Creative Computing Benchmark from 1984 showing computational speed of hundreds of classic computers!
Creative Computing Benchmark from 1984 showing computational speed of hundreds of classic computers! #history #vintagecomputers #benchmarks #creativecomputing #basic
Page 6 of the March 1984 issue of legendary publication, Creative Computing, revealed the then latest version of the Creative Computing Benchmark. This benchmark was a short test of computational speed and accuracy and the random number generator in the BASIC programming language for hundreds of platforms. The 11-line BASIC program was run on hundreds of computers, from mainframes to handhelds.…

The search for this year’s annual Auburn spirit screenprint is coming to an end. I‘be had a sneaky feeling AI would enslave us, but I didn’t it would take my job first. #midjourney #creativecomputing #designisdoomed #wareagle https://www.instagram.com/p/CiAxE9crbTl/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Space Nyan: Getting Unstuck Day 5 Jumps and Flying
https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/235902074/
Getting Unstuck Day 5 project, jumping and flying
 Creativity:
I wanted to use a gif, as I learned how from another scratcher recently to import a gif to make an animated sprite. I also wanted to make more of a game-type project, with a score and a clear end-point. Often, the sprites I use depend on what I can find through Google Image Search :-/ So, NyanCat flies through space!
Production:
Lots of sprites, each with animation. It was fun and easy to make a sprite blink quickly between two or three costumes to give them more interest. Getting the objects flying through space at an appropriate speed and spaced out enough was also difficult. I feel I could still improve that aspect of the game. In addition, I did manage to make NyanCat react every time it got hit, but I wasn't quite sure how to use the "Touching sprite" sensor in such a way as to only react once, rather than continuously as the two sprites passed over each other. I ended up putting "Wait" blocks in my "If touching" blocks, but as always, I wonder if there isn't a more elegant way of doing this.
Getting Unstuck:
So I've realized that I always think there is a more elegant way of doing things... but I rarely go look for it or ask for help. I do like to try to figure things out on my own. I have been using the "help" commands more often. Part of it is that I'm not sure how to find the specific information that I'm looking for. Another scratcher recently remixed one of my projects and indicated another way of doing something (waiting for keyboard input), so I've made sure to reuse that new strategy in this project.

p5 sketch
At first, we created the planets on a side view that rotated around the sun using webGL. Then, we made a planet class so that we could standardize the planets and their information. To make it work so that the planets were more easily clickable, we changed the idea so that the solar system side view had the planets just rotating in place and not around the sun. We added a zoom so that when the planet is clicked, it is the focus on the screen. Finally, we added some ambient space-themed music looping in the background.
The controller uses a 6DOF (six degrees of freedom) sensor to sense the rotation (Euler angles) of an object. With serial processing, we fed the values that the sensor recorded into the rotateX, rotateY, and rotateZ values of the planets. For the enclosure, we laser cut a pattern out of poster paper and folded it into a sphere-ish shape. The sensor then went inside a smaller, geometric paper shape and was suspended in the middle by string. At first, the sensor was connected directly to the Arduino with shorter, stiffer wires. For a more polished interaction and stable connection, we soldered on flexible wires, then translated all connections to a solderable breadboard. Both the breadboard and the Arduino when then placed inside a box, to prevent any wires from being pulled out.

Easy Scratch 3 Maze Game | How to Make a Maze Game for Beginners
In this YouTube tutorial, Surfing Scratcher introduces you to the ever so popular to code Scratch maze. We use keyboard input from the user to move and control a character to move around the screen. We code walls for our character to avoid through detecting collisions with the touching color block. If we touch a wall, our character is returned to the starting position. We also cover some simple drawing aspects of the costume editor. For teachers and educators, there are some accompanying resources that emphasise making decisions and iteration.
