Befferlands Renovated Barn - Charmouth. 

For those wanting to get away and explore the stunning Jurassic coast. This barn conversion is a lovely calm and quiet space about 30 min walk to the village of Charmouth - a great beach for fossil hunting with the kids. 

Close by are the small villages of Lyme Regis (pictured) and Beer which have been featured on here before. Both are brilliant for a day out. See Rousdon estate HERE.

We had to go back to the Rousdon Bakery which is one of my favourite places to eat EVER. We also ate at the River Cottage Canteen in Axminster this time which was wonderful too. For those wanting more, you can go to the River Cottage HQ up the road and have lessons too.

The cottage itself had everything you need including gorgeous beds, two ensuite bathrooms, a large window for yoga sessions (or staring out of with a glass of wine!), a lovely kitchen and lots of walks from the back door (pictured). Great space for kids and dogs as very open and nothing much to damage! :)

Stonehenge - Nr Salisbury, Wiltshire 

Found this gem last minute and as it is off-peak it had good check-in and check-out times so made it worthwhile for a weekend. It was a stunning spot about five mins drive from Stonehenge and is situated on the grounds of a polo club (posh!). We are told you can also walk from the cottage to Stonehenge too (45 mins) and it’s very flat so would be a great walk.

The polo bit meant there were horses EVERYWHERE including outside the kitchen window so our daughter was in her element. You could also go and watch a match which happens each morning on the weekends.

We checked in and checked out with a lock box and didn’t get to meet the owners but we were fine with that! They left an amazing amount of things for us including milk, bread chocolate, condiments and coffee etc. Was really kind of them. I see why they are superhosts!

The bed was huge and it had very stylish interiors (although unsure about the real zebra rug!). The roaring fire was very much needed for a visit in December and we had fun with their board games in front of it.

Couldn’t fault it. Our daughter has already asked if we can go back.

Grasmere - The Lake District 

Walking trip to the beautiful Lakes. We covered hills, waterfalls, lakes, tarns and caves.

From our Airbnb (pictured) above a little cafe in gorgeous Grasmere we were in walking distance to Easedale Tarn. The walk starts in Grasmere, taking you out of the village, through farmland, and then follows Easedale Beck and then the aptly named Sourmilk Gill (waterfall pictured) up to Easedale Tarn. At this point, you can then choose to turn back the way you came for a slightly shorter (five miles) walk. However, for the more adventurous and those who prefer a circular route, you can descend through farmland on the other side of the waterfall and beck. This way of descent is quite boggy, and although there are plenty of stepping stones it is best avoided after heavy rain. We also walked around the far side of the lake following mainly sheep trails! Finally got back to the beautiful Lancrigg and never have I been so happy to see food and a pint of cider!

That night we had dinner at Lewis of Grasmere restaurant which was lovely.

The next day we walked the ‘Coffin Trail’ from Grasmere around to Rydal Water. We explored the caves and the path was busier but also easier. Ended up on a beach (pictured) with lots of other families with kids kyaking and paddleboarding. Lots of potential there for families. By the time we got back to Grasmere we were ready for a rest and found another gorgeous spot for a rest (socks off!) at The Grand of Grasmere. So many good places to eat and drink in Grasmere. Followed by Tweedies Bar where we enjoyed seeing the sun go down behind the surrounding hills. Great food there too and live music on the Saturday night.

We had four days but there is so much to see and do. We will definitely return!
