Hi B! 👋
For this nice ask day I would like to ask: do you have any new recipes you've tried that have been really good lately? I really enjoy the little cooking/baking posts you make 💜
It is honestly a tragedy but I haven't been trying a lot of new recipes lately because I've been too tired/lazy/burnt out for cooking and just opted for fast stuff BUT...
THIS SAUCE!!!!!!!! I use it for everything now 😂
This was also really delicious (I veganized it obv but it's really easy to do)!
This isn't a new recipe and I'm not that much a fan of the tofu (BUT IT'S BETTER IF YOU TOSS IT IN CORNSTARCH BEFORE YOU FRY IT) but I'd die for the red cabbage from this recipe! And assembled they're actually pretty good even with the tofu 😂
I made this a couple of days ago with the pumpkin puree I made, and while I love it I personally would double the spices in this recipe because I find it a bit bland otherwise.
AND I made these cupcakes from my fic "It's amazing what baking can do" yesterday and they're really really good!

Hello V I have a food question and I thought more people would benefit from this 😊: I'm meal prepping and I can't find the slaw recipe you gave me, so this is me asking for it (or anything else yummy you want to share 💖)
Oooh, okay!! Well the TL;DR of it all is multiple kinds of shredded cabbage, fat, acid, salt, and a generous amount of seasoning, tossed vigorously. Then top with something crunchy.
Here’s the full recipe, which we’ll call ‘Auntie Em’s Shredded Slaw:’
Always start with at least 2 kinds of cabbage, like white and purple, cut thinly on a mandolin, or shredded into thin strips with a knife. Usually at least a few other cruciferous veggies too, like Brussels sprouts, broccoli, kale, etc, also cut small.
Add some other crunchy veggies: shredded or matchstick-cut carrots, radishes,  celery, jicama, beets, whatever you’ve got. Bonus points if it makes things colorful.
Add little oil/fat
Add whatever vinegar or acid goes with the rest of the meal (IE balsamic, red wine, apple cider, or rice vinegar, harissa, or lemon/lime juice, even hot sauce)
Optional: If you want a creamy coleslaw, add a spoonful or two of Greek yogurt or sour cream
Season LIBERALLY, with whatever spices or fresh herbs go with the meal. Always include salt, pepper, a little chili powder, and garlic & onion powders, but everything is optional.
STIR AGGRESSIVELY UNTIL THE LIQUIDS AND SPICES HAVE EMULSIFIED AND COATED THE VEGGIES. TASTE AS YOU GO AND ADD SEASONING IF NECESSARY.
(Examples: an Italian meal might mean: olive oil, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, fresh basil, fresh parsley, fresh minced garlic, a few spoonfuls of pesto, dried oregano or rosemary, etc. A stir-fry might get peanut oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, fresh Thai basil, green onions, cilantro/coriander leaves, star anise, cloves, etc. Mexican food might get lime juice, fresh cilantro, cumin, cayenne, ancho, chipotle, hot sauce or Tajin.)
Also optional: add-ins like tomatoes, olives, peppers, artichoke hearts, capers, cucumbers: things that are juicy or more delicate. They get mixed in now, more gently.
Finish by sprinkling something crunchy on top: toasted nuts or seeds, croutons, fried noodles/onions, etc. Et voila. Auntie Em’s Shredded Slaw.
(Which stores brilliantly, btw, because the flavors only get better as they all marinate together and because the base is hearty and crunchy things, it doesn’t get soggy and gross like most leftover salad.)
One more tip: you can do a lot of veggie prep ahead of times and then just store the already-cut ones in your vegetable bin to make it go even faster.

10 Delicious and Healthy Food Ideas with Broccoli
Broccoli is a nutritional powerhouse that can elevate any dish with its vibrant green color, unique texture, and subtle flavor. Whether you're looking for a quick snack, a hearty meal, or a refreshing side dish, broccoli can be your go-to ingredient. Here are ten creative and delicious food ideas to incorporate more broccoli into your diet.
1. Broccoli and Cheddar Soup
Nothing beats a warm bowl of broccoli and cheddar soup on a chilly day. The creamy cheese pairs perfectly with the slightly bitter taste of broccoli, making this a comforting and satisfying meal. Add some crusty bread on the side, and you've got a perfect lunch or dinner option.
2. Broccoli Stir-Fry
Broccoli is a staple in stir-fry dishes. Combine it with other vegetables like bell peppers, carrots, and snap peas, and add your choice of protein—such as chicken, tofu, or shrimp. Toss it all in a savory soy sauce or teriyaki glaze for a quick and nutritious weeknight dinner.
3. Roasted Broccoli with Garlic and Parmesan
Roasting broccoli brings out its natural sweetness and adds a delightful crunch. Toss the florets in olive oil, minced garlic, and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, then roast until golden brown. This dish makes for a great side to any main course.
4. Broccoli and Quinoa Salad
For a light and healthy lunch, try a broccoli and quinoa salad. The nuttiness of quinoa complements the broccoli, while a lemon vinaigrette adds a refreshing zing. Add some cherry tomatoes, red onions, and feta cheese for extra flavor and texture.
5. Broccoli Pesto Pasta
Switch up your traditional basil pesto by adding broccoli to the mix. Blanch the broccoli before blending it with basil, garlic, pine nuts, Parmesan, and olive oil. Toss the pesto with your favorite pasta for a vibrant, green dish that's both nutritious and delicious.
6. Broccoli and Cheese Stuffed Chicken
Elevate your chicken dinner by stuffing it with a mixture of broccoli and cheese. The broccoli adds a pop of color and a nutritious boost, while the cheese melts into gooey perfection. Serve with a side of roasted potatoes or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
7. Broccoli Tater Tots
Looking for a fun and healthy snack? Try making broccoli tater tots. These bite-sized treats are made by mixing chopped broccoli with grated potatoes, breadcrumbs, and a touch of cheese. Bake until crispy and golden, and serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
8. Broccoli Frittata
Broccoli is a great addition to any frittata. Sauté the florets with onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms before adding beaten eggs. Bake until the eggs are set, and enjoy a protein-packed breakfast, brunch, or even dinner.
9. Broccoli Slaw
For a fresh and crunchy side dish, make a broccoli slaw. Shred broccoli stems and mix with carrots, red cabbage, and a tangy dressing made from mayo, apple cider vinegar, and a touch of honey. This slaw is perfect for barbecues, picnics, or as a topping for sandwiches.
10. Broccoli and Ricotta Pizza
Upgrade your pizza night by adding broccoli and ricotta cheese as toppings. Spread a thin layer of ricotta over the pizza dough, then scatter broccoli florets, garlic, and a drizzle of olive oil. Bake until the crust is golden and the broccoli is tender.
Broccoli is an incredibly versatile ingredient that can be used in a wide range of dishes. Whether you're looking for something quick and easy or more elaborate, these ideas should inspire you to add more of this nutritious vegetable to your meals. Plus, with its numerous health benefits, incorporating more broccoli into your diet is a delicious way to support your overall well-being.

Food items I am never without.
I like to cook, so I’m constantly picking up oddball ingredients for Some Recipe I found on a blog (usually Smitten Kitchen). But there is some stuff I just ALWAYS keep in stock.
1. Thomas’ Everything Bagel Thins. I eat these for breakfast almost all the time when I’m at home (which is 4 days out of 7). I eat them with cream cheese, Everything Bagel seasoning from TJ’s, and a salted tomato slice. Perfection. They’re also good with some schmear of your choice and lunch meat. A full bagel is just too much starch for me, these are perfect.
Tumblr media
2. Pre-cooked bacon. I buy this gargantuan envelope from Costco. It lasts a few months and is well worth it. Two strips in a folded-over paper towel for 50 seconds and you’ve got nice crisp bacon, for eating, crumbling on a salad, putting in eggs, or in my case, making a wrap sandwich. It’s so much quicker, easier and neater than cooking up bacon from raw.
Tumblr media
3. Mission low-carb tortillas. I don’t particularly keep low-carb but these taste exactly like regular tortillas so why not? My go-to work-at-home-day lunch is a wrap made with these, lettuce, chicken strips (which I either cook up myself or get at Costo, they sell great packs of them), pickled red onions (which I make myself by the boatload and am never without), mayo and two strips of bacon. Sometimes I’ll make a quick-and-dirty fish taco with frozen fish sticks in the air fryer, some coleslaw or broccoli slaw mix (or just lettuce in a pinch), pickled red onions and chili sauce. They’re also good to make egg wraps.
Tumblr media
4. Frozen acai berry bowls with granola. Another Costco find. I tote one of these to work for morning breakfast and sometimes have them for a snack. They’re really good. One minute in the micro direct from frozen makes them still freezy but soft enough to stir up. This is the item that makes me want a chest freezer for my basement - they come in packs of six and I just don’t want to be at Costco every two weeks.
Tumblr media
4. Wasa crispbread. I eat this all the time. When I do avocado toast, it’s on these. A schmear of cashew spread, avocado, lemon olive oil and either salt, dill seasoning from TJ’s or Tajin.
Tumblr media
5. Crystal Light. This is what I drink 90% of the time (although Spindrift seltzer has been gaining ground of late). I don’t make up a pitcher of it. I mix up six packs each of lemonade and iced tea together to make Arnold Palmer Crystal Light, put it in a lil dispenser, and mix it up by the glass in these big 30 oz plastic hockey game souvenir tumblrs which are surprisingly sturdy and useful. I go through this so much that I order the packages by the dozen from Amazon on Subscribe & Save. It really helps me put down enough water every day.
Tumblr media
6. Taylor Farms chopped salad kits. These kits are the BOMB and they make a very satisfying, big salad. I usually add some chopped chicken and/or hard boiled egg to give it some protein. They have MANY flavors. Creamy Dill Pickle is my favorite.
Tumblr media
7. Mini snacking cucumbers. This one’s hard because they go bad fast. TJ’s has the best ones although the Costco ones are good too but only intermittenly available. I eat these like candy, dipped in Tajin (something else I am never without).
