Franck Sorbier

Franck Sorbier is a French fashion designer who I found while researching about projection, I saw a particular collection of his which really caught my eye, This collection was called Projection mapping technology from fall\winter 2012-2013 this collection was inspired by classic fairytales this included garments with a pattern or image being projected on to it. I thought this collection was very fashion forward and something very unique and rarely seen and the idea of having the designs being visually presented onto the garment was very innovative and creative and is something I would be interested looking into more as it's very futuristic and fits with my theme.

Sorbier idea was to present what he thought could be the future way of presenting a story but through fashion each garments would represent and visually show a fairytale story of a princess and her adventures shown through different images just like how it would be seen in a book but this would be displayed on a garment instead. He wanted to bring both fashion and technology together making these pieces present elegant structure of a tradition ball gown but then transforming this into a canvas present visuals, Sorbier wanted to put a 21 st Century spin on the classic French fairytales showing not only visuals on the gowns but effect and backdrop in the background showing a fairytale come to life through this collection. I thought this idea of visually showing imagery or something like patterns or a piece of work is a very futuristic and unique approach as this way you are able to present two in one the garments as a fashion piece and the visual art work as a separate piece but you also seeing both piece being shown together which allows you to show both fashion and visual technology as one.

Furthering my research I would look into different ways to visually display different patterns on to different types of materials to see which type works best if this is through projection or using other methods, I would also see if there's ways to show these patterns or piece moving while being displayed on garment and see how this can be presented and made possible.
