This supposedly isn't officially Conan, but whatever. These framing stories of people regressing to past lives feel like ways to fill out story fragments.

Nous vous avons écrit que nous étions partis 10 jours au Sénégal pour « buller » mais que nous voulions marcher (d’où le choix de l’emplacement de notre chambre dans le Village), nous baigner (l’océan et la plage sont de loin ce que nous avons vu de mieux en Europe/Afrique !), lézarder sur des transats au soleil (ou à l’ombre, 32-35° rn moyenne dans la journée – fallait bien se protéger…) ET LIRE (pour nous changer les idées… nous en avions bien besoin), d’où les 4 livres que nous avions emportés.

Marina avait à terminer « Avec toutes mes sympathie » d’Olivia de Lamberterie et s’est lancée ensuite dans « Les choses humaines » de Karine Tuil (Prix Interallié et Prix Goncourt des lycéens 2019), qu’elle a fini dans l’avion du retour Elle vous en parlera dans un prochain Billet.

JM, lui, en était à la moitié de « Gabriële » d’Anne et Claire Berest (lu auparavant par Marina… que nous avons tous les deux finalement énormément apprécié, nous vous en parlerons également plus tard…). Après l’avoir terminé, il s’est plongé dans « Changer l’eau des fleurs » de Valérie Perrin. Toujours recommandé par Marina qui l’avait beaucoup aimé. JM, juste un peu moins mais il a quand même passé un bon moment en compagnie de son héroïne, Violette, et de la vie assez compliquée qu’elle a eue. Un roman « feuilletonesque » que l’on verrait bien transposé en une série à la télévision…

Puis il a commencé « Avec toutes mes sympathie »… dont il ne lui reste plus à lire qu’une dizaine de pages. Ce n’est pas un roman, c’est un récit autobiographique, écrit avec une délicatesse infinie, beaucoup de pudeur et dans un style, quand on connait l’auteur (elle est critique littéraire à TéléMatin, entre autre), qui correspond tout à fait à son personnage : simple et élégant.

Vous trouverez ci-dessous un article sur ce livre que nous vous recommandons TRES chaleureusement. Nous irons même jusqu’à copier Bernard Pivot qui, un jour, dans son émission « Apostrophes », en conseillant la lecture d’un livre de William Boyd, a dit qu’il rembourserait son achat à tout téléspectateur qui ne l’aurait pas apprécié.

Et bien, nous vous disons la même chose au sujet de « Avec toutes mes sympathies". Chiche ?

"AVEC TOUTES MES SYMPATHIES"

Un récit de Olivia de Lamberterie (Livre de Poche - 7,70€)

Sa première œuvre a été l’une des sensations de la rentrée littéraire 2018. « Avec toutes mes sympathies », le bouleversant essai d’Olivia de Lamberterie, est bien plus qu’un hommage à son frère disparu. C’est l’histoire d’un deuil impossible à faire, de tabous  impossibles à percer, et d’un livre impossible à lâcher une fois ouvert...

Responsable passionnée de la rubrique "Livre" du magazine ELLE, Olivia de Lamberterie n’avait jamais ressenti la nécessité de s’atteler à l’écriture d’une œuvre, jusqu’au décès de son frère. En 2015, Alex, « cadet éblouissant au cœur sombre », met fin à ses jours et aux envies de lectures d’Olivia.

En colère, profondément triste, et empêchée par un tabou du suicide qui ne lui permet pas de s’exprimer comme elle le voudrait, la critique littéraire finit par se confronter à la première page blanche. Elle rédige alors le magistral essai « Avec toutes mes sympathies », le récit d’un drame familial, et d’une famille qui ne sait souffrir qu’"avec un devoir de réserve". Elle raconte son frère adoré, et si attachant, son éducation dans une famille bourgeoise du 16ème arrondissement de Paris, mais aussi la mélancolie, qui semble s’être abattue sur ses proches comme une malédiction. Une auto-analyse tendre, délicate et souvent drôle sur sa vie, et celles de toutes les personnes confrontées au suicide d’un proche.

UNE CRITIQUE SALUÉE PAR SES PAIRS

À sa sortie, en 2018, « Avec toutes mes sympathies » est non seulement applaudi par la critique, mais il est aussi plébiscité par le public d’Olivia de Lamberterie, qui la connaît déjà ou la découvre à travers sa plume d’écrivaine. Top 10 des ventes en pleine rentrée littéraire, son œuvre remporte même le Prix Renaudot Essai en novembre 2018.

Si ce récit intimiste a remporté tant de succès, c’est grâce aux talents d’écriture d’Olivia de Lamberterie, mais aussi à son habileté à observer et à interpeller. Face aux questions existentielles qui entourent le mystère du suicide, et qui ne sauraient trouver de réponse, l’auteure ne recule pas, et ouvre une réflexion salvatrice sur un deuil à jamais marqué par la double peine. Un ouvrage nécessaire et solaire, qui sort aujourd’hui aux éditions Le Livre de Poche, et que l’on (re)découvre avec émotion.

He is the “Connor” that shows up with Hank as his hostage inthe Cyberlife Tower Warehouse. When our real Connor infiltrates in order toconvert and free all those androids they have housed on sublevel -49.

Cyberlife activates “Connor-60” to thwart our Connor’sattempts. RK800-60 is what he’s mostly referred to in fandom because his serial number endswith ‘60’ at the end. A.K.A “Cyberlife Tower Connor”

Original Connor’s initial number is 51. The more he dies thehigher the number will rise but typically when I go through playthroughs it’salways the original 51 for me.

60 is loyal to Cyberlife. He’s meant to destroy the realConnor. He’s basically Connor’s evil twin since they’re the same type ofmodel. Identical. Think Spock vs goatee Spock on the original Stark Trek: Mirror, Mirror episode. 

RK800-60 is the antagonist. He’s the big bad so to speak. He’sa lot like Machine!Connor in that sense. He possesses a sadistic personality,including the pen ultimate villain monologue, which I’m completely in lovewith, especially the more you unlock in the tower scenes. For being loyal toCyberlife and claiming he himself is not deviant he’s sure pretty emotionalabout being better.

60: “Look what your dreams of freedom got you, Connor?”

“Why did you have to wake up when all you had to do was obey?”

“You’ve been a great disappointment to Amanda you know? You’vebeen a great disappointment to me.”

He will execute Connor in cold blood (thirium anyone?) with no hesitation, unloading his entire magazine into him just out of personal relish. Does this seem like a machine? One who says he will never be deviant? Hm.

Interesting little tidbit: 60 appears to be left handed. Whenever he handles his weapon it is firmly in his left. A little physical difference between him and Connor I genuinely fit in one of my headcanons. 

Now when it comes to my personal headcanons/writing I liketo roll 60 in two different ways. Of course to do that he has be forcefullymade deviant since canonically he is shot in the head by Hank. 

1st Roll: 60 is a reformed, self doubting deviant, who wants to be more than Connor’s replica. This is pretty straight forward.

2nd Roll: 60 is deviant but he retains his sadistic personality, bitter towards any and everyone especially Connor. I like to refer to this more canonical version of RK800-60 in my writing as: cyberlife!60 or the overly dramatic Destroyer of Worlds 60. 

Rest assured that this version is every wonderful dark/mythological/ aesthetic in my repertoire: Hades, Thanatos, Manannán, Crom Cruach, Poseidon (or old gods of the deep ala Cthulhu Mythos), Mephistopheles, etc.

I will be creating an anthology series that uses some of these aesthetics for RK800-60 but will also include Connor + Nines. Here is a preview if you missed it here.

Side note: I believe, just as the original/real Connor,RK800-60 is also meant to be deviant. He just chooses to be loyal to Amanda andCyberlife.

Thank you so much for this ask anon! I’m glad others are beginning to request more for 60 as I feel he is very underrated. There is so much potential for him and I just love to add more dimensions to him. Whether he’s the 1st form (sweet, kinky deviant boy) or my guilty pleasure canonical form (vicious, total hades!aesthetic masochist boy) I adore writing for him. Almost as much as Connor. ALMOST.
