 BitMap". These are files that literally just have a C array initializer in them, and they all get included at compile time. there is no way to runtime-include a sprite

the code's encoded in ISO-2022-JP, a text encoding format basically nonexistent in the english-speaking world. you'll need to convert it. for those of you with command line familiarity, chardetect and iconv were both extremely useful in fixing this.

all that being said, it's so cool!!!!! old ass 90s source code just works on linux!!!!!!!!!! some of the comments are in japanese do you know how cool that is?????? i love that this is just available!!! that this wasn't lost to time!!!!!!!!

Steps for Migrating Data from Oracle to Snowflake

Oracle has many advantages – it can be ported to more than 100 hardware platforms and 20 networking protocols. Writing an Oracle application is quite safe from changes in direction in operating systems and hardware. Further, Oracle has the largest RDMS market share in VMS, UNIX, and OS/2 Server fields.

Given these multiple advantages, why would organizations want to migrate data Oracle to Snowflake?

Snowflake is a cloud-based data warehousing solution. It has addressed many issues that were hitherto inherent in traditional data warehouses leading to organizations preferring this platform. One of the many benefits is that it has separate computing and storage facilities and users can scale up and down in their utilization, paying only for the quantum of resources used. Also, there is no drop in performance and lag, even when multiple users simultaneously work with complex queries and multiple workloads.

Another advantage of Snowflake is that its architecture supports a wide range of cloud vendors. Users can, therefore, use the same tools to work with various cloud vendors without having to develop new skill sets.

Here is the process to migrate data Oracle to Snowflake.

Extracting data from Oracle

The first step is extracting data from Oracle to CSV file through a SQL Plus query tool in the Oracle Database Server. It can query and redirect the data to a CSV file with a “Spool” command which will continue writing till such time it is switched off. When incremental data has to be mined only, that is the changed records after the last pull, the tool has to be run in appropriate conditions.  

Converting and formatting the data

After the data is extracted from the Oracle database it has to be converted and formatted to match the requirements of specific organizations. It has to be ensured that the data character at the source matches those supported by Snowflake. This is not very complex as Snowflake supports almost all types of primitive and advanced data as well as nested data structures.

Uploading data to a cloud staging area

The next step to migrate data Oracle to Snowflake is to upload data to a cloud staging area before it can be loaded to Snowflake. Two staging areas can be utilized, internal staging and external staging. In the first instance, users and tables will be allotted to an internal stage and a name assigned to it. File format and date format will be applied. The whole process is automated. For external staging, Snowflake currently supports Microsoft Azure and Amazon S3 only.  

Copying data to table

Finally, to migrate data Oracle to Snowflake after staging, the “COPY INTO” command is used to transfer data to Snowflake. For this, the computing resources in Snowflake virtual warehouse are required and Snowflake credits are utilized.

By following these steps, the process of migrating Oracle data to Snowflake can be carried out.

LiveType was a computer program developed by Apple Inc. to create animated title sequences for video projects. It was discontinued with the release of Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5, and Compressor 4.(1)

LiveType originated from a product called 'India Titler Pro,' by the Oregon-based company Prismo Graphics,(2) founded by Tom Langmacher and Mary Massey (now Mary Wolf). Prismo Graphics hired Dave Howell of Pablo Media to write the software's code. Prismo Graphics, as well as the software, was acquired by Apple in June 2002.(3)

The program first appeared as part of Final Cut Pro 4 in April 2003. It was updated to version 1.2 in the following year; this version was then included in Final Cut Express HD in 2005. LiveType 2 includes over 11 gigabytes of content - including fonts, textures, objects, templates and effects. It can import any standard media files and can create text tracks whose style can be meticulously specified. LiveFont(edit)
