13, 16, and 23! :]
13. Do you listen to music while you write? If yes, what have you been listening to recently?
It depends! Sometimes I listen to music and sometimes I listen to twitch streams. With music I usually just throw on an album I've been thinking about and get to it haha. Recently I queued up both of Mumford and Sons' first two albums and also Sum 41's All Killer No Filler
16. Do you write by hand, on your phone, or on your laptop?
I prefer my laptop, or my tablet with the keyboard attached to it. I like the feeling of keys under my fingers. If I'm going somewhere and am in a vehicle that I'm not driving I will write on my phone sometimes though. It's usually a desperate last resort lmao
23. Is writing the beginning, middle, or end of the story easiest? Hardest?
I usually always have an easier time with the beginning and end because those are what are concrete planned out. The middle is the hard one because it's less concrete and more subject to change based on my petty whims.

Nile Crocodile, Burmese Python, Legless lizard. :D
Nile crocodile: What kind of things do you collect/ want to collect? Nature stuff! Old stuff! I have some skulls. A coyote, a house cat and a boa (who had pretty bad mouth rot), but I’d like to get more. I’ve got a diaphonized hognose snake, and a little octopus wet specimen. I also have some little bits of things from outings I’ve gone upon. Like a little pine cone from the first hike I went on with my bf. Part of a shell from a trip to the coast with my friend. Pieces of quartz from my mom. I also have a couple old books like my copy of Vestiges of the Natural History of Creation which is cool.
Burmese Python: What is your dream reptile/amphibian? Oh man this is always so hard! I feel like I’m always changing my mind. Part of me thinks some kind of monitor or maybe a blue tegu. Then another part of me says blue racer, or eastern indigo snake.
Legless lizard: Where do you want to travel in the future? I’ve always wanted to visit all the big name national parks of the US. At least Yellowstone.
Thank you for the Qs!

1. Australia's new anti-immigrant leader | Euronews Australia's new anti-immigrant leader Now Reading: Australia's new anti-immigrant leader Australia's new prime minister Scott Morrison has held three ministerial posts - but it's his time as minister of immigration and border protection that he'll be remembered for. In 2013 he began the "Sovereign Frontiers" operation. Boat people were routinely turned back to sea and asylum-seekers driven to remote Pacific detention centres on the Manus Islands in Papua New Guinea and Nauru. And in a sign that the government meant business it tasked the navy with patrolling Australia's coastline. Refugees who did manage to slip through the cracks and reach Australia suffered the same fate. This policy brought down the number of arrivals but it divided public opinion. It tarnished the international reputation of Australia. and Human rights organizations condemned it. Amnesty International described the detention centres as open prisons. Some have questioned how Morrison, who is a committed Christian, can square his actions with his beliefs. But he's said that the migrants and refugees are preyed on by people smuggling gangs and that he wants to stop people risking their safety by taking to boats that are often unseaworthy. But since 1996 Australia has steadily tightened its immigration policy, whichever party has been in power and he is not alone in his hardline attitude. And now this Australian policy of zero tolerance has gained a new fan - far-right Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini. He has said he wants Italy to pursue the same policy. Within Australia they are nomadic, with erratic migration patterns dependent upon climatic conditions. Black swans are large birds with mostly black plumage and red bills. They are monogamous breeders, and are unusual in that one-quarter of all pairings are homosexual, mostly between males. Both partners share incubation and cygnet rearing duties. Chris Pratt Doesn't Think Hollywood Is Anti-Christian As an actor who often speaks out about his Christian faith, Chris Pratt isn’t convinced that Hollywood is anti-religious.  “I think that there’s this narrative that exists out there that Hollywood is anti-Christian or anti-religious, but it’s just not the case,” the “Jurassic World” startold The Associated Press this week. Advertisement On the contrary, Pratt said, Hollywood’s culture encourages people to embrace whatever is authentic to them.  “They are kind of not anti-anything. They are kind of pro whatever is authentic to you. And I like that,” the actor said. “Because it’s authentic for me to be pro-Christian, pro-Jesus. That’s my thing. I like it.” Pratt said that no one in Hollywood has ever tried to shame him to his face about his faith. Even if they did it behind his back, he said, “I’m not going to change.” The actor has often used his appearances on award shows to share his religious beliefs. In June, while accepting the Generation Award at the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards, Pratt offered his listeners some spiritual advice.  Chris Pratt accepts the Generation Award at the MTV Movie & TV Awards in Santa Monica, California, on June 16, 2018.(Mario Anzuoni / Reuters) “God is real. God loves you. God wants the best for you. Believe that. I do,” Pratt said while listing what he called nine essential life rules.  He also advised the audience to be careful with their souls, serve others and learn to pray. “You are imperfect. You always will be. But there is a powerful force that designed you that way,” the actor said. “And if you’re willing to accept that, you will have grace. And grace is a gift.” Pratt told AP that he knows this kind of message might not be for everybody. But he thinks there are people out there who are yearning to hear it.  “And nothing fills my soul more than to think that maybe some kid watching that would say, ‘Hey, I’ve been thinking about that. I’ve been thinking about praying. Let me try that out,’” he said.  Pratt greets fans at the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards.(Christopher Polk via Getty Images) Pratt, who was raised Lutheran, spoke about his Christian awakening in aJanuary 2017 Vanity Fair article. As a struggling young actor, the Minnesota native moved to Maui, Hawaii. He lived in a van parked on the beach and worked as a waiter at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. Though his surroundings were idyllic, Pratt recalled feeling lost.  One day, when he was sitting outside a grocery story, a stranger came up and invited him to church.  “He said, ‘Jesus told me to talk to you ...’ At that moment I was like, I think I have to go with this guy,” Pratt told Vanity Fair. “He took me to church. Over the next few days I surprised my friends by declaring that I was going to change my life.” Pratt said he became a committed Christian two days later and even helped the stranger, who apparently worked for a Messianic Jewish organization.  One month later, according to Esquire, Pratt was discovered by a director at Bubba Gump Shrimp. He was cast in a short film, which eventually led to bigger acting gigs. Pratt sees speaking out about his faith as a way of repaying the gifts in his life.(Axelle/Bauer-Griffin via Getty Images) Last year, Pratt was spotted in Los Angeles attending Hillsong Church, which is part of an evangelical Christian group of churches known for attracting quite a few celebrities, including Justin Bieber and Kourtney Kardashian. Mexico City, U.S. Prepare for “Mother of All Caravans”
Despite the lies and denials from immigration activists who are actively working to put these treks together, local media reports confirm that an enormous caravan of more than 10,000 Central Americans is expected to land in Mexico City this week. Described by the Mexican Interior Department as “caravana madre” – the Mother of All Caravans – this horde of migrants is only the latest sign that El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras are doing little or nothing to stop the flow of immigrants out of their misbegotten countries.
From the Washington Examiner:
The Human Rights Commission said it is working with the federal government in advance of the caravan’s arrival to ensure migrants have food, shelter, and any access to other services they may require. Beds, covers, bathrooms, and other items have been brought in for the group, according to Diario de Mexico.
The migrants are expected to be housed in the Magdalena, a sports stadium that was used in the 1968 Olympics.
Mexican officials said they have deported thousands of people this month, but 10,000 have made it past federal officers and intend on traveling to the U.S.-Mexico border.
In a tweet on Wednesday, President Trump said the federal government may have to take drastic action to prevent this caravan from breaching our borders.
“A very big Caravan of over 20,000 people started up through Mexico,” wrote Trump. “It has been reduced in size by Mexico but is still coming. Mexico must apprehend the remainder or we will be forced to close that section of the Border & call up the Military. The Coyotes & Cartels have weapons!”
Unlike previous caravans, which consisted mainly of Central Americans, the current group is reported to include immigrants of all stripes, including people from Haiti, Cuba, and even Africa. This demographic makeup not only increases the chances of terrorists and other wrongdoers being mixed into the population but also increases the risk of diseases for which there are no ready cures in place.
Furthermore, it makes a mockery of international asylum laws, which demand that migrants take refuge in the first country that offers them sanctuary. This clause has been conveniently overlooked by Democrats and immigration activists when it comes to Central Americans, many of whom were offered asylum in Mexico. To ignore it now is to give the game away: The point is not to adhere to asylum laws, the point is to flood the U.S. with third-world rejects.
And boy, are they succeeding.

*
Only one thing can stop the mighty Tampa Bay Lightning. And that’s a white-hot, molten-lava-hot goaltender. And right now there is none hotter than two-time Vezina winner Sergei Bobrovsky. In fact, he’s been so hot that he’s carried the Blue Jackets into seventh place, shooting right past the eight-spot where they would have faced Tampa. Nine Quality Starts in his last 11 games, four shutouts in his last seven games, and just seven goals allowed in seven games.
Bobrovsky’s numbers since March 5: 9-2-0, 1.27 GAA, 0.957 SV%, 9 QS
He has started 18 consecutive games, easily the most this season and it seemed as though the steady, heavy workload finally got him into the zone. If things end this way, the defending Cup Champions would have their hands full. The bottom line right now is that Washington is the second seed, Columbus is the seventh seed, but just eight point separate them – two extra wins and four extra OTL. Not as big of a gap as you think. Nightmares of Jaro Halak back when he was with Montreal?
Cam Atkinson was held off the score sheet Sunday, but good on him for scoring two Saturday, including his 40th. He had 38 goals on March 9 and nine games later only managed one more. It would have been a damn shame if he fell short. I think he’s a 35-goal scorer without Panarin, but not 40. With Panarin leaving (likely), this was Atkinson’s shot and he got there.
Atkinson’s usual linemate, Pierre-Luc Dubois, was the offensive start notching three points. Matt Duchene took over PLD’s spot on the top line, with Dubois centering an effective line with the hot Josh Anderson and Ryan Dzingel.
Oliver Bjorkstrand has put together a five-game points streak and he has seven goals in his last seven contests. It’s been a disappointing season for Bjorkstrand but suddenly surging late to top 20 goals is a promising consolation. John Tortorella must be thrilled with the fact that he’s had 25 SOG over the last five games. Bjorkstrand turns 24 next week. With the exodus of players likely happening in the offseason, I think it’s very likely that Bjorkstrand finds himself on the top line next season and is a very strong sleeper candidate.
*
Very pleased to get two minutes of Dan Milstein’s time via Skype. Milstein is the agent for KHL superstar Nikita Gusev, whose NHL rights belong to the Vegas Golden Knights. Gusev was the 2017-18 KHL MVP, he was the Top Forward at the 2018 Olympics en route to helping Russia win Gold, and he led the KHL in scoring this season by a wide margin with 82 points in 62 games. He has 15 points in 13 playoff games for SKA St. Petersburg. Needless to say, a decision to join the NHL would be headline news in hockey circles let alone in our fantasy hockey world. Here I ask the million dollar question – will he come to the NHL next season?
{youtube}PapxakPRtj0{/youtube}
Now that we have this information, we know exactly what we need to do in keeper leagues when it comes to Gusev.
*
Speaking of hot goaltenders, Matt Murray has five Quality Starts in his last six games. After a rough start he’s going to wind up having a pretty good season. But check out these numbers from December 15 onwards:
36GP, 24-8-4, 2.31 GAA, 0.931 SV%, 26 QS for a 72.2 QS%
In beating Carolina Sunday, the Penguins are helping Columbus to not face the Lightning. And in the process, as I note above, could be handing their nemesis the Capitals a tough go of things against Bobrovsky.
The latest on the Penguins injuries:
Evgeni Malkin, Zach Aston-Reese and Kris Letang are back skating. I don’t see any of those three missing playoff time and I have a hunch that at least Malkin and Letang will get into the last game of the season.
*
Conor Garland has just two points in eight games since signing his contract extension, plus an alarming eight healthy scratches. The return of Christian Dvorak has really hurt Garland’s odds of getting into the lineup, even though they play different positions. The Coyotes will lose on Richard Panik next season (UFA) and they will have Nick Schmaltz back. It’s hard to get a feel for where Garland fits in for 2019-20, but I suspect he will be a depth guy for another season, showing us signs – in spurts – of what he can do down the road.
*
Ryan Donato was pointless on Sunday and a minus-3. He has one assist and is minus-6 over his last four games, and is minus-8 with three points over his last six games. Prior to that he was plus-4 with 13 points in 13 games. It’s the ‘new team’ adrenalin. He joined Boston out of college and had nine points in 12 games, and was plus-2. Then he couldn’t stick with the team in the fall and when he did play he didn’t score much and was minus-11 with Boston. He joins the Wild and bam, 13 points in 13 games. Now he’s tailing off again. Still a great player and a top prospect, but this just emphasizes that you shouldn’t raise expectations too high for him next year. I think he’ll get there eventually, but the sudden surge early on was too much, too soon.
Per Michael Russo, The Minnesota Wild is reportedly in on (and favored) to sign a pair of highly-touted NCAA free agents. Defenseman Jimmy Schuldt and center Nico Sturm. Schuldt. Those of you who picked up my Midseason Guide were already aware of these two as they were profiled in the NCAA free agents section. The Habs are also in on the offensive QB Schuldt, who plays with Ryan Poehling with St. Cloud State. Sturm is a leader and team captain, a two-way guy who may not end up getting into the top six but is a quality depth guy with a bit of upside.
*
Speaking of Poehling, the Habs signed him to an ELC on the weekend. They also signed Cayden Primeau. The latter will spend at least three years in the AHL, perhaps seeing spot backup duty in Year 4. He’s still only 19. Poehling on the other hand could make the team in the fall, but the more likely scenario is one full AHL season before making the jump. He just turned 20 a couple of months ago. He is probably Montreal’s second best prospect (behind Nick Suzuki). You can read our fantasy hockey scouting report on Poehling here, and on Primeau here.
*
Toronto prospect defenseman Calle Rosen has been dynamite for the Marlies this season with 46 points in 54 games. I think he was an astute signing by the Leafs and they were wise to get him acclimated to the North American game in the AHL. I am impressed with his commitment to put in the time down there as a 25-year-old. The team recalled him on the weekend and if they don’t get Jake Gardiner back he could slot into the lineup. I think he’ll be Gardiner’s replacement next season and could be a decent dark horse. Here is our fantasy scouting report and PNHLe chart on him.
*
If you missed my note on Ryan Strome Saturday when I subbed in for Gooding, you can check it out here. He picked up another pair of points Sunday and is still rolling now that the Rangers have fewer offensive options since the trade deadline.
*
Also on Saturday – I raved about Anthony Mantha replacing Gustav Nyquist on Detroit’s top line and boy did he (and that entire line) make me look good on Sunday. Mantha put on a clinic when he notched five points. Larkin had a pair and Bertuzzi continues to roll with three more points. For Little Bert (I had called his Uncle Todd “Big Bert” so…), it is now three consecutive three-point games. Very much draftable in the fall and if this line continues to click even at a normal rate, the two offensive guns could really drag Little Bert’s points upward. Very bullish on this guy because of his linemates. I hate drafting and making decisions based on linemates, but I do make exceptions when they clearly work and I have a strong hunch that the line will continue for more than just a few months. That’s where I’m at with Bertuzzi.
Taro Hirose’s one-game slump is finally over. That never-ending nightmare finally did end about a minute into the third period Sunday. So now his NHL career consists of seven games with a point, one game without a point.
*
My Dobbernomics decisions Sunday were terrible flops. Spending big on Sidney Crosby (zero points), streaming in Jaroslav Halak and Carter Hart (both losses), playing a cheap Jacob Larsson for two weekend games because he had a good few games prior (negative points)…Wow, my plan for a late surge into the Top 25 has really flopped. I should finish in the Top 50, but nothing worked out for me in that game this weekend.
*
The Flames clinched the Western Conference top seed on Sunday. They gave up 46 shots…over Mike Smith’s last three starts. Just 15 shots faced by Smith on Sunday. With the surging second-half Blues, the ridiculously deep Predators and the two-season Cinderella story Golden Knights, nobody is taking Calgary seriously when it comes to playoff hockey. But I think they should. As the top seed they get to play the bottom wildcard team in the West. You know…that team that is going to get a seed almost by default? By literally backing into the playoff picture? While nine East teams have 92 points already, eighth place in the west has 85 – and that’s who Calgary gets. That’s practically a free round right there, they’re already in the Final 8.
Calgary’s depth in all areas is underrated. Johnny Hockey was the only player to get two points on Sunday – 13 other players had one.
Kevin Labanc has 28 points in his last 31 games with nine of them on the power play and crazy 3.7 Pts/60 in that span. Boy oh boy we’re gonna see some fourth year magic from this guy in 2019-20.

Hunt for the wilder side of New Zealand
New Zealand’s landscapes are well-known on the silver display. The Lord of the Rings films confirmed off the majestic mountainous scenery so well they sparked a tourism boom – and thirteen% of visitors still cite Peter Jackson’s cinematography of their decision to go to. Out subsequent Friday (16 September), Hunt for the Wilder people, a comedy-drama directed via Taika Waititi and starring Sam Neill as He, grumpy foster uncle to Ricky (newcomer Julian Dennison), shines the spotlight on us of an all over again. The tale of a city youngster’s adventures in the wilderness broke container workplace facts at home and had rave opinions on the Edinburgh International Film Festival (prevailing the coveted Audience Award). It became filmed in large part within the North Island’s Auckland place, in which seashores, rainforest, and vineyards surround New Zealand’s largest metropolis. For those inspired to e-book a Kiwi journey, here are 5 of the high-quality movie-associated options. Stu Gilbert from SOS Survival Training coaches anybody from airline crews to schoolchildren, so a consultation with him is a good start for might be Wilder people, as Ricky dubs himself and Him. A former air force teacher, Stu suggests newbies the ropes in aa laugh session out inside the bush on a big property in Muriwai, 45 mins’ drive from Auckland. After tuition at the basics, he has participants foraging for logs, branches, and bracken to construct a makeshift bed and refuge) and trying to mild a heart using cotton wool, flint, and steel (a useless phone battery also can work, apparently). We observed the flint and metal worked quality, with the proper mix of tinder and kindling, and had been sparked up very quickly. Overnight and 3-day programs of full bush immersion are to be had, too.
A 35-minute ferry journey from downtown Auckland is beautiful, bohemian Waiheke island.
Most travelers get round by way of automobile, motorcycle or even zip-lining – however, the Wilder people way might be to leap on a horse like Ricky’s friend Kahu (Torero Ngatai-Melbourne). Waiheke HorseWorx is a new operator that tours the beaches and bush tracks, taking in traditional Maori subculture and Waiheke’s famous wineries. Some in their steeds are film stars too: ask for Shaman in case you’re a Hobbit fan (she changed into dwarf king Thorin’s mount). A standard 4-hour tour will start with fundamental guidance, accompanied with the aid of a journey along seashores to Piritahi Marae community center for a traditional Maori welcome, earlier than a tea damage and a journey to Cable Bay vineyard for food and wine. Alternatively, within the middle of North Island, adventure organization River Valley in Taihape gives two- to 4-day horse riding holidays from £430pp.
Airguns for Hunting in Mississippi
No rely upon if it’s a BB gun or pellet rifle, the air gun is a fundamental constructing block of marksmanship education for hunters of every age. Not best that, in Mississippi there are profitable possibilities for hunters to take their air guns to the woods. With the escalating cost and restricted availability of ammunition recently, those excellent huge tins of pellets are looking increasingly appealing with each passing day.
Marksmanship Training
Air weapons are so famous for education children in shooting fundamentals that most of the hunter’s education publications being taught in the kingdom use one for the required stay fireplace section of the path. They are cheap to shoot, accurate, and constrained in range.
Pest Control
It’s excellent to keep in mind that Mississippi is domestic to a number of endangered species of bats, turtles and uncommon snakes they may be exceptional to be prevented if you are unsure of the exact species in your points of interest.
Small Game
It’s the felony in step with MDFWP guidelines to hunt all small game (rabbit, squirrel, bobwhite quail, raccoon, possum, and bobcat) with air rifles at some stage in the regular season by a licensed hunter.
While almost any BB gun or pellet rifle will take vermin sized animals (mice, rats) and pest birds consisting of sparrows, you may want a high-powered air gun that shoots pellets only to move anything large.
When going after bobcats, raccoons and possums, 22 quality or 25 caliber pellets from excessive-powered air guns need to be minimal.Hunt acronym in economics
Nuisance Animals
The State of Mississippi by way of Public Notice LE6-3779 lists beaver, coyote, fox, nutria, skunk, and wild hogs as nuisance animals. As such, the looking of nuisance animals is allowed in the course of daytime on non-public lands without a caliber restrictions–, which include air guns. While.177/22 quality weapons can take polecats and not using an issue, going after a number of the bigger recreation on this listing can be elaborate except you have got a huge bore air rifle.
Book Review: Farmer Boy, by Laura Ingalls Wilder
Farmer Boy (1933) is the second one within the Little House series of autobiographical novels by Laura Ingalls Wilder. It is barely uncommon in that it is the simplest ebook within the series of 9 novels that does not issue itself with Laura’s growing up. All the Little House novels follow in chronological order Laura’s development from younger toddler to married woman, except for Farmer Boy. For a few purpose, after publishing Little House inside the Big Woods in 1932, Wilder determined to put in writing a youth novel approximately her husband, Almanzo Wilder.Geert wilders lights going out in europe
Wilder would never return to the subject of her husband’s childhood, writing and publishing Little House on the Prairie instantly after Farmer Boy, and persevering with the collection with novels like On the Banks of Plum Creek (1937) and Little Town on the Prairie (1941). The First Four Years (1971), a manuscript that Wilder put away and in no way finished, was published posthumously. It appeared that the failure of this manuscript dampened the author’s self-assurance as a creator, as no other novels have been written.
The World Where Everything is Made with the aid of Hand
Reading Farmer Boy makes it appear clear that, had she desired to, Wilder should have advanced her husband’s developing up right into a similar collection. Almanzo Wilder could eventually appear as a grown up in later novels like The Long Winter (1940) and These Happy Golden Years (1943).
There isn’t always a whole lot of a plot in Farmer Boy. The novel essentially describes the farm and domestic lifestyles of the 4 Wilder kids, with a focus on Almanzo, the youngest of the brood who is nearly 9 years of age. The other youngsters are the splendidly named Royal, who is thirteen, Eliza Jane, who’s twelve, and ten-year vintage Alice. The novel is complete of details unknown to trendy day readers, just like the work of the cobbler, the change of the tin-peddler, with his big selection of tin items, and scary encounters with bears whilst foraging for berries. Wilder plumps her novel full of candy and satisfied details of farm and city life, making Farmer Boy as wealthy and worthwhile as one of the, freshly baked loaves that it frequently describes.

He feels speaking publicly about his faith has become his calling, Pratt told AP.  “That’s like the only way I feel like I can repay what has essentially been a giant gift in my life,” he said.  Chris Pratt For other people with the same name, seeChristopher Pratt (disambiguation). The Flyers have lost five of seven games and their playoff hopes hang by a thread. The team would have preferred not to toss young Carter Hart into the fire at this stage in his development, but they know that he represents their best shot at getting there. So the Flyers will juggle three goalies and ride Hart in all but the second of back-to-backs. Which was the case Sunday when Brian Elliott got the start (and took the loss).
It would be interesting to see how things shake out for Philadelphia between the pipes in the summer with both Elliott and Cam Talbot as UFAs. A thought I have is that the team re-signs one of them to be Hart’s backup, giving Hart the reins next season in what I think is a full year ahead of their original plan for him. On one hand you have a veteran who still seems to be adequate when called upon, but is injury prone. At 33, I think what you’re seeing from Elliott is what you get. On the other hand you have Talbot who seems to have completely fallen apart, and what I suspect started to happen when his life changed upon the birth of his twins a couple of years ago. He could fill in as a backup and at the age of 31 I think could at least rebound a little. He could shoulder the load whenever Hart stumbles or is injured. The point is, I suspect that one of the two will be back with the Flyers next season.
Brett Connolly’s career season continues to get better. He has eight points in his last six games. This is particularly impressive because his ice time is actually declining from quarter to quarter. Here is his quarterly breakdown:

The favored goaltender for the Islanders has swung back to Robin Lehner. After Thomas Greiss was pulled March 21 against Montreal after giving up four goals on 22 shots, Lehner has started two straight games. He has stopped 65 of 67 and given the fact that Coach Barry Trotz rides the hot hand, I suspect this is late enough in the season for Lehner to ride this wave into the playoffs. Both goaltenders have 22 wins and SV% at 0.926 or higher (Lehner at 0.928). I don’t think the Islanders or Lehner are thinking about a contract, given the need to focus on the task at hand. But the reality is, Lehner is an unrestricted free agent this summer. The Isles have a ton of cap space and Lehner’s season is demanding a decent chunk of change, one that exceeds the $3.33 million that Greiss makes next year. The Isles do have a couple of young stud goalies on the way in Ilya Sorokin and Linus Soderstrom and really just need a goalie like Lehner for another two years, but I don’t think he signs for anything under three. I think there are plenty of teams willing to sign him for three years and $15 million-plus. At that price point, he will be a starter next year at 55 games be it with a new team or with this one. You don’t put $5 million per year on the bench for 40 games the way it’s happened for him this year at $1.5.

He was held off the scoresheet for the fifth consecutive day but Vinnie Hinostroza had five shots on goal. We’ve been talking Hinostroza a lot here lately. Over the last three weeks (11 games), Hinostroza leads all Arizona forwards with five goals and six points, as well as 35 shots (tops Clayton Keller’s 30). His ice time has seen a bump lately as well, averaging over 16 minutes per game lately and 17:54 on Sunday. I’m bullish about him for next season.
The Coyotes have struggled to score this year, it’s no secret. They started the season with just three goals in five games, and their current rut is at four goals in the last four games. They’ve been shut out seven (!) times this year in all, including Sunday. They were held to just a single goal on 17 occasions. That’s 24 of 76 games (31.6%) scoring one goal or not at all. The Coyotes are 23rd in the NHL on the power play and second in shorthanded goals. But at even strength the team has just 139 goals, which sits 30th. I don’t really see a magic wand that can be waved over them in the summer that will make this an NHL team that ranks in the top half for offense, so being “bullish” on Hinostroza is all relative. If he finishes in the top three on the team in scoring next year, that may just mean something like 48 or 50 points.
*
Petr Mrazek has been on fire this quarter though he didn’t get the start Sunday (Curtis McElhinney spotted him, and had a strong game to bounce back from a poor one on March 21). But Mrazek has posted a Quality Start in nine of his last 11 games. His last RBS (what we define as a Really Bad Start – 0.850 SV% or lower) was way back on January 20. Mrazek’s last 11 games:
9-2-0, 1.63 GAA and 0.944 SV% with 3 SO and 9 QS
Mrazek is yet another unrestricted free agent in the summer ahead and he’s completely revived his career. The Hurricanes were likely going to move on from him come July and now I think they’re interested in hearing what he’s looking for. If I was GM Don Waddell, I would see if I can’t lock him in for two years at a low cap rate of perhaps under $3 million. If this team can hang onto a playoff spot on the back of Mrazek playing another five or six strong games, he’ll be looking for a lot more. Carolina was a destination for one of the many UFA goaltenders this summer and Mrazek is doing what he can to shut the door on that opportunity for those people such as the aforementioned Talbot, Elliott and Lehner.
*
One goalie is not unrestricted this summer is of course Carey Price. His numbers this season overall are mediocre but if you delve deeper you can see that the superstar is back. He has Quality Starts in six of his last seven games and since November 23 he has the following numbers:
27-18-3, 2.37 GAA, 0.923 SV%, 3 SO and 32 QS (65.3%)
*
Colin Wilson has seen a surge in ice time with Gabriel Landeskog and Mikko Rantanen on the sidelines, seeing 17:48 Sunday and 19:01 Sunday. He’s still on the third line but he’s been a member of the top PP unit. No points Sunday, but he had two Saturday and has four in four games if you’re reaching for a short-term option on Wednesday, their next game. Then again, that game is against the white-hot Golden Knights so…maybe not.
JT Compher and Alex Kerfoot have been Nathan MacKinnon’s wingers, even on the power play. Compher has been snakebitten but Kerfoot has three points in two games, two on the power play.
Erik Johnson, who had six BLKS Sunday, has 21 of them in his last seven games.
*
It’s a tight game and a desperate, if a longshot, run for a playoff spot. And Erik Gustafsson led Chicago in ice time with 23:33, and PP time with 3:40. We already know he’s the real deal but this kind of reliance from his coach bodes well for him maintaining his status as “the man” on the blue line next season.
*
College Star and recent UFA signee Taro Hirose has an assist in each of his three games with the Red Wings. His PP time has been slowly increased (albeit small sample) and he’s been producing while playing with Thomas Vanek and Frans Nielsen, two capable veterans but hardly the elite performers  they used to be.  You can read his scouting report on DP right here.
*
Sergei Bobrovsky returned in style Sunday and posted his second shutout in three games. The Blue Jackets really came to play and seemed as though Josh Anderson was the second coming of Tom Wilson in the way that he carried them – three points, plus-4, two PIM and one SOG. Anderson has quietly put together a strong year and lately he’s been huge with nine points in eight games (30 shots, 26 Hits). He, Matt Duchene and Ryan Dzingel have formed a very strong second line and if team chemistry is finally starting to mesh, Columbus could make the playoffs after all.
*
See you next Monday.
