7 years ago today Indya finally secured the bag at the tip top of San MyShuno and is faced with a potentially life-altering choice...
Fun Fact: That Penthouse was in the Spire Apartments in Uptown which is an area described in the game as "home to the rich, powerful and slightly odd". The owner of that penthouse was definitely all three....
As a former DJ, I love and appreciate your appetite for good music! How long have you collected vinyl?
I think I probably have around 100-120 vinyls records currently. Some passed down from my pops, and the rest all bought or crate digged by me from brand new Mint LPs to dope thrifted/used hidden gems. I’d say my collection is mostly jazz and soul vinyls. Then I gotta decent amount of hip hop, R&B, disco, & classic rock records. Gotta couple reggae/dancehall ones in there but still growing that part of my collection. ❤️
Crate-digging helped me re-discover my Brooklyn childhood. All the essential samples from a specific decade lead to similar, lesser-known sounds surrounding them. I didn't know who Karla Bonoff was until I came across this album during my first visit to Amityville's High Fidelity. It's a record I took a chance on solely based on year of release ('79), and that said it all for me. What I see and how I feel in the sphere of sampling, no matter where it originated, makes sure that I treat other artists outside its discourse all the same (Emily Remler, Phil Upchurch, Eric Gale, John Tropea, etc.).
Col Nolan & The Soul Syndicate: "Ode To Billy Joe"
Michel Sardaby: "Gail"
Ahmad Jamal: "Jamalca"
Cal Tjader: "Never My Love"

Wes Montgomery: "Yesterday"
Julie Driscoll w. Brian Auger & Trinity: "Light My Fire"
Norman Conners: "You Are My Starship"
Isaac Hayes: "One Woman"
Patrice Rushen: "Kickin' Back"
Headhunters: "I Remember I Made You Cry"
