BABY CAKES.. 🧁| Nothing prepares you for motherhood, other than 9 months of research, nesting and binge watching Netflix 😆| On Tuesday evening I welcomed my little girl, Zara into the world. She was considered preterm at 36 + 2 weeks, delivered via caesarean section at 11:34pm Tuesday 3rd September, weighing in at 2.81kg /6.19lbs, length 50cm. My whole birth plan was 3.5 weeks too early, got away from me. No sooner do you start planning how you want things managed between yourself, your Obstetrician and Midwife on the intended day of labour - if planning an elective surgery or induction - the unexpected and unexplainable birth plan, is taken out of your control and transformed. All of a sudden you feel lost and confused, even though all the information has been given to you, nothing prepares you for the emotional shock and relief, all at once. We need to make a decision for the health and wellbeing of mother and daughter. Hormones go hey wire and even though this procedure, has been performed many times and the surgical team are there to support you 110% of the time, you end up feeling like you’ve lost.. But, alas at the end of this very short roller coaster, a huge gush of happiness and love, over shadowed those insignificant things. Allowing a precious moment to heal quickly, you’re giving birth to something so special, beautiful and innocent.
