Origami angel/winged humanoid figure that I’m currently considering a title for, designed and folded by me. Folded from one uncut square of hanji paper, a little under 60 cm.
I’m honestly kinda proud of the shaping on this one right now. More stuff below:
The figure was originally going to have long flowing hair in the back. After actually seeing the collapsed base, I converted it into a hood, which I think worked out better than what I had initially planned for.
The main inspiration for this fold was that I was thinking of another model with angel wings, Yue, which is a 96 grid model featuring flaps as feathers. So, inspired by the audacity of how many feather flaps that model has, I wanted to fold wings with feather flaps…but not on a 96 grid. And I also wanted to fold facial features. Rough pattern provided for those who might want it.
Featuring the return of makeshift display stand methods

love doing origami yknow. yknow <- taking a break from a model that i keep cursing and swearing at
#leologisms#i am inexperienced with crease patterns! the only resources for learning this model are the crease pattern on the designers website#and this 'tutorial' that is extremely frustrating. I PERSIST ANYWAY <- got so mad

Every now and then I think about my internships during school and how on two separate occasions two years apart in two different places (a bookstore and an office) my supervisors said, "I'm terribly sorry for giving you this very long and tedious task, but someone has to do it" and I went, "are you joking? I love this task. It's fun. Give me everything you have."
(The tasks were shelving books and folding flyers. I love shelving books and folding flyers. I'd do it every day for the rest of my life if I could. Not all day because I do have a social life and hobbies. But. Yeah.)
#gnu rambles#internships#neurospices?#sorting things to make them adhere to a pattern? folding paper so that the crease is just right? good tasks#the brain approves when the corners of the paper meet up perfectly#the brain also approves when the books are shelved correctly#nom nom nom

Apollonian Network
April 2020
I was experimenting with origami and fractals and thought to draw a crease pattern superimposed on an Apollonian gasket, specifically the (−15, 32, 32, 33) packing displayed on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollonian_gasket, which I redrew in Inkscape. The axial creases form Apollonian networks. When folded, the design forms a 24-pointed star whose external flaps correspond to the circles contacting the outer circle. The internal circles are manifest in the internal flaps visible in the second image.

Origami Miles Edgeworth, designed and folded by me from an uncut square of red and white double tissue paper, around 45 cm before folding. This time, he has color changes! Yay!!!
Might get more/better photos later
And might also fold another with different paper colors too
Starting square below
edit: photos below look closer to the actual color, 2nd fold here:
3rd fold here
4th here because I am still struggling to get the appropriate paper color
Ok I made another Origamiworth linked here and this one is from burgundy paper.
and Phoenix here

The pains of summer…
It’s even juicier if you can get it just overripe directly off of the tree, I will say
Fruits also taste best if you can get them locally grown, as they haven’t been frozen (I believe it’s the freezing that happens during international transport that makes it taste more bland)
If you want pineapples and bananas that taste like an explosion, go to Southeast Asia. Best fruit I ever had
the curse of summer is buying and eating an inadvisable amount of fruit in single sittings.
#lived there for a few years#beautiful#it’s too bad my Chut Thai hasn’t fit in years (I was 9 after all)#I loved it#really comfortable#although might not be your style if you have sensory issues#because a lot of it is embroidered#or creased into interesting patterns#they are all so beautiful there it’s insane#(maybe I just like women)#shoutout to the guy who lived down the road at his restaurant and gave us free food sometimes#love you cookie you were great

nanami doesn’t argue.
that would imply there’s a debate to be had. there isn’t. you’re wrong, and he’s right, end of story.
except right now you’re standing over him, arms crossed over your chest, smirking, and somehow — he’s the one apologizing. on his knees, too.
his fingers skim the inside of your wrist to the faint lines of your palm, thumb gliding over the crease of your fingers. tracing a slow, thoughtless pattern like he’s waiting for you to say something.
he exhales, sharp. “love, what exactly am I doing?”
“apologizing,” you bend closer. barely an inch, but enough that the air between you feels warmer, “..because you feel bad?”
his fingers tighten — just a little — before they smooth over again, sliding down to the ends of yours, holding on like he’s considering it. “I don’t.”
you raise a brow, irritated now. “no?”
he sighs, long-suffering, but doesn’t let go. if anything, his grip shifts, trailing down until he’s holding onto the end of your sleeve instead, brushing over your knuckles, still here, despite how tired he looks.
you press, voice softening, teasing though expectant. “do you feel bad at all?”
there’s barely a second joining the words and the way he moves — your back meets the kitchen counter with his hand around your waist, breath against your lips when he murmurs, “I do.”
his fingers slipping under your shirt at your hip as he exhales, words slipping out on your mouth:
“I’m,” kiss. “so-” kiss. “so.” kiss. “sorry,” kiss. “baby.”
you laugh into it, fingers curling into his sweater, breathless in a way you’re sure he notices. he pulls back to see the look on your face — the one that means you know you’ve won.
and for once, nanami doesn’t argue.

aww finish it february flew by and i’m still not quite done w my cardigan. ah well, i think i can at least start blocking the sleeves and finish sewing down the button band, and maybe i’ll be able to start blocking the front and back panels? we’ll see how far i get i suppose :)
#crow.txt#i’ve been so busy but such is the way#all the panels are knit finishing has just been a drag#very well written pattern this step is just slow#the button band is worked simultaneously and then folded and tacked down at the end#and while it has a crease in it you still have to sew it on straight#the original pattern doesn’t have a purl ditch so it’s difficult and i’ve had to unpick part of it a few times#next time i will add a purl ditch or work a double knit button band instead
