We are HALFWAY through the bidding window!
Bidding has been open for 54 hours, which leaves 54 more until the bidding forms close at 8 PM Eastern, Saturday March 9th.
Behind the scenes your mods are marveling at the numbers.
You would think that with 33% more auctions than last year (which, remember, was already our largest year ever), the bids would be spread a little thinner than usual, right?
But that's not what's happening.
The percentage of auctions with one bid halfway through has actually gone up by 8%! That's right, with 33% more auctions, we have 50% more bids! And the percentage that have multiple bids has gone up by 10%.
You guys are ON IT.
Of course, if your auction doesn't have one yet, don't fret! While we can't guarantee every auction will get a bid, we know that a lot of people do wait until the last minute.
To help those people find unbid auctions, we'll be tagging golden needles this time tomorrow.
And as a quick reminder, the Craft Bazaar is open! New stalls were added through March 5, so if you looked before then, you might look again to browse the new crafts offered.

let me make you a (hockey) thing!
for fandom trumps hate for 2025, i will be offering craft works for hockey fandom (men's and women's).
if you're interested in a bespoke crocheted or knitted item, here is what i'm offering:
small ornament-sized item (like the size of your hand, pictured examples above) related to a team or player. examples could include: a yellow croc, player-as-mermaid/mer-squid/mer-lobster/etc., a kraken in the seattle kraken color-scheme, a nasty jock, other ideas that you have. $10 donation to an identified charitable org.
medium-sized item. this could be a hat in your team colors, bigger amigurumi-style creation. $20 donation to an identified charitable org.
go big! would you like a giant devon toews mermaid? large carly jackson in a fuzzy gold vest? cody ceci centaur-cow with a somewhat defined human torso and cow body complete with udder (iykyk)? scarf or blanket in your team colors? the world is your oyster. donation amount tbd based on what you're looking for and what you can reasonably give.
the browsing period officially starts on friday, february 21st, and bidding officially starts on tuesday, february 25th. what i'll need from you, once bidding opens:
comment on this post, dm me, or email me at [email protected] to let me know if you're interested in a thing! i'm also on discord if that's easiest for you. i suck at discord but i will make an effort if you strongly prefer that channel
a reliable way of contacting you as we work through the details of what you're interested in
proof of a donation to one of the identified charitable orgs
ultimately, mailing instructions for where i should send your completed item once it's finished
i'll update the post with links once browsing and bidding are officially available. in the meantime, hit me up if you have ideas/questions that you want to work through in advance
note: i will not make anything related to a player that has been credibly accused of sexual assault, domestic abuse, etc., is a known terrible person, and so on. don't do me like that.

My piece for Asidian for the 2025 @fandomtrumpshate Craft Bazaar!
This was my first time doing pottery for a charity auction, and I had a GREAT time. Asidian liked the style of my fossil pots and is into Dead Boy Detectives, so we tossed around a couple of options and came up with this design.
...And then due to various life and studio delays I didn't get it completed until late May and didn't get it back from the kiln until early June. At which point I hastened to get it mailed off before I left the next day on a trip, which is why these pictures are in poorer light than usual: I had to take them at night and then get the package ready to go out in the morning, rather than waiting for good sunlight. Sorry about that!
Anyway, I'm honored and delighted to have gotten the chance to make this in thanks for Asidian's donation to a good cause!

Fandom Trumps Hate 2025
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is EHyde / Teleport Books' virtual stall for the 2025 Fandom Trumps Hate craft bazaar
I am offering one typeset and hand-bound book of a fanfic of your choice -- see above for some examples (including a few I've made for previous auctions) and see below for more info!
What I Will Bind:
I will bind fic up to 150,000 words in length. If you would like to have multiple shorter works bound as a single-volume anthology, I'm happy to do that as well.
You MUST have permission from the author, or have written the fic yourself. Blanket permission statements are acceptable; you can find a (non-exhaustive) list of authors with blanket permissions here.
I will ship worldwide, at no extra cost.
I will default to a case-bound, half-letter book (the size of a sheet of printer paper folded in half). However, if you'd prefer a different size, or a different bookbinding technique that I've worked with before (such as a stab binding), I can probably work with that!
I am willing to bind most types of content, but won't bind extreme underage sexual content, and reserve the right to refuse to bind a specific fic for any reason. If the fic you want bound is rated E, you will need to confirm that you are 18 or older.
While most of my fic bindings have been for MDZS fics and I would love to do more of those, I will bind fic from any fandom.
I am a self-taught hobbyist, and while I think I do alright, this will not be a professional fine binding.
If you want to ask about a specific fic before you bid, or have any other questions, please feel free to send me an ask or message me!
How it Works:
Fill out this form to place a bid. You can see the current bids here. Bidding will close on March 10 at midnight (end of the day) EST.
I will notify the winner by email within 24 hours of the auction's closing. After being notified, you'll have a week to send me proof of your donation of the winning bid amount to any of FTH's supported organizations.

FTH Fanbinding: "Concord" by Deastar
@youhideastar won my FTH auction and gave me a great gift: She wanted me to bind her CQL fic "Concord" including the thorough author's commentary she'd done. I was so happy when she chose this fic because I'd loved it so much and had pondered doing a fanbinding of it at some point anyway. 😄
Now that the book has finally arrived (spending two days in the air even, I guess, at least when one looks at the tracking info 😆), I can show it off here!
I tried some new stuff on this bind and also some things that I'd only done once before and that definitely need some, uh, perfecting. 😅 But overall, I'm very pleased with how this book turned out, as it's pretty close to what I'd imagined when I started it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fic is set in Cloud Recesses and Dea and I agreed that the colour blue should be prominent in the design, as it not only fits the setting, but also is of significance in the story itself. As the rules and traditions of the Lan sect also are quite important, I wanted a very clean, simple style for the case, a bit reminiscent of traditional Chinese bindings.
Tumblr media
I did the title as a cut-out and used Japanese transparent paper for some extra flavour. The paper shows up inside the book as well early on and I liked the recurring motive of it. I'm also really pleased how well the hot foil came out on it! I was a bit scared that it might rip or something, but it's quite sturdy, after all.
I thought about doing a faux stab binding with red thread to get even more of a traditional feel, but then decided against it as I'd wanted to use two different blue book cloths and I felt that it might get too busy. Instead, I used the red ribbon as a nod to Wei Wuxian.
Tumblr media
The little cloud illustration is used several times in the typeset and I like how it comes out in the title. I didn't even mess up this title, yay! (Mine's got a few tiny blotches but uh well, better mine than Dea's!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I painted the edges with metallic watercolours - the second time I tried painting edges, but this time with several colours and trying to do a little illustration as well. Big thanks to @zhalfirin who quickly answered my question about how to get the paint to actually stick. 😆 I'd read several posts about how awesome water colours are for foreedge painting, but none mentioned that this kind of paint just rubs off again (I am no artist and have no knowledge of different kinds of paint). Zhalfirin told me to mix in glue and also wax the edges afterwards, which I both did and I think it's fine now. At least my fingers didn't turn blue. 😅
I really love how the shading came out on the head/tail; it could've been better on the foreedge and it looked great while the paint was still wet. Steep learning curve, this thing. I also died trying to sand the edges and I didn't get them completely smooth, but at least smooth enough to work with. That also needs some more work, I guess.
First time I sewed endbands with four different colours! I think they came out quite well! I also forgot the second row of dark blue on Dea's book and had to unravel half the endband again when I noticed at the very end... 🤦‍♀️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nice marbled endpapers. For the title page spread, I used part a very famous Chinese painting, as it not only reminds me of the Gusu mountains but also, again, is very traditional. I played around with the colours to give the picture a bit of a bluer tinge.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The typeset itself was very straight-forward. There's the fic without commentary, and then the second part with it. I used a grey background for the comment parts to make it stand out from the actual story.
I had lots of printer issues with this fic (my copy actually had even more issues because the printer treated every page as an image for unknown reasons and therefore it not only took forever, it's also a tiny bit blurry. Hmpf.) and the greys tended to have a bit of a blue tinge, which was not my intention. But at least it works with the overall theme, I guess! 😅
I also did an extensive Appendix with all the meta links mentioned in the commentary as well as cut scenes and a little "praise for the author" section.
Tumblr media
Last but not least, I decided to try making a slipcase for the first time! DAS_Bookbinding on youtube has good tutorials on that and I used one of them. It worked well on the first try. The second try, I used sturdier cardboard and should've added a few millimetres to the width, because the book didn't fit - the ribbon got stuck and I feared that it might get damaged. So I had to redo the case and then it was perfect.
I used wallpaper as cover material. 😄 The one you see on the outside? That's my living room wallpaper, a light blue with a lovely pattern and soft shimmer to it. My camera unfortunately is refusing to get the colour right.🤷‍♂️
Tumblr media
The assembling process went well, for the most part. I'd forgotten to shorten the endpapers a bit which I only realised after I'd started casing in my copy. I carefully separated the textblock from the case again and then, in a moment of complete mental blackout, tried to cut the wet paper. 🤦‍♀️ That didn't go well. I managed to salvage it, mostly, and of course didn't repeat the mistake with Dea's copy, but ugh. 😆
This was a super fun project and I'm very happy with it! Thank you again, Dea, for your faith in me and your super generous donation! 💙

What I'm Offering
A custom made, handbound book, fully typeset with a hard cover. Full color title page optional. Inclusion of full color fanart if permission is granted by the artist.
Depending on the length of the fic, the book can be bound as either a foilio, quarto, or octavo.
For ease of binding, the fic should be < 200k words OR a collection of shorter works whose total word count is in the same range. (If the story is slightly over this word count, there is some leeway here so feel free to DM me with details)
If you have specific design requests such as color scheme, cover design, decorative paper, etc. I am more than happy to work with your ideas! Final decisions will be made based on the materials I have access to.
Worldwide shipping! I am located in the US so if you will require international shipping let me know up front so I can plan for shipping costs and possible delays.
What I'll Bind
Your own work (fanfiction or original work)
Another author's work only if the author gives permission or has a public blanket permission statement for transformative works. Such a permission statement must be on their AO3 page or the site where they posted the fic. The bidder is responsible for obtaining permission for the story of their choice.
I will bind any fandom, ship, or rating with the caveat that you must be 18+ to receive an E rated work.
How It Works
The auction will run from Feb 21 to Mar 7 at 10 pm PST.
To enter the auction please fill out this google form.
You can check the current highest bid on this spreadsheet.
I will contact the winner by email within 24 hours of the end of the auction.

You will have until March 12th to send me proof of your donation.
Once I have received proof of donation, I will contact you to hash out the details of your project!
The final product will be shipped within 6 months. I will provide you with tracking info once it is available.

@silvandar this might interest you!
Not offering an auction but still want to participate in FTH?
One of our favorite side projects at FTH is the Regiment of Fan Laborers, or ROFL: a group of beta readers, sensitivity readers, expertise pickers, translators and other fan laborers who are on hand to offer FTH creators assistance with their auction fanworks.
We love this project because (like the auction itself) it helps build connections and community between fans. It's also a great way for creators to find out how amazingly helpful fan labor support can be!
And? You can sign up even if you didn't offer a fanwork in the auction!
You can sign up directly to the ROFL roster to offer fan labor support to our FTH creators. Whether you want to join for the year or just until you've helped one person, we'd love to have you! (If you said "yes" to joining ROFL during auction signups, no need to do it again! We've got you.)
If fan labor isn't your thing, but you're a dab hand at crafts, you can still sign up to participate in FTH via our Craft Bazaar!

Big fan of the vendors at craft fairs who are working on a project. Please don't perceive me, I'm here to feel how scratchy the yarn you used is, or touch the earrings, or examine the headbands. If you talk to me, then it's awkward when I leave without saying anything. If you're on your phone doomscrolling, then I feel like I'm interrupting if I am genuinely interested in purchasing.
But working on a project? You're demonstrating the production process in real time. I don't feel perceived, there's a common interest that I can ask questions about, it's fabulous.
